"countrys CC" what is CC sorry?
Credit card
That’s kinda weird, friend of mine lives there and he had no issues
And then i couldnt even add a payment method
oh
Yeah it indeed is
Did you put in your age?
If it is -18 then that would be it
It does not ask for age and I was ordering in my mothers name because im 16
I was ordering as a guest too
@twilit sage I’ll ask him, I should have a response tomorrow
The rift only sells at 1 store in the Netherlands and they only have the touch bundle
No accessories
Gotta buy the accossories on the oculus site which takes 4 days delivery
Yea same for me
BTW are the VRcovers any good?
I kinda wanna get one but i also really like the oculus one
My only concern is hygiene with the one i have rn
They are! I’m usually doing very active games and the covers get a bit moisty (I swear)
You can also look on “VRcovers” they are the best
Yeah I know. Im doing this 6min long song in beat saber over and over because I fucking love it for some reason. I get sweaty as hell
The ones from oculus are great but not the best
Yeah i was asking about them specifically
Ah didn’t read that
ah well, Im getting some of those after I get the sensor
Well yes they are very good
My only concern is that the leatherette ones will get too slidy after I sweat my butt off in robo recall or beat saber
or slippery. Thats the word
My “personal” rift is coming tomorrow but gotta wait 3 more days for the third sensor
but the foam ones absorb it
hhhh
hm. Neat.
Bte have you tried the ISS:Mission thing on the oculus store?>
No not yet
Its free and its amazing if youre into astronomy and science
Is it any good?
I spent a good 2 hours there yesterday
Will try it out!
Its a free informative demo of the ISS
Ah
its not the entire model, sadly, but the stuff it has is very cool
Its interactive and you can float in 0g
I got so many games to buy 😛
I’m also very interested in payday 2 VR
oh hell yea its great
Since I played the flat game for almost 1000 hours
its free if you have PD2 aswell
Yup I got everything
Agreed
better to do it with the sticks
Im going to buy Zero caliber as soon as i can aswell
Had tons of fun in the demo
People recommend teleportation against sickness (maybe best for my grandma)
Haha
Is zero Caliber that military game?
Oh btw what are your pc specs?
Never had time to play it
My specs in a nutshell:
Ryzen 5 1600 OC@4ghz
GTX1070 Asus Dual OC+250mhz
16gb DDR4 @3066Mhz (rated 3200 but never stable)
all games are on my Samsung 960 evo SSD
Oh and do you use a USB hub or pci card?
None, I use the ports on my PC
I only got 4 3.0 ports
I have the NZXT S340 Elite which was kinda meant for VR so it has an HDMI passthru on the front
That’s not enough
My mobo iss the B350 Prime plus from asus. Has like 2 USB3 and 2 USB 3.1 ports
I use the sensors on the USB3.1
Yea my case and MB are not meant for VR but my hardware will take it
then i have like 2 USB3 on the front IO and 2 more USB2
I got an old H110
oofie
i5 6600K
GTX 1060 6GB SC
Im planning on rerouting the VR cables by the ceiling so I dont step on them in beat saber LMAO
@limber pond Isn't 4 USB 3.0 ports enough?
@gleaming grove Also need to use my mouse and keyboard sometimes
Oh yeah that will handle everything beautifully. maybe not the higher spec games like Zero caliber at max
Want to keep the rift plugged in
dont you have USB2 ports
Nope
huh
@limber pond Can't you put Mouse and Keyboard on 2.0?
front IO?
lol
Oh wait I’m fucking dumb
or is it 4usb3 in total, like MOBO and fIO?
buy some extensions for them
For the sensors?
Like 1m or 0.5m if you wanna use them for sensors or something
no nvm what was i thinking
sensors on the front will look funny
my friend will 3d print me mounts this week :D
Oh the extra sensor comes with a 5m active cable
its a monoprice usb2 one
Well, im off to beating some sabers til 1am and then I sleep
Gonna do that 6min song again
feels epic
BTW if you gonna play Payday 2 VR, wanna play together sometime?
Im off, cya 👋
👋🏼
If anyone want to sell there vive pro cheap, let me know
@twilit sage How much do you think a used Oculus Rift can go for or is worth?
The hole bundle
if it would be with 3 sensors, touch controllers, cable extensions then about 300-350, maybe even 400 if its less used
if its just what came in the box then depends on how used it is
Why are you asking if I may ask? (that sounded better in my head)
it really depends tbh
Cause I see one for 340 he says he is selling cause his pc is too bad
Huh
That's about right if it's the whole shabang
Because he didn't get to use it much
Actually no if its with the extras it should be like 450
Yeah I would Guess in US is a lot cheaper
Compare to Europe especially where I live (Serbia)
is it worth getting an oculus rift? or does it get boring?
Why did you hate the rift?
I prefer the htc vive than the rift
@strange tusk Why?
I love my rift and it doesnt get boring
people just saying that they like the rift and not saying why lmao
personally, the vive has a bit better viewing angles but nothing that I notice too much. However the Touch controllers are SO MUCH BETTER than the Vive Wii-motes. Ive only tried the vive twice, and I own a Rift
What would be the easiest / fastest way to check if everything works on oculus rift?
You mean like testing if your PC could run VR games ?
No. Like testing if something is broken
Oh, maybe the setup tool, or some kind of developpers tool, that allows you to check if everything is plugged in and have "debuging data" like headset and controllers position, if screen is detected and stuff...
(I only knows Steam VR tools for the Vive, so I hope you'll find some equivalent tools for the Rift)
the Devices tab in the Oculus app gives a quick status on the headset, sensors, and controllers
Just for like I want to buy a used one but to take least time possible to check everything it works
Vive didnt fit glasses as well for me, touch controlers are amazing, and the headset is a lot lighter
I wear glasses so my viewing angles are limited irl
I dont really have peripheral vision
Thats why i liked the rift
Also robo recall is an exclusive
Contacts are a lot nicer in th vive
Also you can play robo recall if you use 'revive' which let's you play exclusive titles on your give @ivory parrot
Controls might be wonky
But i always have used glasses so I never noticed. But, i completely get buying a vive. It has better tracking system
And cameras
Huh, Ive not experienced most of your issues. Thats just my case though
The only issues ive had were badtracking in some games like payday, but thats because Im using the experimental 2 sensor 360 setup
Otherwise its great
By the way i resolved my sensor issue
Support got back and reviewd my account
I have now placed an order!
@twilit sage How much did you pay for it?
I bought it on the official website, so 69 eur @gleaming grove
So annoying how expensive it is in Europe
?
Its the cheapest there is
in EU
you have to consider the import charges and shipping that they pay for when importing into the Netherlands warehouse (or Ireland, idk which one)
Only about 18 usd more in the end
i like with the vive you can just plug the sensors into the wall and they work
I'm not a fan of Rift tracking system too, I much prefer the Vive laser tracking system. And the fact that they only need to be powered by electrictiy is a nice bonus to set them up in a "big" room. Also, as I wear glasses, the Vive was more confortable about this (even if the Rift was more confortable overall but with too much light bleeding for me) and FOV difference is pretty noticable for me
I have fairly wide eyes if that means anything
or widely spaced
glasses are only so wide
the das can fix it though, but thats $99
more money into your already expensive system
I use a headset with my rift but im weird
the vive tracking is also more accurate then the rift
I disagree
I didnt notice any different
The lense spacing mechanisim for the vive is a great thing for this @ivory parrot
Audio and headstrap are things to improve on the Vive (though the jack port is useful with any headset that fits correctly on the vr headset)
im unsure how oculus 2 sensor works
I have used both
and the lens spacing is never really enough
like the vive is fine
i just like the rift better
hense why I bought one
the vive controllers are kind of bad
^^^
@swift knoll Here is an article about laser tracking : https://gizmodo.com/this-is-how-valve-s-amazing-lighthouse-tracking-technol-1705356768
i want the rift controllers with the vive headset
lol
And yeah, Rift controllers are much better (except for Beat Saber) but I'm waiting for Vive Knuckles which looks very promising !
it was just a pain to usb all the things
i also like how the vive is at its maximum tracking potential out of the box
no extra sensors
vive was 800, idk how much rift was
600
And infrared can be interfered very easiely by a lot of things (like a mirror, even if Vive lasers suffers from this problem too, or some kind of IR emitter)
they were effectively the same price originally
i have a mirror in my vr room and i dont have problems with the vive
touch was only 100
fair
Touch was 200
it launched at 200 then later was cut to 100 while the headset dropped to 500
Got my Vive "used" (as new) at 430€ (500 CHF) a year ago
was that og rift with the xbox controler
somewhere in the first paragraph
and the vive sensors go on a wall
so do rift
with the rift you have to either build a mount or put it on a shelf
I am really curious about how the PSVR could look when plugged in to a PC, my boyfriend got one so I may be able to test it a bit
it has a standard mount
nope
you can unscrew the stand
they unscrew
oh
you have to buy a mount, they are like 5 dollars
ok
it was fine
It (PSVR) should have one of the best screen of any VR headset on the market (as it have "effectively" more "real" pixel density than the Rift/Vive, not talking about resolution here, and also better refresh rate)
at first it was two sensors and you at your desk
there was no point to roomscale when you were only using an xbox controller
it was one sensor at first
10 rift sensors
you can do non rectangular spaces now
PSVR can technically do 120Hz but realistically the console cannot drive that with proper graphics
like a hallway and another room?
yes
thats cool
and its interpolation and reprojection tech is inferior to what Oculus and SteamVR provide (and WMR IIRC)
you would need like 6
i also dont like how the more rift sensors, the more usb ports gone
I've learned recently that the Rift and the Vive didn't had "RGB" leds on their screen but some kind of "2-color-leds mesh" which even if they are displaying 2 160×1 200px, they don't have the same pixel density as a regular screen.
how would that work
it's pentile and it doesn't reduce the perceptible resolution much
your eyes are more sensitive to green than blue or red
@rugged walrus That's why I want to test the PSVR on a PC (which is possible with some softwares)
the downside of pentile for VR is just that there tends to be more dark space between pixels, meaning more screen door effect
I got a Vive and I used multiple time a Rift and a PSVR (on a PS4 Pro) @swift knoll
ok
I really want to try out a WMR headset just to see how tracking is performing (as I'm really sensitive to tracking drifts)
Even the PSVR made me sick with its tracking latency
i tried wmr at a microsoft store and the tracking was fine but i didn't like how it cant track the controllers when they're out of the headsets view
Yeah, that's a big downside for me
If the PSVR on PC is looking as great as some are saying on Reddit, I may use it for seatted VR games (like racing games and stuff) and keep the Vive for Roomscale
that would probably work fine
has psvr on pc improved in any way yet? last time i tried its tracking was terrible
How did you get it to work with a PC in the first place?
@twilit sage Do you get any code to activate games on Oculus or you get them as you plug and install rift?
@gleaming grove the latter. I just got them on my oculus account when i set up me rift
@desert socket yeah how the hell did you get it on PC
Did anyone get Zero Caliber VR so far?
My E-Mail : tylermcvicker@yahoo.com Twitter : https://twitter.com/ValveNewsNetwor Twitch : https://www.twitch.tv/valvenewsnetwork Patreon : https://www.patre...
Half-Life 3 confirmed
Omg pokerstars vr is actually great
whats the best way to mount the HTC vive trackers on that cealing
(they need to be on oposite sides of the metal beam because room in my room)
So im considering getting a vr headset
Im thinking an oculus rift or windows mixed reality headset
As the vive is out of my price range
oh
Anyone with any of these devices have anything to say about them?
Cant say much for WMR but I absolutely love my Rift
@twilit sage How long is the warranty?
I think its the standard 2 years
You know its on the website usually right @gleaming grove
And I didnt buy from oculus directly so it may differ
@slow forge just gonna ask if your PC can handle VR first
I gotta 1600x and 1060 6gb
aight
it really depends on your conditions.
Do you have a large open space and places to put up sensors? Do you care a lot about tracking?
If you really want good tracking then WMR isnt for you.
If you dont have much space and want roomscale then Rift isnt for you
Ill measure my room later how large of a space is recommended
No it isnt about measuring
Do you feel like you have enough space for a play area?
Because with the rift the area is going to be a bit smaller than where the sensors are placed
as they cant track anything in 0.5m range
The WMR has its pros:
Cheap
Easy to transport
Much better PPI
Inside out room tracking
Cons:
Meh tracking
doesnt track sensors if you cant see them.
Roughly how much room would you say is needed directly above you
Above? Oh i dont know, but the sensors should be mounted as far up as you can
Im 186cm and my roof is kinda low so its a bummer for me
honestly Id go for the Rift, but you should do your own research
I also never did I saw I have some decent space and if I need more I can move some stuff around
@hushed pond How are you playing vR at 1920 x 1080???? Doesn’t it make you sick?
the official one sucks though
on official your controllers are just a xbox controller
on vivecraft allows you to teleport or free move
I tried minecraft in VR... why fortnite battle royale vr is not a thing yet? 👍 If you enjoyed this video hit that "like" button and Subscribe! 🔔 Don't forget...
and you can hit mobs with your hands
@sullen linden i wasnt at 1080p
i was at full res of the hmd
that just the mirror res
@twilit sage its called vivecraft and the official one suck. Vivecraft allow physical movement like swimming. Climbing. mining or attacking. And more physical stuff is under development like this.
https://i.imgur.com/L3VteWM.mp4
Everything is vanilla compatible meaning you can do that on regular minecraft server
huh, cool
so its completely clientside?
What vivecraft update is that?
what are the bad parts of owning a rift, fov, gets boring?
Like all the headsets right now, higher resolution is desirable, but mostly its just the sheer power you need on the PC side. I've never really had problems with the FoV, it's a goggle effect but I've rarely found it detrimental. Gameplay wise, depends on what you like to play, but titles like beatsaber are practically endless fun.
The worst part is probably the cost compared to the speed the technology is advancing. If you've got the money its great fun, but if its a scrounge and save type item for you, it'll be outdated in a few years in all likelihood.
It's one of the things I can't recommend highly enough after you've got a beefy rig and everything else for your gaming interests set up and good to go. It's comparable to racing wheels and flight sticks. If you really are into it, its worth it and will transform how you play the relevant games. Otherwise, probably better ways to spend the money.
So uh what suspension system do you guys use for the cable?
the floor
I’ve been considering trying to suspend the cable from the ceiling but with room scale freedom I fear it would just get in the way of arm movements, unless I had some really clever adjustable tension reel system
How do you guys think that an RX580 8GB and a R5 1600 would perform on an htc vive? I want to get one but I find that all the benchmarking softwares contradict each other with totally different results on the same load tests
My GTX 1060 6gb and a AMD FX 6300 overclocked to 4.2ghz works really good with a mixed reality headset that has higher resolution than the vive, for comparison
Have you ran the steam vr benchmark?
Hey a got a question
Should I buy a Vive?
it's like just 350€ if i buy second hand
(or something else, i dunno what's better)
Haven't personally used a vive but I do own a steam vr compatable headset
Can your PC run it?
of course!
I bought a mixed reality headset for about 2 or 3 months ago and I got it for about 250$ and it's great fun
do you if others mixed reality / VR headsets from brands like HP / Dell / Acer are worth it?
does it do the same things as vive / rift?
i guess the brands don't build them, it's probably from 1 or 2 manufacturers...
I have the HP one and it's slightly lower FOV than the vive
1440x1440 resolution than the vive and I've heard that it makes a noticable difference
But....
It's not an oled screen
uh? which one 1440x1440?
the HP one
I think that's what the resulution is
And controller tracking is worse
seems pretty nice for VR headsets right?
Yes you don't really see the pixels
but i guess all games don't work on every single headsets? like it's probably more for vive / rift ?
Almost every VR game on steam has Vive support
i tried Rift this week end and it's not very smooth
Huh what was lacking?
i mean you see pixels easily
so between vive and rift what would you take?
Hard choice
I had always wanted a VR headset and when I saw one with good reviews and 50% off it was a no brainier
i'd like to try with so games that i have but if i buy VR headsets i'll probably play with it a bit and then use it 2 times a year ><
and considering it costs at least about 350€ it's not something i can just go for
I use mine about 3 times a week for a few hours
u use it for what?
Recently a lot of eurotruck simulator 2 and payday 2
i'd use it mainly for Assetto Corsa
Ok
and maybe some other games
it should be very nice for eurotruck 🤔
for driving games VR headsets are 👌
well they should
Yes but it has some preformance problems and it's a minor pain to get working
Yes and flying
Warthunder has excellent VR support
GTX 1060 6gb and amd fx 6300 overclocked to 4.2
Alright I've got to go now I'll be back in an hour
@errant glacier sorry I didn’t respond earlier (it was 3am where I am) but yes I have ran the steam benchmark and I got “optimimum for running high quality vr
If steam vr performance test says your good you should be fine
No problem btw
Thx
@robust warren I have tried the vive and I own the rift. I can say that the Vive has a slightly better FOV and better tracking, but I prefer the Rift. IMO its more comfortable, the controllers are much, MUCH better than the vives Wii motes, and its cheaper.
If you want great tracking WMR isnt an option, because if the controllers are out of your sight they just stop getting tracked.
An OLED screen is a must IMO, because it has near instant response time compared to LCD.
.
Im going to use the A sensor setup now for mounting my 3rd sensor, as the one where you place the 3rd one in the middle doesnt work in my room. Problem is my 2 sensors are behind me, as in on the opposite side of the PC. is there a way to reverse my direction on the Rift?
Distance between red sensors in my case is 2.5m, and wall distance between left right and blue is 2m.
no risk of screen burning with vive / rift? for example if i get one i'll play assetto corsa mainly so the HID could burn it
burn in? Nah mate, dont think so
also the SDE you talked about earlier. Its visible on all headsets but your mind ignores it.
and i dont have enought place in my room to play with controlers so it would be mainly just with the headsets
SDE - Screen Door effect, where you can see the pixels
oh?
If you dont have much room for sensors then WMR would be great for you
(i was saying that because it's an oled screen)
Get the Odyssey+ in that case
great screen, great build
havent used it but other reviewers are praising it
but i'll have more like in a year so i may use tracking and controlers later
oh
then its up to you really
anyway, going to mount the sensor now. Cya in a moment
nope
And I'm just starting to get infos about it, if i buy VR headsets it's really not in a month, i need to think about it
EU
but i'm on a forum where some guys sell Vive or Rift for about 350€
Hello again
hey
made a descsion yet?
no i'm just getting some informations i don't plan to buy anytinh now
as i said if i buy VR stuff i'll probably use it twice a month so for a at least 350€ investment it's.. meh
This pokerstars vr is fantastic
I'd played poker vr games before but this is so well done
Probably one of if not the best social vr experience I've had
@sullen linden its actually so good
There's no real money involved or anything
but people are playing pretty realistically
so its a great way to learn
plus its just straight up fun
Reminder that vive port has 5 great games for 1usd each! Works on WMR and Oculus according to reddit.
yeah, I just bought Arizona Sunshine. I've been waiting for it to go on special, didn't expect it to be selling for so cheap. Just waiting for it to finish downloading. Yay australian crappy slow internet.
this channel could use some more Echo Combat hype 😄
do the htc vive sensores come like this in the box if u buy the normal vive or do they come whit the mounting
whit this kinda mounting
good
Yeah, wall mounts are included
Picked up all 5 games
AFAIK you can install viveport, install the games, launch them once so they appear in steamVR, and then uninstall viveport and they're still there
Which is what I will do because viveport is a steaming piece of garbage
By the way, because of the free trial, I get to claim 5 games or something? Or is that a subscriber thing
Now I will have more games to play. Was playing just beatsaber beforehand
Still gonna play mostly beatsaber though
Anyone else here try the new Echo Combat DLC? I love the new maps, didn’t expect it to be much more than the maps tested in the betas
I bought it... I was in every beta test
I haven't setup my rift in a while...
So I don't know what to expect. But I'm excited...
Idk I may set it up this weekend/tonight
Haven’t been using my oculus much, but I have been waiting for the Echo Combat to drop for a long time.
I've been playing echo combat a ton
It's fantastic
The changes they've made in the final release make everything really well balanced.
And the new maps are awesome
The way that base station is mounted really fucking bothers me.
My slightly janky method of mounting a secondary VR camera for streaming :P
Nice
So I'm looking at getting a htc vive pro, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to get it, play 3 hours of it, get bored of it and never use it again. what should i do?
if you can find somewhere to try out a VR headset that would help, otherwise maybe get a cheaper one than the Vive Pro
It's a haptic, full-body suit that lets you feel the force in VR. And it hurts! Read about it on CNET: https://cnet.co/2JZcvIX Subscribe to CNET: https://www...
Tesla suit looks like it's coming along
The time has come for Team KAT VR to start preparing new gameplays for you. Please feel free to submit your requests in the comments and let us know which PS...
@rugged walrus thanks!
cheers
oculus quest is going to be lit
@elder moon vive pro is very niche and really should only be bought if you already have a beast of a computer, you already have tried pcvr (and you love it), and you have cash to throw. Just try the rift or vive because the price of the vive pro is so much to swallow for such little game coverage.
Does anyone here used both oculus rift and lenovo explorer? I'm looking for a vr headset and controllers and im willing to give about 250€ forit. Just lookinjg to see if the difference is THAT huge or if there are any big cons
I'm going to buy on black friday
Anyone knows if Oculus will be in the black friday/cyber monday?
Echo combat is so much goddamn fun
Is anyone else (particularly those who already own a Rift or a Vive) considering buying the Oculus Quest?
I was excited at the announcement and initially was thinking I would skip it and wait for a Gen 2 device since I already have the Rift CV1, but I've come around to the idea of buying one for chilling out and watching shows, playing around with development etc.
I wish they had more info on the conceptual pass-through they briefly displayed as this would be a must-buy for me.
it's a very nice standalone device, but I'm not going to buy it since I have a Rift
Watch a vid about it
Finally setup my vive with project cars
Its hard to see in the distance though anything I can do to fix that?
@sullen linden There is no "best" HMD, only the one that suits you best
Who is a go to to learn about it? People are saying the vive some the rift... I'm not in a big area and the controllers on the rift are better apparently and if that saves me £200 I'll get that
@narrow root @twilit sage
The rift is cheaper than the vive but im still getting a vive
And also valve is working in realy cool controlers for the vive
Those kucles thing? eeeeeeh
What?
The knuckles are amazing but they wont come out anytime soon
so after playing SUPERHOT VR and squeezing the triggers very hard for that super ability I noticed that my right touch controller trigger sunk in a bit and has less travel distance,
Anyone else have this?
Ok, lets do a vote... Oculus or Vive
Oculus - Sun Emoji Below
Vive - Moon Emoji Below
im curios who is on what side
trying to justify your purchase?
im for the vive
Cool, you may have your preference
I personally prefer the Oculus because of the controllers and price here locally, as well as HTC being assholes
Their customer support is just outright garbage
ok
not Valve, but HTC (because theyre the ones making the HW for the Vive)
The other day they tried to charge 300$ for a simple strap attachment thing repair
the one that attaches the strap to the HMD itself
The guy ended up asking to send it back and just repaired it by 3D printing the parts
lol
One sec Ill get you the link so you know im not bullshitting you
ok
ok
Was declared NSFB (Not safe for brand) because mods think it hurts the brand (HTC)
lol
I just finished reading the whole thing and wow, thanks for the heads up. But if i was going to get the vive i would get the pro so i would not have this problem but thanks for letting me know about the bad support!
how would getting the pro solve this? Curious
the vive pro uses a different way to adjust its distance from your face
oh, alright. Support would be the same Id guess though
yes
Oculus support is pretty great but its kind of slow IMO
Lol
Still you'd end up with the same crappy support 😛
also, one thing I would say is, TRY the vive pro and oculus before you make a choice
Cause two things to note:
-
the vive pro has supersampling set to 1.4 by default, which means it appears clearer. So set supersampling of it to 1, or whatever you're comparing against to 1.4 to get an ACTUAL 1 to 1 comparison
-
the vive pro upped the resolution, but they re-used the same crappy lenses, meaning that the SDE is still pretty damn bad
Also, oculus is $349 again for black friday 😃
For the guys who use Oculus, does everyone use Steam here or the Oculus store?
whichever has a better deal on the game im looking for at the time
I was hearing some stuff about the Oculus Store not being a long term solution 😢
But okay, at least im not the only one lol
i know about one game you can only buy on the ocolus store
im using all three
Steam, Oculus store and viveport
Ok lads, small issue
My right touch trigger is a bit sunk in
Kinda broke it after squeezing it too hard
any known fix?
@coral raft ill use steam for anything that offers native oculus sdk support
But it it only runs in steamVR then I'll get it on oculus. Store.
Some games let you run in either steamVR mode or oculus sdk mode. Some only do steamvr
Though honestly the games I play most are oculus exclusives (echo arena/echo combat mostly)
Yeah the echo series is great @full lotus. Thanks for the input 😃
@twilit sage I've taken a few controllers apart before, there's not really a fix 😦
Hm, sad. Messaged support and theyre looking into it
I had something similar after I whacked my controller against a wall and oculus sent me a new one for free.
Oculus support is top notch
For real? @full lotus
What was the process?
Did you just send a video of it, and they got back like "Ah yea chap, bad luck that one. Have a new one for free"
My issue started when i played SUPERHOTVR. WHen you get that mind bending ability where you squeeze the controller and you kill the enemy right?
Well I was so immersed that I squeezed like my life was on the line this one level
Then next day i noticed "huh the trigger is weird"
Now today while playing accounting+ I whacked the controller against the ceiling and now it wont register properly
jezz
im 186cm and my ceiling is very low
I hope I get the same treatment as Golden did
Anyone got any good VR games they could recommend me? I've got a HTC Vive
Surely you've heard of beat saber
@sullen linden beat saber, SUPERHOT VR, accounting+, Arizona sunshine, the lab, job sim, onward, pavlov... The list goes on
Update on my controller story: oculus replied lightning fast requesting my serial numbers, proof of purchase, etc. I think they're sending a new one!
@twilit sage
How can I increase clarity of things far away in vr
@sullen linden There is no direct way of doing it, but disabling or decreasing AA, scaling up or using a higher res HMD are the first things that come to mind
Damn
BY THE WAY! Deal alert! If you sub to VIVEPORT for 3 months (and if you got the free trial you got 10$ in your wallet like 2 days ago) you will get Fallout 4 VR for 12 USD (if you got the 10$ code) on Steam
The codes will be sent out on the 30th of November
What is vive port
its like an another store for VR but it supports indies or some shit
Its subscription service allows you to get exclusive deals and claim 5 games for a month each month
So say you wanna play SUPERHOT. You claim it among 4 other games and play it that month
When the month ends the 5 games get taken away and you choose 5 new ones
What is the best way to get into vr
get a GTX 1060 or better then pair it with a windows mixed reality headset. Alternatively save for a Vive or whatever valve is about to put out.
Why not Rift?
Yeah Oculus has way more games then vive?
Rift does roomscale just fine, and is still cheaper with a third sensor
Ok
I have a decent pc
@raven mantle Allright so what i usually suggest to my friends is this. Are you going to play games or just consume entertainment stuff?
If its entertainment then just get a daydream headset or the oculus go
If its games, then it gets more complicated
If you have a ps4/ps4 Pro then get PSVR (that's if your pc can't handle Vr)
If you have nor a good pc nor a ps4 wait for the quest
If you however have a pc that handles Vr well, then there's WMR (I would suggest the Dell, Samsung, Asus and Lenovo ones, but primarily Samsung), the rift and the vive
Personally I can't justify the vive for myself. It's pros are very hreat tracking and official wireless support.
The cons however are the price, the controllers and the customer service
The rift is a very good alternative to the vive. It CAN do 2 sensor 360 roomscale (did it while I waited for the 3rd sensor) and it does it OK, but the 3 sensor setup works really great. The controllers are way better IMO and to me the rift feels more comfortable.
WMR I don't know much about. I've heard from Blunty (a YouTube channel) that the Dell Visor is much more comfortable than the vive or rift because of the halo ring style headstrap.
The only issue I think I would have is the tracking. You see, it tracks via camera. Both the room and the controllers. So if the controllers aren't seen by it, they won't get tracked!
But it's a very mobile setup, and it's also very cheap!
Another con would be older games that aren't supported though.
ok
so this is a lot but how cheap is "But it's a very mobile setup, and it's also very cheap!"
@twilit sage
@raven mantle Depends on what region youre in. If youre in the USA, then you can get a Lenovo Explorer, used OR refurb, starting at about 180 USD and about 250-300 new
If youre in the EU then Id just get an oculus or the odyssey+ new
you are on your own on that one bud. I only know that its been suggested by many, so please do your own research
np
@twilit sage Did your controllers come with the batteries included?
They do
Are they rechargeable and did you need to but a charger for them?
frankly im having a pig of a week
A lot of shit besides
issues with my oculus
So on monday I finally mount the 2m passive extensions for the headset
Pass them to the MOBO and Videocard, no probs. Worked like a fucking charm
Fast forward to TODAY and the headset starts to black out
I wouldnt mind but I was in beatsaber doping some Expert+ songs and holy fuck did i get pissed
Now it just blacks out like every half a minute
And playing without the extenders is a pain, the cable just dangles on the floor instead of hanging from the ceiling and whenever i have to duck in beatsaber it falls off and i have to like shake it back on
@gleaming grove it comes with batteries. No idea if theyre rechargable
@rugged walrus Did you have any issues with your passive cables?
They were flawless but today its just NGHGHGH
Is the vive cheaper for black friday?
Cant you check yourself?
I did but I couldnt find any retailers that did I was wondering if there were any that anyone knew of
What region?
Greenland
@twilit sage no, it works the same way with the extensions as it did before
yep
Any great VR game deals?
Love Beat Saber
its not an offer but join his stream or die XD
@twilit sage I finally ordered my rift! It will arrive Thursday because of Black Friday chaos
Have you guys been having really dumb issues with your vives? Both my personal Vive and the Vive we have at my work stopped working and nothing I did got them working again, then we just kind of waited a few weeks and they started working again
@wooden token the steam sale has many great games on sale right now. If you sub to viveport for 3 months you will get Fallout 4 VR on steam for free aswell!
@limber pond aye, welcome! I'm waiting for my replacement right touch controller, support is currently processing it.
Wait, the rift?
Yup!
Damn, have fun then. Robo recall is great and comes bundled
@twilit sage Are u here?
Im seeing a lot of light from my nose
Anyone knows how to deal with that?
@limber pond yeah I'm here. No I've never noticed that. Probably different nose size
I only play in a dark room though
Because I'm in middle Sweden it gets dark real fast
Adjust the strap more @limber pond
Try to rotate the actual headset downward
I’ll just try a dark room
@twilit sage Ty btw, but I got a problem......
One of the buttons doesn’t work anymore
😢
Yea they want the whole package
I bought it off an official reseller so I was able to get a new one thru oculus directly
My webshop is an official reseller
huh
Well, at least youre getting a new set lmao
get to experience the fresh smell again
Oculus just needed a video of the issue and in a few hours they just asked for my proof of purchase and my shipping address
Hey at least its a free replacement
I was afraid that Oculus would ask me to send it for RMA and then say that I have to pay
but nah they cool as hell
Unlike HTC cough cough
Do you know what I think vives biggest problem with viveport is? I have no idea what it is. I have been somebody that's been following VR on and off but rather heavily for since around the Vive came out but I have no idea what viveport is or why I would ever want it. I have a Vive, I manage a Vive at work, but I have no idea what it does. Maybe if I knew what it did I'd want it so maybe they should do better marketing.
@limber pond @twilit sage This is why you should have got the HTC Vive 😉
@steady bear Viveport is basically just Steam but for VR
I much prefer the room it puts you in with Steam VR tbh
I have not had any issues with my rift
I'm planning on getting a thrid Oculus sensor does it work if I mount it near the ceiling, while the other sensors are more on table height?
@hexed raft Get a HTC Vive
sry not enough money -_-
and I have not that of a convinent room shape that you need for the vive ... any more ideas?
Yes
@sullen linden Not really a great argument for a 200 dollar more
Higher sensor placement os good
Also I got no space for room scale
All of mine are on ceiling
I got 2 on my desk now, 3th is on the way
@limber pond I love my HTC Vive so much, it's my baby 😩
😐
I love my rift too
Yeah, I give it the nutrients from the sweat of my forehead 😂
hey , no
Does that even work?
Of course, why shouldn’t it
My vive lighthouses are on the ceiling, pointing down at me
I thought the lighthouses were supposed to have to face eachother for it to work correctly
So sensor placement on different heights works with oculus?
That's how I have mine set up, both at the same height on opposite sides of the ceiling
@hexed raft yes
@sullen linden That’s not required
Well it seems to work much better
My friend has a Rift and it feels like ass compared to the vive
Oh that explains that then
I play 360
Dab
Can you dab with the Rift?
Omg I want a full body VR suit so I can go in VRChat and just start doing Fornite dances
you jsut have to buy trackers
like 7
for extreme full body
1 for every joint
119€ each
Sweet
I'll get some for my HTC Vive one day
Twerking in VR 😩
I also wish that instead of controller, it used gloves
Something like the Nintendo Powerglove
But not garbage
there are gloves
but all of them are kickstarter
there is also a "u cann fell if someone shots you in the torso" jacket
@sullen linden for shitty customer care? Compared to oculus HTC is a nightmare to deal with
@twilit sage Maybe because customer care isn't needed as often because the HTC Vive isn't made out of toothpaste 😬
I've full on whacked my HTC Vive controllers against the wall and they still work perfectly, meanwhile Rifts are having controller issues 5 minutes after being used
there are realy good vr gloves and you can feel tuch and hot and cold whit them but them are very work in progress and not comorcial avalible at all
My left controller has kissed my ceiling so much at this point. But it still works
Perfectly
I can't justify buying a Vive because if a small thing breaks HTC will try to juice as much money as possible out of me.
I bet they will tell you to buy a new controller of the trigger breaks.
Then don't break it?
Not an argument
Well it kind of is
Especially when the Rift's controllers are breaking themselves 😂
The Vive controllers are robust, you'd have to really abuse them to break them
...I can't take you seriously
It's a defect
Riiight
Defects aren't caused by user use
It's caused by the manufacturing being poor
No, defects always happen.
Well can you explain the strap joint breaking on the vive while adjusting IPD then?
And that HTC charges 270 eur for a DEFECT?
repair it yourself then
You need to 3d print a part
omprovise , adapt , overcome
Aye lmao
I'll disassemble my right touch to check what happened with the trigger after I get shipping confirmation. Its not broken, like it works, but the placement of it is wrong.
i will get vive at cristmas
Oh look, he's looking for confirmation of his opinion
I'm not saying one or the other is superior, what I'm saying is that you're stupid.
sometimes
lmao
ok have fun with your broken rift 😬
@twilit sage Is there a mod for payday 2 so I can use locomotion instead of tele
My rift isn't broken?
they are both what they are and everybody can like what they like
but everybody can hate apple
thats ok
On discord?
@narrow root If you're going to play any games where you're in space, you'll love the HTC Vive
rift noob
Or on payday?
I was in Rec room....
i will love the vive no matter what i play
But idk how to use the mic there
On discord you have to manually switch the sources and outputs
Ah
On rēc room it activates when you talk
I hated recroom. Its fun but I can't play when 12 year olds are screeching down my ears
Play robo recall. You got it with the touch controllers
Yea ikr
Also try mission:iss
Just downloaded it, the broken controller irritates me
@sullen linden just shut up, you're not adding anything to the conversation.
I get that you're having buyers remorse but stop stuffing it down our throats
While playing robo recall today I didn't notice the controller being broken today. Just forgot about it.
I've had my Vive for 4 months and unlike yours mine hasn't broken after 1 month of use^^;
That’s just luck
Luck at getting defective units :)
Or not buying things made out of toothpaste
If viveport just steam for VR then why would I pay for it?
@sullen linden Stop ur bullshit talk
Just use Steam VR
@steady bear OK here's how viveport works. It's a platform for VR artists where they can showcase their work as well as games.
However it's a subscribtion service
Which means that each month, you get to download 5 games of your choice to play.
It's prefect for games like SUPERHOT that don't have much replay ability if you're not into challanges
@steady bear You're much better off just using Steam unless your Vive came with a free code for a month subscription for Viveport
Also if we're talking about reliability they're actually pretty robust. The vive I had was bought it launched used at a home for a while then used in a VR arcade for somewhere around 18 to 26 months and then I have been using it for the last few months and it doesn't really have any issues
Just bought Pavlov and I expect you to die
@steady bear Lol of course they are
WHY didn't you buy beat saber?
It's the Rift that is made outta tubby custard
@twilit sage Alright alright buying it now
Beat Saber is really really good
The rift? The HMD is made of toothpaste? You are lost
Earlier you tried to prove oculus is garbage because of the controller but now you're saying that the actual HMD is bad? I don't get what you're trying to say here
@limber pond Berlin blitz is a fun experience if you're into ww2. The lab is a MUST TRY imo
I’ll try it out
1943 Berlin blitz. You're put into a Lancaster bomber with 2 BBC reporters
Sounds good
With original recordings and recreation of what happened hour fot hour
For*
Yeah it was :D
But my tracking is not the best ATM, and not gonna bother to set it up correctly
It's an experience, not a game
Wtf are you on about
@limber pond just set up one on a shelf and the other on the opposite end, somewhere up high
thats not the headsets foult
Aye
Yeah I wouldn't in case they break too
You have mounts?
Yea wall mounts
It didn't even come with wall mounts?
Also I really need a hook on the ceiling for the hdmi en usb
It came with stands. Oculus doesn't officially endorse 360 tracking
Wow
But they do support it.
😬
I’m gonna try to move the sensors now for some 360ish with 2 sensors
When I played robo recall with 2 sensor 360 it was great. The only issue I had was in accounting because of my small play space.
Oculus does officially support their roomscale config
^
Yeah is said that they support it but don't endorse it.
Also, @rugged walrus, I found why my oculus was blacking out. It was viveport lmao
lol GG HTC
Why did you have Viveport installed with an Oculus Rift...
Pretty Excited to see what will we talk here in a year from now
@limber pond just get passive 2m extensions from ugreen, or active ones to be 200% sure
@sullen linden the 5 games for 1 dollar each deal
The extra sensor comes with a 5m extension cord right?
what cable do the vive trackers use
Does the 3th sensor need 3.0 usb?
I tried Viveport but I just didn't like it, so now I just use SteamVR
@narrow root none, just a power outlet.
The room that it puts you in is really nice 👌
oh
@limber pond no, it uses usb2
Have you guys customised your SteamVR room?
so can i just use extension boxes to have a longer cable on the htc lighthouses
Not yet, I did my face though
I used a sensor with 2 passive extensions once, 2m each. It worked great, just converted itself to USB2 :P
What do you mean you did your face
I think he meant the avatar
Oh snap I forgot to do my avatar
I have a bathtub on my head in steam VR, whenever it loads the home that is
In SteamVR you just customise a body-less HTC Vive headset and HTC controllers (or whatever you have)
@narrow root no the lighthouses are wireless. All they need is a power source from either a battery or a power outlet.
