#Windows Folder Sharing - Password?

Hey there - I'm trying to share a folder over my network from Machine 1 (which has the folder locally) to Machine 2, but I'm getting credential issues.

Both machines are unlocked/signed in using a pin, not a password. However, M1 uses a Microsoft account as the admin account, and M2 uses a different Microsoft account. I know the passwords for BOTH Microsoft accounts.

I am able to easily share a folder on M2 and access it on M1. When I attempted to connect to the folder on M1, it asked me for the Microsoft username and password (of M2). Worked perfectly, first time.

THE PROBLEM:
When I attempt to share a folder from M1 and access it from M2, it asks me for credentials. I attempted to use the M1 Microsoft account email/pw and it says "user name or password is incorrect". I even changed the password on that Microsoft account to make sure I had the correct password.

So, how do I figure out what Windows is looking for? I tried the local username and password (or, what I thought they are) and that does not work either. I do not want to disable password sharing, since several others use my network who I'd prefer not be able to access these work files. I'm also not sure about limiting access to certain users, I'd rather just login using the local account credentials.

Any suggestions? Thanks 🙂

I did also want to mention, I can see M1 on my network while using M2. When I attempt to connect, it pre-fills the username field with the Microsoft account email from M1. So most of my assumption has been that it is looking for either that Microsoft account pw, OR another password associated with that email but only on the local machine M1.
