So this is likely a very niche problem, im trying to convert an old pc i had lying around into a server, it has a 3 channel ddr3 motherboard but only part of ram is being detected, for example i had 2 8gb sticks in but it was only detecting 4 of each? as far as i know this issue never occured before.

#

apparently the board has a 24gb limit but i dont think that is the issue

#

detects ram as "16gb unknown"

#

and doesnt seem to respond to frequency changes

#

motherboard said it was set to 1333mhz but windows only detects 400mhz

i think i might just leave it

#

16gb is still detected at least which is still good

#

considering its a 12 year old pc i think its fine

Maybe it's designed to have a matches set of 3 or something
