The Germans left logic behind many years ago.

humble cargo
#

Nah I was right

fathom socket
#

The Japanese do it the best

humble cargo
#

S63 in mine

fathom socket
#

No the M63

#

isnt a thing

dense shard
#

Japanese don't do weird alpha numerics most of the time.

humble cargo
#

Well n63 but with s63 turbos

#

Bruh look it up

fathom socket
#

You said M63

humble cargo
#

2016 650 is the n63

#

I said s63

#

Wich is the m6 Engine

fathom socket
#

M63 iirc
@humble cargo

humble cargo
#

Yeah I said iirc

fathom socket
#

I mean the N/A V8 you'll be installing

#

to your mates lada

humble cargo
#

Ah okay lol, I don’t know wich exact one he’s trying to get but I’m pretty sure it’s out of an old 5 series

fathom socket
#

Then probably a 540 engine

#

or a 530i

civic girder
#

It is the poor mans porsche
But the thing is, at the time, you could get better cars for under half the price of a 944 lmao

humble cargo
#

Idk about old 5 series engines lol

#

M60 is the v8 in it i think

fathom socket
#

Also just looked uup

#

they made 2 530i's in the same generation

#

One is an inline 6

#

the other one is a v8

humble cargo
#

It’s an e34

fathom socket
#

Yea

#

within the e34 generation

humble cargo
#

Don’t know wich exact one tough lol

#

Yeah might be an 530i then

fathom socket
#

Its either a 530i or a 540i

#

Speaking about E34

#

Didnt they build a Mclaren F1 powered 5 series touring

humble cargo
#

Well the f1 engine is from bmw so yeah

#

Do you know the 7 series „Goldfisch“?

fathom socket
#

No but just looked it up

#

V16 powered 7 series?

#

Is that like a enlarged M70

#

with more pistons

humble cargo
#

Indeed

civic girder
#

Don't tell me the 400z doesn't look identical

fathom socket
#

The roofline is identical with all modern Z cars

#

and the older ones

#

Like the S30

civic girder
#

Older ones not so much imo

#

Similar style, sure

fathom socket
#

It's pretty much similar

#

Well pretty thats what they were going for

#

And who cares I like it

#

Probably because Im a huge sucker for Z cars

dense shard
#

Implications are that this is just a rerefreshed 350z.

civic girder
#

Yea

dense shard
#

Which... Okay, fine?

civic girder
#

I'm assuming it's the same chassis with a new body, refreshed interior, and a new engine

dense shard
#

The 370z is still a pretty good car.

#

Interior looks better.

civic girder
#

It's good, but outdated and overpriced

dense shard
#

Is it outdated?

#

Ignoring the infotainment.

civic girder
#

When did the 370 launch

fathom socket
#

So its no longer outdated?

dense shard
#

A decade ago

fathom socket
#

What makes it outdated

civic girder
#

It's a decade old lol

dense shard
#

Lack of tech features

fathom socket
#

And yes?

#

The beetle was sold for 70 years

civic girder
#

It's like Intel and 14nm

fathom socket
#

with no changes

#

at all

dense shard
#

The beetle wasn't good by the 60s

#

And it changed plenty

fathom socket
#

and then it never changed in a drastic way

civic girder
#

The beetle had multiple generations. The last year of the beetle was nothing like the original

fathom socket
#

and stayed that way till the early 2000s

#

then it got deleted

#

then the new beetle and such

dense shard
#

Anyway. 370z has remained relevant against competition.

#

BRZ twins, Miata, base Mustang...

civic girder
#

It's relevant, in the same way as the charger and challenger. You're marketing and selling a decades old car

#

When you compare it against anything new, it becomes unappealing

dense shard
#

But it lacks the tech to make it really attractive

#

Interior is 90s in the 20s

fathom socket
#

If you had the money for a 400z why tf wouldn't you just get a 370z used or something

civic girder
#

Sure it's competitive in actual performance, but why would you buy it if it lacks modern features and comforts; especially at the price you pay

fathom socket
#

I like how people say "Man it was simpler in the 90s" and then mock the 370z for not having tech

civic girder
#

???

dense shard
#

Simplicity is fine, but tech is affordable now.

fathom socket
#

Its a simple car

#

as long as its a good car that you like

civic girder
#

That's what they all say

fathom socket
#

who cares if its old

dense shard
#

Buyers care

civic girder
#

Yea, if you're a fan boy and/or have owners bias, it doesn't matter how outdated the platform is

dense shard
#

Why buy a new 370 when you can buy a used one

civic girder
#

^

fathom socket
#

yes

#

that

civic girder
#

You get the same car, literally

dense shard
#

Nissan is competing against the used market.

fathom socket
#

Yea I don't know why people buy new cars in general

dense shard
#

Because tech

#

And used market is shit right now

fathom socket
#

they have been the same in tech department for the last 5 years

civic girder
#

Yea, the 400z is the only way Nissan can compete against their decade old used market competition

dense shard
#

Not really

civic girder
#

How so?

dense shard
#

2019 saw a lot of development

fathom socket
#

Only EVs

dense shard
#

Not you, Eastman. lol

#

Not only EVs

fathom socket
#

what else then

civic girder
#

Continuing to sell the 370z makes no sense to me

#

Like, they would at least have to pretty it up and update the tech in order to sell it

fathom socket
#

thats what the 400z

#

is

civic girder
#

Yep

fathom socket
#

isnt it

dense shard
#

2019? A lot of cars added safety suite features, android auto more or less became mainstream.

#

You saw the brand new Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla HB.

fathom socket
#

I actually like those 2 a lot

dense shard
#

In the case of the Corolla, it was 100% new.

#

I didn't want last gen tech.

fathom socket
#

But still does it do something old gen cant

dense shard
#

Because year by year updates on infotainment matter.

#

It does.

civic girder
#

It looks suspiciously similar to the 370/350 (which already looked suspiciously similar to each other), and would not surprise me if it's structurally the same car

dense shard
#

Mazda's infotainment was actually smooth to use.

#

Toyota's was functional. Nevermind the better fuel economy and way more power.

fathom socket
#

well at least most german makers stayed the same

dense shard
#

I could have gotten a few month old Corolla HB for 19k... but at that price I could have paid a bit more and gotten exactly what I wanted.

fathom socket
#

just getting a software tach

#

and fancier luxury stuff

civic girder
#

Digital tachs are always garbage in my experience

fathom socket
#

They are

#

I hate Merc's digital tach

#

Also hasn't the G class been the same as the Z car

#

in terms how similiar it looks to last gen

#

and you know

civic girder
#

There's a lot of outdated cars out there

fathom socket
#

not being too different

civic girder
#

The charger and challenger are the same way

fathom socket
#

No the G class is pretty new underneath

#

iirc

#

just exactly the same design

civic girder
#

The Nissan titan is also literally the same

humble cargo
#

400z just means i can buy cheap 350 and 370z now

fathom socket
#

350 has been dirt cheap in some countries for a while

#

Especially UK

#

but the insurance bites you in the butt

humble cargo
#

8k here

civic girder
#

BMWs have looked so similar to each other for so long, I have trouble telling them aoart

dense shard
#

Also remember

humble cargo
#

With 30k miles

fathom socket
#

Well I can never find an affordable 350 here

civic girder
#

UK insurance is a meme

dense shard
#

Automakers look at new car sales to decide what to build

#

There's a reason manuals are dyingm

humble cargo
#

Sad tbh

fathom socket
#

for a 15 year old 350z

dense shard
#

Car guys refuse to buy new.

fathom socket
#

50k

#

in us currency

#

with around 130k kilometers

humble cargo
#

Save the manual!

dense shard
#

Car people are to blame for the death of manuals

humble cargo
#

What

civic girder
#

Car guys refuse to buy new.
@dense shard I don't think it's that they refuse, but rather that they dont see the point

dense shard
#

Then they have no right to whine

fathom socket
#

or cant afford

#

in general

humble cargo
#

We want to make slow cars fast, not fast cars death traps

dense shard
#

You can get manuals on the cheap

civic girder
#

They feel that no new sports cars appeal to them the same way older ones do

fathom socket
#

I want to make slow cars

#

death traps

#

the 205 T16

#

for example

#

Or the Delta S4

humble cargo
#

My mk2 golf is defo not a death trap when finished

civic girder
#

Personally, I wish more people bought new cars so there's more 80s cars for me KEKW

humble cargo
#

Only got like 500hp with fwd

fathom socket
#

lmao

dense shard
#

Automakers only sell what people buy. If people don't buy manuals, automakers will stop selling them.

fathom socket
#

I want 80s cars too

civic girder
#

only 500whp

fathom socket
#

Actually automakers build when there is enough demand

#

So if all automakers kill manuals there will be demand

civic girder
#

Automakers only sell what people buy. If people don't buy manuals, automakers will stop selling them.
@dense shard even if people keep buying them, it's an outdated tech

dense shard
#

Dunno if outdated.

fathom socket
#

at least for a small market

dense shard
#

My manual auto rev matches on up and downshifts.

civic girder
#

Antiquated for sure

fathom socket
#

I mean if the manual transmission is antiquated

dense shard
#

Manuals are only a few years older than automatics.

fathom socket
#

so is the internal combustion engine

civic girder
#

Auto rev match is a band aid to fix people's own idiocy lol

dense shard
#

It's a nice feature to have in heavy traffic.

humble cargo
#

@dense shard what

fathom socket
#

I'm not very good with rev matching ok

humble cargo
#

The auto gearbox isn’t that old

fathom socket
#

it is really old

humble cargo
#

30s iirc

fathom socket
#

That still old

dense shard
#

"Modern automatic transmissions can trace their origins to an early "horseless carriage" gearbox that was developed in 1904 by the Sturtevant brothers of Boston, Massachusetts. "

fathom socket
#

Also

#

1904

#

yes

dense shard
#

"One of the key developments in arriving at an automatic transmission was the use of planetary transmission in the vehicle's gearbox. Probably the first use of which was in the Wilson-Pilcher made between 1900 and 1907."

#

If we're going for things that we considering modern... this.

fathom socket
#

What you're looking for is the Torque converter automatic @humble cargo

#

which was developed in the 40s

civic girder
#

Automatics are just as old as manuals, yes. But the problem is that automatics can be continuously advanced and improved. But there's only so much you can do to a manual to make it better. Auto rev match isn't really a transmission feature afaik lmao

humble cargo
#

Oh my bad then

dense shard
#

Then check out what Hyundai did.

#

automatic clutch. Pogey

civic girder
#

That's...old tech lol

humble cargo
#

Not pog at all

fathom socket
#

@civic girder Depends on what you consider Automatic

civic girder
#

I'm pretty sure someone made an automatic clutch waaaaàaaay long ago

fathom socket
#

Considering there are so many types of Automatic gearboxes that can be controlled manually

#

Sequential

#

for example

dense shard
#

Saab did it sort of

fathom socket
#

Yeah they did

dense shard
#

It was... Actually kind of alright

fathom socket
#

And wasnt it kinda bad?

#

I mean for crawling the car

dense shard
#

Don't crawl any manual

civic girder
#

By manual I mean 3 pedals and a clutch. You can actually have manual sequential

fathom socket
#

Pretty sure you couldnt start moving without gas

#

When you are in a tight spot

#

its hard to move with gas

civic girder
#

You'd be surprised

fathom socket
#

You'd be suprised at how much I suck at it

#

Though that's mostly because I drive a renault

#

and old Renault clutches are fucking weird

civic girder
#

I have to use gas in the RX-7 cause rotaries have 0 tork

fathom socket
#

lol

#

I drive a diesel so

#

instant torque

civic girder
#

Slow traffic is horrible

humble cargo
#

tesla joins chat

fathom socket
#

With old Renaults

#

the clutch has a ridiculous throw

#

Its fucking long

#

and it doesnt grab properly until near end

meager hinge
#

2Jz ❤️

brazen canopy
#

1st of in the supra rant

spice compass
#

supras are the best cars. you opinion is basically shit

brazen canopy
#

The fucker is on some dodge weight levels

meager hinge
#

Lmao

#

Easily fixable

brazen canopy
#

bitch weighs the same as the one fuck who spends 3 hours at a buffet

#

and its not cheap but yall defend it because 2jz

#

but yall realize ite in like 4 other fucking cars

meager hinge
#

Bruh it’s not even that heavy

brazen canopy
#

that you can scoop up for under 10k

#

like these supra fanboys will defend stick and the 2j but not know what pedel is clutch

dense shard
#

But those aren't supras

meager hinge
#

The Supra is a good car it is just overrated

brazen canopy
#

and still think stick is faster than an auto

gaunt prism
#

2jz is not what made the supra though

#

It’s the v6 twin turbo that’s the good one

meager hinge
#

Bruh

#

What

#

No

brazen canopy
#

thats a 2jz you lasagna @gaunt prism

#

wait

gaunt prism
#

Is it?

brazen canopy
#

v6

dense shard
#

V6?

brazen canopy
#

wtf crack you smoking

#

and another thing

meager hinge
#

I actually like the Nissan Silvia a lot

#

TylerThinking it's my favorite

brazen canopy
#

the 2jz isn't the only toyota motor (it isnt but anyway) that can handle mad power

gaunt prism
#

Ohhh ok

meager hinge
#

tUnEd SuPrA

brazen canopy
#

my camry's v6 can be built to make 1000whp fwd

gaunt prism
#

So it’s a straight 6 twin turbo?

sand wadi
#

imagine thinking every jdm car makes 1000hp

#

lmfaoo

brazen canopy
#

but yall dont see fanboys creaming over camry's

dense shard
#

Camry can't make a grand.

brazen canopy
#

and it isnt that nimbke

meager hinge
#

idk

#

slammed camrys are cool

brazen canopy
#

the supra handles that of a normal sedan

dense shard
#

Thing is the 2JZ can make mad power with stock internals

brazen canopy
#

its not that agile due to its weight

meager hinge
#

how would you know that

#

have you driven one

dense shard
#

Few cars can do that.

brazen canopy
#

have friends that have

meager hinge
#

if I'm not mistaken, the supra is less than 3000lb?

sand wadi
#

2jz ge motors can hardly hold 500 on stock internals

brazen canopy
#

@dense shard my camry's v6 can handle like 400 wheel with fairly stock internals

sand wadi
#

if its the gte maybe 650 at the most on low boost

fathom socket
#

2jz-ge motors are nearly identical

meager hinge
#

ngl I love the mk3 a lot more than the mk4

fathom socket
#

to gte motors

dense shard
#

400 is a far cry from 1000

fathom socket
#

just different pistons

sand wadi
#

yes without the good internals or the turbo

fathom socket
#

and some head differences

brazen canopy
#

but 200 stock @dense shard

fathom socket
#

same internals @sand wadi

dense shard
#

That's low for a V6

fathom socket
#

only difference are the pistons

brazen canopy
#

thats fucking more than double since they get chp from factory

fathom socket
#

for lower compression

dense shard
#

Different pistons IS different internals

fathom socket
#

its not without the good internals then

#

its just different for being able to support a turbo

dense shard
#

Pistons alone can make a huge difference

sand wadi
#

i wanna know why people think is300s and 350z's are worth 10k+

#

thats the funny thing

fathom socket
#

no way a normal stock 350z is worth 10k

#

6k on a good day

sand wadi
#

i see 03 350s going for 10k all day its embarrassing

brazen canopy
#

mhm

#

le shitbox

fathom socket
#

Well they go for 30-40k near me so

sand wadi
#

same with clapped out is300s

fathom socket
#

i guess thats better

brazen canopy
#

its an iron block tho

sand wadi
#

mfs want 8k for a 01 is300 with 250k

dense shard
#

Iron is a fine material

brazen canopy
#

is 300s are getting expensive bc 2jz@sand wadi

dense shard
#

VW still uses it

fathom socket
#

is200s are dirt cheap

#

because no 2jz

gaunt prism
#

Is 300 don’t come in manual though?

fathom socket
#

they do

gaunt prism
#

Not here

fathom socket
#

just rare

#

they do in US

#

and UK

sand wadi
#

rather have a sc300 with the 1jz

fathom socket
#

thats not a sc300

#

thats a soarer

brazen canopy
#

tbh i hate some of the manual fanboys

#

like manuals are fun

meager hinge
sand wadi
#

is300 come in manual but the manual trans in them are garbage. the autos can handle more hp

#

which is weird

fathom socket
#

Not really

brazen canopy
#

but 1. a bitch to daily
2. arent faster than newer autos

fathom socket
#

arent they R154s

gaunt prism
#

No is 300 is auto only in uk

meager hinge
#

the only auto i would take is a PDK lmao

sand wadi
#

been proven that the autos in is300s can handle more

gaunt prism
#

I like dsg

dense shard
#

Ew

sand wadi
#

alot of the high hp builds on is300s are auto

#

or manual swapped to something else

brazen canopy
#

like they hate on autos but get fucking gapped by a 10spd mustang with 150 less horsepower

meager hinge
#

-__-

sand wadi
#

imagine owning a mustang

#

lmao

fathom socket
#

Pretty sure is300s come with w55s

brazen canopy
#

autos in the 90s and older are slow

fathom socket
#

or r154

#

which arent that durable

#

overall

#

and they are ancient trannies

brazen canopy
#

but anything newer is on par or better than manuals

sand wadi
#

wrong

brazen canopy
#

wrong?

fathom socket
#

wrong?

brazen canopy
#

im correct but ok

sand wadi
#

depends on the car

fathom socket
#

maybe some CVTs are garbage

#

but no

brazen canopy
#

obviously but even so

dense shard
#

It does depend

humble cargo
#

Oh hey happiness, wasn’t expecting to see you on here

dense shard
#

Corolla HB manual is still faster than the automatic

brazen canopy
#

even todays cheap autos shift faster than manuals

gaunt prism
#

I drove a juke cvt, I like that

fathom socket
#

Juke more like a

#

lmao

#

got em

brazen canopy
#

i want a mirano cabriolet

gaunt prism
#

Nah was pretty good dig t

meager hinge
#

you know sometimes you don't always have to go fast to have fun

fathom socket
#

dig t is cool

meager hinge
#

that's the slogan of the miata

#

😂

fathom socket
#

but not that cool

brazen canopy
#

or be cool to have fun you forgot that part @meager hinge

fathom socket
#

the only cool juke is the

#

juke r

meager hinge
#

the coolest juke is no juke

brazen canopy
#

juke is faster than your miata

meager hinge
#

🙂

dense shard
#

Still a Juke

meager hinge
#

do i care

brazen canopy
#

i suppose

meager hinge
#

miata better looking than your juke ass

fathom socket
#

It is still a juke

meager hinge
#

😂

fathom socket
#

just with gtr drivetrain

gaunt prism
#

It was a nismo juke with cvt box. I liked it

brazen canopy
#

miatas look like knockoff hotwheels wdym

fathom socket
#

Idk why you'd get a cvt dig t

dense shard
#

?

fathom socket
#

nismo

#

while the 6 speed manual exists

dense shard
#

Only for fwd

fathom socket
#

which is faster

brazen canopy
#

id respect a juke build more than a miata build

fathom socket
#

No

dense shard
#

AWD juke only comes in CVT

fathom socket
#

the 6 speed also comes with awd

brazen canopy
#

bc the juke would be unique

dense shard
#

Not in the US

fathom socket
#

idk about the us

brazen canopy
#

every hair salon has a modded miata

fathom socket
#

no they dont

meager hinge
dense shard
#

Wanna build a NB

fathom socket

I've yet to see a hair saloon own a mx-5

brazen canopy

looks like your basic miata

fathom socket

let alone mod one

meager hinge

ye

brazen canopy
#

seen a few myself @fathom socket

humble cargo

If the Miata wouldn’t be so tiny id buy one

brazen canopy
#

but miatas are soo cookie cutter

meager hinge
#

no one over like 5' 9" can fit in one

brazen canopy
#

like idc about them anymore

fathom socket
#

how about this then

brazen canopy
#

eh

fathom socket
#

its a hard top na

gaunt prism
#

Wasn’t mine, wouldnt buy a jap car

fathom socket
#

one exists in USA

meager hinge
#

hard tops with fd wings look really good actually

fathom socket
#

The miata M coupe

#

also the NB coupe

meager hinge
gaunt prism
#

They’re not the same

meager hinge
#

yes

fathom socket
#

they are

#

because NB and NA are pretty much the same

#

underneath

gaunt prism
#

Uhm....

fathom socket
#

just with improvements

gaunt prism
#

Maybe underneath

#

One is convertible one is coupe

fathom socket
#

oh

#

you mean like that

#

I thought you meant NA and NB were different

#

The only part that doesnt cross fit between NA and NB are the fuel tank

#

and the spare tire

#

I believe

#

but dont quote me on that one

gaunt prism
#

Think I like the convertible more, looks a bit strange in a coupe

dense shard
#

Coupes aren't factory

gaunt prism
#

Might be the spoiler though lol

fathom socket
#

They are though?

dense shard
#

No

#

Hardtop=/= coupe

fathom socket
#

No

#

The coupe is a factory option for the NB

dense shard
#

Where?

fathom socket
#

Mostly outside the US

#

Wasnt it japan only

dense shard
#

...

#

Hong Kong only as a super limited edition

fathom socket
#

Yes it was

#

japan only

dense shard
#

I wouldn't count that personally

fathom socket
#

I just looked it up

#

179 produced

#

For japan only

dense shard
#

Yeah... I wouldn't count that personally

fathom socket
#

Also in 2003, a division of Mazda in Japan released the Roadster Coupé, with a fixed hardtop roof. The body structure was reworked to incorporate the roof and gave a substantial increase in chassis rigidity with a weight increase of 10 kg (22 lb). Production was limited to 179 units for Japan only, making this one of the rarest forms of the MX-5.

dense shard
#

Misread, apparently an example sold in HK recently

fathom socket
#

Probably

#

imported

#

because pretty sure there is one in US too

#

Also MX-5 NB received one star for pedestrians

#

NB is the best car to run people over

gaunt prism
#

Hahahaha

#

Now you know

fathom socket
#

@dense shard The one off special was the NA Coupe

#

The Miata M Coupe

#

Which is a concept car currently in US

meager hinge
#

no thats the mustang

fathom socket
#

Stop trying to complicate things

meager hinge
#

mustang drivers are idiots

fathom socket
#

My explanation is correct and yours is wrong

#

I wont have it any other way

meager hinge
#

smh

#

you're diverging from the truth

fathom socket
gaunt prism
#

Fucking frenchy

fathom socket

A jap powered french car, that’s the stuff of nightmares

gaunt prism
#

Yea actually I guess so

meager hinge

shame we don't get alpines in the US

#

I need a 3nd set of steelies for my focus mk1 but I'm confused with all parameters

stoic ledge
#

@fathom socket

a.aJxbb

a.a is the width of the rim in inches, bb is the diameter of the rim in inches

ET cc

ET is a measurement which indicates how far away the hart of the wheel is relative to the centre of the wheel in millimeters

So, for example, a rim with dimensions 6.5Jx16" is 6.5" wide and 16" in diameter. With an ET 30, it's hart (mountingplace of the wheel) is offset 30 mm to the outside compared to the centre of the wheel

Tire size: aaa/bb Rcc
aaa: width of the tire in millimeters
bb: height if the sidewall in percentage relative to the width of the tire
cc: the diameter of the rims

@fathom socket depends on the car, but it wouldn't be a bad idea either way

my tires are old, too narrow and too short

I'm gonna to get bigger rims too but I still have no idea how to choose

fallow plover
#

I would recommend an oil cooler if going to a track, bcs If I press my car hard (BMW 320CI) it even gets hot on the streets doing autobahn speeds, still within reason for too hot, highest Ive seen yet was somewhere close to 110C recorded with an M3 cluster and its with imperial gauges

fathom socket
#

actually my heat needle bounces left and right

flint sable
fallow plover
#

going in a straight line at high speeds wont heat up as much, but track where you keeping high revs and not as high constant speed, there would not be as much heat going away from the oil

fathom socket
#

I'm worried more about oil temp

#

because IDK if my car can even indicate that oild is overheating

#

but I very often rev my car high

#

and on autobahn I drive usually at 4k RPM

carmine summit
#

I'd say get an oil cooler then probably

fallow plover
#

You could go a different route, where you buy an oil temp gauge if not already fitted somewhere, then best case, you just glance at the gauge and see if you get akward temps or not

#

If buying a gauge, make sure both the sensor and gauge can act fast, so there is no waiting time when you have warmed up to about 95-100C and then you drive half a lap for it to update the temp is 110C

#

most gauges arent that slow tho, but I would suggest buying a branded gauge like Innovate, AEM or alike
