RF's are nice, Kicker .... is good if you research first. I'm not familiar with anything other than Alpine or RF mostly because I've had no need to research other brands (and like the reference sound offered by Alpine Type-R speakers), but Kicker makes low end junk all the way to their high end stuff.

The 944 was overpriced, slower than the RX-7, the 280zx was more expensive than the RX-7 and just as fast. People praise the 944 cause it's got a porsche badge, but it was clearly not the right choice. I see the same kind of situation today
