Literally just put a brush guard on my avalanche today and tonight I hit a deer for the first time ever good timing
Still got my grille and left some fur on the guard lol
Looked so nice this morning π
I hit a bird with my truck a while back. I think it hit the wind deflector up top or something. Because I saw nothing of the bird.
Other than a piece of feather on the antenna.
I had a Barn Owl attack my 97 silver eclipse once. bounced right off the top of windshield.
while I was going down the highway @ eh 70MPH
@civic spoke have you seen the KONA electric?
450km range
80% charge in whatever less than 8hrs
Yeah, I have heard of it. Time to charge isn't really an issue if it's going to be charged on the daily.
258 mile EPA range
Most EV's that you want to buy is around β¬30~40k
Renault Zeo is in the lower range. of β¬30k
But there are a bunch around β¬40k
If I get 150 km of real world range, then I'm honestly happy.
The e-Golf is probably a solid option as well.
the E-mini looks pretty appealing to me
How much monster must I consume to become Gale Banks
How much monster must I consume to become Gale Banks
Twice as much apparently
Oof lol JD xD

heh

Β―_(γ)_/Β―
parking brake
Ah, isn't that just (!) like on literally every car? π
That's brake failure in my car.
Oof xD
My record is 6.0 l/100km according to my car. But I know it's lying.
laughs in 5l/100km
I don't really care about the economy since LPG is cheap anyway
Although our "cheap" is basically regular in the US xD
my car could do better but it's mostly short trips with no time to heat, or long road where i push a little hard, but i do 6L/100km with a 1.5l diesel
Imagine using a diesel for short trips
all the cars we've got are diesel Β―_(γ)_/Β―
How's the market share for diesels nowadays in France?
meh idk, we never bought new
yeah, why buy a new car that will depreciate fast when you could buy one who has already depreciated
Exactly
That's why we always bought 4 year old cars with regular mileage for less than half the new price
Also: literally unaffordable here with emissions taxes
Imagine a world where diesel is $5/gallon
It's only 6USD/gallon here
happens bcs of what is going on in china, demand was lowered a bit there and so the price is getting cheaper
I remember a time where it was sub 1β¬/L
Oof that's cheap
Yes
Gotta love having LPG and living right next to the Belgium border
Nearest Dutch station is β¬0.744, basically double xD
Further away it's β¬0.629, still over 50% more expensive
@fair bronze I'm getting there
hmm
Empty X)
Changed out the front motor mount for my car.
I didn't expect it to change a lot, but it felt so much better when shifting gears, and even when just turning off the car.
That little death rattle that happens when the gas is cut off isn't as strong anymore x'D
nice!
Oh, and either Honda made a bad design decision, or the welds on this one nut broke x'D
The front most bolt, the nut that holds it onto the frame got loose.
I'm not sure how my motor mounts are
gonna be a huge pain when they inevitably have to be replaced lol
Lol
This front one should've only taken me like 20 minutes or so.
But cause of that one nut, it took a lot longer.
I'm lucky my dad got home at that time, cause otherwise my car would've been stuck and undriveable.
Considering the prescribed method for valve cover gaskets in my car is engine out, I'm going to guess its a pain in the ass
Oh damn x'D
My driver-side mount is also pretty easy.
Had to take it off to change the timing belt
Passenger-side mount will be a bit harder, but I can put my hand around it without taking anything off.
The rear mount will be the hardest.
Though I'm probably never gonna mess with it.
yeah, we didn't end up dropping the motor to fix it
had to sacrifice a socket, but we permanently resolved the issue
oof? xD
there was a bracket that hooked to the back of the intake, and hooked around the frame
it was pressed incredibly tightly against the firewall
The RX-7 could probably use motor mounts
though its a rotary, its smooth af
even if the mounts are shot, you can't tell lmfao

Accord motor mounts are almost comically easy to get at.
I'm happy you got it fixed
I sheered a bolt when I did it.
which car
It's a Corolla hatchback.
Kind of amusing to see they are in fact 100% Japanese cars.
JDM bro. It's totally the same thing.
Also behold. Poggodemon.
Mines 100% german
Sure, it shouldn't matter where something is made, but there remains that perception.
Some people say they can notice the difference between German and Spain built Corsa's
I never noticed it
It's usually fit and finish details... or paint quality.
Ideally automakers want the McDonald's approach to their products. No matter the factory or market, a Ford will be a Ford.
Same with McDonald's. Spain, US, Japan... a burger will taste the same... and it does.
And if it's 2019, or 2029, it will taste the same
I imagine both the 2019 and 2029 burgers by now will be quite dry and crunchy.
Probably
I know my parents Meriva is from the Spain plant, but the paint or finish details are at least as good... If not better
But ofcourse it was also a more "high-end" car compared to the Corsa
They built the 3-door variant in Germany, 5-door in Spain
You do notice differences in for example German and Mexican built VW's, But that's not only a different factory but they also use different materials inside
VW redefined shitty QC when they built their original Pennsylvania factory back in the day.
VW has been dealing with the shadow of crap quality in all metric since.
My VW would like to argue with that /s
They've gotten better since then, but... "wouldn't you rather the car have been built in Germany?"
VW Americanized too much in the 70s. lol
I still think they're doing it all wrong.
The older 00s Jettas were the good stuff. Semi-luxury up market compacts... then in the 10s they went as down market as they could to capture a niche they didn't need to capture. The Mirage niche.
mine is a 2003 yes
So then they tried to make the last gen Jetta better by trying... then the new generation comes around with a twist beam axle and the smallest engine they could get away with.
I can confirm its a crayon factory inside
No
I'll take crayons over the vomit smell some plastics emit.
oh?
depression
oof
Smallest engine they could get away with?
Laughs in European 1.0.TSI
My legs would like to compete for that title
It is the US.
Last gen base engine was a 2.0 8V from the 80s.
It was low on power, fun, and fuel economy.
My Mk4 has the mighty 2.8 VR6
So it's perfect for a VW

Oof some nice parts
that Golf doesn't sound very happy.
Well it's an old turboless diesel, revving it higher would probably make it even slower xD
https://youtu.be/Q0tQWr-_4LI this is happy

FWD
Put it in reverse and you have RWD
It'll basically be a 911
It is! The Golf was created when they put a Beetle (911) body the wrong way on a chassis
Bet you didn't know that
Wtf that starter noise
That didn't take long lol
I mean
there was also a Tesla that broke while parked
and there have been plenty of Teslas burning down in the past as well
yea but how many Teslas are on the road vs. how many Taycans are on the road...
N = 1
Also, who said the fire started with the car itself? Could just as well been a seperate fire, which ignited the Porsche.
Before jumping to conclusions, wait for the investigation to finish
also, we never hear from what goes great, we always hear from what goes wrong
and a garage burning down is as wrong as it gets.
not like anyone waited for investigations to finish on Tesla fires but ok...
...
and for a fire to occur this early in its production run is either bad luck or a serious problem
That's an epic starter @civic girder
who wants an epic coil
the first start I do in that video is: hold key until it starts up nice
second start I do is: bump key and let it sputter to life
Well no if we have CCTV footage of a Tesla spontaneously catching fire the investigation is kinda redundant
And yes I've also seen other EVs catching fire on the news, from Tesla to Leaf to an i8 to... . Unless there is clear proof of how it happened based on an article, just wait for the investigation to finish.
Yes, it's possible it caught fire itself. Yes, it's also possible it was set on fire. Yes, it's also possible there was an electric wall box which malfunctioned. Yes, it's also possible there was a house fire. Do we know what happened? No.

all hail the mighty spinning triangle
Dorito ftw
DORITO POWER
As I said, it's either bad luck or a serious problem
Or you're biased af
how is that bias?
You're only sharing positive Tesla news here and negative news about their competition
it's either not the porsche's fault, the porsche's fault but something very rare to go wrong, or the porche's fault and something that was likely to go wrong based on some design/manufacturing flaw
Chevy Spark
Honestly I'm just waiting on MK to post a glow plug.
Of what
The thing diesels use.
spark plugs make good projectiles when their threads die
He doesn't have a diesel though
Wait... his Opel isn't a diesel?
Nope
oh right... he uses LPG?
He has pure speed
Yes sir
My mistake.
No worries
On right... we can wait for Conradish to post a glow plug.
I think his van is diesel... or the truck.
Must be a truck
Just pour diesel into your gas car, it'll work
fuel = fuel
If you pour diesel into a Skyactiv X... will it still run? π€
Right
A trend I'm not a fan of.
Your car shaped key fob.
It's a tiny porsche to start your real porsche
I wish the Toyota key fob was smaller.
But Toyota saved the 15p so they could put that money into... uhhhhhh something.
Moni
No I don't have a glow plug
It's indeed LPG
So the gas version + another fuel tank
Or propane or whatever it's called in the US
It's actually a mixture of propane/butane over here
I've never heard of LPG here
I imagine it's probably not for automotive use.
https://gazeo.com/up-to-date/news/2017/LPG-car-sales-up-in-the-US,article,9708.html
Idk how reliable this is, but 200k LPG vehicles in the USA apparently
Or autogas
That's another name for it
Welcome to 'merica
And don't forget that the US autogas market comprises almost exclusively commercial vehicles, including in no small part school buses
Mostly commercial use
figures
Anyway, basically just a gas powered car with some secundary injectors, fuel tank etc which can run on both gas as LPG/propane/autogas/...
Reasons to use it:
- 10-15% less CO2 emissions
- 90% less NOx emissions
Over here: - Cheaper fuel
But not all engines can run it (will just blow the valves out xD), and the system itself requires an investment
laughs in BMW 316g
I actually had enough money left over so I could refuel my car

I love my 2017 GT model :3
I love my 1983 Mazda RX-7 GS example
lol
They need to bring back those cars ;/
Some guy is building the mighty RX 7 four rotary engine c:
Funny how when a Tesla catches on fire there's 500 news stories about in within 20 minutes
but when a Taycan catches on fire literally only Electrek and a few rando blog sites have stories about it...
I mean
The Taycan may not have been the actual cause of the fire
and its possible the owner wanted to keep the news small
afaik, a vast majority of Tesla fires involve cars that are actively on the road and therefore impeding traffic, so ofc there's gonna be a million news vans and copters at the scene in moments
but this was much different
Tesla cars are also very fire-prone due to their unstable chemistry
^
There were a couple iPaces that caught fire too, but instead of stoically ignoring the problem and telling customers to get bent, Jaguar compensated the owners and took care of it
I actually never heard about those
I'm not saying the Taycan caused it
just that the media bias against Tesla is made clear by this event
Tesla's are actually very not fire prone, FUD fails in the face of facts
The media is biased against everything
twitter thread about Tesla fire risk
Yes, media sources have biases.
But, regardless of political affiliation, most media sources make articles whenever a Tesla catches on fire
But literally only 1 legitimate news source made an article about the Taycan...
like bruh
Ah yes, a Tesla focused channel defending Tesla. Who'd have thought??
genetic fallacies ftw
fallacies*
shh
I found a flaw in their math:
- Between 2014 and 2016, 171.000 cars caught fire
And then they use that number as annual
Anyway, that means the rate is 0.021% including EVs ^^
46% of which started due to electric failure, 26% due to liquids.
So, applying the average 0.021% to the all-time Tesla sales figures, it results in 199 fires a car annually
Don't forget that most ICE car fires start when they're older too, the only car I've personally ever seen catching fire is a 1997 Volvo V70 Estate
@stoic ledge Opel is returning to Japan
https://www.autoweek.nl/autonieuws/artikel/opel-keert-terug-naar-japan/
So thatβll mean RHD Opels lol
@stoic ledge if you check the citation, the 171k number is an annualized rate
so no, it's still a .065% rate
There would need to be hundreds of Tesla car fires each year to match ICEV rates of fires
And keep in mind, this is *** only highway fires***, not including all the other vehicle fires across the US.
@fair bronze
Good fun cars in Japan
RHD Opel's are a thing btw, Ireland has them too
Dont you guys know Vauxhall
@eager kite I did check the source, but it's kinda confusing using numerous terms at once like they did in the paper xD
@unreal terrace of course we do, but these are actually RHD Opels, not Vauxhalls π
vauxhalls are RHD opels
But not all RHD Opels are Vauxhalls
theyve just written vauxhall in crayon on it
You basically have:
- LHD: Opel
- RHD:
- England: Vauxhall
- Ireland, Japan: Opel
I have no idea xD
My grandparents had a Black Edition Dacia Sandero... It was Silver
Ah no not Black Edition, but Black Line
"Each year, from 2014 to 2016, an estimated 171,500 highway vehicle fires occurred in the United States, resulting
in an annual average of 345 deaths; 1,300 injuries; and $1.1 billion in property loss."
@stoic ledge
I don't see what's confusing about that
Idk I was taking a π© while reading while getting ready
lets create equality and burn for every ev that burns the equal amount in % of ice vehicles, and the other way around, boosts economy since people need new cars after that, and equality π€
Dacias are kinda good looking
simple and not over designed
looking at you golf 8 and bmw

Stance aside, looks better than stock.
the cambers there because the way hes building it is that hes bagging it
so when its aired out the cambers there, but not while hes driving
So it is bagged.
yea

Nissan Versa looks like a kids drawing of a car
The only car fire I've witnessed was a beat to shit 90s CRV that was already in flames by the time I drove past it
For me it was a Fiat Bravo that was on fire at the side of the road, around 5-10 years ago
fiats being reliable is a joke
there's a guy on another server i'm in that has a tipo, or an egea as they call in in turkey, he had to have a warrantied engine replacement because one of the pistons put in was the wrong size...
So factory fucked up, QC fucked up, dealer fucked up.
That or they somehow managed to get a car from factory to customer without ever cranking the engine.
idk, the guy is bad at english so maybe it wasn't a size issue, but they still had to replace the whole engine due to factory error
Bravo is quite a nice car actually
Yeah and the Punto is/was quite nice too
Yeah and even when it went out of production it looked modern... Really good design
not a bad design at all.
I saw two interesting cars today.

Wee. Car tax paid.
I pay it every month
A tax you have to pay to be able to drive on the road? π
Is it a recurring cost?
Yes. For where I live it can be annually, tri-annually, or every 5 years; whichever you want
the registration means that those plates are still on that car, you still own and drive that car
then afaik I don't have car tax
As far as I know, you don't
another reason Ohio is cool
no car tax, no emissions
no inspections
(though emissions is relative, couple counties have it, but it's pretty lax since anything over 25 years is exempt)
Wait, you're saying you don't want to pay:
- 21% VAT
- CO2 emissions tax
- Road tax every month
- Annual inspections incl emissions
Ah, and ofc the excise duty on fuel
nope
afaik we don't have additional costs on fuel, and I'm 99% sure we don't have sales tax on fuel
lmao
yikes
Ok so you work hard, amd you get a paycheck
Of that paycheck, roughly 45% is tax
Then, you decide to buy a car. The car (for example a 130hp base VW Golf). Before taxes, it's β¬21k. Add 4.5k in VAT, 4k in emissions tax, so the 21k car is 30k.
Next, you pay road tax every month. For a gas Golf, it's roughly β¬65 a month
Then, you fill it up, and you have to pay 7.5USD/gallon since 63% of it is tax

whoa a car channel. wasnt expecting to find this in here
Ofcourse there's a car channel
what whips do yall drive?
2019 Toyota Corolla HB
oo nice
i used to have a 06 mazda 3 hb and when i see those i wonder how they are they look very nice but idk much about them.
The 2019 Mazda 3 is far from perfect.
ive seen them at the dealers and sat in one. its nice but not sporty. more luxury or atleast in my opinion
But feel and driving pleasure isn't as great.
Also seats are not that great, interior feels cramped and dark.
80s Honda are the good ones.
go figure, a Prelude.
of course
And an Si to boot.
hense my name xD
The rear corner of the new Mazda 3 is odd imho, too big/wide/...
I would say I'm jealous, but that would just make me look jealous.
It's equipped with the anti theft device I see
The styling is nice on the new Mazda3, but holy shit they traded in functionality all for style.
Now I know why automakers change concept cars so much for production.
the new mazda 3 hb seems like it has alot less room than my 06 did
https://www.newcarz.de/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/NewCarz-Mazda-3-2019-NB-01.jpg
From thus angle, I don't like it
I actually prefer the sedan
Not something I say often
I prefer the hatchback.
the hatch is like smahsed down
The new sedan looks almost identical to the last gen.
True, but it's the better proportioned one
I like the new hatchback's stance, but the seats and price killed it for me.
the roof on the 1st gen was higher. and im only comparing the 1st because thats the only one ive owned
I can accept the argument the first gen was the best gen.
never really interacted with the 2nd or 3rd gen. and honestly the 1st is the best for me because of the speed3
man... that looks fresh almost 20 years later.
2nd gen was alright inside. Kinda plasticy.
2nd gen was too happy
ive driven a 3rd gen with the 6speed. it was alot quicker than my 5 speed 2.3L
New one is 2.5L only, and I don't think it lacks anything, but it's... dunno.
dull?
The Corolla I got feels no worse if not better.
intresting
Toyota upped their game for the newest stuff.
New one is also 2.0 SkyActive-G and 2.0 SkyActive-X
US only gets the 2.5 SkyActiv-G.
And I doubt we're getting the X.
Doesn't offer anything for the price.
Oof apparently there's even a 1.5 SkyActive-G
i just want to see the speed come back
The SkyActive-X is only β¬800 more than the 2.0 SkyActive-G iirc
The Corolla hatch starts at 20k.
The new Mazda 3 is more expensive with the G in the US.
Adding the X for even a grand more would be hard to swallow.
The engine doesn't add anything relevant in the US market.
It's down ~15 horses compared to the 2.5L
Nice piece of technology tho
Better fuel economy... better than 40mpg? Maybe?
We don't have the 2.5
yeah, which is the hang up for me tbh.
The X offers less power, maybe better fuel economy, and vastly better emissions.
The last one is great in Europe where they tax by emissions.
Yeah well that's why the price difference is only 800β¬ in π³π±
It's actually 4k more, But the CO2 tax is 3k lower
863 USD
oh... Euro has lost ground to the dollar.
Apparently
Gotta love how cars depreciate... I'm looking at an Opel Insignia (Buick Regal)... New price β¬39k, now one year later just β¬27k
That's a third off
Just a couple of years and I can afford it π

You are correct sir
nice. my dad has a 3rd gen
2nd gen bae
3rd gen has lots of issues
Toyota? Issues? Never!
Well the second gen can't run on nitrous

I miss my volvo
oh no
Oof well that's an old image
e-Golf is basically out of production
That's an image of 2014
Where do they state it's 3.3L/100km? Besides that, it was actually correct at the time when the NEDC made it's tests for the 1.6 TDI: it was rated at 3.3L/100km on the highway. And yes, I've said before those are inaccurate, but you literally said it's still valid to compare one result from the same test cycle to another. So basically, VW did nothing wrong.
Also, his Spritmonitor link doesn't show the 1.6 TDI Bluemotion with the NEDC result of 3.3L/100km, but other engines (including the 2.0TDI). Getting the right car still won't get you to the 3.3L/100km, but spreading "facts" with the wrong facts is equally as wrong π
@eager kite
Proof you said that π
Also: why the f* is the red line suddenly drawn much lower? The production emissions are still there fyi
Also: there's no description on which energy they used for the e-Golf. In Germany, most electricity still originates from brown coal, which also emits quite a lot of emissions
that graph is from early 2019
read the entire post, already answers a lot of your objections
and for the comparison thing, that isn't valid here because we aren't comparing anything that the NEDC covers.
@stoic ledge
And the red line is parallel to the line that VW drew for CO2 production per km, meaning its using the same rate that VW is using
Oof if it's really 2019, that's shady π
But why does the red line start lower π
After production, it magically takes away created emission? π€
Strange they used old e-Golf number when they're talking about the oncoming ID.3... those will have a different result
And unsure why they used outdated numbers in 2019
If it was a 2015 chart, the numbers would have been right at the time
bruh, did you not read the twitter thread
the red line is lower because he uses CO2 production estimates for Li-ion that are more realistic
that Volkswagen Newsroom article is from April of 2019
that's the earliest I found it when reverse image searching it on google

oh yeah. Exploding sunroofs are apparently fairly common.
In all cars.
Apparently managing body flex isn't as fine and total as automakers like to pretend. Personally I'm quite happy my car lacks glass on the roof.

@fair bronze just refueled the car, 347km for exactly β¬10
β¬2.88/100km, literally cheaper than an EV
BMW is finally going to kill the X6, 4 series gran whatever and the 6 series gran coupe, and the X2, 2 series, and 1 series?
I imagine their next step will be to eliminate diesels and V8s.
As for questionable EV strategy. They've taken the most conservative and hedged bet approach possible.
Their entire line up rides on two platforms. FWD and RWD based that can take pure gas, hybrid, or pure electric.
Not sure if they're special in that regard at all considering everyone is doing it now. At least Toyota has flavors of their platforms.
Rip, I like the X6
it ain't anywhere near that cheap to fill mine up especially in winter
Lol
I only get 16mpg during wintertime
@eager kite literally cheaper than an EV
How much kWh/100km does an EV use?
15.5kWh/100km EPA for a Model 3 SR+ apparently
Real word probably more
15.5kWh * β¬0.22/kWh = β¬3.41/100km
And that charging at home, public or fast charging is more expensive
So with β¬2.88/100km, it's literally cheaper than an EV
LR Model 3, 322 mi with 75kwh pack
that's 4.2933 mi/kwh
or 6.9094 km/kwh
347km / 6.9094 = 50.22 kwh needed
50.22 kwh * $0.13 per kwh = $6.53
Can we please stick to one set of standards?
stickin with EPA here
I'm not gonna randomly do conversions between mpg, km/L, miles/100 miles, and liters per 100 km.
50.22kWh * β¬0.22 = β¬11,04 > β¬10
not my fault EU power is more expensive lol
Yeah that's why I used .../100km
US average price per kwh is 13 cents
All markets are different. In MK's case... his car is cheaper to run.
also, I converted all my stuff to km...
We can't apply American prices on energy to the rest of the world.
TheΒ average electricity priceΒ in theΒ NetherlandsΒ is 23 centsΒ per kilowatt hourΒ (kWh).
It's 23 cents
xD
Super cheap everything
Diesel less so, but still cheap.
Except health insurance and college
That's what you get for not having road tax xD
You can havr nice roads... If every car pays 70 USD a month
and haven't been increased to account for inflation for 40 years
How much are they
It's per gallon.
^
Gas tax hasn't gone up since the 90s I believe.
That's federal tax mind you.
Like I stated before:
Of that paycheck, roughly 45% is tax
Then, you decide to buy a car. The car (for example a 130hp base VW Golf). Before taxes, it's β¬21k. Add 4.5k in VAT, 4k in emissions tax, so the 21k car is 30k.
Next, you pay road tax every month. For a gas Golf, it's roughly β¬65 a month
Then, you fill it up, and you have to pay 7.5USD/gallon since 63% of it is tax```
and yea, 1993 was the last time someone fucked with it
yea the states have their own ones
In the US you get income tax, sales tax, and then local sales tax tacked on.
gas tax should be at 39.9 cents per gallon right now if it kept up with inflation
ah well. Gas is cheap at least, so that's nice.
It's basically β¬1/liter in gas tax here
but you have nice roads
I could literally destroy my wheels on some of the normal commuter roads here
Well only the "important" part of the country, like The Hague and Amsterdam. All other parts don't matter
Yeah ok no it's not that bad
it's pretty bad
cities are usually good
suburbs are questionable
highways are a hit or miss depending on the state
rural is anyone's guess
highways here are the responsibility of the state to maintain their parts
some states put money into their road work
and others don't
especially the northern and midwest states
I think the highways here are the responsibility of the country itself (?). Other roads connecting townships are the responsibility of provinces, just like the roads in the townships themselves
Atleast, that's what I think
Generally it seems that the states with very variable climates, like the northern and midwest ones, generally just wait until the roads get very fucked and then do single large repair projects to replace a section of the highway.
So most of the time you're driving on the highway it's pretty shit. Then you'll hit the few mile section they redid a year ago and it's super nice
then it immediately goes back to being shit.
Oof well makes sense, colder climate roads get damaged again quite quickly so fixing them for every defect is very expensive
Yea, but at the same time the cost of shutting down one side of the highway and restricting travel like that is not insignificant. Plus, at that point it's a massive effort that needs a ton of people
I think if they just periodically came around and filled in all the damn holes it would delay them needing to tear it all up and replace it
Oof
they do it already as a stop gap measure when it gets really bad but they don't have the funding or they weren't expecting to tear up the road yet
Tarmac roads usually stay good for a very long time around here
Only when they have to do repair for waterlines underneath or something, it gets broken up
Also depends on what type of road, some roads which is used by semi's all day long also tend to "sag" quicker, so they need patches
We just get massive potholes if the roads arent super thiccc
we get big potholes
idk why
we dont get super cold
and theyre always trying to fix them lol
I almost wish I had smaller wheels.
I wanted to upgrade mine to 17" but I'm glad I didn't
Your crossover SUV has the same size as mine
17s would be a nice balance between the two choices Toyota offers now.
i didn't even know 14s were a thing
There are even cars with 13"
14" was only available on the base trim tho, with literally 0 equipment
Oof xD
Or 1998 Peugeot wagon actually had 14" alloy wheels
Those are actually 14's
they're... balloons?
They look like it, because of how wide the sidewalls are.
195/65R15
Basically like these. I have similar rims for my winter tires.
Aargh I should still order new tires for the front
I thought about doing that as well. Then I'd make sure to get alu wheels for both winter and summer.
My rear tires are bad, but I can't just swap them out
without destroying the awd system
new tires = 1300$
not feelin it
theyre fine, just worn unevenly but the uneven part isn't being worn down further, nor is it showing cords, bubbling, anything like that.
Oof
fronts were out of alignment, wore down the inside of the tire
i put them on the back, the worn part is off the ground
lol
if that makes any sense
now that its straight
Yeah I get 'ya
they're suboptimal but i don't think theyre downright dangerous
I do keep an eye on them
π
and I put the more sketchy ones in the back anyways, so if htey do have a problem I still have steering
lmao
Yeah some people say put the best tires in the rears, other say in the front...
I'd also say front since they do the steering
In a RWD car rear would make sense
but my car is strongly front biased, and steering is up front (obviously)
Oof imagine having rear wheel steering only xD
Yes
fastest car in the whole world right there
When you realize that the south used to be a French colony
@stoic ledge I spend 8hrs a day 5 days a week driving one of these
single wheel rear wheel steering is pretty neat
Yeah for a forklift it is, but not for a car xD
X)
Would be neat AF for a city car π
Turning radius of it's own lenght leggo
Rear engine RWD city cars also have an amazing turning radius
:p
well if youve got a beetle you wouldnt want to turn cuz the car could jump off the road
Oof xD
Sounds like tons of fun
Porsche 911 is the perfect car in town confirmed
I'd rather have the Q8.
I'd rather have the Stelvio
i love the lambo urus
i am not a fan
its a big car for no reason at all
if you want a lambo get a lambo
if you want a car that can seat more than 2 go elsewhere
i like SUV cars and i like the style of the lambo
imo it hurts the lambo sporting brand but i suppose lambos were never the best at on track performance
im not a fan of the huge suvs or the tiny crossovers mainly because they have very little actual off-roading capability
but thats just my opinion
I'd get the 159
We used to have the Alfa 156 with one of the V6's.
Lambo has almost always been bought for the wow-factor.
I want to say it's as it says on the label.

Genesis Likely to Launch a G70 Shooting Brake That Looks Like an Enthusiast's Dream
@indigo coral
YES DO IT PLEASE
Jeep
YAYAYAYYAYAAYYAYAYAYAY
Lol
My biggest gripe with the G70 is the tiny cargo space
This would make it perfect
damn I'm so excited for that now
Why do people like wagons so much lol
I am not a huge fan personally, they look ugly imo
Honestly a lot of modern wagons look better than the sedans.
modern automotive styling lends itself to wagons. It works with the chonk that regulations and styling have brought about.
Also the increased utility is nice.
Yeah it is more convenient, it just doesn't look "sporty" imo, but it depends on the car
Personally, a great sports wagon is a combination of practicality and fun
It depends on what you need
I like the look of the sedan better though
You might as well get an SUV instead of a wagon, one of my relatives has a BMW X3 m50i and that thing is a fun car to drive, you forget its an SUV
SUVs tend to get worse fuel economy, and aren't as good on handling.
^
Joys of a higher center of gravity.
Wagons look better anyways
Wagons and crossovers have their places.
however, I may have to suffer SUV life if I end up with an MX-30
True but its not like you would want to get a wagon or SUV to take on a track anyways, you might occasionally but thats not what they are made for
I have no plans to take any car I buy to a track.
sedan or not.
By and large most sedans aren't made to be taken to a track.
Just not fond of SUV's
I wanna take my car to the track lol
There isn't one close by though
My ideal track car would be a beat to shit 80s wagon for 24 hours of lemons
And modded into a tank
I might do some work on my Corolla, but it won't be a track machine.
but other than something like that, I won't be tracking a car
I think lemons racing would be fun if I could get a team together and one of the races was relatively close
I'm still waiting on Toyota to release more TRD parts... anyway bbl
but I can live without tracking a car.
I like my slowpoke 80s wedge
foot to the floor, tach at redline, still not over the speed limit
This is my car
do you use turn signals
my car has those?
One of my family members got this recently
I have to wait until 2024
You'll be able to save up and buy it then
I think I'm gonna buy one
Personally, I'd rather have a R32 or R33
I have enough money for a decent down payment for a Supra or R34
but my dream JDM imports would be a JDM Luce RE or a JDM Turbo FB
Truck guy wants a Skyline?
Didn't expect that
I don't just have a truck
apparently he likes ching chong boosted straight 6's
I have a third gen Camaro
yea
Cool
less truck guy and more like 'Murica guy
It's a boosted LS
Yeah true @civic girder
Running 25+ PSI of boost
It runs low 10's in the 1/4 mile
If I did more chassis tuning I could get mid to low 9's
There was a time when my LS powered van was faster than that Camaro
Because the Camaro didn't have an engine when I bought it
It might be time to spin up the triangles
600+whp Duramax is enough truck for me
inb4 my truck is a rusty piece of shit Nissan hardbody
I kind of really want a truck, but I can't get one rn
ugh, I need to get a house already so I have space for a shitbox collection
Now I just need the hover conversion :p
Those hubcaps are pretty π
I like everything except the hubcaps xD
@warm sparrow
Is that the top coat going or a perfect reflection of the clouds? xD
Guess what I found
A Dacia
No? I give up
||Kinda ruining the guessing game xD||
But yeah nice Ferrari
Guys. Carz question. When I release the accelerator. I get a small hiccup, like 3small shakes of engine. If I press the accelerator, even a bit, it does the same.
Is that normal? (2001 WV 1.6i gas engine)
@urban inlet gas or gasoline engine?
