It doesn't need to be stunning
Looks okay, but is cheaply made, fits together poorly, and that screen is just godawful
It needs to match the price it sells at.
You didn't pay for a god-damned Mercedes
When the SUV costs 60k it does @fathom socket
New Lincoln's are beautiful tho
Don't know why people bitch about their interiors
Explorers go over 50k easily. They should most certainly have an interior that is representative of that price.
If it functions as a vehicle, then it's fine
Because when you have panels flex in a car that costs over 40k...
That's implying corners were cut.
Yeah
Well the interior needs to be on a level for the price and type of car .. it's where you spend all of your time
And frankly my Corolla has redefined my concept of "quality" in a car.
I'm kind of shocked at how squeaky my RX interior is. The center control stack wood-facade squeaks when you press on it.
If Toyota can do it for 20k, everyone else better at the very least match it for 40.
Speaking of interiors, QUALITY OF LIFE mods are the best
It's kind of disappointing for a car that was 40k in 1999.
If you buy an S-class with all the luxury of an S-class but the interior fitment of, idk a 2005 Focus, nobody would buy it xD
Your car was good in 1999.
But, I have people always whining about the bad interior in their $25k car
I imagine an S-class from 1999 today doesn't feel like 120k.
I bet it doesn't creak if you press on the 'wood' though
I think that those complaints often are firmly grounded in reality.
My Corsa doesn't creak
Honda's lack of buttons in their pre-refresh Civic was a fatal flaw.
As was Ford's gen 1 Sync.
Yes
And those were shit at literally any price.
Big problem
Gen 1 sync being MyFordTouch or that one thats tiny 2inch screen?
When you can't adjust the volume by touch alone... I'd say that's pretty bad.
Certain controls should be by touch alone. HVAC, lights, wipers, and power/volume for the radio.
In what car?
All of Honda at one point.
yikes
@stoic ledge what is there to creak
My RX got nasty reviews for the infotainment thingy when it was new. They talked about how difficult it was to use and how complicated it was.
Lol.
If only they could see what's coming.
Kudos to Honda for reducing button count.
Yes
no not that much Honda
I need my buttons
I don't like my dash flooded with them tho
And Tesla has completely removed buttons
Which is too far
Buttons
The Focus was a flawed car that was begging for a refresh to dominate the US compact market.
and nah
Go buy an Ecosport instead.
my RX has loads of buttons pogkek
I've come around to it.
It's the compact crossover that does what it's meant to.
It's your mini urban runabout.
@stoic ledge can I dump the clutch in your car at redline with trays under the rear tires
It's heinously ugly, slow, the interior is dreadful, and its overpriced.
Great for puttering around town.
What benefits does it have????
A god damn 3 cylinder in a crossover is too litlle
Those boosted little shitty engines are going to die in short order
@normal temple lol xD But why
Or a high power 4 banger
not even the Escape comes with a V6 anymore.
Which is incredibly stupid
The tiny turboed engines don't even get much better fuel economy
look at it like this.
The Ford Ecosport is 2000 dollars cheaper than the Chevy Trax.
And equally tiny and miserable crossover.
My grandmother's Ford Escape comes with a 250 HP twin turbo 2.0l
@stoic ledge I need to experience Opel power
Amazing! A car I'd never buy is cheaper than another car I'll never buy.
Yes... these aren't cars aimed at you.
@normal temple buy a Saturn Astra xD
But yeah. Ecosport ain't that overpriced tbh.
Their aimed at people ford wants to bend over and screw on maitenence in a few years.
EcoSport is overpriced here
All small SUVs have tiny underpowered engines... apart from Honda who is too cheap to develop a new engine.
My grandmother's Escape is damn fast for a crossover
Give it a year, and a new one will probably have a tiny engine.
They should have made a V8 Stinger/G70.
But shipment on a "cheap" car from Brazil is quite expensive relatively speaking, so the car gets expensive
There's been some rumours of a Stinger GTR but there was a "not now" from Kia.
Unfortunately.
Then there's the... Toyota C-HR...
Ew
Arguably.
Can someone over in German land import me some parts for my car pls
No AWD option.
Thx
@normal temple what do you need?
Ford and Chevy are competing for a Niche they have priced themselves out ouf.
For an E30?
Ye
Oof
Cause then you have the Nissan Kicks, Hyundai tiny thingie
None of the small crossovers are compelling vehicles.
Cause the euro headlights over here are $500+
But the headlights over there are generally around 100
I have a friend who got a fully loaded Kicks for about 22k.
Lemme see what they cost here
Perfect for his needs.
Sweet! Power seats! What a crazy option!
Good mileage, excellent storage, 360 back up camera, and a few other goodies.
side note
Surprisingly good fuel economy actually.
how is the Lexus UX so crampedf?
TNGA platform.
It's almost the same size as my RX.
Toyota is shoving a crossover onto a compact platform.
It's only marginally smaller than my RX.
~2 inches shorter
It's tiny, while mine comfortably seats 5 + their luggage
a new Lexus RX is 19 inches longer than mine.
Wtf.
@normal temple about โฌ40-50 each side for the headlights
It's a fair bit smaller than the NX
Oof
It's ~6 inches shorter
It's basically a fancy Corolla hatchback.
Same platform, same engine.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/25/2019_Lexus_UX_200_MZAA10_M20A-FKS_engine_(20190722).jpg/1280px-2019_Lexus_UX_200_MZAA10_M20A-FKS_engine_(20190722).jpg Literally identical. I should get the Lexus engine trim and put it on my car.
Seems like newer cars are poorly packaged
If you can barely fit 4 + small cargo in a car similarly sized to a car that can comfortably fit 5 + a big cargo area
Toyota is putting a dozen cars onto one platform.
In this case they had to compromise.
I'm fine with it. It drives like a dream.
Yeah Toyota's new platform is quite good
It's not a bad platform, just surprises me.
Could be bigger, sure.
I'm still chuckling.
I could 100% get that engine cover, and say I swapped in a Lexus engine.
Too bad they never made a hot hatch version of the CT200h
There wasn't a hot engine in the lineup to make a hot CT200.
There is now, but Lexus killed the CT200h.
bring it back on the prius platform
Just slam the 3.5 V6 in it
make it fast

TNGA-C
And there is no engine that hot in the line up.
170 2.0 or the 180 horsepower 2.0 hybrid.
It's warm enough.
That'd give you what? 8 seconds to 60? 10?
Focus RS can do it in 4.5 according to Google
And the Focus RS costs 40k.
It was a glorified Prius.
and it was more expensive
CT200h was nicer inside tho
It was, but now y'all get the Corolla HB.
@normal temple how heavy would 2 of those headlights be?

Too bad there wasn't an automatic Focus RS.
lol
I'd get one if it came in auto.
I don't miss the lack of a CD player.
Luckily there wasn't an automatic Focus RS
Ftfy ^^
nah
Shame. Ford could have gotten a hot hatch that was legit faster than a Mustang GT.
@stoic ledge each is roughly 15-20 lbs
Cars like that need a manual
They ruined the car by only offering a manual.
Probably a little bit more lol
Cars like that need an automatic. Otherwise fewer and fewer people will buy them.
They should have offered both.
And then they'll stop selling em because no one buys em.
Oof so combined that's 15-20kg... Shipping that to the US is expensive @normal temple
Lots of people bought the RS
If car enthusiasts are so adamant about manual only... they could probably go buy a new manual car.
Its probably still less than me getting it here
Shipping can get hella expensive over 10kg.
Actually the real move is flying into Germany, buying the lights, and bringing em back home in my bag
Probably
๐ค ๐ค ๐ค
I don' think you can do that
Lmao
Unless you want the trip
It'd have to be checked luggage.
wouldn't they confiscate it
nah
Nop
it wouldn't be a us dot certified headlight though
They might drop it off a small building to see if the lights will survive.
do you hvae inspection?
No
If it's 25 years or more... who cares.
who cares? lol
oh do the restrictions not apply anymore after 25?
Not really
yep
Up to 20kg is almost โฌ120 to the US
Or โฌ95 with DHL
Max box size 80x50x35 cm
Which is 32x20x7 inches? Idk if that would fit
But even with shipping, it's nearly half of the US price
I see a new market here ๐ xD
Oof no, that's just weird
heh
not too bad
It got delivered ๐
Finally
nice color
Maybe I'll see you soon on the Belgian roads
Not even that many XC90's xD
Not in Limburg they're not xD
you are just not looking in the correct places ๐
Probably
Full solar roof when
where I live now if I plug it in they will steal my cable ๐
oof
Belgium? brussels / Molenbeek ๐
yeah I live in Dilbeek
it's right next to Molenbeek
they all come over here to steal our shizzle
All Wallonian because they don't work
but there I have a chargeing pole installed
Oof nice
so they will have a hard time stealing that cable ๐
Inb4 they steal the pole itself
how about them cars
love em
^
I want to sleep in my car
Urge to take my blanket and pillow and just sleep in the back seat is strong
Do it
Volvo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NBqcXjuYWU& I want this.
The GMC Motorhome is something special. I bought one of the last ones ever made in 1978. This is a tour of the unmodified RV, and an explanation of what made this Motorhome so groundbreaking that it has remained unrivaled to this day 40 years later. After that we'll start the ...
Oof those look quite cool imho
They're cool until you realize how much they leak inside, lol
what, RVs?
Yeah
Ours doesn't leak ๐ฎ
Lucky mofo
ours is old but it lives in the garage and has been well kept
Oh, that's probably why... My family went through multiple older ones and they all would leak, despite us always patching it up.
That's pretty nice actually
I dont know the exact model of the one my family owned, but it was a late 80's winnebago
Damn, that is really low
It lives in the garage so its not beat on by weather all year, which helps it not leak lmao
Lmao, yeah I'd imagine that helps a lot xD
RVs usually don't have much mileage
Usually they get parked for 98% of the year, some don't get used for years at a time
There are exceptions to everything though
Idk man, I see a lot of old people always driving them around... ๐คฃ
Damn that's massive
Ain't that a bus
@unreal terrace larger than the average coach in Europe xD
Probably the same size, we have a similar thing here
But they're busses remade to RVs
I've seen some but very rare in ๐ณ๐ฑ
Also: waay to big, won't fit xD
https://www.top-camper.eu/assets/uploads/images/_large/Weinsberg-Pepper-exterieur.jpg
This was the best selling RV in ๐ณ๐ฑ apparently
674cm long (265"), a Fleetwood Discovery is 36ft 3" (435" a.k.a 1105cm)
Big difference xD
I'd rock whatever that is
It's a Weinsberg Pepper, never heard of it before xD But it's based on a Peugeot Boxer (which is a Fiat Ducato / RAM ProMaster)
Thought it looked familiar
Europe got a refreshed Ducato/Boxer/...
It looks better
They're super popular in the US
Are they ๐
Logical considering they're the cheapest of the vans
And have a fairly wide and massive cargo area
Yeah well tbh they aren't bad, interior is not too shabby, and if the price is right it's a great van
Oof this generation has been for sale since 2006, exactly what I thought
They're pretty bad to drive apparently
14 years, time for a new one xD
But... People don't buy cargo vans to go to a track day
Bad in handling or powertrain?
Handling apparently
They handle better with cargo inside
i dont think ive ever even seen one of those
Promasters are everywhere in the southeast
They rival the Mercedes vans used by Amazon
Sprinters are much more expensive
Yep
Atleast over here
Still a Mercedes
Yeah xD
Then we also have the Opel Movano/Renault Master, VW Crafter and the Transit (2500-3500 sized that is iirc)
1500 sized is the Opel Vivaro/Peugeot Expert/Citroen Jumpy, VW Transporter, Renault Traffic and Ford Transit Custom
I don't think the Transit Custom is sold in the US, is it?
Ah yes we have the connect too
I might've seen one or two of that RAM van
primarily people buy Sprinters, Metris and Transit here.
I see the Nissan NVs everywhere for some reason, even though they are literal garbage compared to everything else in its class
They are classic trucks
Ford's van line-up:
- Courier
- Transit Connect
- Transit Custom
- Transit
NV is literally garbage
Which NV?
all of them
same here
The dork van and truck van.
we might have a larger one than the 400 as well, idk for sure
all I know is that I can beat them from a stoplight in the RX-7, which is sad
I can beat them in the Prius too
Oof vans that get beaten by a sportscar
https://media.autoweek.nl/m/ivbyfagbgfjk_800.jpg
These? (NV300 left, NV400 right)
Nissan is focusing on lower power products
oh yeh lots of NVs here too
like, if I beat you in either of my cars, either your car is 500% trash or you can't drive
Nissan has fuel economy down.
the Prius is effectively 75hp lugging 3k lbs of weight
the RX-7 is at best 90hp and weighs about 2400 lbs
That means my car is trash since it's slower
not really
I swear to you, the EV motor shuts off at WOT
that's why its effectively 75hp
torque is useless in acceleration beyond a certain point as well
https://youtu.be/de74Tw0f7Xc
100km/h in 11s
Toyota Prius Acceleration 0-155 km/h 2007 1.5 hybrid
Mines 14

Mine is 7-8ish
I'd have to test mine against that, but I don't think its that fast
Video it
My Prius is probably closer to 12 or 13 based upon butt dyno
the RX-7 is probs about 10
Yea, my only thing with getting it on video is: where the fuck do I do that safely
Yeah that's quite hard indeed
lmao
๐
Lol xD
xD
hmmm... a teriyaki turbski for my motorcycle...
So a post refresh last year hurrah
I love the paint scheme render tho
Ching chang spooly thang @civic girder
lmao
that's probably on the list, tbh
surprisingly, it actually isn't
Ching chang spinnnyyyy tannnng
nevermind it is
WOAH BMW OWNER AND TURN SIGNALS
They're LED too
So people can actually see them
The universe is definitely collapsing
lmfao
It's gonna be 8F tomorrow morning
or should I say this morning
smh, I need to go to bed

From the manual for the Briggs&Stratton 15A114-0342-E1
(Ye it's not for cars, but it's an engine, so F it)
s t o c k p h o t o s
@drifting mantle Worst car for doing anything involving common fluids is the Alfa 4C.
Window washer fluid.
lol
I don't know if I should be surprised or not that my car is barely burning any oil.
depends on the car
And I should take a pic of me adding two stroke to the 7 next time I get gas
I used to do that with my truck
Until I replaced the valve cover gaskets when I built the engine
i think mines rated for 30.000km or something stupid
10k miles for my car.
I trust Toyota.
I think the Prius is either 5k or 10k, I don't remember.
The RX-7 is 3k + regularly topping off oil
I do it around 5, and checking it quite often.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/617178565699567651/677780730201243658/jp4ie465wue21.png
And welcome back to RX-7 discord shennanigans
LOL
I always change it at 10k miles (1 year) but it should be good enough for 20k miles
I'm probably going to get the head gasket replaced prematurely on the Prius, just so I can get those ceramic pieces out. I doubt they're gonna come out on their own
And unfortunately, I'm probs gonna have to take it somewhere for that. The best way to remove the head on the motor is to remove the engine from the car first
and I don't have the shit to do that
Y I K E S
I downloaded a pdf of my car's service manual and its frankly ridiculous
There's wayyy better ways of doing things than it says
I should get a service manual and/or Haynes guide for the Prius
I already have workshop manual and Haynes guide for the RX-7
It's an engine out job to do valve covers in my car, for the '99
because of that bracket we fought with
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/638872947473252364/659884027385479212/P_20191226_172322.jpg
"By our power's combined...."
Someday I need to go look in the Haynes guide about some of the shit that doesn't work
bracket for what
goes from the back of the intake around a frame rail thing
it wasn't even under any tension or anything
just... there
shoved up against the firewall
it's probably a bracing to keep the intake from moving around
except the way the bracket was hooked on there, it sitll had a lot of room to move
We didn't put it back
what do you mean by "intake" in this case
Took us 2 hours (and a sacrifical socket) to get it out
the big metal thing on top of the engine
interesting
the 2000+ cars didn't even have it
why the fuck would they need to brace that
I could see them bracing like a hose to the airbox or something
not like theres a warranty to lose or anything
but not the intake itself
yea, just leave that bitch off lol
sounds pointless to me
it was pushed so far up against the firewall it was damn near impossible to get out
We had to cut up a socket as small as we could, slip it aorund the back (the bolt was against the firewall) and pull really hard to let it fit, then undo it
so yeah it aint going back
I still haven't replaced that vacuum solenoid thing and put my engine cover back on ๐
mekanik
if Toyota says 10k, I'd say do it every 8k
my service intervals are 5k.
$50 oil changes are expensive af
wat
It's not too bad.
thats not dreadful
I mean
lexus dealer wants 300$ to do it lmfao
It's like $30 cheaper to do it yourself
i did it for 17 bucks in oil and a filter
but to be fair $50 is cheaper than a lot of other places
Honestly. Over the last few years I did it. The cost was the same as taking it to a dealer for myself.
$50 oil changes expensive? The oil itself is nearly that
damn
buy it at costco
Nah, the plane ticket is too expensive
23$ for 6 quarts of full synthetic
xD
I get Walmart oil for like $5
$2 for a filter
I know how to do it... I'm just too lazy and the time it takes me.
yeah but you use fram filters ๐ @civic girder
both my cars take less than 5 quarts of oil, so all I need is a 5 quart
they're terrible
@indigo coral shhhhhhhh
and the Prius has a Toyota filter now. And the RX-7 will get a real filter next time as well
I do have to bring it in for the annual inspection, they can then change the oil etc for me
I'm actually glad to see that my engine is (as far as I can see) sludge free
There's a good chance the Toyota uses a generic OEM filter made by FRAM or Mobil.
I'd have to assume that there'd be sludgey stuff in the top if it was in the bottom, and the top was pretty damn clean considering the car had never been opened up
And apparently the quality ranges with Denso depending on where they are made.
that can be with a lot of products
I'll probably just upgrade to a TRD filter.
idk if there's many brands that have universal quality on everything
Apparently they're US made.
especially Tesla
ngl I'm surprised my dad didn't look at a used 4Runner TRD Pro
when we got our Explorer
that's cause 4Runner bad
cause he isn't a fan of technology in cars (or so he claims, he certainly seems to like heated steeringwheel/adaptive cruise in his Taurus)
jk, not really
And he wants something thats gonna last forever
Ah, he wants something that will last
honestly, I'm not a big fan of offroady looking suvs usually, but the 4runner TRD Pro looks damn good
Older Tundra
he wanted something fairly new.
Both of our cars were low miles (when we got them, explorer not so much anymore)
Taurus had 19k miles when we got it, Explorer had 30
taurus now has like 28k and Explorer is closing on 70
2013 and 2014 respectively
Since I've been alive, my parents have only bought brand new. The Lexus was the one car my dad has bought used in my entire life
My mom bought a brand new truck when she was in her early 20s, and kept it until I started driving
everything else has been used
Imagine buying new cars
She had her truck for 22 years
I mean, buying new isn't bad
Afterall, you can't get cheap used cars if no one buys new cars to replace their old ones
somebody has to do it
And if you have the money required to buy new over used, why not just get new
depreciation
Well new cars are bought by or pensioners or as company cars, everything else is used or imported (also used)
depends on the car thuogh

somebody has to buy new G70s, or there won't be used G70s to sell
Cars here depreciate even faster due to emissions tax
yeah old boomers do
who drive them carefully to brunch
then sell them to idiots like me
faccs
WELL
idk about the g70
that one is more youthful/sporty than the other Genesis cars
I mean, I'm gonna be suckered into buying whatever Mazda's next car is that has a rotary
I doubt you'll ever see rotary again as a primary method of propulsion
Whether that's an MX-30 or something else, we'll see
maybe as the range extender
There are rumors of a new RX-7.
and then I'll be an idiot who buys a new car
MX-30 is an EV
If they also release a new RX-7, I guess I'll be buying two cars lmao
(burning oil, garbage fuel economy, etc?)
The sound tho
Cause that's not going to sit well with consumer reports and Mazda will be blasted all over the internet
they will probably never "fix" the oil burning
The wankel engine burns oil by design
It's unknown if Mazda will release a new rotary.
However, they can fix economy and emissions
MX-30 sure, but an actual sports car? who knows
^
They're weird because they're small.
Regardless, I'm gonna buy rotaries
I heard it's an alright engine.
brand new because fuck it
It's not what people expected.
Yes, but it is much much cleaner.
yeah
and then I'll proceed to continue dailying the Prius despite having an EV with range extender :p
Shame the new Mazda 3 is such a porker.
and honestly kinda weird looking
It looks nice enough.
I have no comment as I have not sat in one
the hatchback looks like its trying to eat the road
It's pretty bad. There is essentially no usable rear view.
the CX-30 looks really weird cause its a 3 with a lift kit and plastic trim everywhere
You rely very heavily on blind spot monitoring and the back up camera.
the Honda/Kia/Genesis tech where its got the camera in the mirror is damn cool
eliminates the need for looking over your shoulder, since there's no blindspots
eh
It's not a great system.
just adjust your side mirrors to remove blind spots
you turn on the signal and it pops up in the gauge cluster
Honda's only works for right turns.
^
really?
Yep
yeah
the Genesis/Kia one works for both
And is in the gauge cluster.
Kia/Hyundai's approach is better.
Hyundai owns Kia and Genesis
I was saying they were different from Honda
I turn my head, my mirror covers the blind spot, and I have BSA.
I don't need a camera at that point.
I can see easily out of my car since it's got a low beltline, incredible visibility and huge windows, but my Mom's explorer is hard to see out of
a camera would really be nice in that
My friend's mom has a 16 Accord Touring with the camera, its only for right turns. I think it's in the cluster, but idk for sure.
My coworker has a 13 Fit, it has right turn camera on the center console
If you put your side mirrors pointing away, you can eliminate blind spots
And then a lot of cars have the little amber lights in the mirrors to indicate if someone is in your "blind spot" which is nice
i can't cover all my blindspots
but since i can see so well out the corners/back its not a big deal
the mirrors in my car are stupid
aren't most mirrors slightly convex?
mine are flat.
idk why mine are so awful, but the mirrors are huge yet you can't see much out of them
I think mirrors are legally required to be flat.
like not a very wide field of view
You can have a secondary mirror I think.
idk
I'd wager the mirros on my car is part of the reason the fuel economy sucks
part
the rest of it is that transmission
Dacia is going to stary selling an EV next year... A really affordable EV
Just enough range to go to the store and back
like the nissan leaf?
Pretty much
Probably a Zoe drivetrain I'd expect, idk
if we arent careful we'll summon satan
Most likely @stoic ledge
so we should probaby change the topic
You mean saetan
I will stand by the MX-30 and Prius Prime being the superior EV
range extended EVs (except the BMW i3) are what we need since pure EV tech and infrastructure isn't there yet
BMW i3 range is pure trash, even with the range extender
PHEV would be perfect for my parents.... Daily commutes as EV, if they have to go further they can use the regular gas engine... Perfect
Yea
I can't see myself being able to have an EV anytime soon
I'm about to get a new job that will add about 15-20 miles onto my commute
but a range extended EV? I can see it.
I guess my options when it comes time are gonna be:
Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
Toyota Prius Prime
Mazda MX-30 with range extender
MX-30 doesn't have a range extender, does it?
Ah we only get it as BEV, 35.5kWh
bummer
Ah maybe we get is later, but not confirmed yet
He's also got a Camaro.

Bruh, I want people to do a real world test on this, for some reason I doubt the actual results of the range.
tesla overstates range
Yeah... That's stupid
Depends on the range standard used.
EPA is 370 and NEDC is 393
Specifically for the AWD 100D/Long Range
Man those are heavy cars. 4850 pounds.
Real-world range is closer to 250 miles
Real world range... like in literally anything "depends"
Well yeah, but on average if you're driving like a sane person would you're never going to hit 350+ miles.
That's what you get doing 45 in the slow lane with the heater/AC off
I'd have to try it out personally.
I've found my highway driving lines up fairly well with my car's predicted EPA mileage.
ye but your car is not an inefficient tesla
lol
the PTC heater takes up loads of power
since tesla refuses to use a heat pump
I imagine I could get 350+ miles in a Tesla S.
if it's 70F out and dry maybe
Preheat at home, and use seat heaters on the road.
but the heater can take up to like 5kw
It's Alabama. My car warms up in the sun more than not.
oof
For about 6 months of the year my car rarely leaves max hot
lol
but I'm also weird
damn, wow
I've got...problems when it comes to cold
Nah, all that aside.
I think I could give Tesla's range a good shot.
Gonna try for 40+ mpg tomorrow.
oof
Doing another Atlanta run.
I get less than 40mpg rolling down hill'
only way I can get the indicator over 40 is if i either put it in neutral or am going 45+ down hill
Also I think I've largely given up on my car getting Android Auto.
bluetooth is good enough at this point.
My car says I get 99.9 mpg down a hill @indigo coral
mine has so much drag from the motor/trans that I lose speed going down hill
have to keep accelerating
l m a o
@night current Range for electric cars is highly depandant on how you drive it, but even more the climate you drive it in.
Driven in extreme cold climates drops the range by A LOT
Jason Cammisa even lost 20% range on his e-Golf when changing from the eco tires with a smaller rim, up to a set of rims with the Pilot Sport 4S.
yeah
Tesla just reports the estimated range by that region's regulatory commission
so it the US that's the EPA estimate
390 is the new EPA estimate
It says 379 miles (610 km) for us here in Sweden
that's prob the outdated WLTP estimate
I'm not even sure how they do the real-world estimates.
The WLTP procedure (world harmonized light-duty vehicles test procedure) is a global, harmonized standard for determining the levels of pollutants, CO2 emissions and fuel consumption of traditional and hybrid cars, as well as the range of fully electric vehicles. This new prot...
Asking, because my car can do anything between 6~8 L/100km. Depending on how I drive it.
Lately it's in the 7.5 L/100 km range. But it can go as low as 6 L/100 km.
I generally go 700~750 km's before I do a refill.
I saw a thing saying the first gen RX "eats transmissions like they're tic tacs"
Lol
It's not that bad if you use the car for it's intended purpose
Aka not towing
Seems like the vast majority pass 100k on original trans, some even 200k
Sure the risk is higher than normal but not quite eating them like tic-tacs
then you live in รstersund or umeรฅ and you actaully get 100km per charge
Or even worse, Luleรฅ.
Gotta succ to live 300k from the nearest town and you electric car only has 300km range when it's -35
Yeah
Have said this before, will say it again, and again. But EV for majority of the people only suited as a daily driver.
Commuting to/from work, groceries, normal daily stuff.
Yes :p
I'd love one, but they're like โฌ30.000 and I might be able to afford a โฌ3000 car if I take a loan X)
Even a cheap one is โฌ30,000
Ye
Nissan Leaf is one of the most sold ones. And that is close to โฌ40,000
And idk how they'll do with some mileage on them
Oo there's a leaf on blocket for 89.000kr
The i3 is ๐
One issue is just tires. And that it's pretty much just a car for city driving.
Ye or good roads
Has much shorter range than the Leaf, tho. But 200~220 km is enough for most.
Even if it's cut it half, it should be enough.
I do around 100 km each day. Going to/from work.
Oof that's quite far
I'd love an EV for the drive.
My 60km feels like way too much bother
Same here actually :p but if I do 120kph I get there in like half the time X)
That's illegal on the drive I do.
100 kph is the fastest limit on the E4 that I drive on.
You know. I'd be sort of tempted to get the Honda E.
If only we had charging capabilities where we live.
Meh I only drive on 80 and 100kph roads :p
Can't they rebate for you to have a charger pole installed?
BMW does that still I think
The wiring in the garage isn't suitable for EV charging.
And oh, no. I realized that I have to park nose-in with the Honda E, if I do end up getting that.

Our area is like 50 years old at this point.
You know what I love about the Honda E? Its turning radius.
Lager than 11.4m? :P
Lager. lul
The Honda e is probably the most fascinating EV without a Tesla badge. In fact it's probably more fascinating, because its design alone captured the attention and desire of legions of car enthusiasts who don't even bloody like electric cars.
This 137 mile range Pokemon faced ...
Around 9 minutes. If timestamp doesn't work.
Oof
This is just awesome
runs gaming PC of cars battery
oof

mirage?
TL;DW - It's a tough question. Since the testing facilities doesn't take into account a bunch of stuff.
And from what I could gather, the American testing is a bit flawed?
yeh i just watched it
and yes its flawed
very very flawed
scummy automakers like tesla take advantage of the system so they can advertise """the safest cars"""
I don't like how stiff the Tesla chassis are. But they are more or less forced to be that stiff.
So that unwanted damage to the battery cells doesn't occur during accidents.
@dense shard sorry i know its a whole 17 hours later or something im in europe
@civic spoke Well there are two entities crash testing, IIHS and NHTSA
Mhmm.
What
IIHS updates every few years
The small frontal offset screwed a lot of automakers
But they don't update the ratings for cars that fixed their flaws on that test.
Tesla's being stiff???
literally the whole front of the car is a crumple zone...
The battery pack is stiff, but that's a good thing because you don't want it to deform in a crash. Also keeps the cabin stiff which helps prevent intrusions, something you also don't want to happen in a crash
Also Tesla isn't taking advantage of anything. They are using the national system, along with many other international and private safety rating systems to advertise their safety
Only one of those is the NHTSA probability of injury rating which Tesla includes. No reason they shouldn't...
According to this guy, the NHTSA's tests are outdated.

Boys I made an oopsie
I used the wrong water trying to remove my tint, and it had a 50 50 bleach water mix
And my door panel is not happy

Rip
@drifting mantle yea that was linked like 15 posts above
Oh lol. I didn't scroll up. Literally all I read was your last 2 sentences x'D
He makes some good points
Testing a car against something its own weight just doesn't cut it when in America the most common car weights much more
In Europe that kind of test might be alright because we don't usually have giant pick up trucks etc
His main issue was that that format of testing means you can't really compare different cars safety and they aren't even representative of a car's actual safety irl if that makes sense
yea I agree with those points
I just don't think @indigo coral's assertion that Tesla is being scummy by including those results in their safety pages is valid
I have not heard of this, nor seen these new package cars.
I've seen a couple of white ones. Even some white tractors.
