Then you have to get something that'll provide you with 1.6Tbit or 2x 800Gbit lines
The linecards for the NCS2006 are only ~$300k each, not bad ๐
If anyone wants to sell me a gaming computer for 300 dollars im interested
lol
ew
hi @subtle glen ... why dont you order DWDM from your ISP
Kitty!
kitteh
hi mr. @waxen scroll
kitteh protec, but it will attac the wires later
she used to sit on the network switches
cause they were hot
and also on that modem, then she broke the antenna...
thats already a wireless G antenna, if she sits on top...
the fluff will absorb the wifi
ooooof
yep
1 year ago i was still using it
then i got a 60 euros tp link 5ghz router in combination with that. then the isp gave me by mistake a new modem and i replaced it
802.11ay is best
AD is where it's at
wireless G is the best
802.11AY is for 40Gbps backhaul ๐
True

It's still Windows 7
xD
sometimes i get the "you may be victim of counterfeit" popup
is that work?
a friend of mine office rack
Nice server
unfortunately not mine
ewww SATA
ewww SATA
once i get a new machine im going NVMe and the raid card is going bye
;p
also apperantly since avago bought LSI, now broadcom has bought avago
broadcom makes raid cards now
Doesn't LTT have 23 in RAID 0 or something
Yah, I thought they did
yeah he did it to test it
i dont think anything supports 23 raided nvme
dunno if it was the final raid
They did it for some server they had, or maybe it's just got 23 NVMe drives
and RAID 10 or something
how many PCI-E channels does 1 NVMe take up? is it even possible?
for whonnock
ahhh so that new nvme server is the new whonnock?
i remember the old one that broke down
QQ is SATA SSDs or HDDs
but it uses chipset or cpu lanes
Whonnock is NVMe SSDs
yeah
The realtime backup is 8TB HDDs
Clover is HDD
Ah, 23 NVMe drives is 92 PCIe lanes which would be dual Xeon chips
and one would be short 2 lanes and pull from the PCH
i forgot, whats the clover one? ive seen it but i cant remember what it does
Clover is the water cooled one I think
no
its the one with like 8 hdd's
i think
the one under the orange nvme one
the watercooled one is at the bottom
Watercooled is the render box
yeah
Next two up are Petabyte Project 1 and 2
Next up is unRAID for storage and surveillance
The storage server with redish drives is NVMe Whonnock
hold on
The one with orange drives is SATA SSD QQ
rgb in the rack...
linus...
That's the old one
theres a new server?
Yeah, that's the old one
Swap QQ and Whonnock
This is the correct config
there are 5 storinators now
I thought QQ was under Whonnock
QQ is on top
Hmmm
OOF covering the patch panel with stuff racked in the back
hows ranked going @vagrant heath
good
ranked what?
on rainbow six siege
Ah
you can play in casual (you lose nothing happens etc) or ranked ( there are ranks people is stronger if you quit during the game you get a 15 mins ban)
@subtle glen In the workflow video the mining machine is replaced with a storeinator that is offline
oh ok
Visio online lul @vagrant heath https://linusdrop.tips/?i=1531060697.png
I'm using the desktop version
@vagrant heath I use the desktop version because it comes with Visio Online
there was a liiiiiittle bit of sarcasm
but compared to my "rack" if you can call it like that..
i use an ikea table
and i hide pc's under my bed's stairs
phhh
extension cord
@waxen scroll you have a pdu on the front
What should I do with my console server? Should I just leave it in the top of my rack?
the PDU is dual. it has outlets in front and in back
really?
of course
lol
Lol
๐ด +- 30 M of cat 5e should be abel to handle 1000'ish mb/s right? or should i change it to a cat 6 or higher]
100m max
that's what i was thinking too, but my modem shows max 100mb/s
wiring could be bad. i can tell you that professionally i have run over the max of 100m and have even had it work with gigabit and no errors
right, will rewire it then tomorrow
its just a cable and no jacks in between?
nope
i see. well then you'll have to do process of elimination on the whole thing
i need to say that it runs like 28m under ground......
hah
@clear igloo over 100m club
o.O?
cable length for ethernet
oof
lol
you should have seen me run that cable
i was on night shift at the time
i used a lot of space on the floor below the conduits getting the wire out
nobody was there to see it
โค
slack++
Lol
nothings worse than being a floor or two above and getting the wire stuck
lol, nice
That's pretty cool
Wow
the AC units would die and the rooms would start getting hot fast
only way to fix it was to go on the roof and do a complicated reset proceedure
and 10min later the unit would power on
Was that complicated procedure hitting it with a steel pipe?
would have been nice
heres another story
i admin'd the fire alarm
turned it off in the day time because construction
imagine my shock when i went to the panel that controls the sprinklers and its flashing FIRE
lol, that's not good ๐
Lol
No fire though right?
no, but no idea the cause... one of the vesda units was reporting a fire in an area with no construction activity
vesda, if you dont know, sucks in air and uses lasers to determine air quality
much faster detection than smokes
And nobody was smoking anything nearby?
its a datacenter
that whole building basically is the internet aside from a few offices
๐
I've seen some stupid stuff so it wouldn't surprise me ๐
Lol
most stupid thing ive seen is someone walking in the facility with starbucks or water bottle and they know the rules
i was also security there LOL
so i got to tell people no
Saw the aftermath of someone who dragged three N7K linecards (I think M2) and shoved them into the chassis with the backplane couplers going like // instead of ||
Put them in two different chassis as well
i dont know why so many people are all "start at helpdesk!"
fuck no
start at datacenter
at least your customers are IT people
Ewwwwww
true
Help desk
do your time as a remote hands person and the people calling in are pretty much gonna tell you what to do
Yup
these facilitys are stooping so low now that they hire people with art degrees
so its easy to get in if you know some things
lol, might as well get my basket weaving degree ๐
degree in medical records
I still need to finish up my Bachelors degree some day
u wot m8?
I've only got my Associates degree ๐
oh, at least its something
Yah
i keep telling myself im not sure if i would get a degree again but the paper has helped in two instances
so its paid for itself
my first job the hiring manager went there
3rd job was degree for * or no hire
science companies are like that
;p
i had portal 2 posters there
Nice!
i dont keep ANYTHING at work now
my desk is bare
"i can leave you at any time, im not invested"
cause they'll fire me in a second too
๐ค
Ah, I've got a mug and some books I don't care about ๐
gg
next job im gonna try to find a recruiter whose top shit and get 100% work from home jobs
I just can't stand being cooped up in my house all the time like that
I work from home every now and again but generally I'm in the office
But then all my money would be spent to keep me sane
get a damn cat
you wanna know a huge FWP ?
wanting more $ ontop of the massive amount you get, then realizing the median salary for your state is $50k below
lol, that would do it
yeppp
im creeping up to the point where ill never get more in my life unless i go to management
its insane that they give non-director managers more pay than me when i do all the work to get the solution working
Yah, an IC should make more than management imo

There are some places that happens
i havent yet had the other thing happen, where my manager is younger than me
close ive come was 5 years off
Yah, I think out of all the people in my group, I'm the youngest by a good 4 or 5 years still
some people also legit think im 18 as well
lol, I'm the opposite ๐ฆ
I'm 28 and bald like I'm in my mid to late 30s x.x
omg
Hush or I'll cast a spell on you and make you bald too!
;-;
i cant wait until @rocky badge has to find a job
Why
you'll see
^
Tell me!
That would spoil the fun ๐
the "fun" being all entry level jobs to india
@rocky badge when you go interviewing, be like Chad
you dont need that fucking job
you have a hot wife to go home to
Lol
you drive a chrysler sebring because you're secure with your sexuality
you dont need any bullshit
In fact you have two side pieces as well that your wife is okay with!
You are the man and the company should be lucky you graced them with your presence ๐
Your 5 year plan? Who cares, you'll have a new job with more pay in a year from now
any interviewer who thinks you'll be there in 5 years is not smart enough to work for
Why are manhole covers round? Are they fucking stupid? You applied for a network tech job.
Walk out. Chad wouldnt take that crap
Lol
And remember, don't be like Frank
i did seriously cancel a final round interview once because i was told "the CIO wants to see how you think on your feet" meaning asking those types of questions
if i couldnt think on my feet, i wouldnt be working at a global pharma company with write access to all of their network equipment
What's the best way to host a offsite backup server?
Do you want to own the hardware? Plenty of places with flat rate colocation rates
Yes I do
ah
Surprised I was able to login though

I have a question about wifi networks and bandwidth, is this the right place?
Yes
are minecraft servers supposed to take up all your internet bandwidth?
No
It depends of how many players and stuff I guess
well, here's my problem. my friend likes to play on minecraft servers, but whenever I(with a few youtube tabs open already) connect to the same(150mb/s) internet network, he claims that I "use up the internet" and he can't play at all.
Well you use some bandwidth but I dont think few yt tabs can saturate that
I also guess that yt is more about download and playing on mc servers is more about upload
right, that seems logical. but we're paying for 150mb/s speeds, so don't you think that we would be able to use the same network without any problems, since I would be mostly video(download) and he would be mostly gaming(upload)
You would need a lot of tabs to saturate that
I dont think that youtube is not allowing him to play
20 is for 1440 hdr uploads
That can't be right...
Below are recommended upload encoding settings for your videos on YouTube.ย
Container: MP4 No Edit Lists (or the video might not get processed correctly) moov atom at the fr
Its right there
In the bitrate section
That recommended upload bitrate is quite a bit higher than what the download speed you need when watching btw
Its just the bitrate that makes sure that the data is there for youtube to makes the compression that they do fine without it looking worse than it could have
From my understanding at least?
While 720p have 4 Mbps recommended for upload to youtube, when you actually stream a 720p video, the actual average bitrate is something like 2 or something
1440p is recomeded upload on 16 Mbps but when you stream its actually something like average 7 or something
dont take those numbers as exact
nerds
Hey guys. WHat sorta price would I have to spend to get a Router that's more stable (wireless) than our BT HomeHub 5? (Am in UK)
well since nobody is responding, i dont keep up with consumer gear so my question is whether your wireless itself is unstable or if its the router.... if you're somewhat advanced maybe it makes sense to tell your router to stop broadcasting a signal and then add an external access point?
ubiquiti gear can be had pretty cheap
i do know that routers are getting up there... $200-300
but i cant speak for their stability since i dont use them
or get something like this and disable its dhcp server and connect it to the other router to use it just as access point or use it as main wireless router
EWWWWWWW that looks shit
i think your problem is that the wifi isnt good, right?
@rocky badge gaming router LOL
the word gaming = $100 more
i wanna reset my edge router some time and try one of those templates
mines still 100% manually configured
from years ago
look, you can flip it over and use it as a table
That lone RJ45
yeah but an RJ-45 SFP costs like $20
Then get fibre.
Hey guys! Thank you for the responses.
So our speeds are good for cabled and wireless but often things feel sluggish on our mobile devices. All of which are pretty new. I have even split out 2.4 and 5ghz. We're in a small flat so it isn't actually signal strength that's the problem.
And it's super stable cabled to my pc.
So I'm not particularly sure what the issue is.
Poor isp router wifi
But what you are referring to as RJ45 is really 8P8C. <rest of copypasta>
I was thinking of that "GNU/Linux" copypasta
but was too lazy to write the rest of it out for RJ45 vs 8P8C
@thick minnow I personally recommend Google Wifi or anything else supporting mesh wifi, unless you're in a small space and it's not needed
Though issue with it is lack of static routing and vlan support, but if you don't know what those are then don't worry about that
they're pricier but they JustWorkโข
Looks like some War of the Worlds gore shit.
Thats what a server would look like if i made one
So.......
out of 100 pings, 9 of them are lost and the packets never get sent nor returned.
What could be causing major packet loss?
My network interface and google
I did a report, and this is what came out.
(TCP Ipv4) "previous segment not captured"
The packets requested never returned to the client from the host.
(TCP Ipv4) "TCP Keep-Alive"
The packets requested didn't arrive on time for the client.
(TCP Ipv4) "TCP Retransmission"
The packets sent, were not responded to in time, making the client re-send them.
(TCP Ipv4) "TCP Duplicate"
The packets sent, were responded upon request but multiple times of the same packet.
(TCP Ipv4) "Fast Retransmission Recovery" [RARELY HAPPENS]
A lost packet is quickly recovered in a small time frame.
(TCP Ipv4) "Portmap Failure"
The specified port wasn't open upon request, causing failure of data transferring.
(TCP Ipv4) "Out-of-order"
The requested packets were received in a order that shouldn't have had been sent in.
(TCP Ipv4) "Ignored Unknown Record"
If the MTU size set up on the WAN Interface is bigger than the real MTU size provided by the ISP, the packet with length bigger than the real MTU size will lose some bytes. Following that, in an encrypted protocol (TLS, SSL) this can cause a packet fragmented or not complete.
More than 300 of these errors were captured within 10 minutes.
In major outages, most of these errors are bundled together for 20 requests or more.
Errors recorded and monitored by Wireshark.

Erm, that's a bit much to read.
๐ lmao dooley
assuming I have a router with pfsense and it's all setup:
can I just (dis)connect the router to a vpn with a few clicks or is (dis)connecting to a vpn more complex?
Pfsense supports routing everything from local network to a vpn (with even more settings to only route some stuff) and so connecting and disconnecting (nearly) instantaneity
Or at least AFAIK, you have a VPN module that you can connect or disconnect with some clicks on the web interface.
XD
I am right am i
Oh so thats not a cable rail, its the ventilation pipe
^

Stop, hammer time
no one is going to attend an issue of 4 pings out of 100
what if 2 of those 4 pings are your isp fault
now the chances that your isp is going to attend to that issue halved
from none to -1
@clear igloo senpai
@thick minnow come on man
pings and trace route results with ms arent a valid troubleshooting tool
@lofty bone all that shit you posted is for TCP. pinging is generally ICMP unless you purposely made TCP pings
its useless for what you're reading
@waxen scroll It indeed is. All websites we go to process it, as well as discord and web apps. The router totally freezes and stops doing everything from getting full with them.
I've also been seeing TLS warnings.
As many of my websites I go to have stopped loading for not being secure, because they stopped for safety.
Even Google.com wasn't secure a few times.
I'm calling my ISP for the 10th time tomorrow, to see what the hell is going on.
Freedom Broadband is shit
Waiting for @fickle plover to buy like 20 of theese
Y u tag him
Oh boy
Wish I could get a hardware related job soon because for the moment I'm just a filthy welder
looking at this makes me think i should redo our cabling too <.<'
which would probably cause downtime ๐ค
@thick minnow that is perfection right there
Damn, that is clean
found a photo on my external hdd, in my wallpaper collection that ive been collecting for about over 13years now give or take a few. Everybody might like it, if you haven't seen it, if you have, nice ๐
Before Cable Management in Networking, you dealt with this ๐
Yup
man ryois been quiet today
RIp
home or work?
@waxen scroll Wot
oh look who decided to show up
๐
you spend so much time in general trolling that we missed you
Home @waxen scroll
If it was a work server it would have a UPS. My home server has a UPS, it just doesn't work

i5 4460, 8GB of ram, 5TB of total storage
no u
Why
you'll know when you get one
@rocky badge nice. ive got a Pentium D, 2gb RAM, and 80GB storage
oof
about to become an i7 970 with 12gb ram and 12TB storage
@subtle glen finally got pfsense working
shakes fist an anger at Amazon
Why
They decided to announce they might sell networking gear now
Competition is bad m'kay
Oh
When I say sell, I mean make their own to compete with other vendors
Why....
I'm not worried, just annoying because a bunch of stops dropped like rocks after that announcement
lol
oh for fucks sake amazon
so @rocky badge i have $20,000 at risk right
amazon announces something that affects the stock
- 10% value in one day
amazon are assholes
LMAO
what happens too is months later they'll go "oh, it wasnt realistic"
then months after that "nm, were doing it again"
stocks of other companies go crazy
@waxen scroll took one day only to download r6s
56GB
at 1.2 MB/s of peak
did you got pf sense?
no, you did
wow
now that i know that subnet thing, it would probably work
look at that download speed boi
@waxen scroll Yah, they said 18 months at least so I'm of the opinion that we'll see how it goes. They are like Google a lot of the time, something doesn't happen fast enough they give up on it pretty quick
lol i want to see these amazon switches
Usually Google products die after a while ๐
hope they will have a good complete web gui ๐
Web GUI
@rocky badge when you grow up you too will be watching CNBC and getting mad when amazon does things
๐
im wondering, do old people in the USA watch work in progress in the street too?
like so
of course, we have to commute in it every morning
@clear igloo I'm using ad.ryois.me for my AD.... funny thing is the domain controller... it's ad.ad.ryois.me
Yeah
:\
I should've made my domain controller something else
silly blobby
like dc
Windows Domain controller server ID 1, Production
its not a stupid name, the name scales
not only does it scale theres tons of useful info in the name
xD
and its not long
Yah, but for @rocky badge he'll forget it by tomorrow ๐
Nah
for routers... rdilchicago-mpls-a, ricnshangh-vpn-a
SO MUCH GOOD INFO IN THE NAME.... capcapca pcapcap
XD
lol, oh boy ๐
What
they told me "yeah, we're not using "i" (for international) in any name... it will make the international sites feel excluded and far away"
i was like GET THE FUCK OUT... what? go away
Lol
"d" (for domestic) meant USA
you cannot pull that naming convention off unless you seperate i and d
because of overlap on country codes
like IL for illinois and israel
so i lost that battle and just said screw it, we're not normalizing names
hostnames need to be kept short for various reasons
Ah, true
but you can basically guess
oh i want to touch hong kong
super easy!
guess it
the only variable is the -a at the end
multiple sites? -a, -b, -c
just guess it
people think its annoying or hard, but seriously after doing it for a little bit its stupid easy to remember whose -a -b whatever in a global network
plus you should have visios if you truely dont know
the only time i wouldnt do that is if you had a crapload of non-campus sites that will make you pass z
then i might think of a different name
but if you have 50 sites in IL you're not going to name them all chicago
you'll use the city they're actually in
so in summary... please dont name your server "ad" or after lord of the rings
Pi-Hole Stats
I don't use pi-hole anymore
Why not?
Broke stuff like ESXi ๐
You have to whitelist stuff.
True...
Ah
๐
it works out, nobody has issues
See. I'm the same.
But I want that bandwidth that's going to ad's
That's MY bandwidth
That bandwidth belongs to the advertisers, stop stealing money from them!
/s
Also. If you have a Datacap. That's 37% of your data allowance
@clear igloo What do you think of Cisco Small Business switches?
@vagrant heath Lol, datacaps
The tabletop ones or the rack ones
So tabletop
I don't see a reason to get one of them. It's cheaper to get a dumb switch with VLAN support
I don't need VLAN support
If you are getting it for free/dirt cheap then sure but I wouldn't go out of my way or anything
^^
Ok ;-;
Any recommendations on black tabletop 8 port gigabit switches?
I really want it to be black ๐
My current one stands out from its grey color
Don't buy Unmanaged Switches from Cisco. They are overpriced. I love Cisco. but they are for the enterprise.
Yeah
You buy Cisco for IOS
What you really need is an ASR9922 with some RP2s, 32x100GbE linecards, and high speed fabrics
๐
So you just need a black unmanaged switch then?
Yes
just paint it?
Hmm
Cheap plastic, yey
thats racist
Lol
Plastic
I have a dumb gigabit netgear switch that is black plastic.
Yes, blobby, plastic
But that's just because I needed a switch and that's what I had on hand
OOF
I needed a low profile one so I went plastic here
ur tv has a dick
Noooo
Shhh
Thought that switch had front indicator led's
They put them on the back
But I needed a gbit one soooo๐
lol
haha ๐
๐
my boss asked me to check the boxes and they were gone
lol
๐ค

Now I need a leak detector and wifi power shutoff system x.x
Lol
nuuu wireless
run cables
now i realized that in the middle the night, if the power goes out and comes back, the switch will restart and go VRRRRRRR ๐
my mom wont be so happy if it happens
lol, yah
now when i go to sleep i always think about that
maybe its time to connect it to the ups
probably a good idea
the ups will beep till the power comes back but i guess its better
It's better than 5 switches going VRRRRR
One time the power going to the racks got cut off some how and all they started using UPS power
and everything went BEEP BEEP BEEP
Well... The UPSes lasted for 15 minutes because all of the APs, switches, etc drew power from the UPSes
So in 15 minutes the whole school went Internet-less
Because that rack was the MDF
no generators?
And where the fiber line came in
Another time the building where the ESXi hosts were went down....
my school has no ac in its server room and you can hear from the outside all the servers going VRRRRRRRR
"server room", its just a room with stuff in it
30 degrees celsius outside and no ac in the server room ๐
does your school have generators or something
or just ups
you never know
a substation transformer could blow up and leave you without power for 13 hours
based on a true story
or someone can just go to the breaker box and shut everything down
That's easy to fix
We have keys
That's if you can get to it
Blobby. Fix it
it doesnt happen every day here...
dear @ancient vigil
i dont think fixing a substation/changing a transformer is so easy
@waxen scroll no u
@rocky badge Get back to your play
Intermission
hey blobby do you want to MiNE DiaMOndS?
redundancy
you are saying substations are connected to eachother for redundancy?
if so, thats really cool
well now im thinking, in this zone there are like 4 substations in i think 1 km of range
those arent connected if one blew up and took down half of the city
Any idea why this "CAT5e" cable only pulls 100Mb/s?
Turns out it's the device the cable's connected to. Not sure why, but it only has a 100Mb/s interface.
What
I guess 9pm is fine for 5am
@clear igloo no u
ok ;-;

Doubt it, this country has basically never been this dry
Oh
Now I just have to purchase 36 drives
Lol, what size?
big
Big, bigger, or biggest?
The greatest!
too small
Probably 3.5"
๐
Gonna go into my hot rack
Lol
๐
HDD screws
lol
Then sell it on the black market
on google the description said something about people stealing ac units
we dont have that kind of ac units, not mine
Some places have the slim units or window units
I've heard stories about houses for sale that literally had all the copper pipe ripped out of the walls
Yah, those are the slim-line ones
ththen a neighbour wanted to go overkill and installed the dual fans one that is taking all the space on its balcony
lol
probably cause he has an air conditioning thing in every room
Oooooh
Almost looks small in the car :p
I assume that's a 36 bay case? Or just 24?
36, 24 in front, 12 more in back
Gotta clean the rack a bit and wait until I get a DOM and some disks before I get it running tho
But I just had to grab it asap at the price I got it for ๐
Kinda, it's in it's own room, but this server isn't gonna be the loudest one
It's also in the same room as the washing machine so ๐
It has to be in the basement
Took me forever to figure it out but the fans aren't the loudest part of that case
I don't blame him though ๐
It's the damn PSU x.x
No, the supermicro case
Oh
I still don't know what magic Dell uses in the R610 and R620 servers but they are crazy quiet
Gotta have Capri-Sun! @vital badger https://linusdrop.tips/c0b49ea3.png
Was hoping to drop them off at a friend since I was pretty close, but he was on vacation so
Fun thing is that it's a 4G router to the right of those capri-sun's
Lol
What
Lol
@clear igloo I think this VM has too much ram https://linusdrop.tips/fc18d4aa.png
lol
@waxen scroll I see you trying to get banned with a message like that.
@waxen scroll your use of emojis...
Screen cap what
The Thing
What's "The Thing"
the thing goes skkra
@rocky badge u going to LTX next year?
I dunno
@waxen scroll Cuz it was hotter inside than outside ๐
Looking into cooling my network storages. Anyone ever use a swamp cooler to cool a house with network equipment in it? Should be okay as long as its non condencing, right?
Evaporative coolers produce humid air because the air absorbs water during the cooling process
jeez, the tough cable is a bitch to work with
rip, one Cloud Core router died
How did u even manage to kill it?
if I activat my open media vault nas goes the internet down, I stay conechet to my FritzBox but the internet is down
dunno @vital badger it just kinda gave up
Weird, most Mikrotik stuff usually does 5-10+ years easy
oh i know :>
Personally seen a few devices with 2-3000 days uptime
Good luck
@waxen scroll Lol I really want one
I think @rocky badge should apply to LMG
Why
I like how they have a NO REMOTE WORK rule, then they broke it when a writer moved
Remote work is the future
u sure about dat
Yeah, they let it slip in a video recently
if you say so
Ye, I can see why LMG has taken a different stance tho

Is it possible for me to zucc the Wifi off of my computer (or rpi 3?) through my Ethernet port?
@subtle glen you can't cuck that zuck
Ok I searched bridging and found nothing useful
@tame eagle i can tell you how
open your network devices
select your ether and wifi at the same time
right click
on the submenu there should be an option that says bridge
click it
and there you go
only issue now is that your pc doesnt have internet
Ok I'll try that
Lol
Lick it
top notch ground setup
put some water on where you are standing step on it and turn the light on
lol
@waxen scroll
if the light is off and I touch it, it turns on
And if I measure the current between that and ground the breaker trips
Oh and the metal structure is just a liiiiittle bit electrified and I cant understand why
some of those chinese LED bulbs are dangerous
I tried to measure the voltage (dc and ac) but it stays on 0
@subtle glen you're the pfsense pro user?
XD
Looks like you've got a ground fault my man.
ofc i am @waxen scroll
i made that mistake on purpose
to see if you could solve it
lol wut
@finite glade that lamp doesnt have ground, im assuming the metal structure is picking up the magnetic field of the wires inside
@waxen scroll lol
I need a very simple router for my bedroom to connect my workstation, my laptop, my xbox and my server to my internet box.
Will this one do the trick ?
https://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details/cat-5581_TL-SG1005D.html
5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch
That's a switch not a router
I mean, I just need something to be able to connect multiple device with only one ethernet cable
I don't want to run 5 15m cable accross the flat
Networking isn't my domain, I'm a software engineer
Do you already have a router?
I don't need anything fancy
1Gb per port is well enough
It will be mainly used to transfert file from HDD to HDD
one sec..
Maybe from RAMDisk to RAMDisk, but that would be an edge case
