@civic girder Don't use the garbage spark plugs sockets with rubber inserts in them! Get a magnetic one. You'll thank yourself for it.
Yeeees
I don't see a problem with the rubber plug sockets
They stop working after a while.
I've used my gigantic hulk one on the RX-7 numerous times without issues
well yea, after a while the rubber will dry out, crack, and fall out
hulk socket
hulk torque?
it's a very wide socket
A magnetic one is much better.
I got it from Autozone for really cheap.
That is a 9/16s inch plug
Your Prius will have a 5/8s inch plug.
yea, ook I'm just stupid
You'll need to get a 5/8s spark plug socket.
I have like 3 5/8s plug sockets, lmaoo
Okay.
I guess I just didn't put enough yeet on the ratchet when I tried to get it off earlier
I'm telling you, the magnetic ones are soooo much better.
ChrisFix recommends them.
I can always get one later
as of now I do not have an immediate need for more sockets
If you are working on vehicles all day every day. It's a must.
well, I'd sure hope I don't have too change spark plugs often
I am in computer shit by trade, cars is just a side hobby to entertain me when computers are putting me to sleep
Cause the rubber ones don't hold up for long
I'm into computer stuff too.
But my trade is automotive stuff.
For the RX-7, I don't think it really matters. I could just use a deep ass 9/16 socket for all I care. The plugs are so easy to access that it wouldn't matter
all you need to do is break it loose and then you can thread it off by hand
fuck, I could just use a wrench, lmao
I'll have to take a picture tomorrow
if you're experienced enough in it, you could probably swap plugs in less than 5 minutes
Yeah.
Transversly mounted 4 cylinder engines are really easy to replace the plugs on also.
Except you need a socket with a long extension.
yea
the problem with the Prius tho, is that the plugs sit up quite far back
so it can be a little annoying since there's not much clearance for long extensions
That sucks.
Yea
luckily they don't seem to be too deep
just deep enough that a normal extension that comes with most cheap socket sets isn't long enough
god. The headlight replacement procedure is total ass
you can either take the front wheels and front bumper off, in order to remove the one bolt you can't access that holds the headlight assembly in
or reach your hand into a cramped space and do it blind
Rip
mine you can get at the lights from the back
So it's literally like a 2 minute job
yea, it's super hard to reach them with the assemblies in the car
and then the retention mechanism and shit on the light itself is big dumb, so it is very difficult to do blind
I'm hoping my LEDs won't burn out... ever.
Shouldn't be a huge issue if it does.
well it's just another 50$ or whatever the kit cost
yeah
My LEDs are kind of obnoxiously bright but we have so many deer and shit running out of the trees that I do really need to have better lights than candles taped to my hood
Mine are 12,000 lumens.
idk what mine are, but I didn't retrofit projectors
I did the sin of just sticking them in the reflector housing
There's a retrofit kit for 400$ on Newegg wtf
would probably be beneficial but that's a lot of money
Save it up, go for it in the future.
L E D S @indigo coral
Well I'll be damned. One of my plugs is cracked.
You can barely tell
Won't see it on camera. But they also don't seem too bad
I also am having a real tough time getting these plugs out. Jesus Christ they are tight
Holy fuck
One of my plugs exploded
Not sure if it was from me trying to get it out, or if it just did that on its own
Either way, I'm in a dilemna now
Guess you vacuum the porcelain pieces out?
Give it a try I guess
I have long needle nose, but you can't get them down there because the clearance is ass. I can't even see into the wells with my own eyes, I have to rely on my phone camera
This pic probably doesn't even fully portray how cramped it is
I'd need some curved long needle nose or something
wooow
Yea. This is bad
I think I might have busted it trying to get it out. Probably cause they are at least 10 years old and didn't have anti-seize
Hope you aren't gonna have to take off the head and send it away to get rebuilt/rethreaded
But then the plug socket I was using to get it loose apparently doesn't grip the plug cause the rubber is too far back
And so the porcelain spilled out when it took the socket away with no plug
Oh god. I really don't want to have to take the head off over a fuckin spark plug
hope you can still get it out then
The same thing probably would have happened if I'd taken it somewhere. These plugs are likely the original ones
Only difference is they might be able to get it out with a stronger vacuum or something
Yep. Needle nose can't get down there
I don't think my other spark plug socket can get it out, even if it were to mean that porcelain shards fell into the engine
Which of course would be even worse
Hmm. Idk if I have what I need to try this, but some people are saying to put something sticky on a something long and flexible, then try and grab the porcelain chunks with the sticky stuff
I have some extra vacuum hose that might work
Now I need something edhesive to put on the end that won't fall off and will also keep the porcelain attached
And then this is going to be the most difficult surgery I may ever do. Fuck, why can't piston engines be as painless as rotaries
Why must pistons be more reliable but so painful
@civic girder Get a pair of really long needle nose pliers from Harbor Freight.
Or any tool retailer.
I have long needle nose. But the problem is that the cannot reach down there because of the clearance between the top of the engine and the too of the engine bay
Reference this picture
If you take the valve cover off, it should be easier to get at the broken plug.
How complex will that be, and will I need a new gasket
It depends, you might need a new gasket.
God damn it
It should be not too hard to get the valve cover off.
I sure hope not
Can you send a photo of the other parts of the plug?
All I have is a picture of that well
Okay.
The plug is keeping the porcelain out of the engine, but
@civic girder Is this what happend?
Do you mean this?
Something like that yee
Yes
Use a vacuum with an extension wand.
Be careful.
Those pieces of porcelain or super sharp and dangerous.
The problem is my vacuum has a large, solid opening
So it can't quite get down there very well
Can't even creat a vacuum over the well
Buy a thing of 1/2 inch clear hose from the hardware store. And tape it to the end of the vaccum.
I've had to do it before.
Make sure to use anti-seize on the new plugs.
Definitely using anti sieze, holy shit
Idk if 1/2 inch will work tho
This vacuum has a thick opening
Do you have playdoh?
Make sure that you torque them to the correct spec.
Somewhere, probably @dense shard
You could probably try to use that to stick and pull some pieces out.
Don't chance it and just tighten them without a torque wrench.
A 1/2 inch hose should fit down in the spark plug well.
How well would that work, you think? Play-Doh?
no clue, but worth a try. Beats having shards become part of the combustion cycle.
I wouldn't use play-doh
1/2 should fit in the well, yea, but I don't think it'll fit over the hose?
It won't fit over the hose.
Vacuum hose, I mean
But you duct tape it to the end.
I guess it's worth a shot.
Worst comes to worse, flex seal
Don't use play dough because it comes apart and will stick to the inside of the well.
And I don't know if play dough is combustible
I just took the airbox off now. Honestly doesn't give you that much extra work soace
But I guess I'll clean up some things and warm up the 7 to take and get that 1/2 inch hose
Need to stop and get new spark plugs as well
I've got Ace about 4-5 min away
Ok
Alright. I'll @ you if I need further help
Okay.
@fathom socket
Probably dumb question, but vinyl hose is fine?
Is it clear?
Yes
It'll work.
Figured
The hose doesn't even need to be clear.
But it helps to see what youre sucking up with the vaccum
@civic girder Also, there's no such thing as a dumb question.
True, lol

I've been watching that build.
It's quite interesting.
Awesome!
When you picture a Prius, do you see a red one?
No, I see my grey one
It seems like a lot of them are red.
Red and black Prius's are the most common where live
trust me there such thing as a dumb question
https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/6/21054270/sony-vision-s-electric-concept-car-ev-announcement-ces-2020 Oh boy. Tech company does electric car 2: Electric boogaloo.
Damn. The smaller pieces don't want to come out
Do you have an air compressor or one of those cans of compressed air for cleaning electronics.
I have an air blower for cleaning computers. No compressor or actual can of compressed air
Yea, it's not as strong as compressed air cans, but it's an alternative
Try using that to blast out the shards.
Ok
Definitely wear safety glasses!
Those shards will take your eye out.
Hmm. The shards didn't seem to budge
Okay.
You'll need a cab of compressed air
They sell them at Ace.
For $8.99
Pretty expensive for a can of air.
Yea. That is expensive damn
Let me see if I still have a can with some air left in it
Ok. This can still has aor
Air*
Ok. Think I heard them rattle around a bit
Trying vac again
it's not actually air in a can
do you have a skewer
You'll need a new can with a lot of pressure.
dislodge it with a wooden skewer
You could always use chopsticks ๐
or that
Yea might need something real thin that I can use to move them around while the vacuum tube is down there
Use a straw or something.
Idk if that's gonna be thin enough
But make sure to burn the straw if it's plastic afterwards.
why is the plug crooked in the hole btw
Cause you don't wanna kill a turtle ๐
wait why would he -oh
It was loosened by my socket then wiggle around when I had the tube down there
I need something like pencil lead in thickness, but a lot stronger. Maybe just slightly thicker than pencil lead
Like the compressed air can straw?
Idk if that's long enough though
But maybe if I use my long needle nose to grip it and stick it down there
Yea. That's like on the air can
About to try
Okay.
Initial inspection let's me like the plug with it, so should be able to dislodge the pieces
Really hope it works.
It's not long enough, if it was longer it would work
Definitely use penitrating oil for the other plugs.
Did you try it with needle nose pliers?
Yea, the pliers make it a bit more difficult
Speaking of the other plugs. I'm gonna douse them in WD40 rn
Good idea.
WD-40 doesn't work the best.
I use my own homemade oil.
It's a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF.
It's all I have
It'll work.
The best commercial product is PB Blaster.
Yea
Ok. That's 2 plugs doused in WD40, one out, and one that's loose but porcelain is in the well
Of what?
What do you mean by porcelain in the well?
It was working on the larger pieces that didn't get stuck so bad
But these smaller pieces really don't want to come out
Get a new can of compressed air and blast then loose.
Them vaccum it.
Keep doing it until they come out.
I'll try this can again, but you may be right and I need a fresh one
Yes
Or you could yank the engine out and stick it on an engine stand and flip it upside down.
๐
Don't have the stuff necessary to do that
I'm messing.
Part of the problem is that once you put the it can on its side, it just sprays liquid
And then there's one piece that's moving with the air, but the vacuum isn't picking it up
You gotta hold the can as upright as possible and angle the straw into the well.
Does the vaccum not have good suction?
The straw isn't long enough to do anything when you try and keep it uprught
The vacuum is decently strong. It's not a crazy strong one though
Ugh
This is why we use anti sieze
Yea. Where the hell would you find those tho
Yea. I'm probably gonna take a break though. My friend wants to hang out for a bit
I'll see what I can find
Damn, may have to get them on Amazon. I don't see any places that have them
But probably my best shot at this stage
And rotary life strikes again. What the fuck
It's doing it's lumpy oil flooding thing
dude you've got a bad run going @civic girder
Eh. The RX-7 just does that for some reason.
I feel like it's a weird thing where it does it when you start it when it's like warm. Like you went somewhere and then we're inside for a bit and it was long enough for it to cool off, but not long enough to become cold
But then when it does that lumpy idle thing, you just shut it off and wait for it to get completely cold, then it starts up ezpz
Yep. Hung out with my friend a bit. Came back, RX-7 is behaving again
oof
gas prices gonna go crazy
rip
wait @civic girder how long does yours take to get stone cold? you just have to sit there and wait?
mines not stone cold for like 2 hours
well it doesn't have to get stone cold, just cold enough to be considered a cold start
you can either hot start minutes after you turn it off, or wait till the engine mostly cools off
Rip
so about an hour and a half to two hours
But I still can't confirm if that is actually the culprit or not
just seems like it because its happened twice with those circumstances
Apparently my friend has a legit air compressor I might be able to borrow
Elon Musk not realizing that Iranian oil is sanctioned and can't really be bought in the West.
lol
If gas prices go up, it'll be Straits of Hormuz issues or purely artificial inflation.
or just instability
So apparently the new Ford 7.3L is pretty powerful.
is that the one in the GT500?
nah in the heavy duty trucks.
ah
I don't see those engines every making it into cars.
ford has given up on cars
Pretty much.
honest to god, on their most recent earning call, they mentioned "scaling back SUV production to focus on our most lucrative market, pickup trucks"
They're holding on in Europe, but only just.
aka they're considering abandoning the Explorer in favor of more trucks
That's dumb.
They're going to scale back one of the top selling products in favor of a few dozen more F150 sales.
Economy gonna collapse, and no one is gonna wanna buy a 75k toy.
They're already dumb for dropping the Fusion.
I don't blame them for dropping the taurus, despite it being one of their best cars
hardly any sold
It's moving a lot of units even now.
A redesign wouldn't kill Ford, and it would keep them competitive on the bottom.
on the fusion?
Seriously... just drop the top nacho trims, and keep it more basic.
yeah, the Fusion.
they sell a LOT of the top nacho trims though
lots of platinum/titanium/sport models
I'm willing to take anything here that preserves sedans in the market.
I don't have 45k to blow.
Or 35.
The taurus was also too expensive when it was new
yeah
Poor man's E39 M5.
You're well into it.
(or mercedes whatever marque you care to name)
Stripper BMW, sure.
well, a bmw with competitive features/performance
is probably around there isnt it?
I'd rather just get a Honda Accord. About as fast in a straight line.
over a bmw or the sho?
yeah
tbh
im impressed with how decently the sho handles
considering its a big ass sedan
the sho hauls some ass, and handles pretty well
Does it handle almost 25k better than an Accord?
No. It doesn't.
100 horsepower more.
ah
Hell... let's deck the Honda out. They were what.. 35k loaded?
exactly why the taurus died
but it's still a competent car
particularly if you buy it used
(lightly)
(also 6 second 0-60 doesn't count as 'brutally fast')
its adequately quick, but not brutally fast
For a family sedan. I'd say that's fucking fast.
'brutally fast' is like between 2 and 3.5
For a hypercar, sure.
(or an ev)
But what about a family sedan?
This is something you can afford.
considering my RX can hardly keep up with traffic on on ramps and its 8.8, 6 is decent but not crazy
The mustang did it in a little over 5 in 2005.
A 2012 Acord did it in just a bit more.
the 2005 mustang was dogshit though
A V6 Accord can take on a Mustang in the right conditions.
The Mustang had a V8, RWD, and 300 horsepower.
you're comparing a 2017 model year car to a 2005
2012 actually.
obviously the newer car has the edge, its got access to competent/modern technology
Point is what was considered fast in 2005 is still fast in 2012 or even now.
0-60 in the 5 second range is remarkable. Especially considering it's now a family sedan that can do what a muscle car could just a generation prior.
meh, I'd still not call it remarkable. It's not terribly impressive. You were just complaining about the SHO and its engine, same principle in the accord. They stuffed a more powerful engine in a sedan, sounds good. It's not impressive nor remarkable. Just like the tesla-wanking about the 2.3s 0-60, it get handily and easily beaten by the taycan because its way newer. Tech advances, and shoving lots of power into something isn't impressive.
I'd say that Honda doing it in a car for half the Price of the SHO is remarkable.
Tesla and Porsche doing it are remarkable, but less so when you look at the price tags.
Can also get a similar level of performance in a Stinger GT
that's what, 40k?
and far nicer than the accord
As it should be for a much greater price.
the GT1/GT2 raise the price, but the base GT is somewhere around 40k
5k more isn't a much greater price
yeah 39,500 for a Stinger GT
that's not my point
the taurus is overpriced yes, but the accord isn't a very good car either
How isn't it a very good car?
its incredibly ugly, lackluster interior, and unimpressive projected reliability
honda has been rapidly dropping through the ranks in terms of being reliable cars
I haven't heard any complaints about the interior.
And exterior, while I agree, is subjective.
also the boosted 4 cyl shows up again, in an application where its completely unsuitable
The 2.0 isn't my first choice, but it's no different than Hyundai, Kia, Chevy, or even Subaru.
They're all doing it wrong too.
You should not be putting a 2.0T in a 4k lb sedan
or SUV
or whatever
They're lighter than 4k.
Lots of the cars that have the stressed 4cyls are over 4k lbs
Current Accord goes from 3,100 pounds to just under 3500.
Lots of cars do, but I doubt any midsize sedans weigh more than 4000 pounds.
can get a Chevy Blazer that weighs 4200lbs with a 2.0t
And that's a crossover.
I thought we were talking about sedans and boosted engines?
theyre going to fail way earlier
than less-stressed, bigger engines
and the "fuel economy" benefit is a load of sh*t too
the Explorer weighs 4800 bloody pounds and has a 2.3L
Kia Stinger's 3.3 isn't exactly under stressed and easy going though...
sure
the age of the 7L V8s making 140hp is over thankfully, but that doesn't mean all engines have to be tiny 4cyls
at least not in big sedans/SUVs
hell even the C63 AMG is going to be a turbo 4
I can agree to that.
next generation
So the reasons to not buy an Accord or Sonata continue to decrease.
the new sonata is...interesting
Why buy a Mercedes when you can get a more reliable car.
I like the headlights, though the droopy grille isn't my favourite
the new Optima looks lit though
Hell... give me a Nissan.
The new optima is nice except for the tail lghts
Arguably the Sonata. I can't help but think the hand of god is squishing it down like a sleeping cat.
I like the headlights on sonata but the corners of the grille droop down
and thats not my favourite
overall it looks decent
The new G90 is f*cking ugly though
its absolutely heinously ugly
The entire car is kind of half-circly, but squeezed down.
I'm guessing the Optima looks better than the name sounds.
No, I'm not interested in time shares.
they might rename it to the K5
they call it the K5 everywhere else
Alpha numerics are dumb.
Especially when automakers try it.
MKS is bigger than the MKZ, and the MKX isn't a car, but an SUV.
oof
There is no MKY
surprised ford didn't sue tesla over the Model S and the Mark S lincoln
Odds are 4 doors, evens are 2 doors
except when theyre not
Gran coupe*
Also it doesn't apply to SUVs
Also the rest of the numbers have no bearing on reality.
Mercedes meanwhile
used to keep it by engine size approximately but nOt AnYMoRE
It's a C63 AMG , but it's not the AMG C63, also don't forget the AMG Sport C62.
They're all V6s.

and Lexus. LOL. Their Hybrids are usually 100 higher in the RX 350 -> RX 450h, because hybrids are 100 better. Apparently.
At least they treat the hybrids as one level up.
yet
I don't see them doing it.
there WAS however the Lexus LS600hL
LS big sedan
600 big engine
h hybrid
L long wheel base
yeah
That still has a logical progression.
... sure?
CT: Crebadged TPrius
The C and T are silent.
hmmmm
BMW X4 xDrive30i or
BMW X4 M40i
The 30i has a 2.0 liter engine, the M40i has a 3 liter engine... okay... sure?
e is carbureted?
apparently RX = Radiant crossover for whatever reason
no
e is partially electric
or all electric
oh, used to be the fuel economy trim.
Phallic Hybrid Evocative Visuals?
yes I know what it means.
After a point the acronyms lose all meaning to me.
Because despite Plug In being two words, it's not in PHEV.
They might as well abbreviate it all to just P. Plug-in-hybrid-vehicle... like the last bit is even relevant. Is there a PHEB or PHEP?
But you can understand my saltiness on acronyms.
The death of the i3 and i8 was a mistake.
I quite liked the i8
it wasn't crazy fast or anything but it wasn't really intended to be
All automakers have dedicated EV platforms.
(also you can get them used for like 55k)
Except for BMW... who moved EVERYTHING to 2 platforms.
NX stands for Nimble Crossover... uhhhhh
idk, they have weird names
yes, and with a 3.5 V6 hot hatch version
Just put a bigger grill on the Corolla hatchback, and sell the hybrid version here.
450hp
if the air compressor fails
I ordered those long ass tweezers
so one way or another, those little shits are coming out of that well
could just buy a new engine /s
and jesus christ, I will lather the new plugs in anti-seize
we put some on mine when we swapped plugs
I didn't put any on the RX-7, but with how easy it is to access the plugs, even the porcelain shattering is no big deal at all
well I'd be more concerned about stripping the holes
weird
just straight onto the side of the block
#rotarylyfe
its raining and I'm concerned its giong to fork up my engine
the engine cover still hasnt been put back
the plastic one?
lmao
I doubt it
the electrics in engine bays are designed to take a beating
you can technically pressure wash them without fear, but pressure washing is actually more of a absolute worst case scenario (besides being submerged)
i recall doug mocking the mitsubishi mirage for being able to see the ground below the engine
apparently my car is worse than the mirage
๐
just driving through or sitting in rain, you've got nothing to fear
you can see the ground underneath it
if you can see the ground underneath the engine, that just means you don't have a skidplate
which you only really need if you're going offroad, and more so rock crawling than mudding
I can see ground in the Prius too, barely cause its all so packed together, but I can
there's lots of space in my car
just in the wrong places
lol
turbo kit for rx300 when
just kidding, not possible on this car.
nah, one guy did it and his trans lasted literally 1 week
it would just involve a fuck ton of custom fabrication
well you'd also get a tranny that isn't shit
i don't think you even can, the trans in this is super weird
there's no real alternative
as long as the bolts line up, you can fit anything
if the trans tunnel doesn't allow, you just need a hammer and make space
there isn't a trans tunnel
ah, transverse
the floor is flat all the way back
also you'd have to replace the ecus
and stuff
its electronically controlled trans
aren't most autos somewhat electronically controlled?
probably the really really old ones
well lexus put ECT all over the car, so they were clearly proud of their shitty transmission
80s probably finally started getting some electrics in there
you could also just say fuck it and go manual too
turbo stick shift RX300
does it have a console/dash shifter?
ye
ah, then manual swap would probably suck
(i also can't drive stick)
I tried in my grandpa's old truck and it really didn't go well
how old
'87 F150 iirc
hmmm
it should have syncrhos
strange, I can see how that might make it annoying
but in trucks, you don't really need gas to get going cause they have torks for days
god damn
automagical ftw
I'm not dealing with bullshit like that every day
fighting with the car to make it go
only car we have that's stick is my dad's lifted bronco
which isnt'....
uhh
safe/easy
lol
so yeah ill stick with easy automatics. manual is too damn difficult.
as a beginner you shouldn't drive on roads with much traffic
and don't worry, I could barely even get the car to crawl forward at all when i first tried
If you really really really fuck up, yea
long as you know to never move the stick when the clutch isn't pressed, you shouldn't fuck it up too badly
and do regular fluid changes, cause manual trans likes that
You aren't missing much tbh
It's more of a thing you want in a fun car
whether that's a 500hp supercar, or a 120hp beat up Civic that you thrash around like it's worth less than the cost of the gas to put in it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrqN6A85W8s So a bit more news on the Sony Auto.
Sony has unveiled an electric car -- yes, an actual car -- at CES today. It's the first prototype vehicle under Sony's mobility efforts called the Vision-S initiative, and based on what the tech giant said during its press event, it was built to showcase the automotive techno...
oh are they actually making it?
@civic girder Have you done anything on your Prius?
Not since earlier
Going to borrow an air compressor from a friend tomorrow and see if I can make progress. If not, I ordered those tweezers as a backup plan
Yea, this is the second time second car has saved my ass
Cause you'd be screwed without the RX-7
Yea, luckily I don't have work until this weekend and school doesn't start till Monday
I want to say Sony won't be making this car.
They're just flexing their tech to investors. That's my take.
I wonder how many Sony things my car uses.
Magna built the car.
Tesla Model Sony. Tesla Model S underneath all the fancy Sony head units and speakers
I'd say Magna is a step up from anything Tesla makes.
A very boutique solution that makes far more sense than it should.
I've never heard of Magna
Magna Steyr I believe. Same guys who make the BMW Z4 and Supra, and a few other cars.
They're basically a specialty manufacturer a lot of other automakers contract to build lower volume cars.
so kind of like Pinafarina, but production instead of design?
A couple of Jaguar models, the G-class still, and limited BMW 5-series production.
yep
Ok, makes sense
They also apparently do development work, engineering, as well as assembly.
That could be a new goal in the future. Buy a car made by Magna.
Also they do concepts it appears.
nice
so its a copout for manufacturers who cba to do it themselves?
I wouldn't say so.
Those are some frickin bright reverse lights.
Lol. I replaced the reverse lights on my car to LEDs.
To the driver, they're brighter, but not by drastically.
To outsiders, I'm sure they're much brighter.
I also replaced the mid-dome light, and holy crap is that bright.
Lights up the car like if I was surrounded by cops or something x'D
My truck has nothing but LEDs in it.
I'm going to eventually replace almost all of the lights on my car to LEDs.
Just not the headlights, cause I don't wanna have to worry about accidentally blinding people. (Also, I can see just fine)
I want to do my brakes, tails, and indicators with LEDs. Side markers and parking lights would be nice, but I don't feel like they're necessary. Reverse is good enough and the halogen headlights are plenty bright already
I changed my brake lights to LEDs a few days ago.
I also learned that my car has a "brake lamp" light on the dash, when it sees that the current is too low, that same day.
I would advise against LED tails unless you get a whole assembly that's meant for LEDs. otherwise it's like putting HIDs in your stock headlight housing, just gets annoyingly bright
just my opinon, they still look good
Who would win, two LED bulbs or a pitch black garage
x3
the outer lenses on my stock tails are pretty dark imo
the colored inner lenses don't help because they are pretty thicc
Whack
I know my car has brake lamp indicator too
found out because when I first got the car, the "Stop Lamp" light would come on whenever you touch the brake pedal
Rotary f i r e b a l l s
lmao
true
but I'm not sure if defeating the anti-afterburn will fuck my exhaust and blow up my cat or not
I can align with this pinned post.
oh neat
I also don't want to melt anything at the back, lmao
cars section
woah
Yep.
Woah
when did my apex seals get a discord account?!?!?!?
The one and only apex seals
It's where all the cool kids hang out.
Did you leave @civic girder's engine yet
I think that's a you problem
I enjoy 8 bangers more ๐
lol u rite
My parents 8 banger has 16 sparky bois
big brain time
Is it a Hemi?
gotta post my boosty boys
Oh.
Look at that FC
yep
Hemis have dual spark plugs.
Damn, nice
@civic girder Just get a diesel, they don't have spark plugs that can break.
Yeah I only need the fronts
diesel swap Prius
Just because uh 4 pistons sounds pretty good compared to my single pistons
Yeah.
Then I need VW Corrado rotors so they're bigger
and a Volvo brake line bracket hue
You should 12 valve Cummins swap a Prius.
I actually wouldn't be apposed to slapping an na disel 4 banger into the Prius and bolting it into the hybrid system
top speed in the rx7 is 141mph
top speed of the wrx was slower at 134 actually
lol
the speedo in my 7 is......optimistic
lol
Quarter mile in eventually
wanna see how i found out the rx7 top speed
X to doubt the 12A can do 130
like, actual, not theoretical lol
This is still whack
One big hill, and a 300 shot of giggle gas
two rotary bois now
one boosted
ye
blown, but i'm going REW now
ruh roh
oof
no ls for me
My Dads old Chevy K10 gets to 60 mph by noon. If you start in the morning.
You want a unique engine
efi bad
i have a boxer and rotary
carb good
I too would like a boxer
I have a friend with 6 boxer cars.
How about STi
I would prefer STi, but they expensive
Is it true that the bottom of the pistons on a boxer wear easily?
thats me laughing lol
oof
Pardon?
those rotors look a little chaffed too
what is mic quality
Galaxy Note 2 wew lad
My smog pump is dead weight
normally they do idle at 2k until warm
well, til the cat is warm
i never learned to do a real good burnout
hitting where it hurts ey
lmao
See now that's what you need
My 600+ whp Duramax will do a burnout at the blip of the throttle.
i miss that interior
nothing feels quite as good as an 80's sports car with a manual steering rack
What do you mean?
the raw feeling, you can feel everything the wheels are doing
No power steering?
yeah, my TII is manual rack from the factory
I don't think its that bad
i do still get to have fun in the wagon
It's what my truck has.
but only with snow/ice
ball style has lots of play, but it works great
sooo
bottom turbo is the stock fc turbo, turbo on the right is going on the wrx, and the big un is going on the new motor. aiming for 400-450whp initially, then upgrading it to handle 500whp. its a cummins VGT turbo.
damn
This is the cold start procedure for my FB RX-7, the video ends when the engine is warm enough to hold idle (aka, warm enough to drive); however, the engine is still cold and will have to be short shifted below 3 thousand rpm until it reaches operating temperature.
For thos...
here we go
sigh
this is just pissin me off tho, cant figure out how to fix this, computer problem. seemingly nobody else knows how to either
what's going on?
drive/folder permissions
oof, those can be a pain
i described it in tech support
I'll jump over and take a gander
my daily has a spark........issue
these, likely, 90k mile spark plugs were just awful
it started misfiring, and then the first plug came out cracked
2nd one fell apart before it even came out
haven't been able to get the shards out yet
Yea
hopefully using an air compressor to dislodge the shards and then grabbing them with vacuum works
if not, I ordered some 19 inch tweezers that should do the trick
Forgot to plug in the truck that keeps the engine warm and now I gotta wait 20 minutes after I plugged it in grrr
Diesels are like cold-blooded reptiles
They hate the cold
Do you really have to preheat it?
It's an old 1993 pickup at 800 thousand miles I don't wanna force it to start lol
It's a Toyota pickup that says YO
The to and ta got rusted out
We made progress. There's only one shard left
yay
I don't preheat my car cause it seems to start fine in winter
Tho it's 43f outside rn so that's not that cold for machines
I don't preheat my truck unless it's 15ยฐ or lower.
My van doesn't need to be preheated.
@fathom socket
Well. I got new plugs in, but now there is a strange rattle. Kinda sounds like something is loose
