probably dont get much road rage
considering you are likely to bump into eachother alot outside of vehicles
My town is only 23k
In the village no, only thing is I have to watch out for random dogs on the streets (or sometimes sheep, horses and even 1 time a donkey
0.88 square mile apparently
The town I want to move to has a population of 2.4k
Is this nearly 3 times as big as mine?
everythings so close together here that a town isnt really on its own
Tbh I wouldn't want to live in a city or anything

Whose car alarm is going off, jesus
||hides||
Some random Dodge Dart I've never seen on my street before
probably stolen
And I think parked behind it is a Chrysler Voyager I think? Also never seen it
probably not as bad as my neighbours new yaris which decided it was going to sound the horn unless the engine was running and it was in reverse gear
they sat out there holding the clutch in for hours
probably stolen
@stoic ledge they've been doing construction on my street lately so I doubt
they wouldnt let me disconnect the battery, got them to try stalling it which worked for the most part
I still think it's whack that I have to press the clutch to start the Corolla
The RX-7 doesn't have a clutch lockout
lol my dad was in a car recently that has that
they wouldnt let me disconnect the battery, got them to try stalling it which worked for the most part
Pull zhe fuse
yeah thought about that after
I can start mine without clutch
Can't start the Meriva without it tho
if you dont do it on the car my dad was in it comes on the screen "press clutch to start" so he lets go of the key pressed the clutch in and releases
hes like why hasnt it started
I've forgotten the RX-7 is on gear and cranked before lel
I've also driven with the starter before
I always get in, press brake + clutch, put it in neutral and then start it
ive forgotten my engine isnt running before and tried to launch
lol
car infact did not move
In the Corolla I just clutch start and release clutch
in a big city with traffic chaos here i tried to do a hard launch at lights, was in neutral.
sat there revving my engine to the moon and i swear it has the most horrible rev hang
The RX-7 rev hangs for some reason. The Corolla does nkt
mines does it for some emissions reason
Yea that's why modern manuals rev hang
Pretty sure the RX-7 only rev hangs bc of something broken or otherwise not functioning correctly
i want to get the ecu done just for the throttle response
doesent really do much in terms of power
My town is 15k people
those steelies were filled with so much dirt
now I must buy the right size of tire
and see if they are all balanced
Nice. Street park them as well?
Because street parking such vehicle would be the ultimate flex.
@civic girder I changed plugs on my ride yesterday, cylinder number 4 had some bad corroison, ended up with stripped threads in the cylinder head.
oof
I know the plugs are worn pretty badly
Make sure you let the engine reach normal operating temps first then atleast, and use some crc or some other loosening spray.
One of the challenges with working on older cars hehe, no matter what You're about to do nothing ever goes the way you planned it to. Thats something you quickly learn lol, a Five minute plug replacement can end up being 5 hour cylinder head thread repair
I took the plugs out last week without issues, so I think I'll be fine
I have changed the plugs on my RX-7 numerous times without issues as well
Yeah its like 99% of the time its not an issue, just that 1% it really fucking sucks
the only time I encountered problems was on my Prius, but that was super edge case
I've done plenty of plug changes aswell, I've repaired 2 plug threads, one on my friends car and now today on mine.
What model is your rx7?
Nice! I really prefer the older classics. Not so fan of new cars tbh
same
I like Mazda rotaries and 90s Toyotas
Yeah they are awesome engines
70-90's there are so many cool cars, for relatively cheap aswell
I bought the Corolla for $280
I might try and find another, nicer, 7th gen Corolla
Pretty much building up the entire car from ground up with new parts and a lot of custom stuff.
esp since I was thinking about rotary swapping this one...
and I want to buy a Previa
apparently there was an accident downtown lel
oof
this grill
Blame China. (Don't kill me China)
This just looks cheap
China loves them big grilles.
And china will hate the Passat b3
https://www.mansory.com/car/fortwo-wide-body#1
why does this exist
It kind of looks like BMW took a rolls royce and put a bmw grill on it
I know bmw owns them
But I tlooks like that
Out of place
I could put in on a Bentley and call it a bwm then
What about that Aston Cygnet?
But also - There was that one guy who made Aston Martin put a Vantage drive-/powertrain in a Cygnet.
Because why not?
I want the cygnet V8
Studded or nah?
nah
just some some M+S tires that wont let me crash in to a tree
the abolute cheapest tire I could buy brand new are Imperial Snowdragon HP
The what now?
those are way too expensive for my car
are falken or toyo good?
it is difficult to find tires for 14 inch rims
at least to the with my car needs
You can order 14" wheels on literally every tire website
Bridgestone Blizzaks bro
LMFAO
Is now blacc
4 bolts and the hood comes off.
4 bolts
More like 4 welds
I hate rust
You can order 14" wheels on literally every tire website
@stoic ledge but I'm talking used
@fathom socket Ehm? Are you trying to tell me that the hood is welded on to the hinges? Come on man..
And removing the bolts and replacing them was so fricking exhausting
Too much work
How is loosening 4 bolts exhausting? You dont work on cars much do you? π
Yeah fair haha
Yeah blame whoever decided to weld it in the first place lol
NGK BKR6EGP's?
Haha yeah
But this car also has like 180k miles on it with a questionable history
aka, I know virtually nothing about how well it was maintained
Yeah, better to take precautions then and just replace the cheap service parts.
Has this car been driven in the winter with road salt involved? I can see rust on some parts you rarely see rust on. Like the wire mount on the throttle body.
ironically, the car isn't very rusty at all
lol
ooof
I took the windshield out of the car aswell, and when I lifted the window out about half of the upper part of the window frame came with it..
It was extremely rusty there
oof
All sorted now tho, but its been a lot of hours
The window frame can't be bought as a spare part either, so I went and bought some 1.5mm sheet metal plate from a machine shop, got them to chop it up into 30cm long segments and fold a 90 degree angle on them. And I fabricated and welded a new frame.
You wont either really, unless you are doing a full restoration on a car.
You dont really discover all of the rust and flaws unless you start picking stuff apart.
true
Its kinda funny, but also depressing
the Corolla's powerband takes a massive dive off a cliff after 4k rpm
Its so weird revving a car out to redline and it feel so underwhelming as the power falls off
Which engine?
7A-FE
Thats the 1.6 litre right?
No, the 1.8L
Ah
the 1.6L was the 4A-FE
Oh right yeah
In comparison, the RX-7 surges in power after about 5k rpm
The RX-7 is getting some surface rust where paint has chipped back to bare metal
and is getting a bit rusty behind the front wheels where rock chips peeled back the undercoat
ooof yea
less rust than my 2010 mazda 2
If thats true, that just goes to show how old cars where made to last.
the mazda 2 just sucks for corrosion
it mainly depends on how well the car was cared for
and is sorta made to be disposable
NB miatas are tragic too
sills more like water tank
Well yeah ofc Eastman, but this car is from 1972. And was used in winter here in Norway, which means tons of road salt that literally eats away on your car.
This was the RX-7 when I picked it up
Altough back in the 70's and 80's they didnt really use salt, that was mostly a thing in the 90's and up until now
The car was also stored outside for 4 years
ironically, that wasn't the only time the car has been on a trailer since I've owned it
nor was it the only time it was on a trailer that day
i drive the 2 on gravel roads, spin the front wheels a decent amount maybe i need mudflaps
totally didnt see it last minute
ah, I see
so 7A-FE makes peak power at 5k rpm it seems
and peak torque at 2800rpm
vs the 12A making peak power at 7k and peak torque at around 5.5k iirc
so it sounds like I'm going to have to get used to short shifting it to get the most out of it
im thinking about getting a peak shitbox to slightly modify for offroading
The most annoying thing with heavy rust repair is that the metal you are welding the new metal into is usually incredibly thin. So its not easy to get a good/pretty weld. Not that it really cares wether it looks good or not when its just going to get grinded and painted over anyway.
someones welded new sills on a 1998 astra shitbox, strange.
Yea, if I want to get a bit serious with auto cross I'll probably rotary swap the Corolla
if I really really like the car when its time to rotary swap, I'll buy a pristine car for my collection while my clapped shitbox one can be the rotary meme machine
id love to swap a engine into that rusty astra but cant afford the insurance, no sleeper for me.
but it also depends on how well I get acclimated to the stock engine, and how much power I could realistically add with minor mods
could just find a higher power vauxhall engine and hope they dont notice
lol
then the "oh how did that get in there" routine
so it seems like if you tune them up, a 7A-FE can make over 200hp and around 180lb-ft on stock rods
but that's also the MR2 version, not the economy spec Corolla version
that thing supposedly made 100hp and weights like 800kg
apparently its heavily air restricted so there was a big difference between the 1.6 vs the 1.8 and 2.0
if there was parts to build the vauxhall engine id totally build it up but doubtful
no wonder it feels slow if it drops below 100lb-ft at redline

nice
That crow just gives so much mood
yeee
Gud car
do a donut in the snow
hey guys does anyone have any recs for first cars
i just need something that i can work on really easily
and is a ton of in the twisties
Maybe Subaru BRZ?
ok then
1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7
that was my first car and is my only car at the moment
using it as a daily driver
lol
Corolla
@frank steeple how old are you if your first car is from 1967!?
16
but i thought buttons > touchscreen
tbf only issue i would see with the button arrangement is the seat adjustments
It's funny how getting an Aston is the only way to get the AMG 4.0 V8 with a stick.
how much did that cost?
i seen the RX7 car and knew what was coming
LMFAO
this cant be real can it?
That's an oof
@civic spoke interesting shifter with down for first
that sounds like a motor from the 30s lmao
That doesnt sound healthy, doesnt sound like its running on all cylinders at all
^ I second both of these posts
its a spare part car btw
he has a pretty mint 1972 ford granada too
@civic girder @errant dagger
Alright yeah fair, I know exactly what that ticking sound is, its the valves. Its not necessarily bad or damaging. But more so annoying really, its quite normal on some of the older engines. Both of my b230's have that exact same sound.
I have ptsd from valve tick
Well its very rarely damaging tbh, its almost always caused by improper lifter spacing, which will happen overtime as the engine wears.
How was the valve seat? could have just replaced the valve if it was fine, would have been a lot cheaper hehe
You didnt pull the head off?
I didn't do any of the work, so no
It would be pretty fun if automakers offered a fuel economy package.
Like Chevy or Honda did in years past.
Lower gearing, tuned engine, and aero goodies.
@charred depot Those are called doglegs.
58 Fury?
supra
nah thats not a supra
that's a viper lol
that is a Healthy Sound: #cars message
Video: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/375461451403624471/776910103152164954/VID_20201113_214204.mp4
Ooooh
What a straight piped 1972 ford granada sounds like
Sounds somewhat rich in in fuel/air ratio, otherwise really deep and growling sound
Awesome shot of that beemer
@fathom socket I mean it is a spare part car we just straight piped for the lols
oh i see
It's spare parts for this btw
Now China wants to ban the sales of gas powered cars by 2030.
I'm honestly curious to see how the market will adapt... and how regulation will help the switch.
I mean the UK said the same thing.... but China being a more authoritarian country they might actually keep their word
It wasn't just the UK I believe. Tho other EU countries are talking about it in 2050.
2030 is super aggressive imo.
These places want to go from 2% to 100% of new cars being battery. Problem is California's infrastructure isn't ready at all.
China and the EU/UK have good regulations in place. unified plug standard is huge.
lol
id make an offer for 45 hope they accept
just coz the'res a couple scratches in the paint and the windows are stuck down
needs some interior panels i think too
Which pollutes the most: a Volkswagen Golf or a Ferrari with a 12-cylinder engine?
Most people would say the Ferrari, but the correct answer is more nuanced, according to the Italian sportscar manufacturer https://t.co/qotuGDzeHj
108
416
I mean they're not entirely wrong
in its full lifetime a laferrari will do less cabron dioxides than an up
especially if you crash it 200m away from the dealership when you leave
Didnβt realize how small the P1 was in relation to a normal sedan
Iβve seen a black on in person
So Ferraris create less pollution because no one drives them.
So if I tow my car home, and never drive it... it's cleaner than all the Ferraris.
Well it's more like for every 1000 miles a regular car does in its lifetime a Ferrari will probably only be driven 150 max
iirc ferrari was testing/made a concept bio-diesal 12 cylinder and it was still almost just as powerful
Similar argument used against electric cars why can't Ferrari use it against emissions standards
I think if they did that they'd wait for an F1 engine using similar stuff to work for branding
Thing about like supercars and all that is if you put a normal car engine in them wouldn't they be better on mileage bar like an xl1?
yup
but why do all that custom work if you're just gonna drop a 4 cylinder in it lol
Therefore we should ban normal cars they're polluting the roads
Job done we can go home guys
those cars are crazy expensive cause usually all the parts are hand crafted
Basically artisan carmaking this is the hipsters dream man
That's alotta fords
yea it was when i bought it lol
Mmm my k20a6. Get ready for some new camshaft and..... supercharger maybe. Who knows. π
needs a good cleaning
needs a good cleaning
@warm sparrow
++
That too yeah
I have degreaser, just need to take the time
But it's also pretty cold out, so I probably won't bother for a while
Imagine wanting a Honda Civic
If you're gonna get a Japanese econobox, get a Corolla
Tbh I dont mind a proper s2000
S2k is a sports car tho
Completely different from a Civic
And generally just as overpriced
Yeah well its still the only Honda that I wouldnt mind buying, if it wasnt for the hideous price π
Lmao
I wouldn't mind a 90s Civic bc of that sweet sweet 50mpg
But you can't buy stock ones that aren't fucked anymore
So they're all riced and don't get good mpg anymore
Not to mention, Corollas still handle better than a stock Civic
I'm thinking about buying another AE100 with 5MT so I can have a nice example Corolla, and then rotary swap my clapped out shitbox one I already have
Lel
So much for my aspirations of rotary truck
If I do rotary swap the Corolla I can't be bothered to do another swap. I probably won't even buy a truck unless I find a good deal
Getting a minivan will be enough. I just need a cargo hauler for carrying shit around, like ikea furniture boxes and shit
Yes, but coilovers are expensive
A lot of cars handle really well with a coilover swap
A Corolla will handle better out of the box
A lot of cars handle really well with a coilover swap
Yea true lmao
It's not exclusive to any one car
I can't get coils on my car sadly, old double wishbone setup and no ones making coils for them to my knowledge, but I got it on lowering springs and bilstein shocks. And I've swapped all bushings in the entire suspension system for Poly urethane ones. It handles like a gocart.
Yea
Coilovers kits for the AE100 are hard to find
I might just get lowering springs and better shocks, also do poly bushings
Maybe try to find stiffer away bars and make a strut bar
I wanted a specific height on my car, so I simply looked in LesjΓΆfors (company that makes springs) catalouge and found a pair of rear springs from another car that matched the height I wanted and had pigtails in both ends.
I jacked up the rear axle with the springs and dampers removed and my 18" wheels of choice mounted, I jacked it up untill I get the height setup I wanted then measured the distance between upper and lower spring mount and added 10cm for compression.
Toyota
yes
dont think we got the same corollas as you
theres a miniscule amount of camrys here too
Tesla to join S&P 500, spark epic index fund trade
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7abzyo4yOs Also automakers should offer these wraps/paint jobs as an option.

For years, enthusiast looking to buy a sport compact car have flocked to Volkswagen, Honda,...
Managed this today. Not happy.
A car was parked half and half on a road hump like this and somehow managed to clip my bumper guard on the road hump
Plus a massive dip infront of it didn't help either
is your car lowered?
That or drove too fast.
doesent look like it'd be able to get up half the construction ramps they used when the land slid
Ride height looks stock.
Car isn't lowered,
I slow down for road humps
What probably didn't help was having stuff to take to the recycling centre in the car too
beh this one wasnt too bad, dont have any videos saved of the others
I could probably manage that, but slow like you did
Yeah that'll be due to the road condition
usually not that bad, i aimed to avoid all of them and instead hit every single one.
road maintenance is not my councils expertise
building speed bumps where the limit goes from 40 to 60 or reverse that you can only do like 15mph over comfortably is however.
see alot of lowered beemers and audi's here going diagonal over them
some people get pissed off with them slowing down to like 2mph constantly
Yeah
I can get away with most road humps, but it's always my bumper that is the most limiting factor
Even poor road surfaces I try to avoid, but councils be councils this gets harder to avoid
That's the one thing I like about the refurbed motorways, smooth roads and nice in dry weather but lethal in wet weather
No worrying about holes in the road, just sit back and drive
In comparison to hidden potholes https://youtu.be/a63XvTAzRGs
I needed a new tyre after that
hiding in the shade
dont some places pay for ur tyres if a pothole destroys your tyre?
i heard about someplace doing that if the local authorities are informed of it 24h before or something
If you can prove it, sure.
But a lot of cities require that they be aware of a pothole before hand.
There is a lot of weird redtape around it. You'll be better off trying to get 3rd party warranty companies to pay out.
https://youtu.be/IKlZgI65gEk This is incredibly interesting on how GM is staying in the nikola deal, even with all of the lawsuits, lying, and scandals.

GM shocked the industry when they partnered with EV startup Nikola to make an electric truck. But nobody expected the controversy that...
I might be close to getting a manual audi a4
I imagine GM is looking to either buy the platform from Nikola or at the very least talent harvest the company before letting it go under.
Without a fuel cell, Nikola has no real reason to exist.
What's a good project car for under $20k that I can make into sort of a track/canyon car?
I am thinking about the Datsun Z but its gonna require a lotta mods
E46 is also on my list but its expensive and I already daily drive a BMW so I kinda want something else
Toyota MR2 seemed cool but it has no ABS and its got bad snap oversteer so I don't wanna fly off a cliff if I take it up the canyons lol
You should get a e36, the perfect beamer
$20k not enough for a e46? how well built are you going
Miata?
Nissan Z?
literally anything?
you could track a god damn Ford Escape if you really wanted to
hmm this doesn't seem right
I just saw a Trabant
And also
I must get a dash cam
I can't rely on my phone camera and remote button so much
Is that... A Corsa
too wide
testarossa
insignia probably
LOL definitely not
That's a Corsa
Although this picture is a GS-Line, the one in the image above has the standard bumpers + halogen + no fog lamps + no painted so it's probably some very low trim
i heard about someplace doing that if the local authorities are informed of it 24h before or something
@fathom socket That is how it is supposed to work here, but I was given a number (support ticket kinda thing) and then eventually it was closed with no response. Then I opened another ticket and they told me that as the driver I should be aware of obstacles in the road and closed the ticket again. To this day, that hole is still there. They did fill it in, but it became unfilled.
My argument to that is taxes pay for the roads, so fix the damn things. (Not ved tax, but all the other taxes ie council tax). Plus that's not visible, or at least not visible amongst all the white lines and whilst driving at the same time
wot on earth is that
its so wide, havent seen that here yet
christ what are they gonna do to the astra
well the corsa was overdue a big design change i guess but imo it looks like it will overlap with the astra more
yeah i think you'd definetly have to have a dash cam just to have a chance of getting through the process
i imagine you'd need some kind of lawyer just to get them to respond and then that already costs more than the insurance
you have no chance getting anything in fife heh
mind you people be like why pothole has broke spring!?!?!
the spring was practically new!
@warm sparrow use both for an even distribution
it wasn't the point lol but thanks
For me the lower control arm broke when I hit the pothole
And the stabilizer bar
Or how it's called
And the steering rod
The strut was fine
And also
I was a mechanic and my gas filter was cloggeg so badly
And also they did some tune up
Now it runs super smoothly
But my throttle is broken
They told me that ere is some play on the throttle
Basically I need to do 3 things to get my car fully sorted
Fix rear suspension knocking,
Fix the throttle and
Replace the rusted off fender
No @dense shard Nikola is actually GM's "testbench" their reputation is so scalded if they die, then GM has no big fault on their part. There's no downsides for GM except a little mark on their reputation. If GM created a new brand (kind of like the hummer EV) then it would be a big risk. The hummer EV is just for looks for GM to say "oh we are in the game" but not many people are paying attention to nikola. So that's where GM can make mistakes, with little repercussions. And if nikola dies, so what, it makes no big issue, and GM runs out with the knowledge that they gained.
I'm not sure I agree
GM has created new brands in years past
They revived Hummer even.
Nothing to gain at this point.
Also GM has take several massive risks publicly. Volt, Bolt, and their battery tech. I don't think they're that worried.
Im not sure GM is going to be around much longer though.. which if you ask me is a kind of a shame.. but I think as far as future profits go.. I more faith in ford to survive then GM... but I honestly hate ford.
why the mustang mach e LIKE JUST CALL IT MACH E
because the people that buy Tesla don't really buy Ford... So they need to get the people that buy fords ready to buy electric as best as they can. Its ham fisted as fuck.. but you saw how GM could not make the VOlt and Bolt work... So Its not like ford will do any better with that same dumb plan.
Personally I think the New Hummer might be best foot forward GM has ever put into the electric market... but its far too expensive to really do much... its a vary expensive nitch product that acts as a halo product.. they need to get the cost down to the point where its do you buy this, or a Tesla with the same range/no autodrive features..
But I don't think Tesla will let that happen and just keep dropping the price of the base model as they keep improving there battery tech... which GM can't do because it has no battery tech program quite like Tesla does.
Yea.. I would not invest in anyone else right now but Tesla... they are going to shit all over everyone because they Identified the 3 features cars will mostly need in the future.. electric drive, batteries, and self drive. Everyone else is now just discovering electric drive, and never put serious effort into self drive quite like Tesla has.
My GM car hasn't done anything wrong the past 4.5 years
how old is it total
how many milometers
137k so nothing major
85k
I have 2004 Chevy cavalier that's only costed my 83 dollars to repair. apparently a solenoid went out causing the speedometer to go wonky on me.. Otherwise its dead reliable... but it only has some 90k miles on it...
chevys are nasty
ive worked on a kalos its like primitive technology
except they somehow managed to make every sensor fail
That's GM Korea
they put their badge on it what can i say but chevy bad
good
I have 2004 Chevy cavalier that's only costed my 83 dollars to repair. apparently a solenoid went out causing the speedometer to go wonky on me.. Otherwise its dead reliable... but it only has some 90k miles on it...
Damn that car looks sad lol
also they rust with haste
which is probably a good thing considering how shit they are
Which ones?
the kalos
Ah yes
my highly intelligent sister had a bunch of welding done to her 2008 one
who has tonnes of welding done on a kalos smh
Well GM Korea especially back then were even cheaper than the cheapest economy cars
We also considered a new Daewoo Nubira when purchasing the Peugeot 307 back in 2007 (Peugeot used), but it was already shite when new
she calls the thing kris its got a tractor gearbox, a clutch which you have to push through the front of the car to disengage and a cable throttle.
Or Lacetti idk
i torqued my wheels to spec today and man it makes me uneasy
Daewoo Lacetti Wagon apparently
usually i would put tonnes of force into the wrench but this was just a blissful tug then click
still not as bad as the tyre shop which torqued them to like 500nm
Yes
i had like 2m of square tubing over the wrench and was still struggling
if that tyre blew no chance i was going to be able to change it
Daewoo Lacetti Wagon apparently
@stoic ledge ah no it was the Chevrolet Nubira here
i had like 2m of square tubing over the wrench and was still struggling
Lol yeah had to do the same once putting on winter tyres on my brother's Clio

Does this intel i10 good enough for me to play club penguin?
ye
Good old Sweden I see @civic spoke
this road is basically my city in a nutshell
at least thats what the entire old town looks like π€
I've ordered a dahs cam
but the question is
I need to rewire stuff in my car
depends really
my cig socket is powered all the time
but my radio isn't
IDK if all focuses mk1 are like that
so if you wire it you're gonna only have recording when driving which makes sense
if u plug it its just gonna always record i thinm
there is no way to tell the dash cam that ignition is off when there is still power
at least I have long enoug extention cord to bring soldering iron to the parking lot
I already had someone going wrong way on a Highway
I reed a dash cam in case accident happens
yeah i think i should get one
i've somehow seen enough idiots despite my relative newness to driving to warrant it
my favourite feature of driving a 2001 mini in 2020 is all the fukin huge suv's with headlights brighter than the sun aimed directly into all 3 of ur mirrors
Shoutout the straight pipes tho
Just need to figure out how to pull the A-pillar trim off.
Working on a unrelated project that requires NODs. So of course I had to get a photo of the truck. It's obligatory.
6.2L?
Sure is! It's a hoot to drive.
car
@flint sable I'll need new tires before long too. But here it is in full color. It's still black though.
I was hoping to get a good deal on the blue or sand colored one. But no dice. But I refused to get another white vehicle
agreed
i mean, damn those tires look massive, and the front is to long, and the back is to short, but it's decent
And still the type R is trash. It's literally just for them to be like "HA, we have a weird sports car to set us apart from the competition, but nobody buys it" https://www.caranddriver.com/honda/civic-type-r
Also in this image for the new civic, i hate that shifter not being in the middle, and instead being to the side, like bruh, be symetrical
That center console is wider than you think.
I prefer the shifter closer to me.
To be honest. That thing is pretty much Accord sized at this point.
yee
they pretty much said that they made the design to be a accord, and it's just a cheaper car all around
that steering wheel lokes incredibly small tbh, not the actuall like dimensions, but the features
thats a easy way to set your car on fire lol
my favourite feature of driving a 2001 mini in 2020 is all the fukin huge suv's with headlights brighter than the sun aimed directly into all 3 of ur mirrors
why does that happend so often to me?
@exotic monolith The Type-R is trash?
@neon zodiac i mean the entire idea is, it's not "trash" per se, just that its weird
can anyone just simply change the colour of this background white to black? Dm me please
because it's civic, one of the most meh cars on the market, but then your turn it into a sports car. I'm not denying it's a good deal, it's just that the entire idea is weird, and the design sucks
They're doing what almost every brand does tho. MB has AMG, BMW has M, Volvo had Polestar, Toyota has GR. It's not a new or weird concept. @exotic monolith
"weird" is objective
Yeah what ur saying makes no sense, imo
fun
because it's civic, one of the most meh cars on the market, but then your turn it into a sports car. I'm not denying it's a good deal, it's just that the entire idea is weird, and the design sucks
Why is the idea of a hot hatch weird
The last gen Civic I actually liked
But yeah hot hatches are a good concept

Too bad it's mostly dying
its a seriously fast car for little money
You wish. Dealers try to mark up the Type R as high as possible. The MSRP is a joke
Maybe in the US. Here you can get a 2018 Type R for under 30k usd
If only
MSRP for a brand new Type R is like $35-40k. No dealer will let you get one for under $50k
No idea about used prices
Yeah, that sucks.
Wouldn't be surprised if used prices here are spiked to hell if only because people overinflate the value thanks to high purchase prices
we don't hav tyres in russia we slav and use log
in your opinion
Imo, modern hot hatches aren't really hot hatches
My Type R doesnt have fake vents :)
it does
nope
my car does not have that no.
poke it with a stick
you'll know
do you watch donut? I meant donut media
or carwow
Show me the fake vent LOL
yeah facts
even the new mercedes'
all of them except the maybachs and the AMG GTs
The new Supra also has fake vents.
Toyota added them so the aftermarket scene can remove them

Modern hot hatches are just sports cars with a hatch body. Old hot hatches were generic cars with some added pep
Yeah I know lol
Meanwhile I want a 5MT 7th gen Corolla Wagon
Buy it
Buy it :puggers:
Nowhere to park one and I need my monies for house first
Plus I've already vowed that I'm buying a Previa first thing after house.
Then I can get another 7th gen Corolla
But I also need to find a rotary to slap in my clapped Corolla
@civic girder although a 4AGE 20v would be a pretty cool swap
sure
duuuuude
you should ls swap a corvette
.......
it was a joke
Lmao
@timid trail Umm. You might want to remove that for the lyrics used in that...

ππ¨ππ¦ππ·π
smol poddle
@charred depot something simmilar I had when I broke my suspention
but it was a bit deeper and it there was a pothole under
i hit that pothole atleast 3 times a week at that speed
suspension components for my little ecobox are cheap anyway. aslong as it doesent break the arch off like a e46 im good heh.

well
I lost control and hit the sidewalk
my tires have almost no traction on wet road
ah ive got tyres specifically for rain with massive drainage cuts
ive got 195 low profiles on a 900kg car
yikes
I need at least 185/65 r14
it's difficult to find this tyre size
it looks like not many cars have used this
I very often find a complete set of wheels with those tires mostly for foucus mk1 or peugeot
but I don't want alloys
asnd they are too expensive
I think I'm gonna to fix my alloy wheels
detail them I mean
fixing mine at the moment, couldnt find the exact paint colour so gonna have to do them all or atleast a side
get that poke
might get steelies with winter tyres if it snows this year, probably wont
UI would paint them lime green or hot pink
but srsly IDK what color would actually fit a boring white company car
I have a bike
sweet

I'm buying a car
I have all the details sorted out
I just need to do the title transfer
What kind of car
Audi A4
congrats

Shame EVs aren't viable in the plains.
why
cause gotta make car stylish yknow
That's freaking cool.
its completely non serviceable aswell if a led blows unless you want pain and suffering the entire assembly needs replaced.
Kinda cool ngl
its cool until it breaks
Pointless but hey it's cool
I feel like that would also delay response in turning the headlights on
and adds needless cost + another point of failure
I suppose that is true.
It is why a lot of automakers moved away from flip up headlights.
Apart from the pedestrian safety issues and aero.
sad
I imagine modern headlight systems tend to be robust. It's not like Tesla were they go down to Home Depot and call it a day.
Oh it's this wow I'm wrong about the name

to be honest ive seen alot of failing drl's
I haven't seen many if any tbh.
where its like the solid white line that goes around the headlight
Mostly VWs.
seats ive seen them fail on
That's still VW.
Sounds like a QC issue.
Outside of VWs, I haven't seen any failed DRLs. Especially the new LED varieties.
i cant wait to see how much it depreciates in value
Biggest downside honestly is the US' lighting regulations are still very much 70s.
Meaning we don't get cool adaptive lighting tech.
So we get the joys of being blinded and dazzled.
breaking all parts 50k miles citroen ds7, failed headlight.
I wonder if I can get the adaptive headlights for my car.
yeah pretty much all cars ive been in here have the dial to dip them when you have weight in the back
heh
2002 civic has it, my mazda 2 has it previous owner had them on max dip
couldnt see shit on unlit b roads
My Suzuki in Japan had it.
It was convenient.
Dip in the city, full up on rural roads.
I've learned a lot of people here have highbeams on.
Also I want to install a LED bar.
And if I go for room installation, I absolutely need to find a way to remove the A-pillar trim.
if i had a shitbox id probably put rally lights on the front for the fun of it
removing my a pillar trim is destructive
The Corolla's grill is pretty massive.
have to buy replacement thing
So I could ideally hide it behind the grill.
I'm fine with that.
I can afford the part.
yeah its just a little piece of ribbon or something
Maybe I'll just ask my local dealer to do it.
Gonna buy a dash cam. And need to route the cables behind the airbag.
I want to add fog lights to the Corolla, but my bumper doesn't have mounts
probably to stop it tossing the trim when the airbag goes off
My car has fogs.
I desperately need to get fogs for the Prius as well
my dashcam wire is just pushed into the a pillar :^ |
who needs side airbags anyway
I do.
Loose objects in front of airbags is rarely a good idea.
pretty much all the dealer installed hands free do it
I spent extra for a new car. Gonna make sure not to mess with any features I have.
I need to bypass the EGR and trick the ECU into thinking its working in my Corolla
tired of having a CEL when its something useless and unnecessary
CEL is supposed to notify me of a problem, not shit like "EGR Failure"
beh a egr valve for my car is like Β£20
I'd rather delete it. Not like the feds will find out if they don't test me
not to mention, its 25 years old now, so they wouldn't test it anyways
your car has to be 40 years old to be mot exempt here
and even then your insurance provider will probably want you to continue the inspections
lmao
cel is a immediate fail here regardless of what it signafies
failing the mot cause your vtec didnt kick in and threw an error :^ |
It triggers me that my CEL is on
and it keeps coming back on when I clear it
every time I run the codes, its EGR
so I just need to either delete it, or jank it into somehow working
EGR would fail an emissions test for a good reason.
we don't even have an inspection or emissions test
probably just needs a good clean anyway
I think an inspection would do the average American good.
my car would fail the shit out of an inspection, but most of it would be easy to resolve
There are some rust buckets out there that shouldn't be on the road.
im suprised you dont have more brake failures
Stainless steal brakelines mitigate teh worst.
And those are usually replaced after a mechanic has to replace half the suspension bits and the entire brakey bits.
Assuming the frame lasts that long.
I had to do front pads, rotors and calipers
drivers side front caliper failed

not due to rust though
Hopefully I won't have issues with my parking brake.
our brake lines get rusted bad alot
my dad took his car to the mot with the handbrake shoes completely worn
needless to say it did not pass
yeah he just had it scheduled
oh no the handbrake did nothing at all
hadnt for months
oh that bad, lol
That's fine even then.
I replaced mine on the Accord and they never worked right afterwards.
youd just jam the wheel into the kerb
on steep hills it could turn over the engine
I just didn't park on hills after that.
I got them adjusted to work after a while, but meh. They're fucking horrible.
drum brakes are a travesty.
the auto adjusters on my rear drums are the most useless things
mines is just so light it makes no sense
4 wheel discs are superior. Can't change my mind.
the drum shoes last the life of the car
i don't think anyone wants to change your mind @dense shard
drum brakes are just bad
I dare them. :3c
I'm not some Indian god who has enough hands to install fresh brake shoes.
our 20 year old honda has never had a a alignment i dont think
front shocks that have to be atleast 10 years old
probably as old as the car
easy pass though
Yea, repairing my EGR would cost more than what I paid for the car
for something so utterly useless, its definitely not worth it
especially if I do rotary swap it
useless is debateable but have you atleast taken a look at it
lob some carb cleaner in there good as new
but idgaf about emissions systems
yea, I'll probably look at it and try to clean it eventually
Clean air is good air.
@dense shard tell that to the shipping industry and airlines
"emissions are useless" says the boomer with COPD who has 2 kids with asthma.
I've been saying it.
the biggest polluters aren't even cars
No, but every bit counts.
We can start by shutting down pleasure cruises.
Then slam down hard on cargo shipping companies.
yes
Airlines are more difficult to deal with tbh.
they are
but to be fair, cargo shipping is worse than airlines
Promote high speed rail, telecommuting.
true
Eliminate shorter routes entirely, and promote alternative fuels.
rail projects here are always a disaster
Nationalize said rail project, and boom.
No need to profit means you can focus on a service.
imo, I think that if the actual big pollution sources are dealt with, car emissions standards don't need to get stricter at all
need to be more like china and just throw people out their houses that are in the way
Stricter standards are the future.
We just need to apply them consistently.
Across all industries.
Fortunately coal is dead.
we still use it for electricity though
which is the very definition of ancient technology
used to be an old coal powerplant here, threw out so much smoke
right
Nevermind vastly easier to transport.
Solar, wind
Coal is just not cheap anymore.
water
I'm not a fan of hydro.
Hell, even Nuclear
That's fucked a lot of ecosystems.
Nuclear over hydro any day of the week.
Arguably cheaper.
they built a giant wind turbine here that the sun can end up behind turning into a strobe light directly into my window.
Maybe cleaner.
nuclear only gets a bad rap bc of mismanagement and idiots
wot
hondas first fail, for a serious reason ofcourse.
tbh, I think we should have more nuclear power
ofc, assuming people don't screw it up like the big fails of the past
can i get sound cancer from a desk fan
And bird strikes apparently aren't that common.
this is where i live
theres so much contrast here
you got the bright noisy polluting chemical plant surrounded by wind turbines they bought to green wash.
car
Tfw your pc runs on 15 psi
yes
One size fits all.
That's some pogger packaging
What dashcam is it
Mans probably running a logitech webcam
