Hi,

I got a B350-F rog strix that does not get into bios.
Tried both 1800x and 2600x, same issue.
8 GB 2666 ddr4 ram

I've cleared cms many times and swapped all ram slots with the two sticks I got atm.

There is only connected the components above and a stock cooler.

Leds go like this:

dram orange, cpu red, dram orange, cpu red

does or does not get into the bios

primal sphinx
#

does not***

worn cedar
#

if it does not post take out all sticks of ram

#

then put one stick in

#

see if that posts

primal sphinx
#

Tested one stick, in all the slots one by one

worn cedar
#

and it does not do it

primal sphinx
#

no :/

worn cedar
#

what is the light code on the mobo?

primal sphinx
#

no light code, other than "orange dram, red cpu"

#

and stays red cpu

#

Tested two cpu's (1800x and 2600X) that works

worn cedar
#

okay sounds liek a bad cpu or socket take the cpu and look for bent pins

#

sounds liek a bad cpu

primal sphinx
#

No bent pins, even did spray electro cleaner down the cpu socket and let it dry (even blowing air so all the cleaning would waporate)

#

evaporate*

#

Can be dmg on the socket pins? (mb socket)?

worn cedar
#

possibly

#

or you got zapped with esd

primal sphinx
#

hmm mby..

#

it instanly as I turn it on spin the fans, light up a some random leds on the motherboard and tries to do a start. witch give "orange dram light goes off, red light cpu comes and stays"

#

so it looks like it is trying

worn cedar
#

check to make sure you plugged in all the ower cables both the 24 pin mobo and 8 pin cpu

primal sphinx
#

They are fully plugged..

worn cedar
#

okay

primal sphinx
#

little lost tbh, can it be bios crash?

worn cedar
#

did it used to work before?

primal sphinx
#

I got it for cheap from a guy that had upgraded from a 1600 to a 3600 and didn't get it to post

#

So I guess it was an old bios.. so I did buy it

worn cedar
#

well a 3600 is to new

#

i dont thinke b350 supported that cpu

primal sphinx
#

ye, so I tested with a 1800x and a 2600x I have.. and they don't post

#

so probly something more, I've build a few computers and like to troubleshoot

worn cedar
#

i think the board itself might be bad do you know if the cpu work in other systems

primal sphinx
#

but I don't have anything to read bios with

worn cedar
#

i dont think it is a software issue

primal sphinx
#

ye, both cpu's work on my other mb

worn cedar
#

ok does the ram work in other systems

primal sphinx
#

I have not tested the ram I used first.. but I have tested a 16GB stick and that did not work

#

give me two sec I'll boot one of the 8gb 2666 sticks on my testbench

worn cedar
#

yup

primal sphinx
#

ye the ram is fine

worn cedar
#

okay

#

so both the cpu's u tried and the ram u tried are good both power plugs are firmly seated and you still get lights it sounds to be like the board is deader than a door knob sadly

#

wheather it happened in shipping or the seller knew it

#

what do you have any storage pluged in if so take it out see if that makes a different

primal sphinx
#

no storage.. I only test with mb, cpu, 1 stick of ram, and stock cooler plugged in cpu fan.. and start the system with a startbutton

worn cedar
#

yeah did u try clearing hte cmos?

primal sphinx
#

ofc clearing cms everytime just for the sake of it, and even clearing if I swap ram slot

#

ye, 30++ sec with a jumper plug

worn cedar
#

i would take the battery out and leave it out

primal sphinx
#

then boot with no cms battery?

worn cedar
#

yeah take the battery out leave it out and put the jumper into clear cmos mode and powercycle it

primal sphinx
#

I'll try that tomorrow otherwise i'll just sell the board as defect and then the next guy can try
