Yes
lemme call bill gates real quick
we can also take some servers
@Microsoft Yo guys can i run a cable into your nearest datacenter for some balling ass speeds ? just lemme know when i can come. Thanks :D
he said its fine
he said he should have some containers of fiber cable in the basement
XD
yeah but whats their speed
why not asking nokia data center to hook us up with their thera connection
Does nokia has a datacenter then ?
well if i remeber right, they were testing the 1tbps connection between an university and nokia data center
Give me this line:
Marea is also the highest-capacity subsea cable to cross the Atlantic, providing up to 160 terabits of data per second. Thatโs more than 16 million times faster than the average home internet connection, with the capability to stream 71 million high-definition videos simultaneously. Additionally, Mareaโs landing point in Bilbao provides a convenient path to network hubs in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, and its enormous bandwidth will help meet the increasing demand for internet and cloud services.
XD
i think im gonna break in this fiber cabinet and hook my phone line to the fiber line
XD
Lol
cause the number on it doesnt match the one thats in the power room
and i cant find mine, so i suppose this is the one
My dads work has a connection straight into the back bone of a isp XD
When they ware talking the isp said: Oh but we dont have coax in the thing
put wifi repeaters between ur dad's office and my house
They ware belike: We dont care we want fiber XD
Coax sucks
gimme dat
^ i agree on that
we dont use coax for internet
what the frik is coaxial for internet
we use it for paytv
we use coax cables with 2 different plugs: one for something called sky and the other for "normal tv"
we use phone wires or fiber for internet
Its from the neithbourhood-box to our house coax
But from thier backbone to the box is fiberssss
thought coax was just for tv
Nope
Well in house it is
Because the coax goes in to the cable modem
Aka isp provided SHIT
this is for internet
No it isnt lol
Nono i am fine
rj 11 connectors
I now understand why your internet = shit XD
THAT doesnt MEAN anyTHING
italia is shit about connections
just in big cities u get fast internet
milan and other cities have 1 gbps fiber
i live near milan but in this city....
So uhm this happend https://beta.techcrunch.com/2018/03/08/mcafee-acquires-vpn-company-tunnelbear/
Security giant McAfee is acquiring Canadian VPN provider TunnelBear. Terms of the deal havenโt been disclosed. McAfee said that it plans to integrate TunnelBearโs technologies into the companyโs own VPN product, Safe Connect. The TunnelBear team will also keep working on TunnelBear products under iโฆ
#LinusTweets
its already something if u have adsl 20 mbps
XD
WHat THE
I dont know italian XD
it says that 81% of my city has 30 mbps adsl
0.1 % 100 mbps adsl
it was 10%
now its 0,1
Oh
i hope the website is broken or something
i want more
isp that offer 10 gbps connection
^
XD
For reference, the Federal Communications Commission officially classifies "broadband" as 25 Mbps. His connection is 400 times faster than that.
Oof
or locate a backbone cable and hook "legally" to it
XD
This machine has 10 Gbps Internet Connection. I thought I was gonna get 10 Gbps from the test , but the result only showed around 1 Gbps. This may due to the...
Lel
not even ookla can stand this
No its because hes testing to the other side of the planet .......
well i dont think that testing to the other side of the planet gives u a 1gbps speedtest instead of a 10 gbps one
MMM
Nasa belike we have 91Gbits Per second
nokia data centers be like we have 1 tbps
hahahahaha
im still waiting to see italy investing on network connections and infrastructures
but none carse about that
fck all the immigrants that are coming from africa etc
^^^^^
we want faster internet
^
whos with me
i promise faster internet for everyone and gigabit switches for free: vote BlueCrazii as next president
Yes
lol
Do it
we got this
Everyone who i know gets 10Gbit to thier house for free
As a upgrade
So you pay for gibabit
And you get 10Gbit
๐
my friend got a free upgrade from 10 to 100 mbps
and im stuck with this crap
cause my parents are lazy af and dont want to upgrade it
XD
RIP
quality speeds
would you use an expensive router/modem/firewall(i think) even if it has 100 mbps max ports?
Fast Ethernet needs to die.
hijacking MAC addresses! yeet
If your bandwidth is lower than 100mbps and that you use a gigabit switch for your network, why not.
Mine is lower, but everything else is 1000mbps
Then if it's a great router/modem/firework combo, it could be worth it to use it (if you are going to use its features)
You may be able to find some expansion cards for it on ebay, like a gigabit switch expansion card or a better modem card.
๐ค
Didnt think about that
I dont think I can use it as a modem since the isp provides its own that works with the signal the isp building sends to it
If it uses basic ADSL and if you can retrieve your logins (sometime, you can get them from the modem itself or just look at your ISP website) and just set them on the modem/router.
The fact is that I dunno if I have to access it through its console port, or connect the pc and put the gateway ip in google (tried that andu it didnt work, maybe I also have to specify its port like 192.168.1.1/20)
Most of those routers don't have their remote access (through telnet mostly, sometime ssh) enabled by default and so require to use the console port (you will probably need a special console cable (RJ-45 to serial) with a usb adapter)
(I have more experience with similar Cisco hardware, maybe Juniper do stuff differently, search for the manual on the internet, it could really help you)
And even if you don't use it as your primary router, it could still be fun to check at it, as those piece of hardware have a lot of interesting features to play with.
A bit, I'm learning with Cisco lessons at school (with access to 1941 routers and some Catalyst switchs)
Is that a cisco lab?
Yeah, they are pretty cool, we have 4 of them in a class room and more switchs/routers in some boxes. Those one got some expansion cards recently.
๐ฎ
(2 x 4 1Gbe RJ-45 ports switchs cards + 1 serial port card, for each routers)
My internets fooked today
@subtle glen yeah they are
Woah
Baller
2 routers + 4 switches per rack, 4 of them.
I just recabled my network and I'm pulling 3mbps instead of 140
I got a catalyst switch (few of them, but this one in particular) that do random stuff
(Plus some more in boxes)
If I connect to it some pcs they wont get internet access
But some works fine
Also if I unplug cables from it the lights stay on
Are they used or new ?
Well if I connect to it with putty it asks me a password and a username that I dunno
Already tried to reset
@thick minnow Those in boxes are brand new.
DAmn
And those one were too
Also in its program if I connect to it I dont see anything helpful
Directly from cisco ^^
Free stuff
I like free stuff
Me too
I like it even more when it works XD
Just look in general 3
I got for free 4 catalyst switches,2 laptops with the docking stations, 7desktop pc,cables, a modem/router and few other things
๐ฎ
Nice ^^
And a monitor
720P or newer ? XD
Oh
I saw that
Alex do u connect to a cisco switch (in the program) by inserting the ip ur pc got?
Not through console cause I dunno the username and the password
@subtle glen If there is still a password on the switch, the reset didn't work, you have a little button at the front of the switch, press it for 20s, lights should blink then be full on, release and wait for the switch to reset.
Yeah
Then you have to connect to it through the console port... Or try to use a telnet client to connect with the switch IP (if it got one)
What series it is ?
Catalyst WS-C3560X-48P
End of support : 2021
Does it say enterprice ?
IF it does its expensive
๐ฎ 48 port
@thick minnow Catalyst series is the entreprise grade, manageable switch series from cisco
๐ฌ
obviously
Isnt that ur locals ip?
I'm actually a bit sad not being the one who got this thing for free...
Put the IPv4 from the gateway
what are u trying to connect to
But the switch doesnt have an ip
Wut
the switch isnt her gateway tho is is?
If it only have a pc connected to, it is
But if there is a router, that is another story...
fair point but its running DHCP on it?
Well shes talking to us
and it doesnt look like a seocnd NIC in there
I never used this tool... Always used CLI :/
If you dont know the pass will CNA even let u in?
They said that in the cmd tab u put as default credentials cisco and as password leave blank
It doesnt connect
It doesnt even show the letters im typing in the password field
error or just drops connection?
yeah it wont show letters in password thats just a *nix thing
^ +1
I tried resetting it and hold the mode button till it boot up
Maybe because you reset it so the remote access is disabled, use a USB B mini cable and connect the switch on a PC with a terminal that is compatible with series peripherals
Oh... ok
I did by holding the reset button till it starts making a jet engine sound
Or... They uses a modified IOS firmware...
and then u cant reset it that easily
Would be strange but it could be
Rips
Lol
i bought a 24port on ebay for 15$ CAD and flipped it for 40$
Lol
Lol
Ill stick with my 5port and my 4 port but i wish i had a 24, i just need a "Green" one without fans
This pc has internet but other pcs on that switch are connected but cant go online
I have a 8 port for my self XD
Who buys managed switches
And it only has 2 pc's and 1 laptop on it XD
They are a nightmare
XD
Managed switches are great if ur trunking
Especially if u dunno what ur doing
thats pretty much my only use
Or maybe they have this painful reset process like the one on their routers
lol 30 30 30
i absolutely need help with this switch
yeah
with the other catalyst switches
those one have a fan with rly bad bearings
and i think one is broken too
Gtg cya
There we go !
:/
(it says "in charge")
Yeah
or while its rebooting
ok so while its up and running
why does this pc works with that switch and the other one noooOOOO
FFS
Yeah, you press the button, wait for it to turn off then it will restart clean
maybe it can only hold 1 client for setup reasons I have no idea
ok lemme see
have u allready tried the thing i sent?
@regal terrace By default, they are working like very expensive unmanaged switches
sounds like a steal of a deal
It reboots
Its blinking faster
But no jet engine sound yet
When it reboots it usually put the fans at 100*
Yeah, when you reset it, it doesn't fully reboots, so there is no jet engine powered on.
It shouldn't take off for now ^^
Ok its rebooting I guess
Why theu heck does it have dual 700w psu
I mean I know its poe
But cmon...
Enterprise grade, if it used to power a lot of mini PCs that are running off PoE, it would make sense. And the dual is for redundancy. (obviously)
Can I hate you now for having this piece of Cisco hardware working ? ^^
oh and now the pc is back online
Looks interesting
@subtle glen That's normal, because when it's not setup yet, it acts just like an very expensive unmanaged switch
i would have used also as unmanaged switch
(about the pc now online)
Enter interface name used to connect to the
management network from the above interface summary:
what
"Using an expensive 48 GbE PoE ports manageable switch as a basic wallmart switch"
triggers
LOL
using that in my house where i dunno how to config it
triggers too
Enter interface name used to connect to the
management network from the above interface summary:
i dunno what to type
maybe that's the SNMP thing
(never used it)
And i never used the setup tool too :p
ur the one that knows those switches
also seancorrgs
and guess what, i got more catalyst switches
old i guess
but whats that mode butto that switches between the modes written on the front
i mean i guess the poe one activate the poe function
I don't know ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
(It's my first year at school so ^^')
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Do some "die and retry", best way to learn stuff ^^
i dunno what is this enter interface name
but i need extra ports for the pc's
u were saying about small pc's that get power from the poe switch?
do they even exist?
ohhhhh maybe Voip phones
@subtle glen VoIP phones yeah, also Raspberry PIs (the zero for sure, others one with some adapters)
What the f******************* is this
A "enterprise" setup
"Enterprise" setup ? ^^
i mean i just imagined that an office would have used multiple switches in a stack config
but thats on another level
or like connect the switches together with 1 eth cable
I'd definitely die to see a datacenter network room
me too
i asked my dad if i could see the one where he works
but i dont think his badge is unlocked to go in there
he said he has been in there once
and it said "its cold in there"
Of course, if it's not, it's bad.
ive seen few vids on yt of network rooms with ac units failed
all the servers were on a rampage
You should check the /r/networking and /r/sysadmin, there is a lot of funny stories
i will see
i would pay to go in there and maybe touch some stuff, pull out some servers and see inside...
i used to work in a hospital and their network/SAN setup put LTT petabyte to shame
did u take some pictures
Noooo, would have been really awkward as the suits were with us
next up is to buy a com to usb adapter so that i can config other switches i have
3 down?
i got 9 if im lucky
I pay for 140
WHAT
and this is like the first time in like a while its not working
Ik
its a modem issue cause I can still transfer between my media server and my desktop @1gbps
or an isp issue
Yeah but noone in my area seems to have the same issue
steam is maxing at 700kb/s i normally pull 14MB/s
rip
Yeah fair, you cant get anything faster?
oof
we swapped to the 100 mbps fiber but the isp made a mistake
so no fiber
but they gave us a modem and aint gonna give it back
if my isp ran fibre to house i would have 1gbps up and down
i got few calls by a bot saying that there was now 300 mbps fiber and 1 gbps fiber
thats a win
but my parents are lazy and i still have the 9mbps one
but my tests are saying like 2-3 and it doesnt seem to limit like youtube all that shit still loads
yeah those run pretty smoothly
yeah idk how half teh time when im on wifi and far away i pull 20 and youtube buffers to shit
like 10 lmao,
cause my isp doesnt want people running servers
the next tier is 350mbps up and down but not available in my area ๐ฆ
Internet speeds here in Germany are terrible
I noticed
Oof
http://www.speedtest.net/result/7129167139.png supposed to be gigabit, though i am far from my router, nothing ever hits 1000+1000 even on ethernet
its AT&T thats why @lean skiff
I'd love to have that upload speed
same
this is crappy http://www.speedtest.net/result/7129314596.png
This is stupid
Lol
Cool, No ISP in my area provides gigabit so idc.
Feels sad I know the feeling
Oof rip
First test, around what its supposed to be. 80/15
BUT
I run it one more time
wtf
why is that 98
OH
the 80/15 thing doesnt exist anymore so it must supposed to be 120/15 now
weird
Oh lolz XD

long live fiber
donate to me few mbps
speeds i want
speeds i have http://www.speedtest.net/result/7130657676
ouch
internet is way to expensive
ยฃ44.70/mo for 76Mbps up and 19Mbps down
Downside is, I would prefer more than those speeds xD
Upload is a must
for 100Mbps up and down here it costs ยฃ467 p/m
Though its a dedicated line
lmao
Office 365 isnt bandwidth hungry surely.
ikr
fiber is $70 for gigabit
like 100 gbps?
why not 1 tbps
i have gigabit
Lol
the computer is thick enough to not need that
but its cool af
wirelessly um getting 67.7 mbps up 26.8 mbps down
?
donate me few mbps
^
like 100
put an ubiquiti dish on ur house and gimme some mbps
i did this from a 3 ft eth cable in my router
Normaly its 200/20 ....
Time to yell again XD
Rips
Hi guys, I am searching for some OpenVPN pros to create a strange config for a very specific usecase :
I want to be able to connect a PC to a distant OpenVPN server over a IPv4 only network and then create a IPv6 tunnel to have a IPv6 address on my PC from this distant server (which have IPv6).
I just need to be able to get IPv6 on a IPv4 network where there is no other possibility to create a IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel
Here is a simple schema to explain the thing :
i dont even know how to vpn
I know how to install it on my server but that is where it ends
OOF
Velocitร di navigazione:
FTTH fiber up to 1000 Mb / s download and 100 Mb / s upload by Open Fiber
FTTC fiber up to 200 Mb / s (where not available 100 Mb / s) in download and 20 Mb / s upload
ADSL up to 20 Mb / s download and 1 Mb / s upload
I know how too, but I know that you can create a 6 to 4 tunnel with a OpenVPN config but I can't get it to work...
Oh
I am one of the few people in the world that cares about IPv6 right now and so it's quite difficult to find answers when you want to do some strange stuff.
i wanted to use ipv6 but my dad told me to stay away from it
And one day we have to go over and no one knows what to do XD
he said its a nightmare
You are basically forced to have a firewall on each of your machines to be completely safe from anything.
well its an extra layer of security
Well, with IPv6, you have a direct access to your machine, to open ports, you just have to open them on your computer, not on your router, because that's your machine that take care of this (except if your router have a IPv6 firewall)
so if i port forwardtraffic for a certain application i dont need to do it on the router?
Yeah.
but im pretty sure my router has an ipv6 fwall
For example, i got a small dev server on my PC for an app, I can connect to it from outside just with the IPv6 and the port.
interesting
That's why this thing is cool (but dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
Hmhmhmmmm
i spent 20 minutes to put all the ports to make r6s work with the security of the firewall on high
and still doesnt work
it works fine for me, but i want to increase the security of the network and if i put the firewall on "high security level" it still doesnt work
even with its port forwarded
ubisoft and their crappy servers
Ubisoft and everything ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Well step one ask blue for a account on his vpn server thingy
Step 2 install openvpn
Step 3 drop file in proper location
Step 4 Profit ??????
I have a little PC that is running Debian with a small OpenVPN server, with a small script to have a dyndns hostname linked to my public IP, I always have a small VPN up and running in case I need a non restricted network (like at school). And because I have 16Mbps up, I even can download stuff.
Did you trow something at it ?
Noice
o u need an IPMI network interface
@subtle glen Yeah, I opened a port on my router.
Yeah, OpenVPN server, opensource
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-openvpn-server-on-debian-8
Then you just need a domain name with a dyndns configured (or a static IP) then you're fine.
but isnt opening a port on ur router a bit dangerous?
cause the traffic on it wont be filtered
I have port 8K open on my router XD
Wut
Nope, that's safe if it's just a port to a server with no known vulnerabilities.
mmmmm
This machine have its SSH port publicly available but as there is strong passwords and a fail2ban configured, I'm fine.
safe and sound
And you have prob root disabled ?
Over SSH, yeah
I still need to change that XD
Then you have to know my password and the root password (if you even know my username)
Gl with that XD
do you use pfsense?
Nope
Only on my ESXi server
Isp provided shit
Very cool software, if you can use it, it could be fun to have
i have it already
but i was thinking about using as extra layer of security
not like a router cause theres already the isp one
and also i could not connect everything in the house to it
i mean i could with more cables and stuff
It could be great to create something with your cisco switches (with VLANs) like setup small subnetworks for each kind of uses, like one for IoT/untrusted peripherals, one for your PCs and stuff, and some others depending on your setup, then uses a pfsense to get everything to work then goes through your ISP router.
just tell me how
(Overkill setup but great to learn security stuff)
im still surprised that we made it work
im still looking at its blinking lights
also the other switches (the old ones) dont have an usb console port and i dont have a com to usb cable
Small example of a network with vlans : https://community.sophos.com/cfs-file/__key/telligent-evolution-components-attachments/00-51-00-00-00-01-99-87/VLANs.jpg
My only IOT item i have is a chrome cast XD
i mean there is 1 vlan
a poop
Thats rly colorfull
ikr
i want to get into Vlans and stuff .. any one recommend something for me to start with?
get a 3k 48 port managed switch
LOL
...
I hear ripoff
the one in the picture
. . . . . .. . . . . . . . .. . . . . .
plz help xD
ah also u have to donate me few of ur mbps
Yeah, to do VLANs you will need a managed switch (enterprise grade most of the time) with enough ports for you.
ill get that
the 2 thousand one?
ye
yeah boi
You can look at those from Ubiquity, HP too (don't know their switches series tho) or Cisco Catalyst (watch out for for those with fast ethernet, like old 29xx)
Ok thanks ๐
@subtle glen do you think that this one is expensive enough ? https://www.alternate.nl/HP/3800-24SFP-2SFP+-(J9575A)-switch/html/product/1260207?lk=19839
so vlans are like different networrks with different privileges
yes
just 4k?
pffff
oh ok
seems interesting
but aint good at using cmds in the switch cmd prompt
ermm this?
uuu it has sfp ports
Yup i might look at fibre to my Other Switch
i know for sure that an expasion card for my switch with few sfp ports will be rly expesive
I don't know anything about HP switches :/
Actually one of those pc has a purpose
The others are waiting for one
Thats why I was asking to tell me something to do with those
There are other 2 pc without a purposrle that, are not in the picture
hyperv
Isnt that a windows server feature?
You can have it if you have a Win Pro license
yes and yup
The problem is how to buy it without a credit card
And should I turn off the switch?
I dunno how much power it consumes
Hahahahaha wtf bruf
do u get it?
@high anchor should I turn off the switch
If you saved your config, you can do it, but you aren't forced to.
At idle, I'd say probably 20-50W, but I couldn't tell. If there is no important stuff on it, you can turn it off.
I definitely need a kill-a-watt
But meh its sound is relaxing
I think I will turn it off even if they say that turning on and off stuff makes them last for less time
sorta
must use more
Reposting this :
Hi guys, I am searching for some OpenVPN pros to create a strange config for a very specific usecase :

I just need to be able to get IPv6 on a IPv4 network where there is no other possibility to create a IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel
Here is a simple schema to explain the thing :
@high anchor it's all about routing.
Why do you specifically need ipv6?
I can do like half of it, but the rest is out of my field.
Because I have a ESXi host with VMs only accessible through IPv6 (or I need to do some port redirect) and I don't have IPv6 access at my school
Technically, it's just adding a 6 to 4 tunnel route in a OpenVPN config file
(and a bit of DHCP to give addresses but it's not that hard to do)
Generally OVPN will find the right route.
If the profile can hit the internet and the proper ports are open on the server end of things, it'll find it.
I have an OVPN server in Canada running from a VM.
And I'm not in Canada*
Well, if you have IPv4 and 6 on your network, OVPN is working fine to route everything, but if you only have IPv4, there is no IPv6 routing. OVPN doesn't create by default this 6 to 4 tunnel...
I actually found something about this, but it's written in german and Google translate so bad that I can't understand anything about it...
I just found this too : http://rampke.de/ipv6-openvpn/
And some script stuff : https://gist.github.com/SAPikachu/8642558
Well, everything I saw was basically do some script to create a 6in4 tunnel after the VPN tunnel is setup. So i'll probably take some time and do some random config things and see if I can get it to work (and post it somewhere on the web to help random people like me ^^
Huge thanks for your help !
@high anchor https://techblog.synagila.com/2016/02/24/build-a-openvpn-server-on-ubuntu-to-provide-a-ipv6-tunnel-over-ipv4/ does that help at all ?
https://serverfault.com/questions/830672/route-ipv6-over-openvpn-ipv4-tunnel theres this one too
@rocky badge I HAVE IT .. i deployed chrome!!!
Thought u got the managed switch
you deployed chrome?
yes
im confused, chrome the browser ? or are we talking some other chrome product ?
@frail igloo yay
๐
@rare ember chrome the browser
ahhh
on my Laptop it works now
makes a bit more sense now lol
Group Policy
Yupp
ive thought about that myself
but we have too many idiots, and one application we use requires internet explorer to launch it
and they are dumb enough that they will do the wrong thing even if we tell them what to do
I join the PC to the domain and reboot it. I don't have to use edge or internet explorer
hopefully we will be replacing a couple of our vmware servers here in the next couple of months, and ill be taking our old ones home for my personal use ๐
And if it cannot join the domain \\10.0.0.100\data\! Important !\ChromeInstaller.exe works
couple of oldish hp dl360 servers for set up at home as hypervisors ๐
what hypervisor do you use ?
Hyper V
That's Pulseway.
vmware, xenserver are the main ones ive used
its lightweight and easy to use
imo
just costly if you want full functionality
hyperv is less light weight, and for the most part less costly, unless you want true system wide management, then you ideally need system center, which can be pricy, xenserver is free unless you want support, but less feature full imo
Hyper V integration with Windows Server amazing. If your hypervisor runs Server Data center it will automatically activate Windows Server VMs.
yeah
Automatic Virtual Machine Activation
it would just be a bit of a long transition period where i work if we decided to go onto hyper-v instead
Ah ok
on top of which im not sure on how well it integrates with NFS and NetApp
or if we would have to switch back to pure iSCSI
Idk hmm.
not to mention the cost of system center to lay over the top of it
ive thought about it a little bit but it alwasy just seemed to much a pain
when vmware is more than capable
I just need to run Windows server that doesn't have other roles.
Certian windows server roles cannot be used or assigned to the same server
yeah
and certain windows server roles that can work together really shouldnt be allowed to :p
Lol yeah
like, IMO if you turn a server into a domain controller, that should be it :p
Like proxy routing and ad fs can't go together iirc
My school runs VMs for AD DC, FS, etc
we are purely a virtual environment
apart from a couple of servers (backup servers mostly)
same
domain controllers , sql, file servers (netapp so not really a server), web servers, api servers,
even terminal servers
Ew .htaccess
๐
Apache is for scrubs. Nginx for life
Ikr
same here
I have a wireless with 299,7 Mb/s with 2.4 Ghz and 139.86 Mb/s with 5Ghz. anyone knows which is faster and why?
5 GHz is much affected by interference and distance, if you have equipment like a microwave oven and stuff or if there is obstacle like walls between you and your router/switch, it could explain the bandwidth difference (as 5GHz should offer the best max speed)
^
I think there is a TechQuickie about this

Whats the purpose of that usb port? is it for firmware update, for storage sharing or what
One is using the Serial protocol from Cisco and the other one is a classic ethernet management port
^^
Well.
One is a Console port and the other port is so you can connect out of band.
Which you would never need on a home network
My ISP have a national outage, bunch of website and apps (including Discord) are inaccessible, so I installed in 2min a OpenVPN server on one of my dedicated server because I didn't wanted to wait for my ISP to fix their sh*t XD

This may or may not count as advertising, but it's for a legit purpose of helping a fellow techie so... do with me what you will cruel gods. I've been using Acronis True Image recently and that works a charm, easy to use and backs up reasonably fast. Problem in that it's all saved in a proprietary archive, but it costs about 50gbp for an actually good piece of backup software
(do I need to put the disclaimer that I'm not affiliated with Acronis apart from that I use their products?)
Oh god... Good luck and have fun setting up this thing XD
