Built a PC couple weeks back, some minor issues but it all worked well. Until 3 days ago no matter what you do on the PC it crashed either to BSOD or just reboots. Installing GPU drives flashes the screen and PC works fine but no input visible or just BSOD.

Specs:
Motherboard- MSI B550M Pro
Ram- Kingston Fury Beast 2.8GB 3200MHZ
CPU- AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
CPU cooler- Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L
GPU- Rtx 3060
PSU- 700w ciftech

What i've done but haven't fixed it:

  1. Complete windows reinstall with all the of the drivers and updates that are needed
2)Tried with different ram from my own PC and also different slots
3)Looked up stability issues with the cpu and tried to change values in the bios
    4)Bought a new 750w corsair psu
5)Did a system restore to and earlier date

What i've done so the pc is usable:

  1. Swapped out the gpu for the old one (it being and radeon R9 2xx series)
2)Went to device manager and uninstalled the gpu driver from there
    3)Booted in safe mode

And at this point i've spent over 15h trying to solve this issue and i've ran out of ideas except something being a faulty part after 2 weeks of use

Update: Swapping the Gpu out from the 3060 to 3080 also fixed the issue

I would keep that fix if I were you...

Sadly i need it too

So it only happens with that 3060?

chilly flicker
#

yes

amber kayak
#

have you tried an older driver?

chilly flicker
#

jup same

amber kayak
#

Maybe try the studio drivers, those are generally more stable

#

i would open chrome boom crash or windows setting too fast after desktop appears boom crash. When i would install gpu drivers it would blink to fix the resolution and not post and then sometimes the fans go full speed

#

i can try studio but i fear the worst atm

Your SSD is new too?

Do you have a different PC to try the 3060 with?

#

Could just be a friend's or whatever

chilly flicker
#

Yes although i did a bad check

#

Since i put it into my pc drivers got installed fine but didnt test anytging else

I'd verify that it does or doesn't work on a different PC for sure. If it has the same issues on a different PC, could be the GPU itself is wonky or the windows drivers for it are bad

#

If it doesn't have the same issues, I'd think your motherboard on your new PC is the cause

#

Is the UEFI on the new motherboard up to date?

could you replace the gpu?

So at the moment ive messed around with setting in the bios aswell sadlu no avail and since 2 different gpus out 3 have worked. I will take it that that gpu went bonkers

#

And ive given that back with return policy to get my money back and bought a new one hopefully that resolve the issue

#

Since the bsod was always the same

soo atm it was the gpu
