IT sounds like someone who used to work for them. And that whistle has been blown many, many times. As I said, DHS issued a bulletin last year (maybe the year before) that MS browsers are not and could not be made secure.

I'm not kidding. The shop I worked in, they cut "release" code at 5 pm and sent it out. The whole idea was to fix it in patch later.

FIrefox or Opera.

I use Opera for virtually everything except stuff that's coded to REQUIRE a specific browser (like Walmart's "Tell us how we're doing" site) and Firefox for that.

Chrome is barely a browser at all. It's more of an advertising delivery service with a browser tacked on to it.

30+ years in IT and I've NEVER lost personal or customer data to a trojan, virus, or scam. Maybe I AM paranoid, but it's not like there aren't people out there trying to get at this stuff every minute of every day.

#

The only virus I ever got was from a factory Macafee antivirus disk.

Hell Raiser B got into the production stream there and was on their release disks (the ones I got anyway) with the last factory "IBM" brand PC I owned.

Took me forever to unscrew that one.

Yeah. Apparently some airgap at the plant failed. Some moron needed a copy of the code and pulled it from a sequestered box and put it into the production data library.

Got a pretty good settlement out of them for it - for about five years I didn't have to pay for any of their products and they replaced my PC (well, they paid for it - I didn't actually have to replace it).

#

They put me in their system as some sort of development partner and anything I wanted, I could just download for free for five years.

#

I've been doing this a very, very long time.

#

My first "PC" was an Altair 8800 I build in the summer of 1975.

As of June 2006 we are putting this platform on hold, as until such time as our staffing situation changes, and the incompatibilities on both sides are resolved, further development has been shelved.

TL;DR:

When the network is low on work units it is a game of luck to get one.
You mentioned long time until next try. If that grows beyond one hour. Pause and start again. That resets the timer. But do not abuse this as it will only add to the friendly fire ddos that is going on.

Then "Change advanced power settings "
Then it opens up a "Power Options" window
Scroll down to "Processor power management"
Make sure if you are lowering the maximum to also lower the minimum to at least that number otherwise it don't work

airflow on this rig is gonna be wild. idk what the 1060s look like but the 1070 is a blower design. the 980 is gonna go at the bottom where it gets the most air, then i am thinking 1060 since it's probably a shrouded design that can get airflow from the sides some, then the 1050 since it's tiiiiny, and then the 1070 at top since the blower will extend out past the 1050 just fine. may swap the 1050 and 1060 if the 1060 needs more airflow since the 1050 is low profile as well it's just got a 2 slot cooler on it despite being half height lol

yea the network just saw the addition of a ton of new work servers but right now they're having human bandwidth issues on the end of making more work units available

some servers have work but other's dont and so those servers may also be at capacity sometimes so you dont get work even if it's out there, they're still tweaking things to help with this

If you're looking at the overclock spreadsheet then its mostly based on Core21 work units

Ah, yeah the 5700XT looks off
You have to remember that they're based off of average of people who submit their PPD... They self report and everyone has a big PPD when you ask them to measure it themselves
An the 5700XT is based off of just 1 persons report
