https://www.autotrader.ca/a/pontiac/grand am/dorval/quebec/19_11486180_?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=10_14_0&sprx=-1 I am damn near tempted to buy this
71k KM
It's got a bunch of things that could be repaired but eh, it's a good project car ๐
but yeah we brought it from jersey when we moved here in 2011
that's why i said miles
ah fair enough
Yeah
A lot can go bad like rust can just eat thru the cables and stuff
ask me how I know that
- ABS Failure on all 4 wheels
- Airbag light for all airbag modules
- ECM Failure
- BCM Failure
- AC failure
tfw your car has none of those
Well, I do have an ECM/ECU of sorts.. but it's not exactly high tech
oof
I don't have any ABS or airbags because it was designed before they were even mandatory
yo how bout a civic with itbs
itbs?
Yeahh, ABS is useful, but I can live without it
I have no clue what ITBS stands for.
Neither do I
independent throttle bodies
oh
one for each cylinder
The D16/17 didn't come with those.
Oh you mean Vtec?
Dunno about the B-series, but I doubt that was a feature.
no
yeah i don't think it was but people have put them on their cars and they sound excellent
Oh is it different from vtec?
I've never come across ITB before
https://youtu.be/gGJPxiiPgd8 listen to this
I have had a lot of people ask me how the engine sounds inside the cabin, under normal driving it is pretty civil. It becomes much louder when you go wide open and high revs. The sound a 4age makes is raw, hearing it everyday is very satisfying. Enjoy!
you can really hear the induction noise
That you can.
i mean imagine a b16 civic with that on without nothing else on it
it would sound so good
I guess?
they're probs easy to put on the car too
I wish I could get my BX to make a bit more noise but it is still only a 1.6L carburetted inline 4..
although good idea is some filters so they won't succ up some small animals or dirt
More noise is always nice, tho in my case I wish I had a bit more exhaust noise.
ooh itbs on a volkswagen vr6
It had 92hp when new
I don't know how many horses have left the field now though..
another vehicle i want is a volkswagen or audi with a vr6
as my first vehicle
and change the exhaust so the only thing holding noise back is a high flow cat into a straight pipe with no mufflers or resonators and just straight 4 inch piping
The new Corollas are apparently pretty quiet regardless.
but a vr6 with nothing holding it back except for a high flow cat
that'd sound awesome
basically open header with a cat
@dense shard good yes?
Honestly not a fan of unmuffled exhaust.
ah
A lot of V6s and I4s sound obnoxious without any mufflers.
not the vw vr6
VR6 is a narrow angle V6 that shares a head.
yes
oh wait, misread
I've had 3 cars now
I had an 03 VW Polo, then an 04 Ford Fiesta, then a 91 Citroรซn BX
the Polo was a decent little car, until someone crashed into the back of me. The Fiesta lasted me a couple of years and was a great little runaround. The BX is by far my favourite though. Wonderful car to drive and it gets looks from so many people
Anyway. Haven't heard many if any VR6s.
[Open Description]
Figured I would go for a drive, love how she sounds.
g r o w l
I don't wanna be a downer. lol
It sounds alright tbh, but still not quite my cup of tea.
gotcha
But it sounds better than all the other straight piped Civics.
mm hmm
So you get this win, Emet.
I don't need to make noise for people to stare at my car as it goes past ๐
Yeah, I get that
I do like the noise
Also it doesn't help that the new Corolla's exhaust setup is kinda stupid.
to me its the best sounding 6 cylinder that's mainstream out there
the engine that trumps it is the 4 litre porsche flat 6
that's it.
the thing with the porsche it sounds so smooth and so pure as it revs out to 9k rpm
and the vr6 is just pure g r o w l
I like noise on cars that deserve it
Like, it's just shit when you hear a load of noise and it's just some slammed 1L 1998 Renault Clio going past that has a huge exhaust
I just found out that my mom drives without tcs...
UX... platform sibling to my Corolla... that means the platform is EV capable.
Too bad the range isn't great imho
๐ค
I'd rather see the range start with a 2.
And I'm not talking about 20 miles. lol

Idk European WLTP says 300km which is 186 miles iirc
NEDC is saying 248 miles.
Which isn't exceptionally great for a net range of 52kWh
> NEDC, that's waaaay to inaccurate
The automaker initially said the UX 300e would be able to travel up to 250 miles on a single charge of its 54.3 kWh. However, that was calculated according to the old NEDC test cycle, which has since been replaced by WLTP, and under the new standards, the range is expected to drop to around to 186 miles.
You see ๐
Well... 186 isn't tragic.
And WLTP is usually above EPA even
Well it uses CHAdeMO, so that's just ๐ฉ
Honestly I like the EPA test cycles the most since it's the most accurate.
Yeah same
Also CHAdeMO is a deal breaker.
I agree
America has gone for CCS.
Europe too
so I've heard... apparently some charging stations don't even offer CHAdeMO anymore.
I think most don't actually, only fast chargers along freeways here
Well... whatever. Good move for Lexus/Toyota. They can keep working on BEV development.
That means nearly any new Toybota can be a EV
Corolla, Yaris, Yaris Cross, CH-R, UX... all share the same platform
TGNA or whatever
TNGA
Same ๐
Apparently China has a CH-R EV
It's selling pretty well outside of the US.
I assume it's the exact same drivetrain as a UX
It's not doing too shabby here in ๐ณ๐ฑ , they've done worse before ๐
It seems to be the exact same drivetrain as the UX.
The numbers are the same at least.
Ofcourse
Tbh I expect them putting it in everything
๐
It's the cheapest solution
PSA is doing the same, butting the same drivetrain in at least 4 different models iirc
Yeah
That's the beauty of modular architectures
Still weird the CH-R isn't available as AWD in the US.
I bet it would be far more popular then.
Japan only probably?
My car needs some work atm, need to do front calipers, then pads and rotors all around. Also need to replace the exhaust flange gasket after the flex pipe,
Lol
It's brokennnnnnnn
ah, Everyone but the US gets AWD. lol
@indigo coral still not fixed?
It needs work... it's a 20 year old car... but it beats the engine falling out.
And lol I don't think we have the AWD
Well I say Europe as in all of Europe.
So maybe Netherlands don't get it, but say... Poland does.
Yeah I get it
But still, lemme check
๐ณ๐ฑ is mostly flat so not really necessary
2WD Hybrid only
1.8 or 2.0
Germany 2WD ony too
Poland has a 4x4 version of the 1.2 Turbo with a CVT
119 900 zlotty
That's like 29k USD
nieลบle
I kinda like the PSA PHEVs.... also available with 300hp 4WD ๐
Or 225hp FWD, which is still plenty for 99% of the cases
Actually, upgrading from the 1.6 Turbo (180hp) to the PHEV (225hp) is "only" 2.4k, which for an electric motor, a 13.2kWh battery etc isn't that expensive
Didn't you order it already?
no

My alternator is throwing 18 volts at my car...
Back to 14 now

@lethal garnet wow bet its super fast
mostly driven by women tho ;/
kinda girly
lmao
oH sHIT ๐คฃ
What else you want to do to it?
idk tell me does it luk good now
I think so ๐

hmmmm
@dense shard it's the Toyota Yaris Mazda 2
We review the new 2020 Toyota Yaris Sedan. One of the most affordable cars in the segment. While we may not have a Mazda2 in the USA, we test the good and bad. Not everyone has a ton of money to blow on a car so this is a great option. What would you choose? Honda Civic, Kia...
Forgot this was a thing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OXsEXtxQb0 Then there's this.'
Journalists say the 6-speed Corolla is a hot-hatch, but we say the valves show the truth.

Toyota Corolla is the converse of the automotive world.
You can make it look pretty, but you aren't gonna be running marathons.
idk dx corolla is still the most beatiful car i know
That one had been very badly modified ๐ฎ
I love the E210 era 'rollas.
Also: not called Auris overseas anymore, it's wrong ๐
Yeah he gets more than a few things wrong.
It's the car formerly known as the Auris.
I do want a short shifter on that car tho.
Buy it

But yes the previous 2 gens of "Corolla" were called Auris here
1st gen Auris wasn't in the US tho iirc
2nd gen Auris was the Scion iM or something, later Corolla iM?
Yes, iM
Yeah, first gen Auris wasn't in the US
Of the E210?
Could be
I remember Toyota changing the nameplate from Corolla to Auris since "Corolla has an old man, boring name to it".... only to change it back since "Everybody knows the Corolla"
Pretty much.
The best way to make people stop thinking your products are for old boring people is to make the car interesting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo1bwBt77sM I need to watch more of this.
Today on the car channel I help Phil do his front brakes (that means I watched and didnโt help) and I show how I fixed some paint issues in my fenders.

Mean looking versions of corporate platforms were Pontiac's specialty at one point. This Grand Prix Turbo is certainly proof of that. It's not too late GM! BRING PONTIAC BACK
the grand prix turbo
hoovie had one and it went stu tu tu
ok why don't modern cars do this
with midsize cars like that
112ft is quite impressive actually
Fernando Alonso: GP2 Engine....GP2. ARGH!!
GP2 ENGINE
@dense shard ah yes one of the best alonso memes

i personally don't like how Toyota did the new supra
It was that or spend hundreds of millions on a one off car with a one off engine.
The 2020 update of the Supra is pretty great to top. More power, more car.
The New Kia Rio Hybrid Has a 'Clutch-by-Wire' Setup for Its Manual Transmission
does that mean it could prevent stalling or somethin?
i dont see the inherent benefit of having an electronic clucth
There are none from what I've seen.
It reads like marketing speech.
They're pretending that a manual car with a stop/start system is special and high tech.
Ignoring the fact they removed a bunch of features from the manual Rio anyway.
Still funny to read.
Ok so it's just a mild-hybrid system ๐ค
is it true that alot of computer enthusiasts are car enthusiasts too? ๐
Kinda
My baby
Nice
Everyone says I donโt own it

My baby
@crisp cedar You into photography?
Yip @tall cairn
Check your dm
Sometimes my exhaust sketches me out while driving
I thought my driveshaft was going out or something but I think the noises and rattles are actually just weird harmonics made by the exhaust heatshields when the leaks blow exhaust gases on them specific rpms and engine loads in specific gears
Welcome to loose heatshieldville.
I know its old but have you heard about andy palmer being replaced as Aston CEO?
agreed.. although they are also losing a ceo who was committed to manuals
porsche wont be losing manuals i think
before
after
replaced the high beam while i wait for the proper bulb
huge difference in person
more mods coming really soon :)
A commitment to manuals is a commitment to a niche market that basically doesn't exist.
It's basically a delusion. Aim for profits, then cater to a niche.
Manuals generally last longer, don't they?
You can really get a lot of life out of a clutch if you're kind to it.
At this point, modern automatics are essentially just as durable/reliable.
yeah but way more b0ring
Spotted a Bugatti Veyron and heard it I didn't expect it to be here in Virginia because how on Earth do you get the right fuel without getting a check engine light.
Anyway I never heard a W16 engine before it sounded way different then on YouTube videos about them
Boring or not. The vast majority of people prefer automatics.
i only see people prefering manual here
(majority) people usually get cars as status symbols or to use simply as A->B so autos are for the masses
but tbh if that is the case there is no reason for A->B cars to be ICE just make them electric and have fun with your sports cars being ICE with larger displacements
Here is not a good indicator of the market.
ICE for now remains cheaper.
If I remember right. EVs in the US were more popular in 2019 than manuals.
Audi made the last manual transmission R8 in 2015 rip
Manual for life
dream first car for 4500
in my area too
might have to cop ๐
its an sti and the owner prolly doesnt recognize that
or its broken
350+hp monster
tf
What @misty jungle
Used to be my old car
nice
Yep, I've bought it a couple of months ago. This is the 2.0 engine, not the terrible 1.6 PSA engine
It's just a lower tuned D3
exactly

We're looking at a V60 D6 PHEV for my brother. That, or depending on how much he needs to invest, a V40 D2 + chip like you xD
Oof that looks nice
Clean
Those wheels are so 90's
xD
Bwah the first year like 2013 is less reliable, late 2014-2015 it's fine tbh
It only eats tires xD
Yep and the airco pumps fail a lot
the newest Volvos are gonna be a reliability nightmare in a few years
Just because it's now owned by Geely falcon? xD
The supercharged, turbocharged, 2L 4cyl, plug in hybrid, with the fancy anti turbo lag system
just based on complexity
Shits gonna break
Idk D6 has a lot to offer and is very well priced
No not due to geely
but due to the complexity indeed
De V40 is also very well priced
idrc who owns them, but it's pretty much unavoidable that super complex cars have stuff go wrong
I've bought mine with 6 months warranty for 12.000 euros
I'd still get the complex PHEV shizzle tbh, since it's basically just as expensive as the 150hp less non-PHEV version
it was over 40.000 euros new 4 years ago
If my RX has big problems as it ages, it's gonna be a nightmare on new luxury cars as they age
My RX is relatively simple.compared to new stuff
Naturally aspirated etc
Yeah for D6 we're looking at 16-17k, or +- 12k for a V40 D2
Really depends on how much money is left after they moved xD
fair enough haha
The space is the V40 is also fine for me and my girlfriend but it's not really impressive
stupid bot
AH I'm back
gg
Apparently posting a few $$'s is mute
Again
The only thing is, my brother has a E91 318i BMW, and he's afraid it's a downgrade in the way it drives (since RWD vs FWD)

The Acura brand has been on quite the up and down journey over the years. In the 90's, they...
It's prob a good car but it's not gonna drive like a Guilia
For the best.
Wot
If it's supposed to compete with Guilia/M3/C63/RS3/model 3 performance it needs to drive well
Also I doubt the 2.0T Guilia is that excellent.
Also rumors are pointing to a larger car. So S4 sized.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52HgsMW0BbM If Acura tried in the slightest. It'll probably be pretty damn competent.
The all-new 2021 Acura TLX is Acuraโs quickest, best-handling and most well-appointed sedan in the brandโs 35-year history. With a model-exclusive body structure and chassis architecture, all turbo engine lineup, and an athletic stance with bold proportions, the new TLX delive...
This is exactly what Acura needed.
Then again we'll see if the Type S is M3 performance. If so it'll be an M3 killer at under 80k.
Anyway. From what I've heard the Guilia Quadrawhateverolio isn't the most refined driving experience.
You can tell it's an American developed product because there wasn't a single mention of seasons.
I thought I read somewhere it was FWD and optional/higher specs SH-AWD or something like that
S4 is Giulia size btw
Giulia is also a very well driving car
Trust me
I'm sure it is.
But I've also heard it's not the smoothest ride, nor is it that brilliant inside.
And no matter the performance, it IS an FCA product at the beginning, middle, and end of the day.
No clue why tbh.
And as far as I know, it's quite a reliable car
Car and Driver had their car in the shop more often than not.
Fiat's reputation in America remains, "Fix It Again, Tony"
The 500 was meh, the 500L and 500X were both astoundingly not good cars.
Odd that the Jeep Renegade is considered better, but still a Fiat at the end of the day.
500 seems to be quite reliable over here
500X is just too cramped inside
500L is just plain ugly
I've heard nothing positive about the 500 in the US beyond, "it's cheap"
And mostly sold with a 0.9 TwinAir here which is horrible for such car
Ah but the US has the Mexican built 500, no?
It's undersized and outdated.
2010-2019 (Mexico)```
Apparently yes
If there is cost cutting, it wasn't really noticed.
Like... horrifically oudated.
Nissan and Ford are in awe on how old the 500 is.
3rd gen Ka is actually waaaaay worse, nobody bought it
3rd gen was originally developed for Latin America etc
Price difference between the Ka Plus and the Fiesta was so small, everybody just went for a Fiesta
Ah it's not even for sale here anymore lol
Ford Ka was always an afterthought it feels.
Oeh the Explorer 3.0 V6 EcoBoost 336kW/457pk PHEV is also available now in Europe in ๐ณ๐ฑ "only" 80k EUR (ST-Line trim) which isn't even that bad for such a car lol
Ford Ka was always an afterthought it feels.
Bwah the first one was fun (although it rusted like hell)
https://media.autoweek.nl/m/msiytuub1ary_800.jpg
Quite a popular car
I'd rather have that than literally 95% of SUVs, crossovers, and sedans
That's just disgusting
https://youtu.be/U1rR6JiFk58 this was on recommend for me :o
A private project for Jordan, the new owner of this historic machine from HKS before it was shipped to him in America. Car driven by Max Orido on the private test day at Tsukuba circuit.
what do you guys think about the e class and 5 series refresh
i really do not see a different from the previous generation at all in terms of interior
If it is a refresh and not a redesign, they'll look more or less the same.
Acura revealed the quickest, best-handling and most well-appointed sedan in the brand's 35-year history โ the new 2021 Acura TLX.
With a model-exclusive body structure and chassis architecture, all turbo engine lineup, and an athletic stance with bold proportions, the new TLX ...
Already linked it above.
I stand by my Designed in America sentiment.
Looks good, has potential, and hopefully will save Acura.
I think that the first step that they made that saved the company was redesigning the RDX to make it faster and more aerodynamic
RDX and MDX may be prime movers, but they're hardly the soul of the company.
What I would like to see is a new RSX or Integra.
@modest forge E class looks great, but I'm waiting for the E63S Estate
5 series looks great to but interior is truly ew
I would wait for an M5 Touring, but sadly the E63S Estate won't have a competitor from BMW ever again
thE sEgmEnt Of fast pErfOrmAncE EstAtEs Is nOw fIllEd In bY SUVs
That's what what the motherfucker from BMW said
Come on and give us a M5 Touring, it's cool as fuck
first gen ka was mood
someone broke my brothers car window and didnโt take anything
who breaks into a prius
Did an alarm go off?
If not, they might come back to actual steal it ๐
Common tactic to smash a window, to see if it has an alarm, if not they'll come back for it after a couple of weeks

If not, they might come back to actual steal it ๐
@stoic ledge I seriously want to meet the thief who wants to steal a prius
from what I hear those batteries are good for electric swaps on older cars
Could very well be they'll come back a second time now they know it doesn't have an alarm
good thing is that my mechanic's lift opens up mondayt
so i can install the exhaust on the other car
I probably need a new battery later.

Watch it be based on the same platform as the 370z
I'm seeing that in the roofline tbh.
Okay then again that roofline is the Z-car calling card.
But lol, I see I'm not the only one thinking it'll be a 350z 370z update.
I've found rooflines to be the best indicator of platforms these days.
Not unlike the Accord and TLX.
ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
lol
Your Corolla and my Prius are on the same platform iirc
I thought you have a 3rd gen?
Nope
4th gen?
2nd gen
ah, then no, but kind of.
4th gen is on TNGA-C.
3rd gen I think shared a platform with the Auris.
huh... gen 2 did share a platform with the Corolla. crazy
Honestly... I probably should have gotten a Prius.
The gas mileage is worth it alone
People can shit on the Prius all they want, just proves they're too scared to admit it's the future and just want to reaffirm their beliefs in big American v8s
I finally have Prius engine bay pics
Corolla hybrid is new, and sedan only afaik
There's absolutely no reason to make a Corolla hatch hybrid either, at least the way I see things
In US it's sedan only
Other markets it's hatch and wagon (TS) as well
Both 1.8 and 2.0 Hyrbid
Previous gen Corolla Hatch (iM, Auris in Europe) was also a Hyrbid in both hatch and wagon
Generation before that as well (hatch only, no wagon at all)
The hatchback has a hybrid variant overseas.
I wish it was sold in the US. A 2.0 Hybrid would have been a nice choice imo.
Prius isn't a bad car but its dangerously slow
Did somebody say dangerously slow? ๐
that new z looks hot
10+ seconds to 60 is not safe
Why not?
im also gonna drop this and make yall suffer with me
down here where basically every road's speed limit is 55
its hard as hell to make a right turn on red
Yeah Mary Barra said there's a corvette suv coming
Also when you're doing 35 merging into a 60mph road when everyone else is doing 70, it's obnoxious af
Even I can do 70mph at the start of a merge lane
It's not that difficult
Just use the right pedal

Damned prius drivers get on at 35mph all the time
Yeah well that's because they don't dare to touch the gas
Having driven a car with 60...
Does have quite some e-torque
You just need to give yourself more go time. And people need to let people merge instead of suddenly becoming super invested in the right lane.
idk, the 07 RX is considered a slow car but its decently quick ... I shudder to think how unbearable a Prius would be
I agree with monte, merge speed is a driver issue not a car issue
Isn't it like 18 seconds in one of those?
My Cervo tried, but she was slow.
She got a good deal on it
Just got it 2 days ago, 2003 Acura TL Type-S. 199k miles, all the options. I looked at the pictures she sent me and it looks in excellent condition.
260hp ain't bad
260 is respectable today.
It's in shockingly good condition given the miles/age
Like I'm impressed af
Was 2900$ iirc
I did a test with my friend, I took my Volvo to 60 (13 seconds) and he drove flat out for 13 seconds and he went 120miles per hour
I short shift my car. I take it super easy.
I haven't pushed the Corsa over 170km/h, which is ~105mph
Not bad for 83hp
xD
I do think there was more there, but it was enough
mine still had some juice left but I don't want to get pulled over driving that fast ๐
My car craps out at 112mph
Which would be too damn fast for that car
Test it
i got my renoolt to go 140kmh on 4th gear
fuckin gravel rood
literally maximum attack here
Prius isn't a bad car but its dangerously slow
10+ seconds to 60 is not safe
@indigo coral It's only dangerous if you live in an area where an overwhelming majority (like, 9 out of 10 people) of people have never heard of traffic laws and do not give a single tiny fraction of a fuck about how their dangerous driving might affect other people. But at that point, literally any car becomes dangerously fast or slow.
In other words, its not dangerous at all. The problem lies within people and driving laws that don't give people a good enough reason to obey them.
I have never once felt that my Prius is too slow.
But I have been afraid of other people pulling the dumbest stunts ever and causing a horrible accident
There's a reason I obey traffic laws. Fear.
I can pay off tickets no problem, whatever. Its actually fairly difficult to get your license suspended (assuming you're not going full throttle everywhere and don't have a brain smoother than the average idiot)
But being killed, or being responsible for the death of others, that's not something I want to deal with
let alone medical bills, rising insurance, and having to worry about major car repairs or having to frantically search for a new car because its totalled
Here 2 tickets = end of your licence for 6 years
good
That's over aggressive imo
imo it should be one ticket, but that's just me
you're a fucking idiot if you think 5 over should lose you your licence
That's just dumb
5 over isn't really ticket worthy imo
more like 11+ over
there should always be a little wiggle room, especially if it was going to be that strict
people wouldn't speed as much if speed limits weren't arbitrary
In Europe they're calculated/based on engineering studies
In the US they're whatever the politicians think will get them elected
or Karen from soccer practice shrieking at a city council meeting
(happened here)
25mph on a rural dual lane each way road is f**king stupid
depends on how narrow the road is and what the surface is
It's a nice road
a gravel road, why the fuck would you go higher than 25
imo, these should all be insta license revocation
for the last one, imo it kind of depends. If it's based off negligence then yeah
Ohio points system is mega dumb imo, now that I look at it
if you get 12 points within 2 years, your license is suspended for 6 months
I think it should be 12 points within 4 years and suspension for at least a year
speeding points makes sense tho
people just don't learn
and this doesn't really help
driving with a suspended license should honestly be a criminal charge imo
That's surprisingly lenient for speeding
Cops here can issue reckless driving criminal charge for 1 over
๐ค
which is immediate revocation of your licence permanently/until the court approves you to get a new one iirc
that might be possible here too, I'm just on the DMV page rn
apparently its not illegal to use a cell phone while driving here
texting and driving is banned, but nothing else afaik
Wow
yea
I think it should ban use of a cell phone in its entirety while the vehicle is moving
like, changing songs or putting a phone call on speaker at a stop light or stop sign is fine; but holding it in your hand and/or using it while driving should be insta license suspension
A guy took California to court over cell phone usage in the car.
His argument is that it's safer and faster to pull up a map on your phone than to unfold a paper map... which is legal.
And yes he did the entire unfolding a map dance at his seat to prove a point... last I heard he won.
I mean... if you know how to use em, they're easy.
even if you know how to use them effectively, it does take longer to figure things out than a cell phone
true
and could potentially block your view
And maps don't have voice navigation.
Sometimes I wish I did, but then I think about it and realize I'd probably wish I didn't have it
I have a touch screen.
Might as well expect it. Beats working with the automotive interface. lol
I think touch screens are stupid in cars
same with janky menu nav things like the Lexus mouse
having screens is not bad at all tho, don't get me wrong
such as having a screen to display bluetooth music or show a map readout of navigation from your phone
but when you basically have a full ass device in there, you've gone too far
its a car, not an iPad with wheels
I like that distinction bc imo it shouldn't be illegal to check your phone at a stoplight
@civic girder
the absolute worst you can do a stoplight is annoy the person / people behind you
If you're not paying attention.
true, but it beats t-boning them for the same reason
That's what I mean, you can't hurt anyone really
And people have horns to let you know they're annoyed lol
I also notice that almost everyone is checking their phone at stop lights anyways, so if you're checking yours then they won't even notice lmao
Lol
I usually get a full Miata worth of space between me and the car behind me when I start at the front from a green light before they start moving
Oof
ofc I often times won't even glance at my phone or answer the phone at a stop light
obv never touching when moving
I don't usually look at it at the stop light
I am almost always just looking around and/or staring at the light
The only times I look at it when moving is bc navigating
Since I don't have a fancy infotainment
ive got am and fm
you know where we're going but I don't
or
I'm trying to drive, you're not doing shit
My infotainment isn't touch either
good
It's literally like just a screen
that's the way it should be in every car
meh, it doesn't do Bluetooth or nav or anything
Top row is time/temp/mpg, middle row is climate control, bottom row is radio stuff
you can get an fm transmitter for like 20 bucks
I've had no issues with my screen.
the worst thing about gen 2 Prius is the screen
its touch screen
and has separate menus for everything
I would do that in the RX-7, but the cig lighter doesn't work
I just use aux in the Prius cause its easier
One thing I do hate in my car.
voice control
It's like that one PS2 game... but worse.
voice control anything is shit
I refuse to use Siri/google assistant because that shit never does what I want it to
I also cringe when I see people use that shit
also why I unplugged my Amazon Echo
oh yeah it's worse in Toyota.
I've never ever seen someone use voice controls in a car
I see it all the time when just using their phone tho
always makes me cringe and laugh because they "OK GOOGLE" like 4 or 5 times
and I'm like, "it literally takes half a second when you do it manual"
I have an Echo auto in my car
Alexa is great
It's cringy when you do it on your phone tho
Alexa sucks, idk why you'd want it in your car
she goes off when I'm just sitting here in silence typing on my keyboard
and then goes off when I'm talking in discord
It had to stop, so I pulled the plug on her life support
Best "infotainment" screen, showing the time, the outside temp and the radio station/track name. That's all
For a 2012 car, it's less comprehensive than a 99 RX
I quite like our echos
Tho in fairness we use Amazon music, prime video, audible, etc
Found the frame and drivetrain for my explorer
nice exhoost
@wild tiger what are you doing here
These things are cool
yes
That screams small pp as much or more as a diesel truck spewing black smoke
You can't even drive the 6x6 with a normal license here in Europe.
I don't think you can get the 6x6 in the US ๐
interesting
You can't even drive the 6x6 with a normal license here in Europe.

Strange, this one is registered as a passenger car tho
Although it is too heavy to be a regular car
๐ค
Yeah. You need a truck license to drive it. @stoic ledge Either C1 or full-on C.
Yeah, that's why I'm confused it has a regular car plate
But it can't be anything different
Trucks have regular car plates...?
Uhm in ๐ณ๐ฑ , truck/commercial/... plates always start the letter section with a B or a V
Since the one above starts with an X, it's... not?
It's more or less identical to what I drove before.
I'm like 3.30 meters tall. So pretty low.
Basically.
CrisFix face
@sudden plaza Nice golf mk2!
Thanks! ๐
Did someone say MK2
MK2s are cool, I have a '92 Jetta
This picture is really old, it's been off the road for a couple years now because the timing belt failed and it bent valves
I'm planning to make it really nice within the next few years
ls swap
Rotary swap
I'd like a 1.8T swap
But this'll probably be a TDI swap if anything
Unless I find a good deal on a 1.8T which is fairly likely
You need a Corrado front engine mount to make a VR6 not front heavy in a MK2
2bt swap
I like turbos and 4 cylinders, VR6Ts aren't my thing
Install the chonk
My friend has a 24v GTI and it's stupid loud lol
Yeah 24v's do not sound good
put a cummins in it and call it the
12v's sound better
C U M W A G O N
They do sound good
Have you heard one straight piped
Its obnoxiously raspy
Fun times
It's fast and shoots flames
What are "valves," never heard of them
cue the valve shapped outline in a rotor
I'm gonna use OBS to screencap a video from my friend's instagram
Why not just link the insta video
because his instagram is set to private
Oh
Anyone here familiar with Dual Action polishers? Doing the Chicago Electrid/Harbor Freight Grease swap mod.
Found an old DA I got in 2012
https://www.custompcguide.net/10-steps-to-replacing-the-stock-grease-in-harbor-freight-da-polisher/
Stock grease is pretty stringy
I'd probs get bearing grease?
Trying to pull out the grease right now, itโs pretty stringy
Was planning on stopping by autozone and grabbing some of that moly grease in the other Guides I saw
Cousin of mine who works machining for the jets talks about how sometimes they get parts from China, use WD-40 as a solvent to get rid of the old grease
Wait they really used a Commodore Ute as Mule?
Oof I like it
I'd have that over the C8
any day
eyy, is that a commodore??? 2008?
thing looks mint mate. from whats in the picture anyways
shut up I'm caramelldancing
Okay I'm done caramelldancing
Anyone here know anything about car radios/stereos?
i know a bit
I am trying to get a new one for my car but I really don't know what to look for. What I mean by that is I have no clue on which is good and which isn't just by judging from the specs that are given.
@split pine
what car and what are you looking for specifically
One sec
The car is an old c3 ('04 I think). It has aftermarket speakers (don't know what speakers they are since I got it with them already applied). And I am looking at something around 100Eu.
I was looking at the Pioneer SPH-10BT @split pine

The flute makes it.
im notto great with euro carsbutit looks like a pretty good radio
All I want is something that won't leave my speakers go to waste. They might not be top tier but they are pretty good.
The current stereo has some pretty dope sound but it doesn't support AUX/USB or bluetooth
looks like this one has usb and Bluetooth
@split pine Yeah already checked that out.
Anyway thanks for your time man
Dude did a good job
This is for sale now
Ugly car, beautiful paint job and modifications
I pulled my explorer into beamng

no,this is patrick
with 9000 mudkips?
but a good one
Gonna clean my windows tomorrow.
I need to do that too
It's a pain with newer cars.
but I have zero motivation to do so since the tree my cars are parked under sheds pollen and just makes them dirty again
Oh I need to do it inside.
ah
the RX-7 needs the inside of the windows cleaned badly too
they have this weird film from the last time I cleaned them
I've found a couple of passes is needed.
Yea, the weird part is that I went over them like 3 times
I have no AC, so my car is always fast
I used glass cleaner, then ran out of glass cleaner so started using this vinegar mix my mom told me to use, and then went over it once with window wipes
I use regular Windex
Wouldn't be surprised if FCA did some extra cost cutting
