Seems that @rich depot was right about me not needing to turn the entire machine off, because it wasn't that the GPU stopped working, it's that it ran into a download error. The CPU ran into the same trouble earlier.

At which point the program does need to be re-started, because after whatever download error this is, it just sort of gives up.

I'm surprised by the temps of the HD7970, I was expecting with only half a slot clearance to the 1080Ti below it that temps would be much higher, but it's sitting at around 73-75C on the core and 77-80C on the VRAM.

GPUs generally complete WUs a lot faster due to the way folding works

Similar to mining, a lot of the same stuff over and over again. So it benefits from tons of low power cores, whereas CPUs have a couple high power cores that focus on doing many different things simultaneously

I will prob fab my own metal side panel so I can mount some fans blowing air into the GPUs, but the 980ti at the bottom has access to fresh air through a filter and runs around 65C folding

The issue is with the caching implementation in Chromium-based browsers, the way to get around this without going incognito is to enable the experimental flag for the new caching implementation:
chrome://flags/#enable-simple-cache-backend

At least that's how we used to do it

But to be honest if say use the advanced viewer, type FAHcontrol into your start menu and off you go

Yes, assuming it's a good 1050W power supply and has enough PCIe power connectors for everything.
Though, I'd still power limit the cards (80% or so would probably be best for folding efficiency)

Top one is chipset
Slot 2 and Slot 4 are the x16 slots, but will run as x8 mode with the other slots occupied
Then you can use slot 3 and slot 5 which are x8

The reason why they have such odd connector counts for the cables is because they use 4 PCIe cables on a single cable
So 1050 with 8PCIe cables is 2x2 connector cables + 1x4 connector cable
1350W with 10PCIe cables is 1x2 connector cable + 2x4 connector cable

We started the data validation process at 00:47 we just finished now, every time a new person is added we have to validate the WHOLE sheet again as we learned the hard way last year

310 sign ups last years vs 1754 this year, decisions had to be made

Macros dont work for the first validation due to having to reorder the sheet to match UNIX sorting methods

should be smoother in future as we have multiple methods of tracking errors like conditional formatting and the like

I don't SLI them, so I wouldn't know. The non-A variant is a blower card that'll only be used during folding sprints. It's usually just a 1 card box.
