chilly shell
#

miss my miata NA too

#

basically any mazda with flip-up headlights = my kinda car

civic girder
#

imo, Miata has nothing on RX-7

chilly shell
#

yeah, but as a track day car, I could buy those little tires for nothing, hardly used them up all season, very well balanced, and I still kicked people's lap times with double the power as me

#

also, I'm tall, so top down, helmet on, unlimited visibility, it had a lot of nice parts

civic girder
#

yea, Mazda makes great little sports cars

#

Even though I am biased towards the rotary, I still acknowledge the Miata. I've driven NBs and NCs, and they are definitely good. I have yet to drive an NA, but I'm sure my buddy will let me drive his new NA once he's finished modding it

chilly shell
#

I had the 1.6 short nose though, and that engine surprisingly lasted 200,000 miles

#

but it went the way of every short nose 1.6

civic girder
#

oof

#

I'm expecting my RX-7 to go 150k miles before I need a rebuild

civic girder

chilly shell
#

I had just gotten my personal best lap the prior lap at high plains raceway xD

civic girder
#

the best laps are always the most destructive

chilly shell
#

the body lives on though, sold it to some guys who dropped a V6 in it

civic girder
#

I'm kinda afraid that if I tried to track my 7, the apex seals would have flown out the exhaust by the second corner

chilly shell
#

well that's the thing with the miata

#

90/91 aside with the 1.6 short nose.... basically all other miatas, either 1.6 long nose or 1.8...

#

you can whack them around forever and not worry about anything

#

change the oil, keep going

civic girder
#

That's why my buddy got into Miatas

#

he likes his Z06 'Vette, but its too big/powerful/expensive to hop in and say "SEND IT"

chilly shell
#

this summer I might buy another, though this one with an interior

#

the other nice thing with the miata is the sheer quantity of bolt-ons for track use

civic girder
#

yea

chilly shell
#

a roll bar for a vette is probably $800+ but you can get one for the miata like 300 that just bolts in

civic girder
#

My buddy got an NB shortly after I got my RX-7, and then he got an NA a few weeks ago. idk if he's keeping the NB or not, but he's already swapped coilovers on the NA

#

He also replaced the clutch on the NA. I think the NB had the clutch done right before he bought it

Outlander 🤔

Ah that's the ASX

The Outlander "Sport"

Nice title and thumbnails being wrong xD

dense shard

He likes it.

stoic ledge
#

Every reviewer in Europe dislikes it since it feels really old, and nobody buys one

#

23k base in the US is reasonably affordable

dense shard
#

It's old, but "everything provides positive feedback" and "it feels old, but it's well screwed together"

#

"It's old design, but that means everything is easy to repair and access"

#

And the engine/transmission is so old they've fixed all the issues. lol

stoic ledge
#

Well it starts at 31k here, while you can get the bigger and PHEV Outlander for 35k

dense shard

ouch

stoic ledge

dense shard

I don't hate or love anything about it, and I love that.

This guy is great though.

He loves old school CVTs.

stoic ledge
#

Aaargh CVT

dense shard
#

"It doesn't pretend to be a fake automatic, it's just a rubberband"

#

Honestly. I like the classic CVT stuff.

#

It's designed to be fuel efficient, and stay in the most efficient bit of the power band. It doesn't pretend.

stoic ledge
#

Not for how I drive xD That's continues 6000rpm xD

dense shard
#

oof

#

Fair enough, but for the average driver... myself for example.

#

I quite like CVTs for around town driving.

stoic ledge
#

CVTs are quite good technology, but really depends on your driving

#

It's a Dutch invention so it must be good GWsoraeDabmoji

civic spoke
#

The big meh part about CVT is that they still try to mimic a normal transmission.

dense shard
#

Not this Mitsubishi apparently.

#

lol yeah

stoic ledge
#

That's what a modern CVT would do

Mitsubishi uses a super old CVT ofc xD

dense shard
#

SavageGeese was actually kind to the Outlander... more so than the EcoSport.

#

That's an ouch.

stoic ledge
#

EcoSport is also not a good car

#

You can tell it was designed for "developing countries"

Ah the Outlander Sport gets a 2.4L in the US

#

Yeah we don't

With a CVT also

Oof they "big" full-size gas powered Outlander (also a 2.0L) is actually 4k more expensive as the PHEV

R34s are not 25 years old yet, and are illegal to import as such. I wouldn't be surprised if a few slip past due to some forgery by sketchy import dealers, but if you get caught then its game over

#

The ones for the back are kinda ehh in fitment.

For my car, the back window is only covered like 97%

It's enough that I can see from my driving position, but annoying that there isn't any bigger sizes.

indigo coral

I prefer automagical transmissions cause my IQ is far too low to drive manual

civic girder
#

Driving manual is not hard, at all

it just takes practice

#

my only thing against autos is that almost every single one I've ever driven or ridden in has not been a very pleasant experience

I prefer a smooth ride, where its only bumpy because I fucked something up. I've not yet seen an auto that can shift smoothly enough to satisfy me

#

That is part of why I like the way the Prius rides

#

CVT is smooth because theres no gear changes

civic spoke

My main issue with automatics is that they don't shift when I want them to shift, etc.

And I use engine braking a whole bunch.
