Yeah well I've tried them out at the local BMW (M) dealership
But with constantly hitting the doorcard and/our B-pillar it's impossible to get comfortable
@stoic ledge Time to get a dacia
2011 Corsa -> 2011 Sandero Black Line feels like a downgrade
nope
๐
the sandero is the best car

saying otherwise
They want 230,000 SEK for that 1 series. I'll imagine that you can talk the price down a bit, though.
is heresy
Oof
229,800
183.840 for ex mothers?
Excluding taxes.
do they require you to put your child up for adoption?
Yes
or will disowning do?
22k EUR
That's not bad for an LCI 4-cyl manual Navi Professional M-Sport car
I'd honestly be down for that 118i.
Glhf
It's the 3 cylinder engine. ๐
It sounds like a lawnmower
I'd rather have the 3 cylinder, over the 4 cylinder.
For me it's either 3 or 6 cylinder.
Yall talking 3c when i got 8
Better weld them
Oof
Truck + E46 would be 12 cylinders and a volume of 9,9 liters.
Put a Fiesta body on it
With body in place
No Fiesta body
Enough to rotate the earth counterclockwise
I'd need a massively long final ratio to make that work
Fun fact
The Chevy volt has more torque than my 4.6
330lbft
Only 150 something hp
4.6 be like 292 hp with 315lbft
@wild tiger the mod actually made 202 in it's first iteration
murica
gas is free
Chevy Spark EV has more Torque than a 458 Ferrari
@devout atlas mod?
4.6 modular
4.6 modular, because DOHC is for nerds
@devout atlas this is the triton last version
only the 4.6 in the marauder had DOHC
@devout atlas this is the triton last version
@wild tiger ye, that's good
it still ain't the 302 hp DOHC 4.6 though
This is a issue for me
I got 6 forward gears
Yes
And irl 6 rev
Every forward gear is also available as reverse gear
you need a 7L big block
4 spd main shifter
3 spd low shifter
2 settings (fast and low) in each gear
432 = 24 gears
Forward - Neutral - Reverse selector = 24+24 gears
8.3 v10 time
Toybota engine by any chance?
Bobcat
nah
They have a 90hp 1.4 D
toyota has the 1.6 diesel
This is a bobcat
going into a poverty spec corolla
The largest one
l a r g e
1.6 diesel in a Corolla? i don't think so commie
1.6 diesel in a Corolla? i don't think so commie
@stoic ledge ye, we had one here in 2008
Im lucky its not a 2 stroke turbo diesel
@stoic ledge ye, we had one here in 2008
@devout atlas thonk
According to my knowledge, and confirmed by Wikipedia, there's a 1.4 and 2.0 diesel in such Corolla
Some bobcats have 1.6l fords
TDCI?
Baby ecoboost
According to my knowledge, and confirmed by Wikipedia, there's a 1.4 and 2.0 diesel in such Corolla
@stoic ledge you're right
my bad
1.4D
Wait the 1.6 EcoBoost in a bobcat? That's not bad
the 1.6 was a poverty spec petrol
@stoic ledge you're right
@devout atlas I always am
There was also a 1.3 in the Corolla
swap a 1jz in it

ez poverty s p ()rt car
sometimes i wish i had a 2.0T ecoboost or somethiung in my RX
lol
would be easier to work on
and faster
working on my RX sucks
I wish I had a 2.0 EcoBoost in the Corsa
Some older bobcats had 2.2l
43hp
having a 4 banger would make it so much easier to work on my car
Imagine the performance
@stoic ledge swap a 7l v8 in it
transverse motors are a pain in the ass
easy
it will
4.6 life
its truly boneheaded design to make you have to take off the entire intake and throttle system to replace f**king spark plugs
At least your plugs leave
What. A. Beast.
Unlike a 4.6
you don't need a windshield washer reservoir, or a battery in the engine bay
put that in the passenger seat
that car deserves a 7l v8
the motor is weaksauce too though mk
The 4.6 both shots and gets plugs stuck
Manual would make that 3.0 V6 fly
you're smart, i'm not ๐

Ford lets you shift over obd2
I've driven an automatic last Friday, has been a while
And well, automatic... Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) so it's horrifying
Even worse than a 1999 slushbox
I can also manual
the 2007 is decently fast trans
The 6r60 be like
and lots of hp
Its not smart
it's really not that bad otherwise
Listen to the shifts falcon, it's horrifying
Three times from zero to 100 km/h (and once to 130 km/h) in a 2016 Dacia Sandero Stepway TCe 90 Easy-R S&S. 90 hp gasoline engine with automated manual transmission. the spec says it should take 11 seconds, but in real life it takes 14 seconds.
I can get a cup of coffee in the meantime
@stoic ledge thats horrifying
Luckily it's connected to a massive ||0.9 TCe 3-cyl|| with all the power in the world
Hence why I said Even worse than a 1999 slushbox
It's basically just a manual controlled by a computer
Compared to these other two, that's a fast trans
But yeah the 350 isn't bad
and the 350 is actually willing to downshift quickly
When it comes to getting a newer car. Then I'm honestly also looking at getting a cheap econo-box.
do you have 300hp?
Soon* I will
* some day in the future
Something real entry level.
And just drive it into the ground during the time of warranty.
GREAT NEWS
im watching that video and the thing literally noticeably stops accelerating as it shifts
is that transmission functioning properly?
Buy maybe something like a Toyota Aygo.
Yes, it was actually worse before. The clutch got replaced under warranty
shudders
That's the actual way the car shifts
I wonder what would happen if you turboed the 350
Yes it's horrible
๐ค
Try it
no
lol
300hp from an NA 3.5L V6 is adequate
but it'll be a pain in the ass to work on
lol
sad Pikachu face
lexus claims 270 but its actually ~295-305
lol
Sometimes I wonder if Ford overrates their motors
they claim our Taurus has 365hp
same as a Genesis G70
yet teh G70 pisses all over it
similar torque figures too
I dragraced my Corsa to a 2000 Corsa B 1.5 Turbo Diesel with a whopping 69hp (giggity)... Mine was faster
lol nice
I lost to a saturn astra
Nice
We could actually get that exact Astra with a 1.4 producing 90hp
Or a 95hp 1.3 diesel

This Ford 5.4L 3 valve engine has all of the typical variable cam timing modular engine issues. Unfortunately, this one has been neglected for far too long. It has multiple missfire codes and a dead miss on one cylinder. It also has a P0022 code for an over retarded cam shaft....
yeah the 5.4 3valve suuucks
52 minute video
@indigo coral have you ever been in a scenario where the 220hp V6 wasn't fast enough to get along with traffic? Can't imagine it won't suffice
I've been on on ramps that I can barely make it up to 60 by the end of it
@stoic ledge
so if i wanted to fix the chains for good on my 4.6 its like half the cost of a f150
I nearly always shift at 4000rpm which gets me up to highway speeds without a problem
Lucky
so if i wanted to fix the chains for good on my 4.6 its like half the cost of a f150
Take out engine of F150
Put it in an Exploder
Fix it
*** P R O F I T***
My redline is like 6300 and it'll usually shift at like 5000ish if I'm deep in the pedal
Occasionally it'll get close to redline
Doesnt seen to do much at that point tho
I have a 1MZ-FE in my car
The '99 RX has a higher redline than the later first gens
Because it's cheap
I wonder if the 2007 is timing belt or chain?
the plastic falls off
the 350
and you have issues
@stoic ledge do you know?
No I do not
ah
I'd have to Google it myself xD

That's a big downside, oof.
Thonk
belts are typically more reliable, no?
Well depends
seems like every car with a timing chain has ridiculous problems
Depends if the owner is stupid or not
the best way of doing time is a push rod
And if it's a VW or not
Idk if thr chain is remotely reliable in the rx350
Chain runs through the oil. Always keep the oil level at max. If oil gets low, you corner hard -> chain can run partially dry -> chain stretches -> big rip
ford 5.0ho is also
Our explorer chain stretched but it was never run low on oil
So idk
I'm skeptical of timing chains
3.5 Ecoboost
EcObOoStO
i havnt seen it happen on eco boost
i know the older 4.0 was full of it
idk what id get if i had to jump off the explorer
Our 2013 SHO is 3.5 Ecoboost too but knocks on wood it's been good thus far
head gaskets
Here's a question
Here's a question
That's not a question
Who in the flying fuck thought it was wise to make a water cooled alternator
That's some of the dumbest shit I've heard in quite a while
Who in the flying fuck thought it was wise to make a water cooled alternator
Never watched LTT videos?
Water cooling > everything
Ltt doesn't make cars
Water cooling the exhaust gases in my cylinders
Water cooling my water
#hydrolock
water cooling my air-cooled engine
Ice water on hot engine block = profit
exactly
I need to water cool my infotainment
I'm in me jaag
@indigo coral my fords radio has a amd geode in it
and a lincoln LS
i dont have a screen
CD 6 ๐
CD changer
Also: why do US Radios only pick up odd radio frequencies lol. When imported to Europe, you can't receive have the radio stations
Also: best Infotainment screen
and yes, we actually use manuals
@devout atlas
US: Is this: an anti-theft device?

@stoic ledge na
Yes
Heard tonnes of stories about a vehicle being stolen.
And then dumped instantly for being a manual.
Fun fact

this is 2007 interior
Yes
And aux
Oh yes
Same
E46 interior. ๐
because dad
@devout atlasHi dad I'm MK
Black on black on black on black
Silver paint.
It's really not that hard
It's difficult + I'd rather let the car handle fragile gears not me
@indigo coral road trips suck with a stick
@indigo coral road trips suck with a stick
@wild tiger why?
You have to shift
- Put car in highest gear
- Leave it there for the next 300 miles
it seems that americans get a shittier version of teh corolla
I don't see the problem
traffic with a stick seems like a nightmare
That doesn't work
yep that's the 2007 Corolla here
The interior is awful
Friend of mine unfortunately has one
That's the older Corolla interior
We get 23% grade
it looks like a 2004 corolla interior right there
It's so plastic and garbage it's ridiculous
With hills
Friend of mine unfortunately has one
@indigo coral too bad he doesn't have the chad tier International model
I would 100% want a manual if I lived in a hilly area.
or just put it on cruise control and let the car do the work
Engine braking.
My truck will drop to 3rd at times
I would 100% want a manual if I lived in a hilly area.
Same
Brake pads ain't expensive
Warped rotors is worse.
Plus it's damn near impossible to smoothly start on a hill in a manual
@stoic ledge true luxury is having 2 gloveboxes on the passenger side
or just put it on cruise control and let the car do the work
Same, but even my 1.2 can keep it up to speed on hill autobahns
if you don't brake like a dumbass you won't get warped rotors
@indigo coral Is it? ๐ค
Worst case I have to downshift once
Plus it's damn near impossible to smoothly start on a hill in a manual
@indigo coral never had an issue
I haven't had many issues starting in steeper hills.
Must be a skilled driver
I parked on a 45 degree hill
I mean people roll back into the car behind them all the time because they cant start up hills here
That was fun
I know one girl who totalled her mustang doing that
Who parks on a 45ยฐ hill
You can cheat and use the hand brake.
Me
I know one girl who totalled her mustang doing that
@indigo coral v6 convertible?
Kek
It was a "ramp"
Actually a respectable car.
To a exit door
GT.
@indigo coral ouch
That's one steep ramp
I probably can't even get up to that lol
Wish I could get a mustang
I have 4wd
crashes into crowd
So 45 is easy
Tho if I was gonna spend the money id prob get a used i8 or something interesting
Steepest steet we have here in Stockholm is 22% grade.
Wish I could get a mustang :E_MonkaThink:
@indigo coral you like crashin' into crowds?
I'm more worried about the approach and departure angle lol
Tho if I was gonna spend the money id prob get a used i8 or something interesting
@indigo coral saab
The explorer has plenty
no, not a Saab
no, not a Saab
@indigo coral why?
Its 8in min clearence
Unless you can find me a 2012 9-5 Sportcombi Aero that's US Legal (there's virtually none)
I don't have 8" clearance
Also the ramp was not a angled one
Unless you can find me a 2012 9-5 Sportcombi Aero that's US Legal (there's virtually none)
@indigo coral there are exactly 0
There's at least 1
Unless you can find me a 2012 9-5 Sportcombi Aero that's US Legal (there's virtually none)
@indigo coral fine, polestar?
9-5 NG SC was never officially build nor licensed, only some weird construction can get the preproduction registered in Europe
Ah
That's not the real SC xD
Lol
Nice and steep.
It's a damn fine looking car
Looks like a squished explorer g5
"Saab"
Yeah shame they went bust
9-3 was basically a Cadillac BLS as well
Literally the 9-5 SC could be a 2020 MY car and it would fit right in
Yes
hol up
It's a real shame
you want something interesting
Would have wanted one
right?
Volkswagen jetta
No
All that junk on the back
1991
Don't
or get a 4Ws honda prelude
ngl i8 vs Mustang GT I'd pick the i8
Even has the tail
ngl i8 vs Mustang GT I'd pick the i8
@indigo coral would you pick an i8 over a 4WS honda prelude?
it has 4Ws
oof
@indigo coral we actually have a price for the Explorer in ๐ณ๐ฑ, only โฌ80k
Quite cheap compared to a base Mustang GT costing โฌ110k
Brand new the i8 is a scam but used it's a bargain
You can find em under 50k sometimes
Good thing that i8 isn't being made anymore.
I don't mind it either. But it was a weird, and special kind of car.
Its too much money from new
it has no power to back shit up
But used it's solid
King of depreciation.
400hp is adequate
@stoic ledge a base explorer is like 28k usd
At 50k 400hp is good
if you want interesting
i8 is probably a solid daily.
get a volkswagen XL1
do y'all know ablut the volks XL1?
The XL1 is hilarious
I payed 7250 for 300 hp
Yes
It gets what, 200mpg?
Yes but do your doors go up? @wild tiger
On paper
Lol
I would totes drive a VW XL1.
LOL
Lift gate
it certainly looks interesting doe
@devout atlas looks like a ev1
it's from 2011
Did they ever actually sell any?
What other similar cars are there?
3 for ๐ณ๐ฑ , which actually came with a Dutch owners manual. For 3 cars, they made an entire owners manual
So looks like a ev1
imo the biggest flaw with the BMW i8 was the price. The performance just wasn't there for 150-200k. If they priced it at 80k they'd have sold like hotcakes.
I think it looks really nice
But they'd loose 100k on each car
Wait deadass?
It has an entire carbon fire structure/frame which is extremely expensive to make
inb4 buy that instead of a G70
Do it
(the g70 is probably faster)
ah not quite
But closer than bmw would like to admit
4.1 seconds to 60 vs 4.5 for the G70
๐
I can beat that
I said 60, not 6
You guys wanna know what's sad? A stretch of road around here that is considered a "fun" road isn't fun for me anymore.
You can't drive it without going way over the speed limit.
At least if you want the fun aspect of it.
oof
Which means loss of a drivers license if you get caught.
yikes don't do that
49kmh over it is
Yes
49km/h over will give me like a โฌ1k fine, but I won't loose my license
30 kmh over is no bueno for us.
18mph over
Oof that's strict
18 over would get you a fat ticket here but it takes more than that to lose your license
100 in a 70 kmh zone.
That mixed two songs to boot.
I'm gonna to end up having a moped
I should probably get a moped.
I'm just gonna to have it for 4 months
I can't afford a car
Because insurance is gonna to cost 5x the price of the car
@fathom socket welcome to the moped gang

everything she says sounds so forced
Can't listen to her for longer than 0.1 seconds, otherwise I'm already dead
@stoic ledge more like 0.4 fentomseconds
the yaris has the single most depressing interior of any car
not to mention the fact that you'd fare better sitting on stone stools
compared to yaris seats
but
it looks like an enthusiastic little kid
from the outside
so it evens out
Party on the outside
Business on the inside
More like economy seating*
Omg she is irritating isn't she
at this price, I'd rather get a 1980s buick
being impaled by the steering wheel is still better than sitting on yaris seats
I'd take the Yaris. That will at least run for a few more decades.
The seats are not the worst
The gearbox and pedals are killing me
And the steering wheel is too far away for me
The pedals are very stiff
Shouldagota mazda 2
Mazda 2's reliable
Used
Im in UK got mines at 55k miles 9 years old for ยฃ2000
But earliest I can find are from 2010
mines is a 2010 model yeah
U got it so cheap because it's UK
UK cars are cheaper than mainland European ones
An mx 5 costs like 8000 CHF here
But I can buy a nice focus mk1 for like 800 CHF

Nice.

Not all "flat bottom" steering wheels are that bad
Some are unnecessary but its pretty cool to have in specific cars
Yeah, but point is that by and large they are more flair than practical.
I like the aesthetics, and I'll take it over fake vents any day of the week.
How much does it cost to get two bumpers painted?
big grilles only look good on Bentleys
I just got an ad on youtube advertising manual corollas
It depends on what level of work you want done.
I understand that doing the prep work yourself can save you a fair amount.
So sanding and cleaning could be a decent discount.
You guys know how some newer mustangs and camaros have the exhaust noise control?
What is the name for it and is there a way to install something like it on another car? Like say you have a super loud โ05 WRX
It depends on the car and company.
oh wait... I'm an idiot. You are talking about louder exhaust things?
That's easy. Install a louder exhaust.
If you want to get creative. The Mustang Boss 302 from last generation had a flap you could remove from before the mufflers to give you more noise.
GM has a flap thingie inside the muffler that partially bypasses it giving you more sound.
So you'd have to search for something like... dunno active exhaust?
@fathom socket you can install a valve somewhere in the exhaust that does an open dump when you switch it
Ford's take was even simpler. It was a baffle plate you'd remove. lol
Electric cut out qtp / qtec33k1 .. Itโs just what I wanted, something that will give me an option of listening to that v8 rumble when in need.๐
Like this
Question is why.
I think having a Y-splitter in the exhaust and having one side go into the muffler and the other go into nothing is a better idea.
Just block off the muffler-less bit if you don't want noise.
Sounds like a good way to kill a lot of power esp on a turbocharged car
Eh, ideally the muffler itself won't provide any more backpressure.
Then again a turbo'd car is already slightly muffled by virtue of the turbo itself.
but when you block one side, that increases the back pressure by a lot
At least to my mind
Well here's my idea.
You have the stock exhaust, you just install a Y-pipe at some point in it.
One side goes with the stock flow. The other side basically dumps direct.
You block that bit off when you don't want noise.
you can achieve the same result with one valve at one section that opens up
But that could sound kinda sharty. I'd say just get a nice sporty muffler and strike a balance between noise and sound.
Valve tho isn't the most reliable.
Personally I say skip the bullshit, and just go with a muffler. lol
and if we're talking WRXs... get unequal length headers. It's not the noise with subarus, it's the sound.
They are unequal length stock
Not the new ones.
they mentioned '05
Well yeah 05' is a different story.
I doubt active exhaust would help too much with making them louder. I'd say just get a muffler.
I am considering getting brand new bumpers and trying to get them professionally painted @dense shard
That would work.
To refresh my cars aesthetics a bit
Go for it.
Previous owner bumped into some stuff lol.
Just the plastic bumpers, but it's kinda ugly.
I'd rather not spend like 1k$ on it though
Ok thanks
I would go to a local paint shop.
And avoid any chains since they have some serious quality issues from what I can tell.
For paint, expensiver is betterer.
hm. Maybe I'll just live with it if i might be getting the 2007
true
Though that one as a cosmetic flaw I'd need to repair too
If you are getting the 07, no reason to upgrade your current ride.
All the more reason to wait.
Dent below the tail light in the back, pushed in but not creased so it could probably be pulled out and touched up and look decent
On the 2007
(bumped into their deck ๐)
Right in that vicinity
that car needs a good wash and wax
That's not the actual car
oh, lol
That's just a pic I pulled from Google
Aside from the dent in the 2007, it's in damn near brand new condition
Only 52k (iirc) miles too

nice
If I get the 2007 I'm certainly gonna pay to have that dent fixed, since the rest of the car warrants it
The paint is in excellent condition and whatnot
need to replace the trunk popper button rubber cover tho
It went gooey and nasty
Easy to do though I think
It'll require a few screws I imagine.
2 Philips head screws but the hard part is gonna be finding an angle to get at them
Probably will be sometbing like that yeah
The mako set actually has a flexible extension thingie.
Maybe it's easy to get at once you try, just looks awkward
Ok
I need to buy one at some point anyways
Or, the so eloquently named, IFucksIt kit (buy all the parts off AliExpress)
The one I have is only 35 dollars.
oh nice
Comes with the flexy extension bit.
I know I'm sounding shilly, but the quality is really nice. lol
nah that doesn't sound shilly
my cars 10 years old and a rusted subframe is already a MOT item :^|
Classic

is the Porsche Boxster 1998 worth buying?
Anything old is gonna require some repairs.
Mazda is a nice choice tho.
There's also a Nissan 350z and 370z.
By all accounts they are pretty durable and reliable.
meh old cars dont require repairs
my -98 megane is still runnin good without any repairs
lol
They require upkeep. And after a point you'll start getting into non-consumable repairs such as bushings, shocks, timing belts, and the such.
I also assume you drive it daily for many miles
@tight cypress Yes
Cool
Compared to what... Civic, Corolla, Escort?
Compared to a old 30's coupe from the scrapyard the yeah it was great
They drove even though underpowered, slow, and yet somewhat reliable if you could find parts when they left the US
Then it's probably a 55L tank
@sudden plaza sorry for yet another ping, but are you sure it's 55L? I only see an optional 62L tank in the price list
or something like that xD
Cool nice timing xD
hahaha
But yeah I have the same list
And it's 62L indeed
I knew the Business Sport had it as standard
And although I've looked through the list 38023 times, I didn't notice it before on the other price list
Although it could also be a V40 Business Sport, seems to work out equipment wise
I have the business summum with a sport styling package

As far as I could figure out, the Business Sport is the Business R-Design + Winter Line + Business Connect Pack + 62L fuel tank
Color Passion Red I'd say? Otherwise idk xD
"ours" is:
- Business Sport OR Business R-Design + Winter Line + Business Connect Pack + 62L fuel tank
- 18" Ixion II
- Onyx Black Metallic
- Exterior Styling Kit "R-Design"
- Spare Tyre
That's it I'd say, it's not super full equipped
Got it

al the option except for the standard stuff thats in the summum itself or the different lines
Nice!
41K new
hahah
V40's with adaptive cruise are rare I've found out
Classic
like a base summum D4 with the intellisafe pro line
