My RX-7 lacks power steering in any form. Doesn't even have rack and pinion steering either. Hands down the best steering rack I've ever felt

Yea. On my RX-7, the steering will lock if the key is removed or turned to off. But it will also only lock when you attempt to move the wheel
And prevent the airbags from inflating

I'll plan to do plugs again at 175k, then tb and stuff at 200k
The only things I knew were done to the RX-7 when I bought it was the stuff the actual mechanic who did them told me
Fuel pump, fuel filler neck, fuel filler cap, carb rebuild, fuel filter, and cleaned/sealed gas tank
nothing else was touched
lexus service guide says plugs every 50k, but the car is getting old
so prob do it a bit more frequiently
next time will be far easier than last time
I think the RX-7 manual says spark plugs every 30k, lmao
Oh yea, I think the Prius will also be easier to change next time. If there is a next time on this motor

It might sound stupid to sit and wait for the engine to kick on in a hybrid, but I do
and then I'll let it warm up for a minute or two before driving off

I get soooooooo annoyed when I have a customer who changed the oil every 20,000 miles and got upset when the engine blew up

My friend's dad's 89 Vic, the driver's side door handle got unhooked from the mechanism on the outside
so you had to open the driver's door from either the back, or the passenger side (on the inside)
the latch works fine, its just the thing that provides resistance (and pulls the handle back) when you pull on it

The VXR/OPC didn't use a 2.4 (Turbo), a 2.4 wouldn't fit. The VXR/OPC did use a 2.0 Turbo (241hp)
Other engines you could get in the Astra:
- 1.4 (Z14XEP) 90hp
- 1.6 (Z16XEP/Z16XER) 105/115hp
- 1.8 non-VTT (Z18XE) 125hp
- 1.8 VVT (Z18XER) 140hp
- 1.6 Turbo (Z16LET) 180hp
- 2.0 Turbo (Z20LEL/Z20LER/Z20LEH) 170/200/241hp (241 == OPC/VXR)
- 1.3/1.7/1.9 CDTi (diesels) ranging from 90hp up to 150hp
Also the 2.4 is a US GM engine, and has never been used in any Opel/Vauxhall model (and since the Saturn is just a rebrand... xD)

He actually buys the cars from the factory without warranty, and then "provides" the warranty himself. Which is basically 0 warranty.

Sometime soon I may go to a rust repair shop and see how bad the RX-7 is. There's a couple spots up front where there's some rust, driver's side looks worse. Then once that's fixed I want to get a fresh undercoat
Well, this rust is just on the underside. I'll take pics when I go back outside. It's literally like the only rust area on the whole undercarriage
And that's only because its the only area where rocks and debris from the wheels actually hit the car
So it did eventually tear up the undercaot

The only other rust I have seen is surface rust where paint got chipped up, and rusty af bolts

The garage did that once on my grandma's Honda Jazz, half a year later when we drove to Germany it gave a low oil pressure warning
Turned out there was a tiny hole in the filter housing from overtightening it so the oil slowly leaked out over time
You can see where the filter housing got damaged
It was probably a new guy who did this but idk
It all ended well luckily
Drove to a local Honda dealer and they had a used filter that we could use

Car is in limp mode after changing the egr valve gasket, vtec solenoid gasket/screen, and distributor o-ring.

I tighten my oil filters to hand tight and then give it a hurk to make sure it's good. Never too tight
Gonna check the oil level here after it settles back down. I add exactly the recommended amount of oil
Gotta find my multimeter now. Otherwise itโll be another day of driving to work while in limp mode xD
I keep mine between the two dots and I'm good
I try to keep it around halfway between or slightly above halfway
I keep it at MAX all the time
Because chain driven engines + hard cornering + low oil = possibility of running it dry
And we don't want that

Toyota wanted a larger and fancier Prius, so they took a Corolla and made a Lexus out of it. Then they put in a 2AZ out of a Camry and slapped a Prius hybrid system onto it. The HS250h sold like shit and failed pretty bad, it only got one generation (it did get a 2nd gen in Japan tho). After the HS250h failure, they took a Camry and slapped a hybrid system into it instead; sold a lot better.
The example my dad has (soon to be my brother's) sold for nearly $40k USD brand new.

Lil' update.
I took apart the solenoid, and remembered that that little shaft it moves flew out when I was cleaning it.
I flipped it around, thinking I put it in backwards.
The car ran fine for a few minutes. I was able to rev higher than 4k rpms.
But nearing the end of the test drive, it went back into limp mode.

we had problems with the transmission in our old 94 F250, narrowed it down to a bad connection in the dashboard. If you smacked the dashboard that would sometimes fix it.
Funny story, my aunt was on the team that designed that transmission so we always teased her about it.

So uh, I fixed the VTEC issue on my car x'D
Turns out when I was cleaning it to prep it for the new gasket/screen, that pin/shaft the solenoid moves, AND the spring for it, both fell out.
I didn't notice the spring. Went through the service manual's diagnostics for the P1259 code, and a few youtube videos till I found one where they took it apart, to find out what went wrong.
I searched, and found the spring in the grass.
Installed it, and now i have full power again, instead of being in Limp Mode.
All that's left is to change out the idle air control valve, as the engine revs from about 1300-2300rpm while at idle.

I did a dumb while trying to do maintenance on my car, and undid it.

and that's on top of the simple fact that more power increases the likelyhood of an accident (of any kind). I'd rather have a slow car that was pretty cheap and gives me a big grin than a cheap car I put in double it's value in parts and labor that is totaled and sitting in a junkyard
with a slow car, all you have to worry about is other people not being dumb. In a fast car you not only have to worry about idiot drivers, but also about your own ability to keep the car under control should you slide unexpectedly or something
