I mean, thats true
but you probably shouldn't cook food in an oven after you used it to bake car parts
and you can get a cheap heatgun for like $20 and it will do the job
but that's just my two cents
too poor now after ordering LEDs
Maybe
I was thinking a hair drier would work.
@dense shard I'm in Poland
Anyone know what the best Blinker fluid is?
I'd recommend mobil1
Horseshoe Crab Blood works fine for me
I own a BMW, we don't use blinkers.
Alex Potter from Piper Sandler raises Tesla $TSLA PT to $729 after Q4 earnings.
"It's becoming clear, in our view, that #Tesla is on a path toward becoming the world's only relevant publicly listed auto maker."

Question: do you still need fluid for led blinkers?
Yes but they use way less
you only have to check them annually, unlike the incandescent versions
also make sure you get the synthetic, the conventional fluid will damage the LED cooler. Conventional is fine in incandescent systems, but the synthetic lasts longer and you can use it with LEDs too.
I quit using blinker fluid when I switched to LED's
The LED's I purchased had a big heatsink on them and required no extra cooling from any liquid
oh wow, where can i get those?
don't tell me i can get them at lttstore.com, can I?
but of course
i've seen the bb
oof
yes what do you think the lights are filled with to project the light
Most brands are using snake oil
i use elbow grease on mine
That's a popular pick as well
When I'm refilling my blinker fluid, I also replace the piston springs
oh yeah, ppl often forget about it, also every car i hear that have a rattle, these guys don't replace their exhaust bearings
I just pee into my blinkers
that's how it gets it's yellow tint then
Yep
Don't forget your piston return springs @jagged coyote
When I'm refilling my blinker fluid, I also replace the piston springs

I always replace my battery when I get fuel. It's important to keep your battery level up
Good idea, you don't want your car to have a flat battery while you're driving
Exactly
One more reason for me not to drive a fully electric car
If all the spots are taken and you HAVE to charge, you're SOL
It's a dick move to park there with a regular ICE car though
yea
In most places in 🇳🇱 it's not illegal to park an ICE car on an EV charging spot
Fully agree with you
(:
in my campus
when you buy a permit
you sign a thing saying if you park in the ev spot
it’s a $600 ticket
Oof sucks to be him
💸
Oof
worth more than a brand new Nissan
Should 100% be illegal for gas car to park in EV spot though
at the very least a ticket, probably a tow. EVs would get towed in a heartbeat if the parked in front of a gas pump and left
yep
When changing my blinker fluid I always make sure to change crankshaft coolant also
you mean the tail light coolant
That crankshaft spins so fast it generates heat and must stay cool
I always make sure to top off the carpet oil also
Grease your brakes
Protects against rust
Make sure to use the finest bearing greese for the brakes
Otherwise you could end up with premature brake fade and wear
Make sure to loosen the rod caps to reduce friction and increase fuel efficiency
if you take off your doors you'll save weight- wait Jeeps do that antwaysn
Anyways*
Make sure to replace your soft top once a year to keep the car running smooth
On a more serious note, it's a shame it rains so damn much here otherwise I could get a RWD G70
I already get floaty on the highway sometimes in my rx
A rwd sedan would be far worse
It's fun to take the third gen Camaro and pull handbrake turns through the 10,000 roundabouts around me
Ew or cool?
Ah
front splitter
Nice
Why do people install exhausts on their cars?
because it sounds cool
sometimes
All you have to do is cut off the catalytic converters and run it open headers
Lol.
oof
That's flagrantly illegal in most places
not in florida :)
Particularly places with emissions testing
Thank God I don't have emissions here
My car would fail
I can't believe you had to explain why loud cars sound cool to a drag racer
Leaky exhaust big rip
There be no laws here about car mods!
Indiana doesn't care if you stick a stack out of the hood and roll coal
Indiana is redneck
I live in Washington, the land of restrictive driving laws and low speed limits
Our reckless driving threshold is....1 mph over
Cops can (and sometimes do) give reckless charges for 51 in a 50
Only when they're being super an*l about things or having a bad day
here*
unlucky
Despite me doing the f*ckin speed limit
The police don't give a shit if you do 15 over on the highway
i was on a side road
They'll pull for 3 over on highway pretty routinely
unlucky
They do care if you do 15 over in a 30 zone
mine was a 65 zone
- we have ridiculously low highway speeds
yea
I always do 3-5 over on the highway
Most highway = 60mph, some are 50
Few of the ones in other parts of the state get to 70 but those are far away
i do 80 here; limit is 70
The highways here are 70
I5 is 60 through where I live
I normally do 72-75
oof
I tend to do 62ish in a 60
i95 is fun
The highway around Indy is 55 though
But everyone does 70+ and the cops don't care
Cops are just super strict here I guess
yea
I'm surprised I've not been pulled over yet for my headlights
Occasionally they do care and set up a giant speed trap to catch 10+ people at a time
what’s up with those?
Aftermarket LEDs, which are illegal here
i have HID on my subaru
and idk what’s on the prius
ik it’s LED but idk how bright
Mine are f*cking bright
And they were aimed poorly for quite a time
So oncoming drivers would flash their high beams at me
I checked the 0-70 time for my work truck.
About the same as mine 😛
And that's kmh, btw.
With a full load I can't get to 60 if I stomp on it
Because it's so damn powerful it spins and does a burnout
My work truck doesn't do 60 mph. Unless it's downhill.
You know what's scary?
Seeing a light turn yellow, you press the brake, and just hear the ABS starting to work.
I didn't want to, but I had to blow that light.
It's even more fun when you start to brake for a corner and starting to skid towards the ditch.
I know that feel of "welp, guess I gotta run this cause I can't stop" feeling quite well
I did the poke test. Did I do it right?
figured i'd share this here if anyone cares
Footage from my most recent track day at putnam park https://iu.box.com/v/cmbmiataplay
chasing down that miata with ease - can post more info if anyone is interested - just @ me
thanks @unkempt shell
my 2003 r53 mini s, basic bolt ons with the main upgrades being suspension and brakes
and r888rs :p
@thin heath you being a mini owner, what's your opinion on the larger size of the newer minis compared to a 1960 mini
dunno if you know much ab these cars
15% sc pulley, cooling stuff, 4-2-1 header, lots of suspension stuff with brake calipers from a r56
running g-loc r10/28 f/r with motul rbf 660
lul anything after the r53 is fat and bloated
i'm in a mini group on fb that roasts newer minis, lemme find their banner photo for ya
lul
omg, yes
they're all whales
they really are
the r53 (02-06) did a good job of keeping the lines from the original cars
anything after overcompensated with cabin space or massive trim pieces
my r53
got those og ronal turbos to hide my poor man's bbk lol
i've run rings around porsches on track
damn, very impressive
loads of fun - i'm a huge advocate for people actually driving their cars tbh
where i live you see a few leyland minis getting around
had it stanced out on rare wheels for a while, but eventually after all the parts and the mileage it made more sense to drive it hard than show it off
never looking back lol
i agree with actually driving the cars than for looks
especially when it's a 2003 mini with 0 resale value lol
running on 190xxx miles now, and i have a spare short block waiting for when she blows lol
thats unlucky
more footy from putnam lol
is what it is, i've done enough maintenance now that the bottom end is really all that could go
and i'm prepared >.<
im watching the first vid and seeing that 86 reminds me of a video
A huge crash for John Iafolla in the No.8 at Sandown.
It was crazy
Going to the bathurst 12 hour on sunday
only really had one scare like that
boiled my brake fluid smh https://iu.box.com/v/cmb-did-an-oopsie
and that would be quite a way to go ^
exactlyyyyyy
at both putnam and gingerman there are really only 2 turns that are dangerous tho if you go off track
Geez, gotta love it when your brakes dont work
honestly
after paying $80 for race brake fluid the last thing i expected was for the pedal to go spongy
but thats what $600 in pads gets you i guess lol
like i said, running R10 front and R8 rear https://www.greeneperformance.com/collections/braking
R10™️ broad temperature range and fade resistance is in excess of 1475°F (186°F /85°C – 801°C).
You would expect your brakes to work like, 😐 , bruh
imagine my reaction lol
that's a shit your pants moment
definitely going with rbf 660 this time around
which like rbf660 isn't that much better on paper than rbf600
but i like working brakes lol
if they still boil the rbf660 this time around i'll move to brake cooling mods like ducts
Fair enough, I wouldn't want my brakes not working either
Welp
I like my cars to look clean, mostly stock with very little modification; and to sound good. And then I just go drive around
also, reeeeeee its snowing
the city better not panic and salt the roads
cause the forecast says its not gonna get below freezing
How are they then gonna get to church 🤔
salted roads = rip RX7 @civic girder
I had to wash my car a thousand times underneath after doing through salted roads
Because rust
I'd rather give the bottom a protective coating of some sort
Salted roads =
rip old Japanese cars
Yea
the RX-7 has an undercoat, but the areas up by the front wheels is peeling up because there were no mudflaps
so that area has already started to rust a bit
I want to get the rust repaired and the entire car's rust proofing updated.
And then get some mudflaps to install up front to prevent it from happening again. I think adding front mudflaps would also help make it look better as it looks kinda weird with just rear mudflaps
@civic girder https://youtu.be/n4vusY2-rkQ
Rust removal and repair. Repairing rust on your car is something that should be done quickly to prevent it from spreading. It can be easily done without welding, by using strong but inexpensive body filler. You can even paint the car yourself. Rust repair is common at the whe...
Well, idk if that method is going to work
I've used Bondo and wire mesh to fix rust many times
That rust isn't bad at all
Yea, not really. But I would like to get it repaired before it gets worse
Use rust stopper and fill it with Bondo and paint it
I'd probably start by getting out a wire wheel and peeling up the undercoat and clear up some of the rust
see if it's just surface, or if its deeper
Its the undercoat the previous owner got back in the 80s
(he was the original owner)
Damn, I hope he didn't get the Ziebart undercoating
oh really?
Yes
I was considering getting it touched up by Ziebart
but idk where else I'd go as they seem to be the only place around here
In this video we have a look at a Chevrolet Silverado that has had the Ziebart undercoating sprayed on it every year since it was new. In our experience here in the salt belt this type of rubberized undercoating WILL DESTROY your vehicle. Unfortunately this vehicle will not m...
ah, South Main Auto, great channel
Yep
that's apparently what my car has
they salt the roads like once a year at most
sadly they are dead, or I'd go have them update the rustproofing
Usually they don't even salt, they've got the liquid/sand mix instead of salt
oh, there is a Krown place around here I guess
well, I guess I'll have to call them up instead of Ziebart
@fathom socket there is a Krown about an hour north of me. I suppose go there instead? Or maybe attempt it myself (though I have no lift)?
Never heard of Krown
South Main Auto mentions it
Read reviews for different places
there's not many places around here
from what I can find, there's Ziebart and Krown, and then I think most shops will use off the shelf spray stuff
You could always get Line-X
Line-X?
There is apparently a Line-X close to me
Or just move somewhere where an undercoating isn't necessary
Except I kinda like Ohio
oof
so I'm just gonna have to suck it up and rust proof my cars
I kinda like Indiana
https://www.gokrown.com/car-rust-protection/
this is Krown, btw
Washington is nice but our car tabs are really high and driving laws are strict
yeah that's terrible.
Oi, if you have a 1998-2002 Accord 2.3L, and you have both the codes P0505 and P1129, along with exhaust smell when you are taking in fresh air, then replace the EGR valve gasket, and make sure both nuts are holding it tight on.
One of the nuts was missing on mine, cause it decided to off itself and go into the same dimension that pens go when they fall off tables.
Damn shift solenoids won't let it shift out of 2nd
Oof
Shift solenoids are cheap fix no? Or are they $$$?
Have to drop the pan and take out the valve body
so a pain in the ass but not that bad?
And, the torque converter is throwing codes too
ah
It just randomly decided to let go
mine won't shift into second sometimes but I think that's just the rtared ECU
He was just driving through the neighborhood

Atlanta traffic once again wrecked me.
Rip
GPS led me through some crazy places.
ah
i own a saab, love me
y tho
because i am lonely
I'd get kicked out of a C&C if I tried to show my car 😂😂😂😂😂
When we go I'll take my mom's explorer instead of mine so we don't get forcefully removed from the premises
They won't remove you.
I want to make all the old men that own saabs angry

Got it a while ago and the link since died

EV Hummer coming Fall 2021 FTW
What
EV's are basically cheating when it comes to specifications.
I guess that will become their fastest car yet.
i was always a fan of hummers, so glad to see something coming back
plus the idea of EVs always intrigued me
I'd love to own and drive an EV.
But not possible unless we get some kind of charging network done with our street.
i have the plug-in hybrid Ford Fusion, its such a tease
So that we can charge in the garage or something.
charging is a big hinderance for me as well
thankfully my office has a couple outlets with L2 charger compatibility
That makes EV for daily use feasible.
aside from not having to go to the gas station very often (which is the most boring thing a person will do in their lifetime), the quietness is very relaxing as well
I charge my car with RAW FUEL
i do miss my F150 greatly
I used an F150 as my mirror to see my reverse lights
mmmm
Am getting excited for my LEDs
Will finally have turn signals people can see
At least I only really have to fuel up my car once every week or so.
I want a Grom but I can't lanesplit in my state
So kinda useless for me to commute with due to all the traffic I see
I also want a Grom. But it pinned at max throttle for my daily commute.
The sensible option would be something like a SV650.
I bet it does what Tesla did with their Roadster specs.
Torque at the wheels, and not the motor.
They're adding the total power of their motors?
By and large I find that EV torque ratings are like truck tow ratings from 20 years ago.
"Yes we can do this... provided you strip the truck down to a frame, measure stuff in this specific moment, oh and we've also heavily modified it."
Or you mean like advertising that they do still to this day?
This truck can tow a jet.
Oh, this reminded me of the thing Volvo did.
I saw an old Honda Accord towing a huge RV up a big hill
Was one of the saddest things I've ever seen
How much can a single, series-produced truck haul? A Volvo FH16 featuring I-Shift with crawler gears faces one of the toughest challenges in the history of Volvo Trucks. With the world’s strongest man, Magnus Samuelsson, and trucking journalist Brian Weatherley in the drive...
Meme
I'd rather get a Honda Monkey
Always loved the Grom, but since the Monkey came out...
Claims of towing today have been standardized.
I think all the truck makers follow these new tests.
lmaoooo
Hell yeah
xD
Took the 7 to the carwash today
naise
does this count as a car in this channel lol http://prntscr.com/qwlzmh
it's a v8 in it
@civic girder I heard you like rotaries

I'm already doing like 3 things at once
Homework, chatting with friends, and watching anime
dear god
Embracing the future starts with letting go of the past. Join Maisie Williams singing Disney’s ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen, and Audi as we drive to a more sustainable tomorrow in an all-new Audi e-tron Sportback. The only thing you might not be able to let go of, is the son...
A sportback EV... what people crave... what the planet craves.
I mean EVs don't have to be stupid and boring
That's literally the entire point of Tesla
And yet the Model X exists.
At least the Y is soon.
Which should be everything we crave out of Tesla... including, finally, good build quality.
small crossovers are the best
They don't handle much worse than sedans for 99% of situations
But have way more people/cargo room
Efficiency suffers unfortunately
that's how it be
damn hydrogen owners getting fucked rn
This is why you don't buy a car that requires a fuel source where the infrastructure for such a fuel is nonexistent
Instead, you stay Prius.
Electric isnt bad tbh, just drive up to McDonalds, plug in, and get a few miles extra... xD
Hydrogen cars are no where near practical yet in today's standard, its already a push for electric. Which is why people buy hybrids for a reliable combo
It was a fun experiment when we thought hydrogen might be the future
then we realized Hydrogen was a dumb idea
And Toyota decided it was a great idea to introduce a new generation of Mirai in a world without hydrogen
Lol
What car is that even
2.4L ttv12 70psi top speed 218mph 0-60 in.. idk light speed or something, beamng is wonderful.
It's their Subaru I think, there's no way a Prius could get that small of mpg
That does look like a Subaru dashboard
And 6.9 US mpg converts to 2.93 km per liter
wtf
is that what a scooby looks like now?
yea i don't like it
grew up with my dad owning a 2003 impreza wrx sti
can't change subaru from that late 90s early 00s era in my eyes
Hydrogen remains exotic tech.
Buying it with the expectation of convenience is like buying an EV with the expectation you never need to actually charge it.
It's like the people who buy an EV and think they can just pop down to the local gas station and... oh wait shit you can't do that. They need this thing called electricity.
or
People who buy a Jeep thinking it's a decent road car. 😂
I'm talking about the Wrangler.
It's a Jeep thing, you don't understand
Oh I understand.

Which is why I don't own a Jeep.
Sarcasm, my dude
With Jeeps and Jeep fans... hard to tell. sorry
I'm not
It's the stereotypical thing for Jeep fanatics to say
yep
speaking of fanatics.
I bet everyone who bought a Gladiator last year is feeling dumb.
Apparently you can get em at a steep discount right now.
oof
Ah well, I bet he's doing fine financially so Jeep Gladiator depreciation isn't his concern xD
Honestly... even Jeep fans can't justify the price these days.
30k for a soft top truck without AC.
Is the Gladiator the pickup one
Idk it's one of the last cars you can truly take off-road, the only convertible truck
Yes, the Gladiator is the pickup Wrangler
Being the only one in a field doesn't negate the fact it can be overpriced.
Fact remains that the new Jeep isn't a huge upgrade over the last generation, and yet it went up in price quite dramatically.
I'm not saying they aren't overpriced, but I can see why you'd want one
It does look cool imho
Though it's not something I'd buy personally
The Miata is also pushing it... but it's not obviously overpriced.
The Miata is worth it imo
The Miata is hands down the best driver's car of today
Until Mazda makes another rotary sports car
then the Miata will be old news
So it will be 75568k here
Good to know
🤔 I can't seem to be able to configure a 2020 MX-5 in 🇳🇱, only in stock 2019 models 🤔
At least
Mazda is slow on releasing new models
Ah, nice
eh, the FD (adjusted for inflation) was only $56k ($32k 1993 dollars). That's not bad for what you got. I can see a new rotary sports car being over $50k, but the Miata exists at sub $30k prices. If they made a slower rotary sports car, like the na FC and the FB, they could probably keep prices below $40k. Now, if they made it a speed demon like the FD was, $50k+ makes perfect sense.
I mean, hell, a brand new FB (adjusted for inflation) costs $30k in 2020 money. A sub 200hp rotary sports car built on a similar platform to the Miata, sharing Miata parts (such as suspension and brakes), could definitely be relatively cheap.
A lot of it would depend on if they go turbo or not.
if its turbo, it'll be making some power, and it won't be cheap
but if they go true to the RX-7's roots and keep it na, it'll be cheap
Not Miata cheap, ofc, but still a good price
Time for drifting
We got 3" of snow in an hour or so, traction control induced epilepsy intensifies
We have, but they've been in like January through march lol
Plus i found the 2nd most cozy car sound, the muffled ignition sounds from a diesle engine when driving like 45mph at night in the snow
That's an ASMR video idea right there
Nice lol
I have the same with the sound my grandma's Honda makes at 100 km/h
It's like a sewing machine with a very quiet whistling sound to it
You have the 1.3 or 1.9?
1.9
It sounds kinda like thunder rolling past on a really warm and humid summers night
Yeah :p
The best sound gotta be when you're sitting in the garden and hearing the car tick itself cool on warm summer days
Mmmmmm
Goes off and starts an ASMR car YouTube channel
If you're a hot chick then you will definitely be successful
Like the supercar blond? Or what's she called
No I mean the ASMR community in general
Like the supercar blond? Or what's she called
🤢
What is she called tho? I double as he calls herself the supercar bimbo
Depends, gotta find the right channels
She's one of very few female autotubers out there.
Doesn't mean her content is good
don't be sexist
Doesn't mean it's bad.
Who's sexist? 🤔
Looking at her channel...
It ain't for me. But I'm not a huge fan of watching super car vids.

There are plenty of reviews he does where he doesn't drive the car.
wat
He drives every car, you can see it in the video
At least the ones I click on.
Whot
besides the Enzo, which one?
Vector, Saleen S7...
I don't remember seeing.
That is news to me.
He did explain that in the end of the Vector video
yeah the only two I can think of that he didn't have a driving portion was the Enzo and the Saleen

Because it was already nearly 40 minutes long

meh, I enjoy him
his content isnt sage purchasing advice, given by people with doctorates in carology
its funny
At 30 minutes, I start questioning if I shouldn't be doing something useful.
well I enjoy it.
RCR is vastly funnier imo.
I also like hoovie's videos
Hoovie
I like the culture and history lessons RCR does frequently.
I despise fuckin scotty kilmer
he's such a forkin crackpot
i blocked him from my yt feed
I blocked Scotty too
I haven't, but he doesn't come up on my list.
He did once, and then stayed there
Blegh Scotty
Agreed
DO NOT BUY
So are you poor now?
always been
Damn he was right
It really depends on the overall condition and service history of the car most of the time
Yeah
hm
My gfs 320i has cost her $30 in repairs over the past 2 years
Such a moneypit
my 325is costed me money yes
My Punto Grande has cost me $2000 in repairs and tyres over the past year
Thermostat, oil change, breakfluid and coolant $800
Discs and pads front and rear $200
Tyres and hubcaps $500
Calipers rear $125
And Ive forgotten the rest
But it's close to $2k
I never do :p not winter tyres
My gfs 320i had like a set of disks and pads, hand break and a camshaft position sensor swapped
Nor do I skip on break parts either, OEM all the way
Yeah
I want to upgrade my brakes cause I have 260mm x 22mm rotors currently up front lmao
I think had I bought OEM quality disks and pads locally they'd set me back $150 front pads, $200 disks and $140 for rear disks and pads
Calipers are like $150/pcs
At least you shouldn't have to replace them often lol
bet
Yeah :p
I've still gotta swap the front control am bushings, rear shocks and rear wheel bearings
How many KMs has it done
273.000
Yeah then it's understandable
Yeah I'm not surprised about it :p plus it's like $150 all in and I can do it myself
Nice
Parts from the continent are like half or 1/3rd the price compared to here lol
anyone here going to the Atlantic City GPK this Thursday??
I'm never to old for this right lol ?
Me too lol
and I still have a pile of hotwheels somewhere
I'm 26 and still play with Lego's
depending on how you define "play", I do as well
I have a pristine collection of the 99 cent Hot Wheels cars from Target
nice
They are really well built for the price
Pretty much all the hotwheels I have ever seen have been of good build
My girlfriend calls me a 6 year old sometimes
Though some of the special plastic body ones didn't exactly hold up real well to the amount of abuse I used to give them as a small child
With the Legos and the Hot Wheels

I have a bunch of Legos, a bunch of Hotwheels, and a bunch of legacy PC components
I have many hobbies, apparently
Legos, PCs, and now cars
(I wouldn't really say hotwheels are a thing I care about anymore)
Bough some legos recently.
Most recent Legos I bought was the Saturn V rocket
The 2017 Ford GT is my new car I got for Christmas and I added to my collection :)
Strange though it has real glass windows and windshield
It's cold when you touch it so it's definitely not plastic lol
I have a helicopter lego builder thing set.
And a F1 car thing.
I may or may not make helicopter noises when no one is watching.
I've got random lego things scattered around. I've got space ships perched on top of my PC, cars littered on my desk, space ships on my other PCs, Bionicles on my bookshelf, and the Saturn V rocket (plus a couple of architecture buildings) on my dresser.
oh there's actually a submarine and an airplane on one of my PCs, lol
and there's more stuff I could place, if I had space
my dads been collecting hotwheels cars lately, he has almost all the 5 packs from last year only getting them when the're on sale lol
Trying to make this engine fit
repost when she runs
going places lol
That's completely decoupled from reality.
this is elon’s reality now
Don't get me wrong I like Tesla and wamr them to succeed but 140bln is insanely overpriced valuation
Yeah I get where you're coming from, it's pretty overpriced.
From a financial perspective their share price is being driven solely based off hype and future expectations
Which is concerning
didn’t they tank when the cybertruck was revealed?
Maybe a couple % but nothing consequential
Low-key wish I'd bought some when I was considering it
Was considering it at 260$ 🤦
tesla are very careless because elon is very careless so it’s high risk high reward with how much hype and mainstream media tesla gets
being the “founding frontier” to electronic autonomous car technology
however you can't always stay at the founding frontier
a company will always have a period where they are not the leader in somerhing
@loud gorge maybe this seems fine at the moment just need to make some engine mounts it’s hard to get it to fit over the power steering rack
@velvet mirage well lucky for you, you have space in your bay, unlike my 4th gen camero
@loud gorge well it didn't i have cut out all the panels for the rad support, it only ever came with v6 v4 and i4 engines so had to make more room its a 72 ford capri
you can see where it was where the grey primer is
Why is the water pump pulley soo big?
its so if it has a fan its close to the rad will prob get a shorter pump
will run two electric fans anyway
I haven’t messed with mine yet bc my car is a wip, but my dads 4th gen with a ls1 turbo swap, has a small rad with dual durall fans
Only reason is for an inter cooler
ahh nice im aiming for around 300 bhp on this one not sure im even going to stick with this exact engine as i want ally heads and that anyway to get the weight down at the front and for the power so might buy a boss create from ford
Coyote boss, or classic?
Windsor still
cant fit over head cam and keep brake booster has to be a 302 even a taller deck wont fit and no still a 4 barrel, boss block is just stronger has 4 bolt mains and stuff
yeh push rod engines are much smaller
You gonna put a Holley efi on that thing?
have a carb that came with that engine but do really want ITB really with injection but thats not cheap
Yea
Your gonna love stock carbs till you get on a hill
But I must admit Ford pushrods sound moi perfecto
its extra expensive to get this stuff as we never had the ford v8s here so have to import everything with a bunch of tax on it to the uk,
the capri was like our mustang here but we just had 3L v6 Essex engines
Yea I honestly feel you brother, but it’s the same way for us with cosworth, and any I-6 that can hold its own
yeh anything with a cosworth in it has gotten expensive the price of mk1 escorts is crazy i would have got one but wanted a v8 in something and it wont fit in that lmao
sounds from ITB with injection is better imo
not even with old school hilborn injection
Even with ITBs or metal intake piping, the noise you end up with just isn't the same
Especially at the exhaust
well i have a 650 holly 4 barrel at the moment anyway lmao
Nice
I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade my carb yet or not. I'm satisfied with the car's performance. Main noise complaint rn is exhaust
If I do upgrade, I'd either get a Holley 4 barrel or a Weber downdraft
i am also going to have to change the back axle on mine to take the power the current one would explode with a v8 so got years before it will be done lmao
@civic girder you mean a procharger, those make the bigg succccc
Am I weird for owning three Chevy Suburbans?
yes
But why
I like them

Probably the 508 and 3008/5008 then, I assume
Hybrid4 drivetrain, PHEV with 35 miles of range and 300hp
Or maybe the small e-208
I don't think Peugeot is going to sell Opels
No (?)
I swear they're being Google with the PC client updates.
Ah yes their lastest update is absolutely horrible
that was 30 years ago
when Korean cars weren't good yet
but the thing is
Peugeot hasn't really ever been that great
Current cars are quite good
ah, we're throwing shade at people in the RX-7 discord
🤔
its a running joke
Arne lives in europe and his car looked clean when he bought it
but in reality, previous owners just welded some shitty metal over the rust areas to cover it up
RIP
I think he's stripped the whole car and fixed all the rust
but he is also making upgrades and mods as he puts it back together, so it won't be driving for a while yet
Looks like my friend's old FB
It did not die in vain though, someone bought it for parts for a mint FB that was sitting in a garage for 20+ years
damn
I saw this and almost died laughing
If the EU bans the sale of petrol and diesels, will that stay a permanent ban or would they make exceptions or remove the ban after some time?
^^
@fathom socket yes pfp
I don't think its gonna work out very well
even in Europe, EV infrastructure is still virtually nonexistent
You can't just up and ban ICE sales overnight
If they gradually force ICE sales to decline over time while they build up infrastructure and give manufacturers time to develop new EV models it could work
"You're thinking in problems, not solutions" ~ EU, shoving there problems in to the laps of their citizens
yea, no one seems to understand that we can't just wake up one morning and magically all have EV infrastructure, tons of cheap EVs to choose from, and long range super ultra fast charging batteries
The only way I can see this not being a shitshow is if they do something like this:
-All current ICE vehicles are grandfathered in and not banned.
-ICE sales are forced to decline, likely through some sort of sales cap; i.e. companies in the EU can only sell 'x' number of ICE cars per year (hybrids could have a larger sales cap over traditional ICEs)
-EVERY country in the EU heavily begins to invest in charging infrastructure in public places (parks, government buildings, etc) and strongly encourage businesses to setup charging infrastructure as well
-Commercial vehicles are still allowed to be sold with ICE. Maybe begin a push towards hybrids.
This would give people an incentive to buy hybrids and EVs, and would force manufacturers to develop broader ranges of EV models and find ways to get cheaper models on the market (ideally, range of current mid-range EVs, but at the prices of cars like Corollas and Civics).
Nah, the best solution is:
- More tax on ICE cars
Upsides:
- More revenue for the government since people still have to buy ICE since EVs are still unaffordable
And that's it. Works like a charm
That's what we have here already
I still feel like that's a shitty way of forcing people into electric cars
though I do think my plan could use some small increases in tax on ICE to help fund charging infrastructure
Well I've already explained our taxes on ICE cars, it's already high enough imho xD
Besides the 21% VAT, an emissions tax which is even for a 1.0 TSI Polo €4k
And yes, our insurance is a scam too
Gotta love it
really makes me glad I live in the land of "what are emissions, lol"
At least weed is legal in my country, so it's something xD
eh, I couldn't possibly care less
Weed is shit that'll kill you
I haven't had a drop of alcohol in my life, and I'm old enough to get drunk legally
you really think I'd go out and randomly start smoking weed if it got legalized here?
I don't and it's legal here 😉
exactly
Weed isn't legal in my state, but people smoke it all the time
I call it the devils lettuce
but I remember we had some weed bois in highschool
Iirc, the reason why they legalized it is to be able to regulate it, make sure you can buy stuff that's checked, safe etc, vs street bought of which the origin unknown is
Yep
iirc Colorado's reason was to boost the economy
don't quote me tho, I never fucking pay attention to the news, lmao
that's called "realizing you have a problem, and not doing anything about it"
We're good at that
small tax on ICE to fund charging infrastructure
Why not tax EVs to fund their own infrastructure expansion?
I want my gas tax to go towards bridge and road upkeep.
Unfair
Tax charging rates by kilowatt/hour.
We charge by unit of fuel, charge by unit of energy. Almost the same thing.
Our tax system is unfair
how much would y'all reccomend selling an 09 ford fusion plus for?
its got 65k miles
I'd check KBB
1 kwh is very different than 1 gallon of gas tho
You can input all the options it has, and go from there.
Having the same tax on each would be fucking absurdly expensive
You don't have to tax a kwh the same as a gallon.
My point is to charge per unit of energy.
We could change over to just flat out charging by kwh regardless of fuel source meaning we could charge all alternative fuels equally.
I think there needs to not be a charge at first while people transition
Then charge
most people charge their cars at home though, are you suggesting to add a tax to all residential power costs?
Not all residential power, but have 2 meters
One for the house, one for the chargers
Road tax on the charger, normal tax that already exists on the house
Road tax is pretty important, it makes up a good chunk of funding for infrastructure maintenance
It also goes into my bank account during the summer because I work for the local municipality as a summer job
I'm sure something can be worked out. It's that or assess a flat fee per year for EV drivers.
Which a few states have started doing.
seems like it would lower the amount of people who would get EVs.
the price to get a second meter and breaker box for the meter, and then getting the charger and having it all wired is not cheap
like the charger + wiring is $500-$1000 already, and that's with all the electrical work already done for a breaker box and proper wiring from the meter.
You don't need a second meter installed.
You can install some hardware to measure energy usage at the charger.
Tesla fans are already fine with data harvesting, and I don't see this being a huge issue.
Make it optional.
People can either pay extra per year for registration, mileage based, or charge based.
EV owners will stay pay less than the average ICE whatever... especially with America's crossover/SUV fetish.
I think a second circuit in a residential setup is horrific overkill in which people would bypass by just charging their cars on 240V or just using a 120V outlet. Fuck paying thousands extra so the state can track me. Any payment scheme should be cheap and convenient to implement.
IoT chargers would be enough.
"You can install some hardware to measure energy usage at the charger"
This is what meters do...
but this still wouldn't be cheap, would have to come from the utility company and would need to be integrated like existing meters.
Nah. let chargers integrate it into an app or something.
They can track energy usage via app.
Link app to whatever system is used to track usage.
So ideally you won't even have to use new hardware... or better yet let the car self report it's charge rate. So you won't be charged for the energy used rather the energy taken on. Mind you I imagine chargers are hellishly efficient.
hmm, yea that could work
I don't think most chargers have that functionality, but I know that Tesla's new wall chargers have internet functionality now, so maybe they could do that.
chargers are decently efficient but it's still a noticeable loss
factor that in
weight it in favor of the ev owner, say you average out a 5% loss (hypothetical number), can easily weight that out of the tax burden given from the use of Kwh
yea it can obv be accounted for. Could even just measure the amount of energy pulled by charger, thereby including inefficiencies.
Seems like Tesla's are around 90% efficient @ 8kw
