This link to my forum post goes over all the details & it appears I haven't yet found anyone who could offer a theory or possible explanation.

Event Viewer no because I'm not very good at all with interpreting with the log & such. But in the post, I DID state that I checked the ram for error both with MemTest86 & Windows' built-in diagnostic & both turned up negative. [Next time, I would appreciate you reading the post all the way through including comments before asking questions, but no hard feelings; just a preference.]

Does chkdsk find any issues? Also, the SFC command is not a reliable indicator of file system corruption.

I've done chkdsk & that comes up negative. BTW, what makes you say the SFC command isn't reliable when checking for file system corruption? 🤔 Last time I checked, it's pretty much the tried & true method. [Unless you argue that there's a better method...]

Sfc specifically checks Windows files against a stored image of Windows. It’s not a file system check. It completely ignores installed programs, user files, etc. As long as certain Windows files match the stored image- it’s happy. Almost every system I run it on at work has something that Sfc finds issue with, but Windows, the file system, and their computer runs perfectly fine.

I’ve seen SFC fix lsass process from eating 16+ gb of RAM, fix explorer.exe corruption, and fix Windows ability to install updates.
Corrupted or missing installation files are an example of something sfc doesn’t care about.
