it's a decent colour
Oh, wait. $1,200
Makes sense, base Giulia lease is already β¬650/month here
Can't even select a Giulia Q
base giulia is unreliable
and not only here
i mean
other giulia
also unreliable
great car, but the engines
just M113K swap them lmao
and Stage II tune it to 580hp with 900Nm
lmao
No
Yeah yeah Italian unreliable yeah yeah
Reliability like a ferrari,
Rotary is more reliable than Giulia
Maserati granturismo also ferrari modular engine
I've heard lots of reliability issues with Giulia
π
dont use the ferrari modular engine for reliability
Yea, I'd feel more comfortable dailying my RX-7 than owning an Italian car
If I had money to buy a Giulia GTAm, noone would stop me from M133K swapping it
Well the 2.9 V6 maybe, buy the 2.0.Turbo is fine
no
though I do really want a Lancia Fulvia
its also terrible hahaha
even the i4 is not reliable
think of it as half a ferrari modular engine
no V shape, just /
nah thats the breadvan
π€
At some point in my life, after I've obtained and completed all my el cheapo car projects, I'd like to get at least one other classic.
Such as a Lancia Fulvia
or an HB Cosmo with a 12AT
I've been reading some owners experiences and reviews... And I see nothing bad about the 2.0T
Soonβ’οΈ
π€
So you have a glass ball which makes you look in to the future?
I'd buy a Veloce

Don't like Mercedes
Just get rotary
r26b swap it
The biggest misconception about rotaries is what makes people think they are unreliable
Rotaries are reliable
BUT, they have a shorter lifespan than a piston engine
yes.
even a properly maintained rotary will die shortly after 200k miles at a maximum
but bridgeports will not last very long
ah
and turbos, if your cooling setup isn't adequate, will also not last long
just 2 stroke mix the fuel in a rotary
ah yes
yea, I premix my rotary
helps with the cooling too
I'd love a Giulia Quad
eh, not really
Absolutely amazing car
it does
maybe help cool the fuel pump
same princible as in 2 strokes
I'd love a Giulia Quad
@indigo coral buy it
no. Premix doesn't really help cooling in a rotary. It'd be like premixing a 4 stroke piston engine and expecting it to run cooler
I'll prob end up with a G70 instead
The quad is $$$ and it's less reliable than the G70
We only got a 280hp Veloce
Now, the actual engine oil, that does MASSIVELY help cooling. In fact, rotaries are primarily cooled by oil.
(if I ever even get to have a nice car like the g70, I need something a bit more practical than that)
what is that
not sure I'll ever be able to get something impractical tbh.
Looks like a 2003 design
I think I'll just keep my W201, that thing looks ew
The G70 has a small trunk unfortunately. Otherwise it would be perfect for me.
It panders to some of my idiosyncrasies
Lol
Who needs a trunk
Costco runs require big trunk
I've filled the entire back end of my RX
that headunit/centerconsole is horrible, but otherwise that interior is actually decent
nah nothing beats this interior bruh
Well it's a 2000 FCA headunit
Shopping for 10+ people necessitates quite a bit of stuff lol
I want an 16v but yeah
147/156/166... Also head that headunit
uhhhuh
Best interior
166 was different then?
NO
Looks similar
It's shockingly comfortable
I don't know them in that much detail
Wow, looking at these old interior photos, my idle oil pressure was mega high
But then again, my idle was like 500rpm too high
Rip
@civic girder so ur the rotary boi here
yes
1.4 Turbo Meriva 170hp whop whop
im not gonna turbo the 190E tho
(got it remapped)
Specifically searched for the 5spd F17 vs the 6spd M32
I wish I could pull an extra 20hp out of my car or sometbing
5spd with the same power actually has a faster 0-62mph/100kmh time compared to the 6spd, since it can do it in 2nd vs 3rd on the 6spd
It wasn't fixed untill September 2013 lol
So it will happen eventually

I wish I could pull an extra 20hp out of my car or sometbing
Me2, that's adding 25%

I wish I could get more fuel economy.
Step 1 to reduce fuel economy: stop driving at 85mph
These under the blue 190E
should I or should I not
video from the other night
Oh trust me. I drive more slowly than not.
revving with the air cleaner off
Problem is living in a very hilly area.
@median egret no
you can hear the carb succ
or these
idk
Problem is living in a very hilly area.
Going downhill is basically using 0 gas
@median egret no again
And going up hill uses more than 0 gas.
Sure but all together it shouldn't really matter
and yeah kinda stradman ish
Don't
why not just go with the old school monoblock wheels?
but I love white wheels
No.
which ones
For a white car, I'd say black wheels are the way to go.
Creates a nice contrast.
Also white on a sports car is asking for it to look grungy af.
does
But that's just me.
I'd love to have a white FB
but idk if it was an actual factory color option
and ooo
Yea, I know the FC did
I mean... it's hard not to know the FC came in white. lol
They also look good in yellow
I feel like they could take a pastel pink
ew no
This was the factory blue option
If I'm getting a newer car. Then it sure as heck isn't going to be black/white.
dont buy new cars
there are enough
buy classics
unique and actually standing out
but that creates a paradox
If I'm getting a newer car. Then it sure as heck isn't going to be black/white.
Mine's black and white
depends
if you don't buy new cars then there will be no more cars
And if we don't buy new cool cars, automakers won't make anything cool or new.
^
yeah ik but
no buts
If you only buy used, prepare for the consequences of there being no more manuals.
π§
I really like the dark blue you can get for the 3 series.
an RS4 is kinda fucking casual while a 1971 280S will stand out a lot
Also to say older cars are more interesting...
Oooh, this has headlight cleaners
Dunno if I'd call a 70s Chevette good or interesting.
depends
I really like the dark blue you can get for the 3 series.
Yes, but AlpineweiΓ is also nice as M-Sport
They're slower, less convenient, and worse on gas.
you'd be surprised how many autos lack gear counts and have shit gearing
Corolla, Civic, Fit are notable cases.
Modern Auto's with 9489593 gears are often more economical
^ pls gib
In the case of larger german cars... automatics are faster.
As for convenience. No contest there. You put in drive and go.
It just sucks how you barely can get manuals anymore.
But I like shifting myself
oh yeah, new safety features have actually rendered manuals obsolete.
But automatics are better for majority of people these days.
Even Mazda has admitted the only reason they sell manuals is because they're "more fun."
At least in the Mazda 3.
They should add a manual to the Turbo Mazda
But they won't.
I've heard otherwise tbh.
I wasn't massively blown away when I test drove the Mazda 3.
Mazda manuals good
I forgot which engines you have to get with the 3 series. But I think it was one of the smaller diesels.
paddle shifters are so lame and boring tho
Rest is automatic.
there's zero effort involved
Zero effort is fine.
where's my clutch and stick
Sometimes I just want to cruise.
@stoic ledge that is why you get robotized manuals and get something that you can use as a manual or that you can put in full auto mode when you're not feeling like it.
Definitely not as good as moving a physical lever to the wanted gear
get 190Es cuz theyre best cars
I'd actually rather have a ZF 8HP than robo manuals
Automatic or nothing.
I don't want weird in betweens.
DCT, SMG, automated manuals.
Either I actuate the clutch, or it's a torque converter.
you need as much mechanical sensibility to drive a robotized transmission correctly as you need to drive a manual
If it's a manual, let me control it. Not some Computer
^
I like the clutch in my E46
sequential transmissions uwu
Automatic: good
Manual: good
inbetween: blah
@dense shard this
But if I have the choice, manual > auto
All. Day. Long.
I haven't found or heard of a smooth shifting clutch based automatic yet.
Automated manual only work for one type of vehicle. Heavy duty trucks.
automated manuals or whatever are boring and lame. They shift so fast and the computer holds your hand the entire time. You can't fuck it up because the comptuer won't let you
But even then, I have overheated mine a few times.
Oh I wouldn't call em boring.
The Hyundai I test drove was quite eventful... not in a good way.
this is why electric cars
Gimmie a ZF 8 speed.
Uhh. Automates manuals shift fairly slowly. At least compared to dual clutch cars.
The only auto I'd consider is a ZF 8HP
Single clutch automatics tend to be not very smooth, and not daily drivable.
dual clutch is also really boring, imo
DCT in my experience also isn't very smooth.
DCT isn't smooth either
CVT, torque converted geared automatic or generic manual will be your best bets for comfort.
And it shifts gear waaay to ofteb
"drive like manual"
ok, let me reach for my stick, oh wait
depends
Truck shifts are way smoother if I drive it smoother.
I mean... at this point my family's CVT has a "like manual" function. I can slap stick that thing.
my experience with CVT is pretty good
I get 7 gears in sport mode.
fake shift CVTs are really shitty
I never use it.
Corolla CVT with augmented gears are actually fine
I've heard of a few issues on those.
fake shift CVT is worse than automated manuals
My truck has a sports mode as well. It's really just there to hold the gears a tad longer.
Goodnight
at least with an automated manual, there are actual gears
Cya
What is properly automated?
I'mma head to bed as well
BMW's was considered near the top, and it wasn't considered great.
There are no proper automated manuals
^
Cya as well
Hell... BMW dumped clutch based automatics, and went back to torque converters for the M5.
BMW's reasons was "you won't be able to tell it's so fast"
In an automated manual, you just put your foot in the floor and fall asleep. You don't even have to lift your foot off the throttle when you shift
thank u all btw and sleep well to yall too
I need to drive a 300k car to experience proper automation?
π π π
go drive a MC Stradale or a 430 Scuderia and report back, for instance
@turbid onyx ah yes, my neighbor has 3 of those
Yea, let me go find a rich friend who has a 430 Scuderia. Those are floating around everywhere
Also the 430 tech hasn't trickled down to pedestrian cars.
^
Could be Ferrari/Fiat have moved on to CVTs and DCTs?
Yea, but why do I need to drive a really expensive car to get a taste of something?
So you need to spend super car money to get a properly tuned gear box.
And at that price point you can't even get a manual to begin with.
I can spend 15k and get a properly perfect manual
I spent 23k and got a good enough manual.
With fast shifts
That's the same argument that having lots of horsepower is extremely necessary
Its not.
Toyota's stuff isn't perfect, but it is super comfy to drive.
Actually the Corolla is astoundingly easy to drive.
Mine's not super comfy since it has the sport suspension... Which is necessary with 83hp
If I had the opportunity to drive a 430 Scuderia, I would pass
Gearbox is fabulous tho
If I had the opportunity, I'd drive it.
But I judge cars by daily driving potential.
I'd drive it
I'd love to track it, but lol no money.
I feel like if I were to drive one, it would either be so good that anything else would feel lackluster afterwards, or it would be so uninspiring based upon my beliefs and past experiences that I would see it as a waste of time
My only worry is it would fall short of the Civic Si, and a well built Galant VR-4.
I'd waste my time at a Ferrari
I'd so waste my time on a Ferrari.
Given the opportunity, gimmie.
Do I want to own one? No. Too stressful. Do I want to drive one, yeah gimmie.
The only Ferrari's I'd actually want to drive, would be a 250 or a 288. Maybe a Testarossa.
I will drive literally any Ferrari.
Same
Cause I'm gonna get an experience an any Ferrari.
The only Lamborghinis I'd drive, would be a Countach
Novelty, rarity, speed, sound. Each one has something special going for it.
Lambo... same. Any Lambo, any time period.
For me, high speed is a downside.
rarity means nothing
novelty is highly subjective
sound and feel/handling are all that matter to me
Then Ferrari has those two with their more recent cars.
In fact they tend to have more of those than most other automakers.
And personally, most supercars don't even sound that good
partially due to DCTs
not to mention turbos and efi
Nothing wrong with electronic fuel injectin.
Hell... we've moved on to direct injection these days.
yes, but personally I think it sounds bland and uninspired
I wouldn't call modern ferrari bland.
Well my Corolla has duel injection, so I'm on the cutting edge.
port injection has been around for decades lmao
Not just emissions.
More flexible power, and more of it.
true
And washes the valves off.
tbh, you need port in addition to direct if you want reliability
I think my Toyota has it regardless.
Me whenever I try to invent new fueling systems
Just run carb. Cheap, easy, sounds good
and in na, minimal loss in power vs fuel injection
push button start.....oof
What's wrong with a button?
A key isn't a huge deal for me.
And a button makes me feel like I'm in the future.
The NC Miata did it right, I think
And no key chains dangling into my knee.
wireless, but you still turn to start
For me, its all about the experience. If something does something I don't want it to do, or doesn't do it the way I expect, then its just not worth it to me
Offroad car I swear
that's called FCA
Toyota's system is nice enough.
they do that shit on the daily
ew, start up sequence
bruh
You are sounding really really salty right now.
Do you like anything at all, or do you yearn for crank start and leaded gas?
Start up sequence:
- make sure it's in neutral and/or the clutch is in
- turn key
- profit
^
I don't want to like, push a button and wait for a bunch of shit to do its thing
I shouldn't have to wait for the computer to do its thing
I should just be able to get in, turn it on, and be gucci
I can push my button and go
I say as I sit in the driveway for 10 minutes with the choke out on the RX-7
Perfect
car just skips the show
The choke makes you work for it
you took it literally
I mean ig
idk
just go around and check tire pressure, get music setup, send a text or two
its not a big deal
Mmmm
I'd do the same on any other manual choke car
Proper way to startup from cold is to have your foot flat to the floor while cranking
cries in missing apex seals
that's a one way ticket to an absolutely fucked rotary
we're talking absolutely zero salvageable components

grinds gears
Gotta double clutch or else you are boned
I think its good insurance haha @civic girder
My uncle's Jeep didn't have a synchro for 3rd gear and I shifted to 3rd without grinding or bucking
I need that in the RX-7 lmfao
I double clutch my RX-7 on cold days before the trans warms up
what are cold days for ya
No start up song, but it's still a fun event.
50F and below
speak C
gib me a sec to do math
maht time
10C or lower
10c is warm
i almost ran it to redline when it was -30c
hmh yes warmin up
also clutch kicked
Hit the button, wait for things to settle down, and then I can.
No reason to gas it on start up.
I mean, I redline my RX-7 in cold temps. After the engine and trans/diff have reached operating temperature
i did when it was cold as hell
@dense shard does your car bong when you turn it on?
hmh smoke'nt
I hate that
It pings twice.

Accessories on ping to remind you.
The Prius beeps twice during startup as well.
It's a non-issue.
It just needs to start. I know I started it. I twisted the key/pressed the button. I don't need confirmation
beep to say you turned it on, beep to say hybrid system started successfully and you are ready to go
There isn't a single noise in my car that annoys me.
If you want annoying.
Japanese cars beep at you when you are in reverse.
Why would my own farts annoy me?
Everyone who rides in the Prius is instantly annoyed by the reverse beep
But it's not that annoying.
I'm so used to it
I spent maybe 20 seconds a day reversing.
I've known this car since the day it came off the dealer lot
its ingrained into me as just a part of the experience
This loaner car beeped 5 times... It's Soo annoying, can't handle it xD
I spent more time opening chopstick packets than I did reversing.
The prius experience
@stoic ledge ah, one of those key on beepers. I hate that. P sure Fords do that too, like my dad's Fusion
I have to reverse of the drive way, with a car parked 0.2" of the wall. So I have to back up slow
Y'all have weird annoyances.
@stoic ledge ah, one of those key on beepers. I hate that. P sure Fords do that too, like my dad's Fusion
@civic girder I hate it so much lol
https://youtu.be/tBzUqKnZwKU key on beep
my car doesnt even beep at all
https://youtu.be/tBzUqKnZwKU key on beep
@normal temple yikes
This is the cold start procedure for my FB RX-7, the video ends when the engine is warm enough to hold idle (aka, warm enough to drive); however, the engine is still cold and will have to be short shifted below 3 thousand rpm until it reaches operating temperature.
For those...
what temps on dis cold start yes
probs around 3 or 4 C
bruh
40c is a coldstart
i cant count 0c as a cold start
I know the ignition is on, I turned the key... I know the engine is runnig, I can hear it... No need for beeps
because -20c is still kinda warm
its a cold start regardless of ambient temps if the engine is not near operating temperature lmao
-20C is not warm.
it is
Nein
It is fucking cold.
I use the beeps as an indication the fuel pump is done priming @stoic ledge
Cause that's how my car works
not everyone lives in Antarctica bro
i live in finland
Clutch in, button pressed, car starts.
for some of us, 0C is normal for cold star
I use the beeps as an indication the fuel pump is done priming @stoic ledge
@normal temple ah... Well you can hear that usually as well... My car doesn't need that usually
Fair, my pump is only loud when outside
never seen anyone sayin 0c is cold start
You can literally hear my fuel pump
Weeeeeeee
find taim
so I just run key on on for a couple sec so there's pressure at the carb
you can hear the pump in my vid

sure
yesno
Corollas are nice.
Just get ready to pay the tofu tax.
The RX-7 has been sitting for a couple days, I kinda want to see if it will start without the choke
imagine eatin tofu
https://youtu.be/Po9sdOx2kuQ this is truly the ultimate coldstart
tofu is tasty.
Do it eastman
worth a try
tofu is nasty
but I'm a meat snob
tofu doesnt look good
π§
kaas does
So prep it, and cook it.
It's a blank culinary canvas.
I despise vegan foods. None I've tried has tasted remotely edible
I despise vegan foods. None I've tried has tasted remotely edible
@civic girder agreed
agree
veggies cant taste good
I've had some atrocious meat an veg in the past.
no matter what
...
I guess I am now.
:amger:
Use the white spice. It's called salt.
salt+salad
White π
hmh maybe not
Well it's not really a spice.
yeah
A short clip from a recent drive. Soft launch, mediocre shifts. Roughly 12.5 seconds or so. Factory rated 0-60 is 10.5 seconds; so not bad for having a (most likely) clogged catalytic converter and being old enough to have lost a few horses (not to mention my soft launch).
Vi...
slow boi
ye
π ±οΈery
Dorito go brrr
Oof
literally powar
Want to see the fastest car launch ever?
yes
are we there yet?
your Corsa sounds better than my RX-7 lmao
okay, that was perfect timing on your part

woah
I need to do my exhaust yesterday
finally my renoolt is better than smthin else
It's actually a bit faster now, I can do it in a whopping 14 seconds
lightweight racer?
Yes, it's a race car since it has a sports suspension
I wonder if I can get the RX-7 to 60mph faster than 15 sec now
car is cold lmao
Heat it up
I wonder if I can get 0-60 faster than 10 seconds
i wonder if i can get 100-0 in 1km
Yesn't
I should also test the Prius 0-60 sometime
the RX-7 only has front brakes rn
renoolt doesnt have brakes yes
@tight cypress smash a tree
drum brakes only
Don't have money to take part in races.
my rear drums are virtually inoperable at the moment.
Front brakes = 90% of the breaking
the rear brakes do something
Define significant.
Sure, 10%
Cause accelerated tire wear is a pretty huge cost.
I can tell because my pedal pulsates like a bucking bull
-18 mondeo brakes are just awful
My tires need replacing anyway
what
tap the pedal lil bit and ya stop
racing on open public roads sounds bad
are the roads closed
Racing a Corsa is like driving normal in any other car
That doesn't exist in the US.
ah yes
It's basically a time trial. Trick isn't to do it asap, but do it in an average speed/time.
Legality is questionable.
racing in open traffic sounds like not legal
In the US at any rate.
racing on gravel roads is legal
if ya dont get caught
same for everythin else on this planet
hmmm
No in the US you rent a Mustang, fill it with gas tanks and go coast to coast
And a racing license costs how much?
Cause any cost over free at this point is a pretty tall barrier for me.
have job
Still no job?
I don't.
oof
Rip
Because the fucking economy remains in shambles.
Rip
I start on the 16th
If I'm lucky I'll have a job this year.
I just got a contact for unlimited time on my student job
So I'm good 2 go
Yeah I'm familiar with them
GT π
That's why Alfa's have their plate on the side
That was yours?
Nice
Do I see... A tan interior π
Only one time rally in the US.
" It sponsors a variety of events of interest to owners of all types of MGs and closely related automobiles."
and go figure, they aren't open to outsiders.
Pls gib
oh and it's an 80 dollar fee to sign up for the event on top of a 25 dollar a year fee.
A colleague of mine has a black 147 with red leather interior
But like, one of the last model year. It's nice
I like the facelift more
156 pre-facelift yes
And the only other event is in... oh boy the west coast.
That's only a 4 days drive away.
At least it isn't open to only MGs... so that's a plus.
Ah
Zhe Vectra engine
Or Zafira

True
So did the 1.9 JTD iirc
Ohno
Friend had a 159 diesel with every option, but manual windows in the rear
oof
Also: very low amount of rear leg room lol
diesels are funny.
Doesn't change the fact diesels are torque bois.
Yes, but the engine speeds are much much lower.
A TDI will get full torque early on. My car needs to be wound out for torque.
Well a modern gas turbo also has low end torque
I don't have a turbo.

Spoily boiis
People want power, government wants fuel efficiency. So modern automakers make small displacement turbos. You get power and fuel economy at the cost of longevity.
I'm perfectly willing to trade power for longevity.
I want my car to outlast me.
I'll be 3 cars further down the line when this one stops running
I wanna hit a million miles.
Kek I'll probably sell this one after 2 years with like 110k miles on it
Because I'd want something bigger/faster/better equipped
For it to reach 1M miles, I'd need to drive it until I'm in the grave
I can see myself upgrading to something bigger in the future.
I'll see.
I'll probably end up with a Prius or Camry.
I want a Insignia B (2019 Regal) Grand Sport (hatchback) 1.6 Turbo manual since I expect those to be fairly affordable. Alfa Giulia doesn't depreciate fast enough

As long as the option exists it'll be nice.
clutch kicking it means
But don't count on it.
1.4T is too little, 2.0T was taxed too high. 1.6T is just fine
Lowest Giulia sold here was the 2.0T 200hp
π€
same as the US
We get the 2.0T.
No diesel for me, not with 2000 USD/year tax
I imagine it's the same engine with a different tune.
fuel oil time @stoic ledge
We got 200/280 2.0T and the 2.9 V6
US has no manual.
Rip
weird names
No u
still sounds weird
https://www.broekhuis.nl/images/vehicleimages/16524012/600_900/image_1.jpg
I'll probably get this next, with a manual

And the auto 2.0T? That was also ZF iirc
https://www.broekhuis.nl/images/vehicleimages/16524012/600_900/image_1.jpg
I'll probably get this next, with a manual
@stoic ledge rip this specific one is an auto
Good
if I'm lucky I'll be car shopping soon.
guess your only option is a 4c
Get a QV Giulietta
At least we got the Yaris GR.
giulia has a nice design tho
bad utility vehicle
So a crossover.
Maybe soon a new MiTo on the PSA 208 platform
lol
if they make a crossover they might aswell make a hatchback
B-segment is smoll cross-over, like the EcoSport
oof
same underbody usually
That entire segment is kinda miserable apart from like... 2 cars.
Just for your frame of reference
yeah i wouldnt go anywhere near a crossover
Same
If I was shopping for a small first car and I didn't care about manuals.
I'd probably go for a Hyundai Venue or Nissan Nicks.
Both reeeeeeeeeeeeee
good packaging, great price.
the front end is nice but the proportions would be way better on a saloon
Just get the regular hatchbacks instead of the CUVs
Oeh that interior looks nice
Exterior... Not sure yet
The Nissan Kicks has a nicely sized cargo bay.
Nissan doesn't offer a hatchback anymore.
Yes they do
Hyundai... well the Elantra GT isn't exactly cheap.
Yes I know
so u have a mito rn
Mazda 2
I might need the extra ground clearance for going mountain biking.
Or having extra boot space to store a bike.
You need this Monte
I'm looking at maybe getting the new 500e
Kek I expected that lol
god damn that is beautiful
A hitch rack isn't practical for me.
A hitch rack isn't practical for me.
@dense shard it's built in to the car
yeah the 500e looks pretty nice
knock knock
It looks like it attaches to a factory hitch point.
No
Something my car doesn't offer anyway.
It comes out of the bumper
^
ah I see that now.
Opel was the only one who did that
My only option is to get a hitch rack, and those don't work in my area.
move house ez
Toyota doesn't recommend it, and I'd have clearance issues.
I'll probably just pay out the ass for a roof rack.
Corsa-e
208-e
At least Toyota's roof bars are nice as far as OEM options go.
I sit worse in it than in my Corsa D, but then I'm a tall boi
e-208 is also way to expensive compared to the Corsa brother
all that extra dosh on interior design i guess
now that wouldve been epic
There's a good chance Nissan and Renault will break up.
the interior of the corsa aint bad but i think the peugot one looks quite alot better
Carlos really fucked over everything.
Corsa has HVAC buttons == superior
eXCUSEME
No
Btw, anybody seen this
https://electrek.co/2020/07/04/tesla-updates-warranty-problematic-media-unit-touchscreen/

"The trick to making Nissan profitable is to cost cut... in fact let's make the engines out of plastic!"
"The trick to making Nissan profitable is to cost cut... in fact let's make the engines out of plastic!"
1.3T also used by Mercedes
So 15 years later. Nissan is stuck with crap reputation, falling profits, and an under utilized factory infrastructure.
And a shit relationship with a French car company.
The Renault platforms are the only thing keeping them upright at the moment tho
True. Too bad those are getting on in age as well.
Nissan's underlying tech is actually pretty solid.
Lack of QC and cost cutting is really the biggest issue they have.
Yeah, but that's also Nissan's fault... For example the platform of the Versa, Renault had it in 2012, Nissan uses it for like a 2018
Ghosn forced it.
It was a cost cutting measure to let Nissan undercut itself.
I mean competition.
Dacia actually developed their own platform
Which is actually used by Nissan for the Kicks iirc
Yes
Apparently the current Kicks is still on a Nissan platform.
The new Indian market Kicks is a rebadged Duster.
Dacia's are nearly just as modern as Nissan's tho, they also use the latest Renault engines
Dacia is basically Nissan in the Renault relationship.
They're both second tier companies in the order of things.
Ah, then that's why I saw the Kicks name on the platform list
I imagine the India car will make it to the US eventually.
Even before that, the Sandero immediately got the 0.9 TCe from the start
oh wait... nvm.
Nissan V is the Renault/Dacia B0 platform.
They're the one and same. Joint development.
Kek
Well "joint"... Nissan only started using it now, didn't they?
And Dacia back in 2012
nah, they've been using it for the same amount of time.
Or 2013
The second generation platform came around in 2010.
Nissan Versa, Micra, so on and so forth.
OG platform since 2002.
Ah the B0 is just a stretched B-platform
yeah
The B platform is an automobile platform for compact and subcompact cars of the Renault-Nissan Alliance since 2002.
In case anyone else is wondering.
lol
RX-7 0-60 felt faster, but I didn't film or otherwise time it
Oof
An independent rear suspension replaces the torsion beam rear suspension found in the past three generation Sylphy/Sentra's.
yay 4th gen Sentra.
What's wrong with torsion bean
Not dynamic.
