So, there has been a wide array of issues performance wise with this game. And since its going to be game of the year, I am sure a lot of people will have issues with one thing or another.
One of the major issues I have had, and seen a bit online is the micro stutters/slide frame performance. Even on top end rigs. For reference, my PC has a z690 motherboard, 12700k, rtx 4090, and the game was installed on a gen4 nvme ssd, with 32gb of 4000mhz cl18 ram. Game should be fine right? Campaign was amazing and smooth, but once multiplayer dropped it became a stuttery mess.
So here comes the troubleshooting, I thought it was a 12th gen issue, so I downloaded the game on my other pc (ryzen 5600x, rtx 3090, 32gb 3600mhz cl16, gen 4 ssd) and wow, no issues, at all.
Now Im mad. Fast forward 3 hours of troubleshooting, and realizing its not a server issue but me. I decide to move the steam install from m2_4 to m2_2, and the micro stutters are fixed, game runs amazing, 200fps on 4k max settings. W. T. F
all 4 of the m2 slots on the asus strix z690 a-gaming are Gen 4 x 4, orginally game was on m2_4, moved it to m2_2. the SSD on m2_4 is a Gen4 WD black and the ssd in m2_2 is a sabrent gen3.
So, What gives? Why would the game stutter on a faster ssd, if everything checks out? where was the bottleneck? Does the game just want to be rude and not liked being installed on the last ssd? Any insight would be great, a bit irked I wasted hours on this dumb game but am interested in what was the culprit.
TLDR: game ran like poopoo on a ssd and now it runs amazing on a diff ssd
