My brother knocked down my HDD and now it won't be recognized as a proper storage device, although my computer recognizes something being plugged in. Obviously it is broken, I just don't know if there are any specialty places that I can take it to get it fixed or if anyone knows how to fix this because I'd love to not lose everything dear to me but I can't do much if it is a paperweight now.

Take it to a data recovery centre
Any idea of companies I could go to? The only place I can think of is best buy with geek squad or something
Google is your best friend
Of course, I just didn't know if any were big or well known
Are these things typically hundreds of dollars to repair?
I see an LTT video about taking it to a repair shop
seems more hard drive repair than data recovery really
just needs new components
but you will probably need to ship it off to a data recovery service
if i were you i would immediately stop plugging it into anything since the platters mght get scratched by stuff inside being misaligned
