indigo coral
#

not a huge fan of LS mostly cause its just hellishly overdone

midnight cradle
#

rotaries > LS

fathom socket
#

Yeah

midnight cradle
#

rotaries are the best just because of how weird and stupid they are

fathom socket
#

There are too many LS swaps

midnight cradle
#

i found this company that makes 225cc rotaries and i really want one but they dont list a price

#

they say "inquire by booking an in person consultation at our london office"

#

and basically that means a single engine is probably over 10k

indigo coral
#

oh boy

#

thats one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it"

#

type things

midnight cradle
#

it's not even that good

#

40bhp

midnight cradle
#

mazda's doing a 600cc rotary range extender

#

so hopefully someone will figure out how to rip those out and build a go kart

#

my end goal is an autozam az1 with a rotary

fathom socket
#

So, you want an az1 with a dorito engine?

civic girder
#

that's really easy actually

#

get an AZ1

#

get any rotary engine ever

#

get a custom single rotor eccentric shaft

dense shard
#

Dunno if I'd swap an AZ-1.

civic girder
#

build a single rotor engine

#

ezpz

dense shard
#

The F6A is a brilliant little engine.

civic girder
#

yea, tbh

dense shard
#

If I had to swap it. I'd just do a K6A swap. Same engine, but not iron.

civic girder
#

the only way I'd put a rotary in an AZ1 is if I bought one without a motor or one with a dead motor

dense shard
#

K6A has massive potential even then.

fathom socket
#

JK

dense shard
#

Remember. Kei car regulations limit the engines to 64 horsepower.

fathom socket
#

Rotaries are cool

civic girder
#

and I'd definitely go single rotary, a 2 rotor would be too much for one of those tiny bois

dense shard
#

But you could easily tune it for more.

#

Apparently Caterham sells a kit with the 3 popper, and those are tuned to 90 horsepower.

fathom socket
#

I wouldn't mind having a car that has a dorito

civic girder
#

yes

#

join us

fathom socket
#

I want one

#

But don't have the money

civic girder
#

They are really simple to work on

dense shard
#

If I get a rotary, it'll be in a Mazda MX-30.

civic girder
#

ok, fair, they can be expensive

#

I want an MX-30 real bad

fathom socket
#

I've wanted one for a while

dense shard
#

It's an EV made with me in mind.

civic girder
#

Rotary is definitely something worth trying at least once

fathom socket
#

Maybe I'll get a Mystery Machine and dorito swap it

civic girder
#

lmao

fathom socket
#

And do endos with it

civic girder
#

Somebody posted that video in the RX-7 discord

fathom socket
#

Have you seen the whole series?

civic girder
#

no, I only saw the first video

fathom socket
#

The thing sounds really good

#

You need to see the vid where they start it

civic girder
#

ofc it does, its a turbskie 13B

fathom socket
#

It does killer burnouts

civic girder
#

oh I'm sure

fathom socket
#

That'd be cool to have a 4 rotor

#

Like Rob Dahm

#

It was halarious when he snuck the rotary Corvette into LS Fest

indigo coral
#

didnt he get banned from the event for that lol?

fathom socket
#

No

#

The whole staff thought it was halarious

midnight cradle
#

they put him in rotary jail though

fathom socket
#

Yeah

#

Cleetus McFarland loved it

civic girder
#

Oh yea, did you hear that Dahm killed the 4 rotor

fathom socket
#

I didn't

midnight cradle
#

he did?

civic girder
#

and then I think someone else is trying to beat him to a working awd billet 4 rotor

midnight cradle
#

i thought he almost killed it

fathom socket
#

Isn't he wanting a 6 rotor?

midnight cradle
#

oh fuck he killed it

civic girder
#

They did a botch job when they made a mod to the radiator

midnight cradle
civic girder
#

and so the engine ate aluminum

fathom socket
#

Oh

#

That sucks

civic girder
#

yea

fathom socket
#

Time for a 6 rotor?

civic girder
#

lmao

fathom socket
#

Sorry, 6 dorito

civic girder
#

he rebuilt

fathom socket
#

Aw man

midnight cradle
#

oh it's fixed i think

fathom socket
#

Why didn't he go with A mo powa babeh?

midnight cradle
#

yeah

civic girder
#

yea, it's rebuilt

fathom socket
#

When in doubt, add mo powa babeh

#

Sad to see him not follow that logic

midnight cradle
#

man i can't wait until i'm done school and have a real job and can afford shit and space to work on cars

#

i'm gonna buy so many fieros

civic girder
#

Rotary Fiero

midnight cradle
#

yes

#

with a 12a

#

the reliable rotary

civic girder
#

:12abest:

fathom socket
#

Fiero you say?

midnight cradle
#

fieros are the best shitboxes

fathom socket
#

0_0

civic girder
fathom socket
#

I love them

midnight cradle
#

i wish i could actually have a fiero but i have no room to work on a car, my insurance is expensive as fuck, and theyre terrible dailies

civic girder
#

I probably would've considered a Fiero had I not been dead set on an RX-7

midnight cradle
#

mid engine rwd 80s car in snow

#

slides and rotates 180ยฐ and you just die immediately

civic girder
#

try front engined rwd 80s car in snow

fathom socket
#

I was looking for a vid on a V8 fiero

civic girder
#

I had to drive the RX-7 on snow once, was not fun

midnight cradle
#

oh there's gotta be tons of v8 fieros

fathom socket
#

Just to piss of you rotary guys

midnight cradle
#

most swaps are 3800 right

#

or was it 3600

fathom socket
#

3800

midnight cradle
#

yeah 3800 SC

civic girder
#

ooh

#

that sounds pretty sick actually

fathom socket
#

The 3800 was so damn reliable

civic girder
#

supercharged V6

indigo coral
#

3800 good engine

civic girder
#

one of GMs gems

fathom socket
#

My grandpa has a supercharged 3800

midnight cradle
#

in like an old buick right

fathom socket
#

Well, had a 3800

#

@midnight cradle Exactly

civic girder
#

The Lumina also had 3800 iirc

fathom socket
#

Now my dad has the 3800

#

Cause grandpa (may he rest in peace) wasn't able to drive anymore

civic girder
#

F

midnight cradle
#

rip

civic girder
#

7.2 Gallons at the pump. One of the most expensive fill ups I've had in a while

indigo coral
#

my grandpa's car is 07 RX 350

#

he doesn't really drive anymore though

#

which is a recent development

civic girder
#

swap out for his

#

he won't notice

indigo coral
#

the rx350 has good power and trans, but god the steering makes me want to jump off a bridge

civic girder
#

lol

#

what kind of steering does it have?

indigo coral
#

idk, but I know its so incredibly numb and light that its insane

civic girder
#

ah

fathom socket
#

Lol

civic girder
#

probably an early form of electric power steering

indigo coral
#

just googled it

#

its normal power steering

#

w/ a pump and stuff

civic girder
#

huh, odd

indigo coral
#

its just soooooooo overassisted

civic girder
#

normally hydraulic power steering isn't that overboosted

indigo coral
#

It's a lexus rx.

#

lol

midnight cradle
#

yknow what the best car is fellas

indigo coral
#

mine isn't as boosted

fathom socket
#

When I drove my dad's 2017 Chevy Cruze for a couple of months, I disabled the power steering cause I hated it so much

midnight cradle
#

saturn astra

indigo coral
#

Genesis G70!! @midnight cradle

#

o

#

damn

midnight cradle
#

the best shitbox you can buy for 2kcad

indigo coral
#

fair enough

civic girder
#

what

fathom socket
#

The steering was heavy, but not to heavy

midnight cradle
#

disabling power steering

#

my dude

indigo coral
#

a friends sister crashed their grand prix into a tree (she's fine, just squashed the front corner in) because she claimed "the car stopped turning" lol

fathom socket
#

The car was so damn light

indigo coral
#

her parents were like.. then use the f*cking brakes

fathom socket
#

It didn't matter

midnight cradle
#

this is sort of like that but i shut off the engine while driving once

civic girder
#

My RX-7 lacks power steering in any form. Doesn't even have rack and pinion steering either. Hands down the best steering rack I've ever felt

midnight cradle
#

the steering is so heavy

indigo coral
#

uh

#

do you not have a lock

#

mine locks down the steering as soon as you turn it off

midnight cradle
#

the key was still it in and i set it to "on"

civic girder
#

wot

midnight cradle
#

i just put it in neutral and shut the engine off

civic girder
#

that sounds incredibly dangerous falcon

indigo coral
#

on mine, unless the engine is running it locks the steering

midnight cradle
#

that's terrible

fathom socket
#

Don't shut the engine off while moving!

midnight cradle
#

yeah i know i also suck

indigo coral
#

that's how most all modern cars are...

midnight cradle
#

but it's a manual ok so it's less bad

indigo coral
#

(not that mines particularly modern)

fathom socket
#

It'll disable the power brakes

midnight cradle
#

yeah i know

indigo coral
#

^ that

#

too

midnight cradle
#

i just put it back in gear slowly and it came back on

#

ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

civic girder
#

Yea. On my RX-7, the steering will lock if the key is removed or turned to off. But it will also only lock when you attempt to move the wheel

fathom socket
#

And prevent the airbags from inflating

midnight cradle
#

same as push starting

indigo coral
#

hardly takes any movement to make mine lock down

fathom socket
#

I've stall started many cars before

midnight cradle
#

look at that it's so perfect

indigo coral
#

wow

civic girder
#

Somehow I stalled the RX-7 while driving once. Still not sure how that happened. And then having the fuel pump die while on the highway is also terrifying as well

midnight cradle
#

best car

#

did i mention it's a m a n u a l

fathom socket
#

Did you put it back in gear while the car was movin

midnight cradle
#

yeah

#

and i slowly let out the clutch and the engine started

civic girder
fathom socket
#

@midnight cradle Oh shit, does it have the 2.4 ecotec engine?

midnight cradle
#

1.8

#

they only put one engine in the thing

civic girder
#

o o f

fathom socket
#

Oof

civic girder
#

2.4 ecoshit is the only good ecoshit

midnight cradle
#

i think there's a 2.4t or something in europe though

#

the VXR

fathom socket
#

Thank God it doesn't have the 2.4

civic girder
#

huh

midnight cradle
#

same car technically

civic girder
#

I thought the 2.4 was the good one

fathom socket
#

It sorta is

#

They all have trouble

indigo coral
#

idk if you could classify the 1mz-fe as a good engine

#

it wasn't a pioneering crazy accomplishment or anything

#

(and its slow as f*ck)

civic girder
#

What about the 1NZ-FXE

#

(aka, what the 2nd gen Prius has)

indigo coral
#

its kind of ridiculous it only has 220hp from 3 litres and 6 cylinders

fathom socket
#

@indigo coral Wanna hear something more crazy?

midnight cradle
#

let's see what engine this has

#

it's a 1.8 vvt ecotec

#

138hp

indigo coral
#

I know 70s cars were like 150hp from 8 liter v8

#

if thats where youre going

civic girder
#

Speaking of ecoshits, there's a guy on the RX-7 discord who is putting a turbo ecotec motor in an FC

midnight cradle
#

based

fathom socket
#

@indigo coral My older brothers first vehicle was a 2002 Ford F-150. It had a 4.6l V8 and it made a whopping 230 HP

civic girder
#

idk which one exactly, but I think he's putting a 2.4 in it

indigo coral
#

yikes

#

the rx is my first

fathom socket
#

The 2.4 can hold the most boost

civic girder
#

yea, probably what he's going with

fathom socket
#

The 2.4 is good except for the timing chain probs

civic girder
#

lmao

#

typical GM

fathom socket
#

Which can be solved with a good timing kit

midnight cradle
#

ah my car's got a U18XER

#

just found it

indigo coral
#

@fathom socket Do you think the 1MZ-FE is a good engine?

fathom socket
#

Or, changing the oil every 3000 miles

midnight cradle
#

it's got VVT

civic girder
#

He's probably getting a good timing kit, or at least I would hope. He's been on this project for a year (?) and hopes to finish it in 2020

midnight cradle
#

basically that means i can put vtec badges on my car

#

yeet

fathom socket
#

@indigo coral Definitely not the best, but a decent motor. Should last you to 250,000 miles without any trouble

civic girder
#

then there's my fake rod knock 1NZ

fathom socket
#

Lol

indigo coral
#

what about the Kia/Hyundai 3.3t

#

and SAME

#

mine seriously sounded 100% like rod knock though

fathom socket
#

What engine does it have?

indigo coral
#

1 sec

civic girder
#

Now that I kinda think about it, the noise those ceramic pieces sound kinda like rod knock

midnight cradle
#

man i kinda wish i could get a diesel in my car

#

NA doesnt have enough diesel cars

civic girder
#

but you can tell its not rod knock cause the sound comes from the top of the motor

fathom socket
#

@midnight cradle Duramax swap it ๐Ÿ˜›

indigo coral
#

cant find a specific engine code

civic girder
#

Get a diesel Jetta

midnight cradle
#

nah i mean like

civic girder
#

a buddy of mine has a diesel Jetta as his daily

indigo coral
#

its the 3.3 litre turbo v6

midnight cradle
#

my car's basically just a rebadged opel astra

civic girder
#

That motor sounds pretty lit

indigo coral
#

365hp

midnight cradle
#

and that car came with so many engines in europe

#

but then they brought it over here and they only offered it with the 1.8l

indigo coral
#

"3.3 T-GDi"

fathom socket
#

@indigo coral I don't recommend the engine.

indigo coral
#

why?

midnight cradle
#

like in europe they can pick between 5 different gas engines

indigo coral
#

also fuck now i have to find a different dream car

fathom socket
#

But it's not terrible

midnight cradle
#

and 3 different diesels

indigo coral
#

what are the bad parts about it

fathom socket
#

Mostly like every engine nowadays, the timing system

indigo coral
#

hey thats what went wrong with my moms explorer xD

#

timing chain stretched and a whoolllle load of shit went wrong

fathom socket
#

I've seen that happen all too many times

indigo coral
#

thankfully was under warranty

#

lol

fathom socket
#

People ask me, do I go with a chain driven engine or a belt driven engine

indigo coral
#

belt engines are bad though, cause you have to replace the timing belt every few years + pretty much all new engines are interference

fathom socket
#

I tell them, it doesn't matter. Your still gonna have issues some day

indigo coral
#

I really can't find out if mine is interference or not

#

its literally a giant debate on lexus/toyota forums

#

lmao

civic girder
#

Just be like the RX-7. Timing chain and distributor

#

distributors are cool

#

just like carbs

fathom socket
#

But a pain in the ass

civic girder
#

tru

indigo coral
#

do you by any chance know if the 1mz-fe is interference? Mine's the VVTi versionp.

civic girder
#

tho I have not had the pain joy of having to adjust timing yet

#

so

fathom socket
#

I have no idea

civic girder
#

distributor still seems pretty cool

dense shard
#

Write an email to Lexus of America

#

I'm sure they can give you an answer

fathom socket
#

Ugh, sorry.

#

I had to be an admin for a sec

#

@indigo coral Did you ask a question?

indigo coral
#

yes

fathom socket
#

What was it?

indigo coral
#

do you by any chance know if the 1mz-fe is interference? Mine's the VVTi versionp.

fathom socket
#

I'm pretty sure it is.

indigo coral
#

i know the non-vvti one is for sure non-interference

#

and the 3mz-fe in the newer RX is interference

fathom socket
#

I'm pretty sure the 1mz-fe is interference

indigo coral
#

so apparently hte confusion comes from Toyota listing them as interference AND non-interference from different sites/sources/times

#

charming

civic girder
#

Toyota doesn't know what it is

#

they just know it works

indigo coral
#

some ppl said that its non-interference unless VVTi is engaged, then it can take out the valves

#

but \

#

I read online that vvti on this car is just timing, it doesnt affect valve lift or anything besides timing

civic girder
#

It probably is just timing

#

most cam related stuff is too expensive to bother

#

or too complex

#

VVT stands for "variable valve timing" afterall

indigo coral
#

oh well, whatever

#

ill replace it around 200k

civic girder
#

VVL is "variable valve lift"

indigo coral
#

higher mileage but time wise its appropriate

#

was done just a few years ago

civic girder
#

what was done?

indigo coral
#

timing belt service

civic girder
#

oh

indigo coral
#

so i assume water pump and stuff too

civic girder
#

you assume, but can you confirm that

indigo coral
#

nope

#

but I'm not tearing the whole thing apart to rpelace it

civic girder
#

then assume it wasn't done

indigo coral
#

I'm paranoid as hell when I'm driving so if something goes wrong I'll notice it

civic girder
#

Always assume something wasn't done unless you have written and/or physical evidence that it was done

indigo coral
#

I'll plan to do plugs again at 175k, then tb and stuff at 200k

civic girder
#

The only things I knew were done to the RX-7 when I bought it was the stuff the actual mechanic who did them told me

#

Fuel pump, fuel filler neck, fuel filler cap, carb rebuild, fuel filter, and cleaned/sealed gas tank

#

nothing else was touched

indigo coral
#

lexus service guide says plugs every 50k, but the car is getting old

#

so prob do it a bit more frequiently

#

next time will be far easier than last time

civic girder
#

I think the RX-7 manual says spark plugs every 30k, lmao

#

Oh yea, I think the Prius will also be easier to change next time. If there is a next time on this motor

indigo coral
#

I do oil every 5k which is against all the advice on forums and in teh service guide but I use synthetic versus dino shit

civic girder
#

Conventional is great

#

for rotaries

indigo coral
#

no benefit to it in my rx

#

it gets sludgy easily, like VERY easily in that engine

#

synth doesnt

civic girder
#

Yea, conventional is only good in those niche applications

indigo coral
#

though my usual driving style doesn't lend itself to sludge

civic girder
#

I put full synth in the Prius

indigo coral
#

seems that the people who had problems with sludge in the RX were old people who never got it up to temp

dense shard
#

My Corolla is my first car that takes synthetic

indigo coral
#

it's rare that I don't get it all the way warm driving somewhere

dense shard
#

Toyota states 10k between oil changes

normal temple
indigo coral
#

and yes, I've driven an extra little bit between changing oil.

#

Service manual on mine says 3k, forums say 2k on dino

#

I do 5k

#

๐Ÿ˜„ (on synth)

civic girder
#

After having dailyed a rotary for a fair amount of time, I always give adequate time for a motor to warm up

#

It might sound stupid to sit and wait for the engine to kick on in a hybrid, but I do

#

and then I'll let it warm up for a minute or two before driving off

indigo coral
#

i give mine a few seconds but usually I'm kinda in a hurry lol.

fathom socket
#

I get soooooooo annoyed when I have a customer who changed the oil every 20,000 miles and got upset when the engine blew up

indigo coral
#

I'll turn it on and get music going, drinks setup, etc

#

hey 5k isn't as bad as 20k

#

lol

civic girder
#

Yea, def not

#

I've run the Prius 10k without problems tho

indigo coral
#

5k is reasonable for synthetics

civic girder
#

I think that was also on conventional because I was being cheap, lmfao

fathom socket
#

I go whenever the percentage on my dash is at 20%

indigo coral
#

is synthetic that much more expensive?

#

I mean its like 20 bucks for 6 quarts

civic girder
#

at quick lube places, yes

#

for DIY oil change, no

#

and I did DIY this time

indigo coral
#

oil changes are ez as hell

#

only car we take to the dealer is the Taurus cause the warranty xD

civic girder
#

Yea, but before, I didn't have any tools for oil changes

indigo coral
#

(ends in 2023 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ )

civic girder
#

I didn't really have much for tools (or knowledge/experience) until after I got the RX-7

indigo coral
#

the damn door handle needs fixed at the dealer on the taurus

civic girder
#

and the RX-7 is going nowhere within 50ft of quick lube places

indigo coral
#

the spring fell off in the back seat

#

so it like

#

unlatches fine but doesnt have resistance

#

they'll fix it though

civic girder
#

My friend's dad's 89 Vic, the driver's side door handle got unhooked from the mechanism on the outside

#

so you had to open the driver's door from either the back, or the passenger side (on the inside)

indigo coral
#

the latch works fine, its just the thing that provides resistance (and pulls the handle back) when you pull on it

civic girder
#

That crown vic is something else tho

indigo coral
#

lmao

civic girder
#

leaks oil like nothing I've ever seen before

#

rusty af

#

sounds like somebody clapping rapidly when you stomp on it

indigo coral
#

we found out a big rip about my car

#

but don't plan to do anything about it for a good long while

civic girder
#

but holy shit, that Vic is pretty comfy

#

potholes and bumps do not exist because the suspension is super soft

fathom socket
#

Crown Vics are comfy

civic girder
#

and the body roll is unreal

#

well, I think I am going to head off for the night

indigo coral
#

goodnight

@dense shard

drifting mantle

Got the scanner. I was expecting the problem to be with the distributor / ignition system.

#

Most likely I just broke the connection, when disconnecting the wire for the solenoid.

Iโ€™ll check it tomorrow morning.

@midnight cradle I see an Astra, I press like xD

But uhm, U18XER? It's Z18XER iirc, can't remember Opel/Vauxhall using the U as a letter (or it must be something specific for the US market)

The VXR/OPC didn't use a 2.4 (Turbo), a 2.4 wouldn't fit. The VXR/OPC did use a 2.0 Turbo (241hp)

Other engines you could get in the Astra:

  • 1.4 (Z14XEP) 90hp
  • 1.6 (Z16XEP/Z16XER) 105/115hp
  • 1.8 non-VTT (Z18XE) 125hp
  • 1.8 VVT (Z18XER) 140hp
  • 1.6 Turbo (Z16LET) 180hp
  • 2.0 Turbo (Z20LEL/Z20LER/Z20LEH) 170/200/241hp (241 == OPC/VXR)
  • 1.3/1.7/1.9 CDTi (diesels) ranging from 90hp up to 150hp
#

Also the 2.4 is a US GM engine, and has never been used in any Opel/Vauxhall model (and since the Saturn is just a rebrand... xD)

stoic ledge
#

And their quality is also quite shite, although engine wise it's ok the last couple of years
DSG, especially the DQ200 is really bad
Their van line-up is pre-historic
They are indeed very expensive compared to the competition
Tbh the driving is completely bland. Nothing offensive, but it's not a car which is fun to drive. Comparable Ford's for example are way more fun
The looks are also very bland, which is nice if you want that

And besides that, I know plenty VW owners (Golf, Passsat) of a few years old with squeaks and rattles from all different sorts of places... which shouldn't occur on such expensive car

And then, most of all: the Dutch importer. They are ๐Ÿ’ฉ . Where in other places in Europe, cars get extended warranty, leniency fixes etc... the Dutch importer just doesn't. He actually buys the cars from the factory without warranty, and then "provides" the warranty himself. Which is basically 0 warranty.

GWloopyBlobShrug It's on his license, he's only allowed to drive an automatic so he does. Don't really see the issue unless you're going to drive in a manual all of a sudden

So it did eventually tear up the undercaot

The only other rust I have seen is surface rust where paint got chipped up, and rusty af bolts

The garage did that once on my grandma's Honda Jazz, half a year later when we drove to Germany it gave a low oil pressure warning

Toyota wanted a larger and fancier Prius, so they took a Corolla and made a Lexus out of it. Then they put in a 2AZ out of a Camry and slapped a Prius hybrid system onto it. The HS250h sold like shit and failed pretty bad, it only got one generation (it did get a 2nd gen in Japan tho). After the HS250h failure, they took a Camry and slapped a hybrid system into it instead; sold a lot better.

A few days ago, one of the mods created a channel called "turbochads", for people with turbos on their cars.
So then another mod decided to change the name of an existing channel to "Claimed By NA Gang"

fair bronze
#

There's an RX-7 server?

#

lmao

civic girder
#

and now in the claimed by na gang chat, people are spamming the :noturbo: emote and saying meme things like "imagine thinking extra air will make your car faster

#

There's two RX-7 discords that I know of

#

There's the full fat all generations of RX-7 included, and LS swapping allowed server.
And there's the first gen only splinter server that spawned because a bunch of first gen bois got tired of the shitposting and memeing of the main server

indigo coral
#

Lol

fair bronze
#

RX-7 people are weird

civic girder
#

You're definitely not wrong

fair bronze
#

I like it

civic girder
#

Ye

#

Rotaries are cool. I think everyone should experience them at least once in their life. Maybe not own, as they can be a total pain in the ass

#

but I still want my rotary swapped truck and a bone stock (or near stock) RX-4 sedan

#

and the FB is never going anywhere

indigo coral
#

would be fun to drive if I could find an automatic one

civic girder
#

I have not driven an automatic rotary, but from what I understand, they suck pretty badly

indigo coral
#

I can't drive manual ;P

civic girder
#

especially the RX-8 autos because its a shitty Ford trans

#

Manual isn't that hard, you'd learn fast. And even then, you wouldn't necessarily have to drive it ;P

indigo coral
#

I tried in my grandpa's old truck. It did not go well.

#

So yeah. I don't have that gift. Lol.

civic girder
#

was it a column manual

indigo coral
#

no

civic girder
#

oof

indigo coral
#

I'm not smart enough to drive stick lol.

civic girder
#

You don't have to be smart

#

You just have to praftice

#

Trust me, the first time I drove stick, it was embarrassing

#

I had to quit because I couldn't even make it down the street from my house to my friends house

#

Part of practicing is that you also need a car with a decent trans and a good clutch. A shit clutch can fuck you up, even if you're good.

#

But if you can drive on a fucked clutch, you are a god

stoic ledge
#

Driving stick is ez ๐Ÿ™ƒ

fair bronze
#

It actually is pretty easy, you just have to learn

#

Don't be intimidated by it

stoic ledge
#

Just rev it up to 6000rpm and clutch dump it Pogey

indigo coral
#

That's how you launch isn't it? I redline my car in neutral then drop it into drive. /s

stoic ledge
#

That's the automatic way, yeah

#

You can't do that in a manual

indigo coral
#

I was 100% joking

stoic ledge
#

You think I wasn't? xD

normal temple
#

@stoic ledge 9000 rpm clutch dump into R(ace) mode shift

civic girder
#

You mean 1500rpm automatic dump into Race mode in the Prius

fathom socket
#

If you do a clutch dump at 1500rpm in my third gen Camaro, it just does a burnout.

fathom socket
#

Ha

civic girder
#

real image of the RX-7 discord

fathom socket
#

Turbo all the way baby!!!

night current
#

Pop up, up and down headlights

fathom socket
#

You can't go wrong with a turbske!

night current
#

^

fathom socket
#

If ya blow it up, build it stronger.

night current
#

Hell yeah brother

civic girder
#

I am part of the na-gang

night current
#

Na is cool, but turbske for powah

fathom socket
#

Superchargers are cool

#

Especially on big block's

civic girder
#

I prefer superchargers

#

turbskies are just glorified mufflers

fathom socket
#

You get way more power for less money with a turbske

#

Superchargers cost like $7k

civic girder
#

ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

#

I prefer na over superchargers

#

why spend extra money when I already have enough power and some good noises

fathom socket
#

What???

#

You can never have enough power

#

Sigh

#

Have you learned nothing being in the car community

#

No one just says "Eh, It's got enough power"

civic girder
#

ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

indigo coral
#

More power more better

civic girder
#

If I cared about racing, sure

indigo coral
#

looks at Demon

#

Too a point.

civic girder
#

but I don't really want to head to the track

#

I think it would defeat the fun for me

indigo coral
#

840hp Challenger is just ridiculous lmao

civic girder
#

much more than 180hp is ridiculous for me

#

100-130hp is about the sweet spot for me

#

For me, it's not about going fast or getting quick laps and bragging about how much power I have and how much boooooscht I'm feeding my LS

#

it's about driving around with a smile on my face

#

$1500 into a engine swap and big turbo, sure it'd be fast as fuck and fun too, but I just wouldn't smile as much knowing how much it cost

#

especially if I'm not really doing anything to justify the increase in power and ridiculous suspension and wheels/tires

#

and that's on top of the simple fact that more power increases the likelyhood of an accident (of any kind). I'd rather have a slow car that was pretty cheap and gives me a big grin than a cheap car I put in double it's value in parts and labor that is totaled and sitting in a junkyard

#

with a slow car, all you have to worry about is other people not being dumb. In a fast car you not only have to worry about idiot drivers, but also about your own ability to keep the car under control should you slide unexpectedly or something

#

just my two cents

#

I just don't think fast cars are for me

fossil imp
#

130? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

#

400 is the sweetspot for the road imo

#

depends what u are use to

indigo coral
#

300-400 is enough to be excessive enough that it's fun but not so much that you go to jail in 3 seconds

#

glances at 365hp G70

stoic ledge
#

83hp is enough ๐Ÿ™ƒ

#

@normal temple that would work as well xD

normal temple
#

6th into Race mode is the best

indigo coral
#

you gotta put it in P(ass) mode on the highway

#

to go around someone

stoic ledge
#

I'll make a timelapse of my daily commute to prove 83hp is enough xD

#

> imagine having a P gear

indigo coral
#

don't have to imagine cause I've got one poggers

#

Hmm why haven't anyone put like a twin turbo 6.9l Cummins diesel in a mid engined chassis? ๐Ÿค”

stoic ledge
#

Because mid engined means good handling, a heavy diesel isn't what you want xD

civic girder
#

And the RX-7 discord is great. (marked out word is 3 letters and starts with a 'g' pretty sure its censored on the LTT discord, so I figured I should cross it out)

fair bronze
#

big oof

dense shard
#

60hp was enough for my commute in Japan.

#

170 for me right now is plenty.

indigo coral
#

it's worse than last gen
