well in that case I'd do a lot of research into people who have done CPU upgrades for your laptop. I spent a couple of weeks scouring the internet for advice but mainly people who had done what I wanted. Look at spec sheets for higher spec versions of your model.

As you say it's quite a rarity. Most of the laptops I've upgraded are old so there are a good few examples of people who have done it. You don't have that plus your laptop is more complicated in its specs but you will be one of the trailblazers.

I've added a second machine to my FAHControl, and when I'm looking at localhost the 2nd machine says "Online" but when I click on the second machine it changes to yellow and "Updating" and never changes. What am I missing?

Well, being in Florida, AC stays on a lot. Eats up the electricity big time. Summer time it makes up half the bill or more. Big reason I'm happy the cool weather finally showed up. Bill went from 170 down to 55.

also here’s a pro tip here of how to utilise all your cpu cores instead of just one of them:

open the Advanced control window by searching in the start menu

#

click Configure, Slots, and click Add

#

Make sure CPU is selected and choose as many threads as you want the core to work

#

Depending on how many cores your CPU has, repeat that process corresponding to one less the amount of cores your CPU

#

So if I have a 4 core CPU, i would repeat it 3 times so it shows 4 CPUs in the Folding Slots area

Could just be variance based on what WU it's doing. 11730 is a pretty good WU that gives high amount of points.
1060s should be doing around 400k ppd, give or take a bit depending on temps, clocks, WU, etc.

AMD use to be fairly on par with Nvidia on F@H back during the 7970 and such, but the newer WU are geared to take advantage of Nvidia tech

Yes, I know the 3gb has less cuda cores, (stupid Nvidia) but it's looking at player1 ppd compared to pilotfur the 3 gb version seem to perform maybe 40% worse. That shouldn't be the case I think.

If you want to spend as much as you can, might as well get a 1080 Ti or so

If you want cheap, a 970 should run you under $150, and should get you 350k+

If you just want 70k PPD, a 750 Ti will do 80ish. Mine is OCed to 1350 core and 2920 memory, it does about 84k

I'm going to have to give the 1080ti a break from folding for a while. Just hit Australian summer and temperatures for the next few weeks are all expected to be above 30°C, and the room with my PC faces the sun so will often be up to 5°C hotter than outside. The aircon struggles enough to keep the room cool and I can't be running effectively a small heater at the same time.

I managed to get over 28 million points for the month, more than the 25m goal I set for myself. Also broke top 300 for the LTT team which I'm pretty happy about.

Knowing how brutal our summers are, I probably won't be folding for a few months... But once some cooler weather comes around I'll definitely be picking it up again, especially if we go ahead with the Aus Vs NZ competition that I'm excited for.
