the PSU was done
Corsair 650w gold
after barely a year
psu made a click sound sometimes when i tried turning it on aswell
yeah
tried everything, turning it on from the power button on the motherboard, i tried clearing cmos, reseating cpu
but only the motherboard rgb was lighting up, and it would sometimes turn on for like 2 seconds
and psu would make this click sometimes
yeah it did
It was perfectly fine, I turned it off, got busy with work, didn't use PC for 2 days
came back and power button just didn't do anything it was the strangest thing ever and there hadn't been power cuts or anything that could of damaged it
I bought a ASUS psu
I wanted a EVGA but it was out of stock
great
ASUS one is really nice
The cables included are nice
yeah corsair wouldn't even cover it under warranty they claimed I overloaded it
And wouldn't budge
it was 9 months old π
yep
No, I feel like I turned it off normally
But then I didn't use it for 3 days because I got really tired and busy with work
then when I wanted to use it in the weekend it was dead
no power cuts, nothing that could of casued it to get damaged, it was the weirdest thing
yes exactly like that
I thought it was my case power button so I unplugged it and pressed the start button on my motherboard
but that didn't work either
pretty sure its a failure with some component inside the psu
I did some googling
apparently the "off state" that lets the RGB shine on the motherboard is a different part of the PSU thats in use
from what I remember
so I just decided to buy a new PSU (after they wouldn't cover it) and that fixed it up
yeah I feel like theres a main capacitor or something inside the PSU that has to charge up for the PC to start, and that dies or something
Ryzen 5 5500 and MSI X570 ACE
Idk, but its a weird fault
its very common on the corsair PSUs
i googled it
yep
so i'd just swap the PSU and then it'll prob be fine again
yeah
i'd use asus or evga
Corsair customer service is horrible
and quality maybe too
yeah fairs
hopefully the new psu fixes it for you too (I think it will), fingers crossed π€ @craggy garden
π
Its so annoying though like you want to use your computer and then its just dead for like no reason
also, I feel like complicated PCs die more often than simple PCs
Those $500 HP office machine and basic non RGB gaming PCs with $200 gpus
seem to last forever
they're indestructible
yea
indeed
are you in the US?

something like this would be nice
a cheaper 750w would probably also work

these looks good too
fully modular ones
just pick any of them
they'll all work very good
ROG is $149
I don't know which one is best
they're all nice
i'd just take the one i could pick up locally if possible π
good luck π
yea
Hey,
did you solve it by now?
if you didn't, check that the gpu power cables and stuff are plugged in and yeah reset bios too
I only saw this now because i just got back from work
This is going to sound weird
But
Try turning it on with the video cable unplugged from the GPU
I had a bad DP cable giving me this behavior (apparently the monitor was feeding power to the GPU through the cable)
(this is a comment for future reference)
weird but can happen.
