3 > 4 Cylinder
I prefer the sound of 3 cylinders over the 4 pot.
4 pot runs smoother tho
I'd go 4 cylinder if I have the option.
Hi Guys,
This video is a demonstration of the Before & After sounds of removing the Backbox and Resonator on the F21 BMW 1 Series!
Sounds absolutely insane to me, and I hope this gives you guys insight into what your car may sound like if you decide to get your muffler and r...
4 cyl is the PSA/BMW Prince engine though
resonator delete

vrrrmmmm BWAAAAA angry bee noises here
Would have gotten more back if work travel went through.
I was right at the limit for it.
My little Mini now has 299 HP exactly.
...which we'll call 300 because the dyno showed 299.71, which I'm going to round up
I think what it needs next is an Eventuri intake
Because I want more turbo noises
Pretty sure that bottom one is illegal as well
That bottom one hurts me.
Local car meet is back
what do you guys think of this wallpaper from wallpaper engine
ok car people I need some advice
My BF got me a birthday gift where I get to drive a super car around the countryside, but I get to chose which one
488 GTB vs 911 GT3 RS vs 570s ? any thoughts
(also a Huracan, C8 Z51, R8 V10, GTR, AMG GTR, NSX or Gallardo, but I was leaning towards the others)
lmao right
I think the tightest debate is between the 3 I picked out
Those three have always been like the goals car
haha no worry
Oof yeah I have no idea. They'd all be a ton of fun.
488GTB. Ferrari will always be a more special experience. It's THE sports car.
911... you could have driven a Ferrari. McLaren... yeah but Ferrari.
Unless you want to drive a non-turbo car. That's easy. GT3.
Trueee
Ferrari being a Ferrari was a legit thought I had lol
I also was worried the GT3 RS might be harsh on country roads? vs. the Ferrari which is more GT oriented
can I choose d. All of the above? 😂😂😂
Bahaha right
I'd skip the Audi for sure.
He almost got my a full day guided tour where you get to try all of them, but it was way more expensive and adding him as a passenger was basically the cost of two tickets lol
Lambo is basically the same car, but more exciting.
Yeah, my real debate was just between the GT3 RS and 488 GTB, with maybe a little of McLaren 👀
I was debating between the McLaren or the 488 GTB
The Audi is a great car but isn't as much of an experience
Same with the NSX
Yeah, a lot of the ones in the second list didn't really peak my interest
Like the AMG GTR
I mean they're all nice cars but if you wanna go drive a C8 Corvette, borrow one from a dealer lot for a test drive lmao
Are there any on lots right now? I hear they're totally sold out right now.
lol true, I get the car for longer than a testdrive though haha
And no one watching over my shoulder as I drive lolol
I want to do that lol
ngl I really want to drive a G70, that's my somewhat attainable dream car
I'd pick the GT3RS, I've driven a couple old Porsches and they were really fun to drive
I've heard good things about the new Porsches too
Yeah, Genesis G70 3.3t
I want to drive one at some point to know if it's as good as I've imagined but idk how I'll be able to make that happen
I should have taken more pictures
I also want a Previa so bad after seeing one in person
they don't do car shows here besides the 1 time a year mustang meet ;-;
A previa is like
2k$
They're not that unattainable lol
I know
but I have nowhere to put one
plus I'm going to have a harder time finding one in the spec I want
AWD with manual
but other than that, yea they are el cheapo
idk how hard manual swapping an auto one would be, but I guess I could do that
nice car man
ok buddy

oh lord

@drifting sentinel smh where is the green stripe?

I haven't got Nicky V to customize it yet
k
Birmingham Cars & Coffee added a new photo — at Birmingham Cars & Coffee.
SEAT at a local cars and coffee.
Yikes
Major ew
How did they get that there
but look at it
the only car i like on this pic
is that corvette
yes id drive the porsche, the cls, the wrx
but
i dont like them
boomer cars
corvette noises intensify
what happened to the car in the front?
It looks like bumble bee landed on top of it and replaced some parts with itself
damn thats sexi
Damn that's ugly
imo if you need a team of mechanics to drive over a speed bump, something is very wrong with you road car
pshhh someone is jealous they don't have to replace their oil pan often.
Lol
Chances are it's on bags.
it has to be
If that guy drove it from Mexico to Birmingham at that height, damn
Best part. The SEAT and VW likely share a platform.
VAG
yep.
I am a hipster with a slow ass VW on bags.
I didn't want the bags but I got the car from my brother
I hate it
Yeahhhhh
Nice coilover setup is great
Bags aren't that bad and it does ride smooth. No problems other than my compressor failing.
Still dumb
It's also not static because the rear wheels don't have stupid camber.
well I mean you can just tell by looking at it also, but yea camber is crazy on super low static cards
I like the gray with accents tho.
That part looks nice
The wheels are decent
Just too low for my tastes
man when it comes to cars it is subjective. I don't hate on people for wanting whatever they want with whatever colors.
o I'm not trying to hate
No I know
I'm trying, but I can't. Man's got good taste imo.
Best part. The SEAT and VW likely share a platform.
@dense shard
That's a Mk7 Golf underneath, yes
You can get the Golf in 4 flavors:
- VW Golf
- Seat Leon: cheaper (less expensive) + better handling
- Skoda Octavia: cheaper (less expensive) + bigger
- Audi A3: even more expensive + pReMiUm
Octavia is probably my fav one of that
I hate golfs
I dont really like, but definitely dont hate the A3 (its just a bit stubby idk?)
and the leon idk
i just prefer the octavia
it drives pretty well and i dont hate the styling
So there’s a 1989 Ford ranger at a local auction what should I be ready to pay
We’ve bought cars from them before they’ve all been good and I know someone who works there so I’m gonna ask him about the condition
formula REEEEEEEEEEEE
is that your house in the back?
hehe
very nice
I don't think I have a photo of my shit box
lmao nah that’s my brother’s chicken coop, this was over at his place
This truck was his for a bit too lol, originally my dad’s
Brother has a 250 and 350 now cuz he does a shit ton of towing, often off-road too
haha
haha
big rumble V8
F
l'il bud has had a 60 year run
why is that so?
I'd take a turbo R or Arnage
I just need the money
hell
I'd take a prowler
over a fit
I'd take severe diarrhea over a fit
why is that so?
Because a Honda Fit doesn't require 15k in maintenance every year
Oof VW
Oh god no
That Fox is one of the shittiest cars ever made
yep
The Lupo before it was better
The Prowler was a miserable turd with styling that didn't have the performance to match.
Why the Fit hate?
The Prowler was a miserable turd with styling that didn't have the performance to match.
@dense shard 258 hp is decent
innit?
I'd buy a Fit if I was like 85 y/o
It was a V6 with an autotragic.
@devout atlas becuz Fit is fun as fuck
It was meant to be a hot rod, a sportser. It was neither.
I rode alone in a stick Fit with my dad and it was hella entertaining. Tiny car actually fits me too and I love hatchbacks, so double epic
Bentley would never stretch its legs and just be maintenance and insurance out the fucking ass trying to keep it
And it wasn't a Mercedes engine in the Prowler.
That + I dislike how most Bentley’s look whereas the newer Fits in grey are 👌
It was the Chyrsler SOHC V6.
It was never used in a Mercedes product.
bruh
you
why are you going on about mercedes?
"shared with the C300"
oh my god
Mercedes produced the C300... unless you are talking about the Chrysler 300C?
And the V6 in that was a turd. Until the pentastar came out... the V6 options in all of Chrysler's products were bargain bin penalties.
I mean the best motors ever made where 6cyl
just not V's
inlines ftw
Let me show you my race car I sold a few months ago
she was a boat! but had like 480hp :-0
Oof nice
480 out an engine displacing what... 3 liters?
Just slap some Turbo's on it
Me and my brother swapped it
it was a 1st gen gs300
put a 2jzgte from an aristo in it
Oof
ayyy my V6 is a turd too
I don
t have pics anymore but I took a hemi 5.7 litre v8 and but it on a go cart chassis
long story short
I needed a 12 by 12 conversion to hold the thing lol
and I had to stretch it liek crazy
so it was more of a hot rod than a go cart
That person does realize how much the first Tesla Rosdster was delayed right? Lol
While I may be waiting for a new Mazda rotary that may never come, at least Mazda did make rotaries at one point in the past
and there is hope for Mazda opening up the Miata parts program to RX-7s
996 Porsche?
Yeah
The oof generation. The Generation that's now not that undesirable. lol
I don't think it looks great but not bc of the headlights
Ah yes, that’s sick
Was looking to purchase one not 2 long back, but decided to hold back
They’re a bit pricey
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhAw86UDhHM This might be one of the best saves in rallying. Guy ends up finishing the race missing what seems like a tire.
okay wrong video.
You can watch the full vÃdeo in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxDz0Z066NI
Here.
speaking of Vatanen, just a small reminder in case anyone haven't heard about it (ik it's not very likely): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEuZG37gFdM
The award-winning Climb Dance film, created by Jean Louis Mourey, captures Ari Vatanen's 1988 record-breaking run at the 1988 Pikes Peak Hill Climb Event, Colorado, in his Peugeot 405 T16.
Peugeot announced they would be returning to Pikes Peak for 2013, with the new Peugeot ...
I got a sick car to show
F
"selling ma f40, slightly used"
"First owner, old lady only drove it to church. Never driven hard. No tyre kickers, I know what I have."
ran when parked
🤔
(yea it's in fr but just look at the pics)
rotary x6
Rotary > all
Only reason to own an M6... not there.
We review the new 2021 Toyota Supra 4 and 6 Cylinder turbo to find out if extra power is better. The joint venture with BMW combines M Car feel and Toyota Exterior Design character. We discuss the updated engines and technical info. The Supra compares with cars like the Cam...
Engine updates include new head for the I6.
And introduction of a 4 banger.
Wait. They actually gave it a new head?
yeah.
Integrated water jacket or whatever. Basically exhaust ports on the car are now separate instead of not.
Video explains it.
Did the 2021 changes do anything about the bump steer, or whatever it was called.
Haven't heard anything about bump steer.
Only complaints are the same that apply to all modern cars. A bit too refined. No feel and the such.
Join in as I talk about what bump steer is and how it’s made an amazing car nearly unusable for serious track use!
the supra is outright a bad car
the wind buffeting is ridiculous, that should NEVER have made it to production
that's the kind of stuff that i thought we had resolved in the 90s
90s didn't have AC standard.
Buffeting is a bit of a weird issue, but likely an outcome of modern aerodynamics.
have you seen the videos with the windows down? It's awful
no other cars have that kind of buffeting that I've heard of
I have the same issue in my Corolla.
That bad?
Rear windows creates a wicked pressure.
Front windows no, but I can't drive with the rear windows down. lol
If a title askes a question, chances are the answer is no.
About the video I linked. The bump steer issue is why they didn't put the car into their rental fleet.
Car was too unpredictable, and would have ended up in a wall by a customer.
Suspension quirks hardly make a car bad.
Older BMWs tended to snap oversteer.
Same with Porsche.
Is it rwd or awd?
What, the Supra?
RWD
fat rip
thats why they dont want to rent it tho
you can't drive rwd cars in the rain or snow, and they're difficult to control
If you know what you are doing, it shouldn't be an issue.
They have a bunch of RWD cars for rent, though...
Rental agencies have to plan for the lowest common denominator though.
So they'll go for the safer option 10 times out of ten.
Chances are they likely wouldn't have carried BMWs from the 80s and 90s.
Or Porsches.
5/7 of the cars are RWD.
Also you can have so much fun in FWD.
The FWD cars they have is the Polo GTI and Seat Cupra 300
I would love to own that 218i that they have in their fleet.
I want to drive a G70 to see if it's a good aspirational dream car but I have no clue how I can get my hands on they keys to take it for a drive 🙃
Just steal Edzel's.
lol
no dealer is gonna let me testdrive it, and none are available to borrow/rent
lol
Why wouldn't a dealer let you test drive it???
Lots of dealers here require you to commit to buy the car prior to allowing you to see/sit in/test drive it
it's ridiculous
Lots of dealers (same ones ironically) also don't let you pay cash for the car/get independent financing. They'll refuse to sell you the car.
Because they can't make money on the financing
My parents ran into that when they were looking at Explorers
That just sounds like hell.
there was one they liked but the dealer flat refused to sell it to them unless they financed at an absurd rate through the dealer ship
so obviously that didn't happen
lol
Man. I really want that Apex 218i.
Shop for cars out of state.
It's setup just how I would want from a 2 series.
Never had issues with getting a test drive in the Southeast.
repaired this scratch yesterday
Gonna go to a cars and coffee place and take pictures tomorrow anyone interested of me taking some pictures :) ?
I'll be using my Google pixel 3 camera unfortunately my real camera has a broken lens because of my younger sister grr
$760 for that lens
I like Brooklyn's
Get me some Brooklyn SV-1 pics pls
Or Briklyn
I don't remember
Oh those weird 70s kit cars that look faster than they actually are
P sure that pretty much every car is faster lmao
woah there
Bricklin SV-1s are NOT kit cars thank you very much, they're Made In Canada engineering marvels
sv stands for safety vehicle, they pioneered a lot of modern safety tech
I will not have anyone calling these iconic pieces of Canadian manufacturing "kit cars"
I've seen a few around here, there were apparently only 1700 known survivors as of 2012
Safety tech such as?
the bumpers basically have shock absorbers behind them
All 70s American cars had those.
It was mandated.
This is a man famous for a Canadian Corvette, bringing Subaru to the US, and Yugo.
Two failed, one has become a cultural mainstay. As far as business attempts go, this dude done well.
Hell... I'll give him Bricklin. 2/3 is good.
"The car didn't include a cigarette lighter or ashtray, as Bricklin viewed smoking while driving as unsafe."
This man has thought farther ahead than Ford did. lol
Fords still have lighters I think, so that’s a thing
we're talking 70s
Cause integrated rollcages never really became a thing.
70s or not. Volvo and Mercedes had deformable crash structures by then.
I mean new cars are designed to protect the driver in case of a rollover, so they kind of have integrated roll cages
passenger compartment stiff, everything else soft
Cars have cigarette lighters because you plug 12v stuff into them
Not for lighting cigarettes
They were originally intended for cigarette lighters
I still have an original cigarette lighter in my car, I don't smoke but I think it's neat to have to fill the hole
When I was a kid I got burned once in a 1987 Toyota pickup
One of those lighter things
@calm canyon damn that's nice
Thanks she's a beast you can't describe how bit it is
I want to put a pinto on 30 inch wheals pump the suspension
Should I just look into getting one of those android displays things for my E46?
So that I can have bluetooth and all of that crap.
I just don't like that they would take up both the radio, and AC controls.
So I would have to move down the AC stuff below the head unit.
If you really want a touch screen then yes but I would get a regular head unit that has all that stuff
@split pine I'd just get a bluetooth module over a different headunit.
It's either a decently integrated screen, or a bluetooth module.
That's a massive engine
triumph tr3
Nice
I have decided to try and get a Porsche 914 project before the prices get much higher
they're just so cool
not sure what to power it with, not gonna do a V8 for many reasons
Couldn't remove the damn wheel of my cousin's car.
Damn 'mechanists'.
The kind that changes tires and over-torque the shit out of everything.
you need a breaker bar
Yeh
I have a 30" long 1/2'" drive bar for changing wheels and removing other tight bolts
really useful
Jumping on the tire iron wouldn't do.
the wrench that comes in spare tire kits is basically useless even if the wheel is torqued properly
stuff seizes over time
Yeah. But the power tool wasn't enough either.
914 is a flat four. Pretty sure. @carmine summit
Naturally that means one thing. EJ25 swap brah
C1 or what ?
C1, yep
The Plastic Fantastic.
I think that's a render, but close enough.
Doesn't look too bad. just hate the lower headlights
@dense shard yeah we put a VW 1.9l turbo diesel in my dad's 914, I'm kinda thinking of going with a Subaru 6
Beautiful upper light units and the lower ones are fucking shit
@dense shard yeah we put a VW 1.9l turbo diesel in my dad's 914, I'm kinda thinking of going with a Subaru 6
@carmine summit
E270 engine maybe
E270 is an 2.7L i5 turbo diesel
might be unique idk?
yes but the 2.7L i5 isn't huge either
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/298220700076998656/721228554821566544/Screenshot_20200612-220308_Instagram.jpg Also new Nissan Rogue.
Doesn't look to bad actually
It looks like a Nissan.
Well I don't hate how modern Nissan's look
Which is good. Cause the newest Nissan's styling is the strongest point.
Hopefully JATCO kept up with the styling and made their shit even better.

Apparently they've made progress since 2015.
But no reason to stop now. 250k or bust.
👀
It looks like random basic SUV like you see everywhere and that are 0% exciting
f*ck people

Nothing wrong with a basic crossover.
As long as Nissan provides a good value that's comfortable and good on gas. We're set.
good on gas lol
since this is probably mostly sold in th US, does it really matter?
Some people still care. My family's Rogue hit 35 on a road trip.
Which is pretty damn good as far as crossovers go.

And pretty impressive as far as most cars go.
Apparently the Qashqai (Rogue Sport) is still the 28th best selling car in 🇳🇱... 1 never see them tho
35 what?
35 mpg
MPG US*
I need to convert that weird mpg thing
~7L/100km
1:14.88
almost
Imagine using L/100km
What you don't ?
Gallons per 100 miles could work.
No, Km/l
But I'm used to mpg.
we use L/100Km ðŸ˜
Mpg or km/l makes more sense tbh
It's not very useful in the US. 100km/miles is a fairly tiny metric.
Miles per gallon works in a country that spans a continent.
L/100km is too confusing imho xD
We can do x miles per gallon, and we have a 30 gallon gas tank.
eeverything is confusing when you don't use it
km/l works as well imo.
But you're French
Japan did it.
What did Japan?
km/l for fuel economy.
Good
At least that's how my car calculated it.
I wonder what brought that along.
Common sense
lol
so the rogue is the qashqai?
Yeah X-Trail is basically the larger Qashqai
why do they have to give them different names
Do you see Americans knowing how to write/pronounce Qashqai? xD
It's an unknown name.
Easier to market a smaller Rogue than it is something totally new.
It's not the name. It's the name recognition.
Also the previous generation Qashqai was not the previous gen Rogue Sport (same with the Rogue/X-Trail)
After all. VW sells the Tiguan, and whatever other stupid names they use.
Tiguan
The Toureg. Best part was we had an ad campaign making fun of people trying to say it.
Since then the Atlas has replaced the Toureg entirely.
But the Atlas is waaay less refined than the Touareg
America doesn't know.
Tiguan V12 TDi
👀
TDIs aren't banned, just VW has issues federalizing new diesels.
kek
I mean in the US they bought em all back
anyways watch the video I posted above
2.0 diesel: BANNED!
6.6 Duramax V8 diesel: sure ok no problem gg
The 6.6 is on the smaller side.
here they took recent TDi and removed some HPs lol
7.3L Powerstroke
Idk what the Duramax sizes are
And last I checked. GM hasn't had issues with meeting regulations.
mmmmmmm
VW has.
6L powerstroke sounds amazing tho ngl
Powerstroke is no Duramax xD
Europeans seem unable to meet US diesel emissions regs.
FCA, Mercedes, AND VW have all been dinged by the US government.
US is funny

so laws are stupid xD
US: unable to import safe and tested EU/JDM car
Also US: you built a car in a shed? Sure no problem, have fun
And more to the point. The Europeans lied about their testing.
Why would I buy a car from someone who lied? What else did they lie about?
it's just that other manufactureres didn't get busted for the moment lol
Others did.
laws in the US are straight up braindead
uh
oh we have
US def has the most dumb
I think
I'm sure EU has some
US is def on a whole new spectrum
We have a lot but US is the winner
How is enforcement of emissions regulations, dumb?
Remember Germany also slapped VW, but left their V8 products alone.
German and American reactions to dieselgate were near identical.
We have a great solution for emission regulations: just tax every gram of CO2 emission, and add a bonus to diesels
So I'm honestly not following your logic here.
European VW's had remaps
Here we go. US requirements for diesel emissions are more stringent for NOx than Europe is.
How does a 7.3L V8 meet those regulations then? Or does that not comply to trucks?
a country that use trucks for everyday car and drives V8 to go to the supermarket clearnly doesn't give a fk about emissions
Sports car, funny cars, collections cars: yes, we need this. But using huge cars with big engines for everything is non sense
It's either a non-issue for trucks or larger trucks have more emissions wiggle room to work with.
You'd be surprised how clean a modern V8 is.
Cleaner than a 4cyl that would do the job as well? I don't think so
Bit of an apples to oranges, no?
wut
What large truck will have a 4 cylinder.
ah
And fact remains. That a modern V8 is going to be dramatically cleaner than a 4 cylinder from 20 years ago.
Of course sometimes you need stroke, or just a big truck to carry stuff but not always
eh not sure about that
The sheer amount of tech a V8 has today is astounding.
xD
A lot of larger engines also have cylinder deactivation.
the least techy V8 in a modern car that comes to mind is the GSF V8
Technically speaking. Removing emission in a truck in the US today is illegal.
Naturally aspirated 5L no deactivation of anything
Technically speaking. Removing emission in a truck in the US today is illegal.
How does one remove emissions?
drive with engine off
Take out the cats, filters, particle traps, and urea injectors.
Boom. Emission controls removed.
That... Does not remove emissions
emissions = shorthand for emission controls/hardware/whatever.
Thonk
That's how I've always heard of it referred to in the US.
^
meanwhile, you build a truck with diesel V8 and just puts a straight pipe as an exhaust, NP you can drive along go on
100% legal
no
That's actually a federal crime. Fucking with the emissions controls is a no go.
EPA has been historically bad at actually enforcing this law, but fucking with the emissiosn is a no no.
Except they don't really check for it, do they?
Some states will enforce it.
So like basicaly all custom cars are not legal?
But on this it's the same in europe, if you change your exhaust, it's usually to make some noise so it becomes illegal but cops usually don't bother too much (but I don't know how these cars can pass the control that we have to do every 2 years)
Some of the EPA regs are fairly poorly written. And there has been talk about the EPA requiring track only cars also meet emissions regulations.
but in FR there are not much custom cars (compared even to the UK)
Also the galaxy brain answer is people keep the stock exhaust and emissions in a shed.
And replace it with a stock exhaust every time they need to pass MOT.
yes just like here probably
or seats?
I know Japan doesn't really allow modifications to car seats.
or anything because here you can't change anything without going illegal
well in theory
because otherwise even changing the wheels is not possible
Then why do many Japanese import cars have a different drivers seat fitted?
I never understood that lol
If they're imports, they're no longer subject to Japanese laws.
California bans stock exhausts on a lot of cars kek
Could also be those seats were factory options. I imagine that's fine.
A fiat 500 abarth violates the law
lol
Sure, but I meant cars which were just imported and not yet registered here
Only 1 seats different as a factory option?
The G70 I want sounds like shit but that's okay
Nah, as in someone bought just one seat and traded it in.
good on gas lol
since this is probably mostly sold in th US, does it really matter?
@warm sparrow
Y'know... America has over 300 million people here. Some of us do care about the price of gas.
do people really care about gas mileage
A lot of us do.
Here, yes
mhm
Amusingly the Corolla hybrid seems to be selling quite well.
I'm dutch and I see other people care about such things too
but I never really cared mucb
E500 does like 12-14L/100km
190E 2.3 does less
I don't know how much
I just
And I mean, it's all about the gov, in europe (it's different in all coutries but,) if gas and "big cars" were cheaper, it would probably be like the US
Once again. Travelling cross country kinda requires a larger car.
Yeah
Travelling at a 100km/h in a tin can is not a fun experience.
Here you go: considering your car I asume you live pretty comfortably so you don't really have to care about this
plus that V12 is pretty economical at high speeds
Here you go: considering your car I asume you live pretty comfortably so you don't really have to care about this
@warm sparrow
not my car
I drive a classic car, I prefer driving myself
fuck teslas
ah
no name?
Personnaly if I could, since I love cars I would have a daily that doesn't drink too much, just a basic car for everyday, and a car for fun to use on week end for example (because I care about gas price AND emissions)
no name?
@dense shard?
Have you not named your car yet?
Have you not named your car yet?
Does calling it by its model name count? xD
BP 👀
big p*
Almost reminds me of Japan. lol
They also had the random service areas in the middle of nowhere.
That's just besides the freeway/highway
this flat country
yes, this country is flatter than I am

I don't like flat places
Limburg isn't flat 👀
zeeland
Hmm
the bigboiboat
Do you think its diesel engines meet US regulations? 🤔
Yes
It's probably bigger than a V12 TDi
Some do.
😂
But the Europeans have issues meeting NOx emissions.
RAM also got slapped pretty hard on cheating. Mind you their fix was a software update... one that ruined power and fuel economy.
Basically every European diesel now had AdBlue
VW didn't in the US.
"oh we're special, we can do it without"
And yeah... nah. They couldn't.
Now they do
Do you think its diesel engines meet US regulations? 🤔
@warm sparrow
I don't trust them.
Also marine diesels have no regluations.
Neither in Europe, nor in the US.
They burn crude oil, no filtration of the exhaust.
I don't trust them.
Neither do I, so I let my sister in law get one as a test subject

The cruise ship industry alone produces more pollution than all of Europe's cars.
Adding in shipping lines? oof
@median egret no sh!t lol
The cruise ship industry alone produces more pollution than all of Europe's cars.
@dense shard but imagine having to move all that cargo over land
I am.
And the fact that cruise ships are giving a continent's worth of cars a run for their money should say something.
In the US semi trucks are regulated. Quite heavily.
And newer trucks on the road are relatively speaking, much better on gas than before.
4 mpg to 8 mpg.
Still, they dont beat boats in time, costs etc
100% increase.
I truck can travel at 70 miles an hour. A boat can do it at what... 20?
Also in the US rail reigns supreme.
the running costs of a boat are high, but imagine having to service 24000 trucks
I'm also imaging the fact boats are kinda limited to where they can travel.
Trucks are required for the final delivery.
Boat to train to truck.
Yeah but 24k trucks driving from China to Europe
Boats in this case are cheaper.
Not sure about faster. But if you want speed you go for air travel.
Bye guys I need to go get the pizza
More environmentally friendly? dunno
I know trains are pretty much peak efficiency.
new boats are also quite efficient tho
trains yes
but 24k carriages
to replace a singular boat
boats this big have an important use case
I'm not arguing against boats.
you cant replace them with trucks
I'm aware of that.
Fact remains. Cruise ships are hellacious polluters. Emissions regulations on the high seas are non-existent.
Laws can be made.
It's not the first time international agreements have been reached.
You can do that cleanly.
I've given up plastic straws, paid extra for emissions on my new car. I think the shipping industry can step up.
nature will try to preserve itself. its just that we should end the rainforests being cut down
but brazil noob president is on a, what he calls, mission from god to cut everything down
Nature has a limited capacity to preserve itself.
Corona might be here for overpopulation
Nature has a limited capacity to preserve itself.
@dense shard if you cut down the trees yeah
haha
Pollution remains an issue of industry and corporate greed. Not consumers and their plastic straws.
Not cutting down a forest isn't going far enough.
And honestly... Bolosarno is on the verge of being overthrown, no?
I've heard of rumblings in Brazil. People are really really really really really x12 unhappy.
lol
yeah i can imagine haha
I really wish Toyota had sold the 2.0L hybrid Corolla in the US.
ah
In wagon form.
(i could buy one and export it for ya)
I mean... we might be getting the wagon soon.
sweet
Well... it's the lifted wagon version.
It's a 2 inch lift, and that's it.
i prefer lifted wagons over suvs
I could swap in the wagon suspension, and have a wagon again.
If it happens, sure.
or make it into a wagon yourself
buy VW polo, make it longer,
wagon done
haha
i dont like volkswagen but the squarish stuff makes it easy
We don't get the Polo in the US.
no
oh no its up!
Golf is the smallest.
And I don't trust VW anyway.
neither
They have a bad rep in the US.
supra good other bad
lol
Yes
I could swap in the wagon suspension, and have a wagon again.
@dense shard still has body cladding
2000 or 1998
Are there actually noticable differences?
Model year starts at 2000, so probably 2000
Body cladding isn't too bad. I imagine I could remove it easily enough.
Probably leaves some nasty holes and clips
I doubt the body has that many holes. And in this case idea would be to change over the off-road bits for standard wagon bits.
Yes
who buys a silver ferarri is the real question here
People with originality.
Only red for Ferrari is a bit gauche. Green or silver is a nice choice.
the yellow doe
or the dark green
or the dark blue
or the baby blue
Baby blue berlinetta with dark grey accents/wheels etc
is golf spec
im not saying id have a ferrari in red
im just saying silver is a little conservative for a supercar
Oof
That's gonna be a pain on the highway.
That roof is amazing
914s are more amazing
I want one so badly
find one that needs work but is fairly solid, make it clean, add GT flares, paint Mexico Blue
We’re both Porsche people too (both the corvette owners and us)
What about this?
Yes
What about this?
@civic spoke I used these for my vacations in Poland
nice
@dense portal

Oo this channel
I can do what I want @devout atlas
I can pick up s14s etc for cheap as
like buying a titan
I do like that one, it carries the nihon feeling imo
Unsure what i feel about gold rims tho 🤔
people here hype over random pc parts
no one cares when rdm posts a watch from his collection
