There's an exhaust leak that only happens when you're loading the engine
going from a stop/up hill/etc
floor rattling might be a bad hanger and the exhaust is hitting the floor when the engine shifts under load
the leak when loading the engine could be loose bolts or a bad gasket at one of the joints
that's probably just a small hole
can rev the piss out of it in neutral/park and it doesn't make the noise
can hear it in the cabin quite audibly

So I followed the service manual, and adjusted the IAC valve screw.
Didn't change anything at all.
So I'm stumped for now.
(Video is me covering the IAC valve intake. Service manual says if the idle drops, to adjust the screw. Adjusting didn't do anything)
(Idle before cover the hole is bouncing from ~1100-1300. After covering the hole, it's about 860. Regular idle is 750.)

When I first got the RX-7, the brake pedal was super stiff
and it would pulsate very rapidly when you did anything more than slight braking
now that all the brake parts are functional and the system is bled, the pedal is pretty soft, but stiffens up when you give it lots of brake
no more pulsate
and the pedal is hella stiff when the engine is off
my car shakes like a sonofabitch when youre slowing down because of warped rotors that I've not gotten around to fixing

bad wheel bearings will usually produce a scrape and scratch noise at the wheel. Can cause the wheel to shake and vibrate as well

if they cause a fire, that's cause you didn't replace them when they started to go and just kept driving and driving until the bearing desintegrated
When I got it, the steering wheel shake was so bad it was frankly ridiculous
when I took it to the tire shop for a 4 wheel balancing, they actually remarked (and jokingly congratulated me) that I had the most out-of-balance wheel they've ever balanced

Got it aligned due to super uneven tire wear, then a few weeks later got the fronts balanced again. Still shakes a little bit at 65-70 but its a LOT better.

and the auto was available in 4 or 6-speed variants
The trans in the auto models were literal Ford trannies, and they weren't even retuned for a sports car.
So all the automatic RX-8s are pure trash, especially since the redline is like 5k. Which the Renesis can rev to 8k all day long ezpz
Though, if you want a slightly less trash auto RX-8, then you get one of the later year ones. The early auto models came with 4 port motors (130hp vs the 200 something of the 6 port). The later models all shipped with the 6 port motors, even the auto and shitspec ones
It should also be noted that Mazda wanted the RX-8 to only come in manual. The only reason RX-8s could even come in auto was because Ford still had enough shares in Mazda to tell them what to do.
If you want to go for an Rx8, then go for the R3 model. And be ready to redline that bitch every day, she's gonna love you. Also its not a car for short drives. Easy to fuck the engine. But the sound.... ah the sound...

I read lots of conflicting opinions on how to "maintain" the transmission in my RX
It's good to know that I have a tranny that will never let go
Mine will eventually, but hopefully that time is a long way in the future

You can tune out turbo lag, but often times you have low boost and minimal power gains
if you want to succ power out of a turbo, it's gonna lag like a bitch

if the motor feels like it torqueing then motor mounts if the vibration goes away your harmonic dampener is probably the culprit .

probably could be or at least sealed but trying to get a headlight fixture out is like rip the front end of the car off.

And no it goes away as soon as I shift it into drive/reverse
no sit in park and step on the gas (don't floor it). if the engine torques and you can noticeable feel it it will be the engine mounts going bad. otherwise its just harmonic dampener.
the harmonic dampener is what keeps the engine from shacking itself apart.
though if you want like a 10-15hp increase and have the engine tuned fairly well you can remove it.
The car wobbles just a tiny bit but like moving my ass makes it wobble the same amount
The vibration isn't appreciably different
Turning on the defroster makes it worse, weirdly.
more drag on the motor. its the dampener. don't worry about it.
but it's primarily just in the steering wheel and can barely feel it otherwise
though if you do remove the dampener expect a lot more shaking.
@indigo coral The harmonic balancer is another word for crank pulley, it had holes drilled in it to balance out the crank

I used a heatgun on my tail lights to break the seal
and then used a silicon adhesive to reseal them
though I now noticed that I didn't use enough stuff on them, so they condensate a little bit. However, it does not affect the lights or anything and you can still clearly see through the lens
yea it's just a bit of vibration when it's colder
was just making sure cause I know motor mounts are a common wear item
what you could try.
Running a hair drier through the light sockets.
Just remove the bulbs, and run some dry air through the assembly.
That might work. Then you don't have to take it apart.
