“M.2 sata device will not work on this socket”

I bought a new z390 ROG Strix motherboard. I plugged my m.2 into the south m.2 port, how do I fix this

looks like one of the m.2 slots supports sata+pcie and the another is pcie only

think most m.2 ssds recently are pcie, the last sata m.2 I saw was from 2012 iirc

but wd, samsung, toshiba all make decent m.2 drives

That’s fucked up, PCIex-only m.2 should be keyed in a way that don’t allow data drives to be inserted…
