and then it just left a weird film behind that makes the door windows foggy and the windshield is impossible to see through when the sun shines directly through it (sunrise or sunset)
Should maybe wipe it off with paper towels if you can before spraying more stuff on
maybe
almost want to take isopropyl alcohol and disinfectant wipes to it before using glass cleaner
or even dish soap
when I first got the car, the windshield was absolutely filthy and still remained pretty dirty
You also have a grandpa mobile
wot
I have sports boi
do you u have a fc?
FB
lol
he's talking to me lmao
sorry
np
this is the same pic as my pfp
Ppl are always like hey how's the rotary when I mention my RX and I'm like oh....not that RX. Lolol.
lol
(Lexus RX not Mazda rx)
should probs just call it the Lexus instead to avoid confusion
yea i was thinking about it
π
A redline a day keeps the carbon away
a lil bit of dust but it feels new lol
Friend of mine used to have an FB with a 13b he autocrossed, had Hoosiers on it and it was stupid fast
He sold it, he now dailies a beat Civic and is building a Civic to autocross
i cant wait to get a car lol
I can't wait to get a carpet
and a license
Like I legitimately cannot wait very long because I have to get my interior back together before this weekend
Because it's autocross time
once I get a house I can repaint the FB
and I'll be able to start obtaining all the other cars/projects I want
I might be able to do a 5 lug swap pretty cheaply on my car, I started a summer job at a VW only wrecking yard today and saw a literal pile of the spindles and hubs I'd need for the front
Saw a couple of rear beams with the spindles and discs I'd need too
Mazda gang
I wish I could park in a garage lmao
but alas, that was just so I could jumpstart my friend's Miata π
and funnily enough, that's not the only car I've jumped with the FB π
what should i be looking for in a first car? preferably ~$5000
i want something a little bit sporty but my mom doesnβt trust me
Get something that is a front wheel drive sedan
Civic, Corolla, Camry, etc etc
If you can find one with a manual transmission, that should fulfill your "sporty" desires while allowing your mom to feel fine knowing its just a regular car
You can find any generic car with manual or auto for under $5k if you get an older one and/or one with high miles
ford taurus sho
those are hard to find, especially cheap
2011 SHO is like 7k at this point
The ecobeast sho is great
It's also a big car that guzzles gas.
21mpg is pretty decent
If you want something fast get a SHO :)
rangers are pretty fun too
365hp and it feels every bit of it
I would not define a Ranger as "fun"
Fun is where you make it.
you have to get the v6
Unless you are towing, I'd say get the 4 cylinder.
the i4 is pathetic
Especially for the newer trucks.
I won't be getting a v6 Ranger, because the engine is gonna come out anyways
They make a bit less horsepower than the 3.0 V6.
you can bolt a 5.0 out of a foxbody right on the 5spd manual from the i4, doesnt mean itll last though
Or you can leave the Mazda 2.3, and enjoy life.
that's nothing close to my plan
We know.
sparta might not
But I'm talking recommendations for a first car.
East here wants to rotary swap an old ranger for reference.
yea, I would still say any generic sedan with manual would be what he's looking for first car wise
A sho is a solid, safe midsize sedan w/ lots of easily manageable power. Great car.
Toyota or Honda...
the idea is B2600 because FC trans, bell housing swap and a rotary will bolt straight in (minus having to make custom engine mounts)
No turbos or AWD. Those add cost and weight down the line.
If you want something you can wrench on to learn about cars... Japanese is the way to go.
I'd never pay for a car with a weak sauce 100hp 4cyl. That's just unusable.
Or the 2nd gen Ford Focus. It's like a generic knock off Mazda 3.
They weigh about 2000 pounds.
implying that 4cyl are all unusable yet drives a gutless V6
The 2000s Civics are surprisingly sprightly.
The Corolla tho is kinda gutless... but it'll be gutless till the landmasses merge again.
75hp is just fine
60 was fine.
Yeah no, 200 minimum
π
If you have a crossover with a 4 speed auto maybe.
But to be totally honest. I was fine in my 135 hp Accord.
Then again it only weighed about 3000 pounds.
we're talking first car man, I doubt he'll be able to find anything with 200+ hp for under $5k that isn't going to be the opposite of fun
I mean... NA Miata?
his mom might nix that because sports car tho
NA Miata has crazy insurance doesn't it?
Does it?
insurance is cheap on old car
It is a 2 door sports car.
It might not be kind to a 16 year old.
But companies offer discounts for good grades and good parent scores.
well, the insurance for the driver is the killer part
My car is 2700$ every 6 months to insure and it's a safe slow crossover
the car itself is actually going to be hella cheap to insure
A Miata would be worse
I'm paying 600 for comprehensive.
And you're what, 25?
I bet I could insure a Miata for under $80 a month
Moi?
Yeah
I'm middle aged.
Mines liability only
wiat really
25 is but a distant memory.
2700$/6mo
I thought you were like 24 and living at home π
Lol
Add six, but I am living at home.
ooof
My hairline begs to differ.
All jokes aside.
You need to find a new policy, Falcon.
I agree
Get your parents to shop around.
I don't think my family paid that much... mind you we always had cheaper cars.
The only time slow cars become dangerous is in the presence of other people who cannot drive. And saying anything is unusable means that you have a closed mindset.
even cars with 75hp can reach 100mph with the right gearing
and do it without feeling gutless or unbelievably slow
My car has bad gearing
If I lay into it on the highway it's decent but only because it's running at 3100rpm at 70mph
It's technically not bad gearing
I'm turning 2500 RPM at 70.
It's not enough gears
there you go
My top gear is still over 1:1
isn't it a 4 speed?
yea, that's the problem
I have 2 overdrives.
the RX-7 has overdrive
an actual overdrive gear is more like 0.8:1
Ik
depending on the car
overdrive... Ford marketed the Ranger as a 4 plus overdrive... I'm not sure why.
Apparently Americans have issues counting past 4.
Lemme double check one sec
My top gear is... .39:1
Final drive is 3.94
final drive meaning diff?
yea, I think so
If not... uhhhh I should have changed the diff fluid in my previous cars.
yea, I think in FWD the diff is baked into the trans because there's no space
and it runs off the same ATF the rest of the trans does
ofc in AWD and RWD you get into having transfercases and separate diffs that take their own fluids
right
First is 3.938:1
Final drive is approx 3:1 on mine
so yea, final drive is the diff ratio
Your first gear sounds like it tops out at like 15. lol
RX-7 has a final drive of 3.909
Is 3:1 final drive bad?
that's hella long for final drive tbh
It's pretty long
Lexus botched the trans in this car tbh.
Stupid engineers
should have at least been a 5 speed
I agree
all older autos should be 5 speed at minimum
but no
older autos were 4 speed
and the manuals were 5 speed
and that's why you should always get an older car in manual
because the autos have dogshit for fuel economy
imagine getting an FB RX-7 in auto
3 speed auto
mmm yes, I like getting 10mpg
My car has dogshit fuel economy regardless
nah, I bet it would be over 20 with a proper trans
you'd be getting close to 30 with proper gearing then
Nah I doubt it
The aero leaves a lot to be desired
And it's a heavy car
3700lbs iirc
you'd be surprised
So yea, the Prius engine makes 76hp and 82 tork
and that's probably at the crank
and the car weighs 3k lbs
with just the gas engine alone I bet it could do 32mpg
ofc, the 2nd gen Prius is one of the most aerodynamic production cars of all time
If I put on aftermarket mirrors it would.help a lot
The current ones are decidedly not aero
oh, I also just found out the Prius runs 185/65R15s
Square walls that block the air lol
what about a late 90s-early 2000s lexus as a first car?
Mine runs 235/70R16 iirc
what about a late 90s-early 2000s lexus as a first car?
@sour ermine yea, that'd be fine. If you can get one in manual, you can can have great fun. But even if its an auto, it'll be a nice and reliable daily driver
The RX 350 is pretty damn quick and reliable, not a lot of fun tho
The one I drive sometimes is an '07. Surprisingly fast.
Can you find a decent mileage one for under 5k?
Maybe
I doubt it
My grandpa's RX is valued at 6200 with only 56k miles on it
I wouldn't get an early 2000s Accord with an automatic.
Under 100k.
100k or less
good mileage is 100k miles or less
decent mileage is under 200k miles
and what are the best sites to look on?
FB marketplace.
I think Autotempest searches all the sites
always buy private seller
dealers like to hike up prices and rip you off
FB Marketplace is def good, you can find good stuff on there
ah alright
with private sellers, you can haggle more
Can be like, "the paint is shitty, $200 off?"
or "I only have $3k rn, take it and I'll drive the car home"
ofc, what you can actually say/do depends on the car
sometimes asking price is a steal and you just need to get it asap
You have bargaining room with private sellers usually.
If your mom is willing to go for a new car. Hertz is selling their fleet.
You can get a new Corolla sedan for 15k.
depends on how that works
Huge discount.
You could get a pretty nice RX for under 5k if that's what you wanted, despite it not being sporty, however avoid the first gen cars. I have one, its nice, but the 2nd gen is markedly better for not a lot more money
And the 2020 Corolla has a lot of safety features... everything short of blind spot monitoring.
my uncle will probably help me out some, he's a mechanic by trade and also runs a shop out of his own garage
now that you pointed it out to me, it kinda triggers me that you say "RX" on something that's not rotary lmao
Oh... if you are going for DIY... go for a Toyota.
or Honda.... get either in manual, and you'll have that car for decades.
I mean the lexus RX is much more common and well known :P
if your uncle is a mechanic, have him go with you to look over the car
I mean the lexus RX is much more common and well known :P
but is it really?
common sure
My friend got a really nice Acura TL Type S 3.2 for 2900$
but well known? idk on that one
It's got a lot of miles but it's in brand new condition
And plenty of power
Surprisingly good.
iirc it uses the 5 speed
5spd ftw
It's a shockingly good car
Like the only aesthetic flaw I noted was a small scuff on the bottom of the front bumper
Interior is virtually flawless
While the HS250h is a good car, I think its really stupid
A toyota hybrid that gets 15mpg less than the Prius
like bruh
but that's what happens when you add 1L of displacement π
Get a CT200h instead of a Prius
It's a nicer interior and better looking with similar price and efficiency
The CT200h still gets worse fuel economy
By a small bit
I also wouldn't say its better looking
its not uglier than the Prius, but its not better looking
interior isn't going to be that much better either
nah, I think they both look pretty good
ofc, the mk4 Prius looks better post-facelift
Same year, different platforms.
CT was New MX or something. Current Prius is TNGA-C.
If you could get a Lexus CT, that would be swell.
my dad is really against me getting a nissan for some reason
They should have made a CT hot hatch
is there a valid reason for that?
Bc theyre crap
Yes
The CVT is awful
Nissans aren't known for quality.
Nissan have been trash since the early 2000s
The motors have issues, and interior quality is poor
They've gotten better recently.
Buy a Toyota or Honda. Don't buy a Nissan.
the manual ones are probs ok, but don't get a CVT one for sure
And maybe soon they'll be good enough again.
I doubt it
The new sedans are quite nice.
wot
But that's like... the new new sedans.
im looking on hertz and all i see are nissan versas
Avoid Nissans
You do realize Nissan has updated their sedans... right?
The versa interior is dreadful
I've driven a 2018 Altima and it was dog shit, in every way
A new Altima was introduced in 2019.
none of the new Nissans even look good
It's worth the higher price for a Lexus/Toyota/Acura/Honda
And also the previous generation was quite comfortable.
what about an elantra
meh
just looking at pics of the 2020 Altima and it looks so bad
They're okay
2015 elantra se for $7000?
what about an elantra
@sour ermine what year?
How does the new Altima look bad?
It's a perfectly average car.
Looks better than the Accord.
oh, 2015? yea go for it
Modern Hyundai are excellent cars
the 2000s ones are trash reliability wise
If you don't mind steering deader than a Nixon.
The new Hyundais are good cars
They're fine cars, but dynamically dead I hear.
I think the 2020 Accord looks better than the Altima. Though the Accord is really bland
How many miles does the Elantra have on it?
The Accord is actively offensive to me styling wise.
the Altima is just straight ugly to me
Altima is a generic 3 box sedan that hasn't redefined anything.
@indigo coral 75k
Honda tried something, and it came out looking like a Camaro on the front, nothing on the back.
75k ain't too bad for a commuter car like that
that nose is horrifyingly bad to me
I'll take it over the Accord.
Also the Alitma and Accord interiors are almost identical now.
its the as the 2016 iirc
Front is missing the bumper.
slight facelift
It has LED headlights now... which are worse.
Front is missing the bumper.
@dense shard what?
wow
It's just a black void.
They have that unpainted piece of black plastic.
And that weird radar cut out at the bottom.
I don't think its unpainted
Don't tell me... it's shiny glossy black?
I don't mind the accord
it probably is
A perfect color/texture for the front of a car.
Looks kind of outdated tho
I mean, I have driven a 2016 Accord Touring, they're nice
yea, the 2020 is just a facelift of the 2016s iirc
it def looks outdated, but its not ugly
the honda will have better materials
I'd take the Honda interior any day
Camry still has that screen inside the dash as opposed to on top.
I wouldn't.
I remember Honda interiors from recently, and they were cheap hard plastic.
I'd just get a used G70
Camry still has that screen inside the dash as opposed to on top.
@dense shard Good. the iPad glued to the dash thing bothers me
The 2019 Civic didn't impress me on interior quality.
I haven't been in a modern gen Civic
And both Honda and Nissan use the worst fake wood ever... and then use it in large amounts.
It's like they told a man who has never seen a tree to design wood trim... and didn't even give the man any picture references.
I mean, tbh
if I was going to go and buy a brand new generic sedan
It'd be a Mazda 3
Do it right, or don't do it at all.
if I was gonna get a generic sedan it would be a G70 or a Giulia
The Mazda 3 is not very comfortable... and not very fun.

if I was gonna get a generic sedan it would be a G70 or a Giulia
@indigo coral because those are definitely generic
the giulia isn't soi much but the G70 is just a hyundai
Mazda went up market, and gave the car a twist beam suspension and a carry over entine.
and the Giulia will break on the way home from the dealer π
Assuming they fix it at the dealer lot.
It's not actually as bad as car journalists lead you to believe
I've heard good things from people who actually own it
Car and Driver had their car in the shop for like... half their stay.
it's not an indestructible corolla but it's not as bad as car- yeah them - had
I haven't heard good things about it
And a year later, after they traded it in, it was still on sale.
And it's not like they wrecked it... like the Focus ST.
Or had it stolen... like the Audi A7.
I think the early production ones were a mess
the later ones seem to be fairly tolerable
especially if yu avoid the carbon ceramics
A Mirage is tolerable.
I mean in terms of reliability
For 15k I can tolerate things.
For 75k I expect perfection.
Especially during the warranty period.
They're not.
I think they ironed out alot of the reliability issues throughout the production run, could be wrong
Β―_(γ)_/Β―
I've not researched it That deeply
I haven't driven the previous generation, but the new 3 drives heavy.
I've heard the Mazda 3 was good. Decently comfortable and pretty fun
Like there's a fat kid in the back.
Seats were too narrow for my wide ass... but your experiences may vary.
I've not been in a mazda recently
Β―_(γ)_/Β―
The interior is kinda dark, but holy shit is it nice.
i sat in a g70 and a stinger side by side and the g70 interior was a LOT better
Everything I've heard... the new 3 is a step back from the previous generation.
regardless of what doug demuro says
The suspension shit they claimed? Sorry but a twist beam axle IS worse.
"but we can full ass tune a twist beam and only half ass tune an IRS."
Toyota, Honda, and Nissan now say hi.
Nissan... the king of cost cutting now has independent rear suspension in Sentra.
wtf is twist beam
π€
It's budget suspension found in base model Jettas and Hyundais.
I mean, solid axle is not shit by any stretch of the imagination
It's inferior to independent.
inferior but not shit
True.
And Mazda went for an inferior design.
it body rolls bad
that's called soft suspension, falcon
It didn't feel as good as the Civic or the Corolla in the twisties.
the 07 RX has soft suspension too but has much more managed body roll
and if you think your SUV body rolls bad, you haven't been in an 80s Crown Victoria
There wasn't a new Sentra out at the time.
And it didn't matter... no manual in the Sentra anymore.
Anyway... biggest sin was the new Mazda 3 was a 25k car being sold at 30k.
Oh and the rear sightlines were bad... like criminally bad.
The manual only comes in the range topper.
ah
28k, and they didn't want to talk lower at all.
makes sense tbh
Offer manual in all the trims.
problem is, no one will buy manual in lower trims
Mazda 3 isn't 5k better than the Corolla or the Civic.
I doubt anyone is buying the top nacho trim.
The previous 3 could be had for 23k with change.
That was the top trim.
also, based upon my research, twist beam doesn't seem that bad
its better than solid axle in pretty much every way
It's also inferior to an IRS setup in all the relevant ways.
ofc
but you also know that the cheapo IRS most cars have is actually really fucking shitty, right?
Too bad the new 3 weighs more.
Cheapo IRS in what car?
It wasn't shit in the Corolla or Civic.
That leaves Hyundai and Nissan.
Mazda is talking shit in a very small field right now.
All the basic sedans probs have that stupid trailing arm IRS that sucks
like, it feels better than non-IRS
but it sucks
My Prius has that kind of IRS and it sucks
the Prius handles well, but the rear feels dead
Mazda supposedly did it because there was no trade off compared to IRS.
I call bullshit.
I believe them on that. trailing arm would have been just as "bad"
A lot of reviewers have said the new 3 handles worse than before.
Mazda also claimed it will save weight.
New 3 is a porker.
the appeal of trailing arm is that it weighs nothing
and its cheap
so you can reduce weight, save money, and get to brag about IRS
Also more interior space.
You don't have a piece of metal going across the width of the car.
depends on bodystyle
Wait... the Mazda 3 only weighs 20 pounds more than my Corolla.
How did they make it feel like 3500 pounds?!
softer, duller feeling suspension?
It's no faster.
Oh, yeah the interior was nice... till you looked behind the front seats. lol
Can't be worse than the Fusion
Mazda gave soft touch plastics to the rear passengers... because there was nothing else to see back there. Dark, claustrophobic, and no seriously... the rear sightlines were tragic..
The Camaro is bad... the Mazda 3 is no better.
Worse in fact. It has more windows.
The Camaro back seat isn't supposed to be good tho
You NEED BSM and a back up camera to drive that car safely.
The Mazda 3 seat doesn't impress.
It's bigger than a Corolla HB... but I imagine MK's car has more leg room in the back.
Β―_(γ)_/Β―
Both cars fall far far short of the Civic hatchback.
Difference is you can afford a Civic and Corolla.
At Mazda 3 prices... why not just get a Mazda 6?
Or an Accord... or Camry
The last two get the same fuel economy... if not better.
If I wasn't in the market for a hybrid, I'd probably look at both the 3 and the 6
oh yea, they are massive
25k for an Accord... or 25k for a Mazda 3?
Equivalent fuel economy, but you trade luxury for size.
I mean
The biggest issue I have with the Accord is its size
the 2016 I drove felt way too big
The Mazda 3 is pushing into territories that verge on German.
Okay but I will say this.
The interior fit and finish was stellar, and the shifter was superb.
Honda should take notes. lol
The shifter was direct, short, and actually pretty high up.
Shame about the seats tho.
imo all car makers need to take notes from the history books
Don't invade Russia in the winter?
The accord is on the smaller end of midsize no?
excluding the Miata, what 2 door sports coupe feels like a first gen RX-7 anymore
none
I think the Accord is on the larger end.
^
If I was going to buy an Accord, I'd buy an 80s one with the popups
but then if I was buying a Honda, I'd get an AWS Prelude
I'm looking forward to the next gen Accord and Civic.
Hopefully they take after the Fit.
Something more cutesy.
I've never really liked the Fit
The Fit is Go!
well, I'm probs gonna get off
I need to go check my turnip prices.
how are we all doing
freands dads car
worst colur scheme on the planet
gold wheels, and orange paint with a black bonnet and dark brown leather
look how the ruined mi' boy
car makes nize sounds though
ugly as hell in my opinion
Might be smaller than the Passat?
@dense shard
No, the Accord is just a touch larger (literally 0.3 inch)
Yeah, and the USDM Passat is one of the bigger cars.
VW made an American car for Americans.
Yeah I know
For other's benefit?
Interior to the European Passat tho
Euro Passat looks better in every way imo
US has the VR6 tho iirc, which is nice
Or is the 2nd gen 2.0 TSI only?
Ah the 2020 NMS Passat is 2.0 TSI only apparently
VW is never brilliant compared to the competition
Imagine not being able to get the Passat with a 1.4 TSI with 122hp, or a 1.6 diesel with 110hp
Golf stands up.
Even for that there are better option, even with VAG itself (Seat Leon for example is the same car but cheaper + better handling + better looking)
True
But the 1.4T is blah compared to the Civic 1.5T.
And then there's Hyundai and Toyota.
Shame.
1.4 is the old one
go figure
Idk, VW's are always waaaay to expensive and I can't understand why
Is the most bland car you can get, which apparently lots of people like since the sell well
Except even I've had VW owners rant about the reliability of their car.... And they go out and buy a new one experiencing the same issues

And both Seat and Skoda have actually better offerings for basically all VW cars
Golf? Cheaper Octavia has more space, Leon is more fun. Passat? Superb is bigger. Same for all the CUVs xD

no u
Exactly
Come race your corsa with my RX once its fixed

for now I'm just doing front rotors, pads and calipers
will do reasrs soon
rears*
Nice
Front does 90%* of the braking anyways
* could be a different number, but the majority anyway
yeah
im not replacing the rear calipers
but i was going to replace the rear rotors and pads
will get around to that soon
4 wheel discs on mine
Mine will probably still stop faster
brakes are useless

engine braking
ofc yours would stop faster
Won't stop as fast as brakes
It's way newer and way lighter
Faster than mine
k0rolla go 0-60 n3v3r
Kaas π§
very spiid
OOF The new Lexus IS won't come to Europe
π
Can't properly fit in a Miata so
s2k
I am trying to think about first car and idk if I should go with a Miata NA or a S2k.
But I think all imported
Apparently not, there have been some sold via official channels
ik
Of course I remember xD
you can actually get a green label bmw arnage with high miles
π
but, you 14k, you can get a 2015 mustang
And spend al least that again in maintenance
the year when they actually got modrn suspension
XD
And spend al least that again in maintenance
@stoic ledge nah, 5k max
XD
you can get a v6 easily
and almost a v8
Get a Taurus SHO and pretend to be a cop
@stoic ledge nah m8, charger
hey
you can get a Lincoln continental
the new one
classic land yacht (but a bit too sporty)
yep
yep
but
it's a lincoln
and it's only 2 years old
what could possibly go wrong?
Speedi boi
Wish cars were that cheap here
I don't live in the US
doe
I'm just recommending card to the UMMMMMMMMMMMM guy
BOi
I see a 2010 Dodge challenger for 11,400
80k miles doe
s2ks are overpriced
not worth 21k for a 2008 model
:/
that's the issue with hype cars
Yeah
would you pay 21k for a 12 year old honda?
Lmao
a little more would get you a new miata
an arnage red label with 41k miles is a much better deal for 21k
21k can also get you a brand new base VW Polo 1.0 MPI Comfortline
Ah, 21k USD probably, then you even can't get that
xD
But no, although I like the S2k, 21k is too much
exactly
I'd honestly just pick up a lincoln conti
if I lived in NA
it's a beautiful yacht for mere pennies
But not a 130k miles one
yeah
if I had 50k, I'd get a 2006 arnage T
:p
If i had 25k, I'd get a spotless Bentley Turbo R
but
I have .05k
so
I'll get severe depression
Classic
yes
i bet clarkson will buy my depression for 20
sell it for 10
only for it to reach 40
the next day
ye
BRuh
25k is too much for a old honda
you can get a lincoln conti
or a dodge challenger
ora cts-v
*or a
or a post 2015 mustang
Problem is the Continental isn't something I want. It's a Ford in make up. A Dodge Challenger is a barge, and I doubt I could get a manual SRT-8 model for under 25k.
Maybe a CTS-V.
Problem is none of these cars handle as well as the S2K, and none of them have an engine as magical.
Or I can get something that won't cost me an arm and a leg to keep running.
A S2000 is fun. An Arnage is not. I would like something either fun or utilitarian as my second car/truck.
@dense shard did you see Toyota is going to sell the 3 doors Yaris GR with a regular 1.5 CVT powertrain in Japan and call it the GR Yaris? It looks just luke the hot hatch, only with no power xD
Cleaning the car instead of doing my laundry

A S2000 is fun. An Arnage is not. I would like something either fun or utilitarian as my second car/truck.
@dense shard stop right there, buckaroo
Get an Arnage, slam it, put some spooly boiis on it and convert it to a pickup
That's fun + utilitarian
Or just get a Ute xD
I can't even imagine an alternate universe in which I would ever consider buying an Arnage
Why would I stop anywhere? Why would I get an Arnage?
because leather
I can get a Lexus LS and actually enjoy driving my luxury car.
And it will last me a million miles.
don't you like land yachts?
no
well
I enjoy smaller cars.
personal preference is something
There's a reason I bought a Toyota Corolla HB.
I personally love land yachts
If I was going to get a land yacht, I'd get a good one
an 80s Crown Victoria
If I had 25 grand.
the most comfortable car I've ever been in
I'd get a 60s Lincoln or Cadillac.
not a grand marquis?
that's literally the same thing lmao
it sounds more yacht-like
Most comfortable car... Lincoln Towncar tied with a Saab 9-5 I think.
You haven't body rolled an 80s Crown Vic so hard the door sills almost scrape on the ground then
bruh
and I actually do prefer the Vic over the Grand Marquis
It was from an era where Bentleys were just rebadged Rolls Royce.
And that era of Rolls Royce wasn't exactly memorable.
it was memorable
how
Same amount of leather tbh.
looks are subjective
leather sucks
Give me cloth and velour instead
public transport here is dope
I've never been in a car with leather interior that I was jealous of
always been like "if this didn't have leather it would be much better"
Yeah. Leather isn't the feature I care about.
our old Toyota Sienna, the biggest problem with it was the leather
Tho to be fair my car's seats are softex, not leather.
the Lexus? best leather interior I've seen, but I'd still rather have cloth
I'd take leather over cloth every time
I don't really think about it.
The XSE head leather seats with cloth inserts, and I thought it looked cool and felt good.
I didn't think, "gee, if only the materials used were different"
when its not my car I can afford to think about it
cause its not my problem π
The RX-7 has vinyl with velour inserts. Not a fan of the vinyl, but the velour is nice.
Vinyl seats are a crime
Yeah, but leather is a pain in the ass to take care off.
And too hot in summer
Not an issue with white seats.
Yes, but one ought not think about such trivialities when your butler can make a most excellent car out of the heap
If you are buying a 25k Bentley, you don't have a Butler.
And you will be taking care of dried out cracked leather seats.
Using products you bought from autozone.
if I was spending $60k, it'd be on a classic rotary
and it would likely not be the car that costs $60k
ooohhhhh, or that.
but the restoration process
If I was spending $60k... I'd get a Volvo probably
60k... you can get a barn find RX-7.
RX-7?
maybe
I already have the best one
Except it needs a new paint job?
The only other rotaries I really want are an RX-4 sedan and the OG Cosmo
paint is ezpz
an FD
Well not an FD.
a $60k FB is so overpriced it'd be fucking insane
If I'm buying an FB for $60k; it better be zero miles, 100% original, basically fresh off the factory floor, new car smell and all
you can get clean and original FBs in great shape for under $10k
mine is a good example of that
sure the paint is fucked, but 80s Mazda paint was pretty shitty all around
there aren't many first gen RX-7s with good original paint
or engines π
My FB has a good original engine wdym
not driven hard obv π
you should see how I drive it
I wouldn't mind an FC RX-7.
as long as the engine is running fine, it doesn't really matter
And she's not even a year old.
