Luckily I end up being fine with temps since I've got a 9400F and a 1660 Ti, even when I overclock the 1660 Ti to 2GHz it only ends up being like 50 degrees CPU and 70 degrees GPU

best thing you can do, local remote connection from one to every other computer on work and than acces this one over teamviewer or something at home. else you have to make a different port on every pc and make the port forwarding rules in the router for every pc

Well, I have internet-capable 486 and Pentium 1 rigs that would be chuckle-worthy at a minimum

I have much older hardware than that, but not windows 98 compatible, and I doubt F@H would run on 3.11 or DOS. Getting the linux version to run on kernels that old would probably be a non-starter as well.

Non-starter due to missing instruction sets. I've tried getting modern features working on a 386 CPU, it's just not possible without SSE for a lot of them.

Yeah these are Atom n270 CPUs.. Dreadfully garbage lol.

They use a single 12V barrel jack or a 2-pin 12V molex. I can power all the boards off of one decently sized PSU

But as a cluster, they might be able to do a WU fast enough..

I've never tried creating a cluster before, could be a fun project.

Without the main CPU chips, @marble quartz you need to re-create the stuff in FPGA or some other form of emulation. Otherwise, it's just the original made with a new PCB

FPGA is as close as you can come to real bare-metal with "new" stuff... But it's not 100% perfect most of the time

Not sure how Pelican handles the threading, but that's the idea. I've never built a cluster before, it's more of a kill time during the quarantine experiment lol. I have a bunch of these little mini ITX atom boards, might as well see if I can do something neat with them, even if they end up not being very fast for it lol
