That's not exactly accurate Eastman, but it is very odd that it just failed sitting there
only offer a loaner AFTER they find out
yea, I bet that's why
The car that's famous for being unreliable.
the model 3 has proved itself quite reliable in the aggregate
Though there are for sure some lemons
Even our problem-prone Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio was at least able to limp to the dealer following each one of its numerous issues.
I mean, the dude drove it to his parents house and then couldn't get home
at least my RX-7 was able to kick the fuel pump into submission to get me home (numerous times)
mhm, they got a problem ridden one. That's a weird thing with Tesla cars
The issue happening... fine.
The reliable ones seem Rock solid, or you get one that had constant problems
The reaction to the issue is not great.
Not much in between
The reliable ones aren't any better, but the owners are willing to deal with shit.
yea, and I can confirm the only real problem I've ever really experienced with the 7 was the fuel pump. I've had a couple other weird issues, but I can't seem to repeat them; and most others were maintenance related and have been solved
Like misaligned panels, panel gaps, and other "quirks"
I'm not Doug Demuro, so I'm not very tolerant of quirks in my car.
I've had a number of issues with my RX, but it's 20 y/o.
had to replace vcg, burns a bit of oil, the weird knocking thing I've not figured out, it's really making me question the reputation that Toyota has
I get that it's 20 years old, but it's only at 133k miles.
at 133k miles, though.
My Accord had the gaskets begin to go at the 15 year mark.
Not the usual 250k associated with 20 years old.
Rubber degrading isn't mileage based, it's time.
The oil burning I mean.
oh, that
Older Toyotas do like to burn a bit of oil sometimes. Usually at cold starts. But as long as you keep an eye on it, it won't die, becuase its a toyota
Or maybe you were leaking oil.
And if you have VVT, that's something that can use oil.
I know Honda's VTEC was notoriously oil thristy.
My friend has an 06 Camry that burns oil when the engine is cold
I swear on a stack of bibles that it feels like it has moods, some days are better than others
Older cars do.
Mine seems to do it at sustained high revs on the highway
interesting
I know my Suzuki was cranky in the cold.
(70mph = 3k rpm)
That sounds...
A bit weird?
Honestly I don't remember what the average RPM range is for 4 speed autos.
bruh, I think my RX-7 likes me. Like, even when the second fuel pump was on it's way out the door, the car kept reviving it so I could get home.
Mine has something to do with the primitive learning ecu, that it changes adaptations and sometimes it gets it right and other times it doesn't
in terms of moods
and even when it was like 14 degrees, it started up instantly. A fucking carbureted rotary started immediately after sitting outside in a snowstorm all night
and I think the vvti tries to engage or something at 2950rpm or something like that because it sounds funny if I sit there. If I increase speed a bit it doesn't sound weird, or slow down
Just before the 3k mark is where it happens. Probably thats where it eats oil.
that's probably where it's confused on whether to change shit with the VVTi or not
and so the cams and shit are going wild, and some oil slips into the cylinders
yeah
so when I'm in a 70 zone I set CC at 73.
That keeps it high enough to avoid the funny business
yea
Though most often i drive in 60mph zones so it's a non issue
if only the RX-7 had cc
except I am kinda glad it doesn't for a number of reasons
Cruise works well on my car but it obnoxiously doesn't work below 25mph
I mean, the Prius cruise won't work below 25 either
but I found a way to cheat the system
how
doesn't work on mine, I've tried that lol.
it works on the Prius, so idk
Even if it's set at 26, and starts to go up hill and lose a bit of speed it disengages
but I only did it like once as a meme
I usually don't use cruise in the Prius, unless it's highway or 55+ country roads
Damn, I would love another 2 gears in my car tho.
When you're at 55mph or something and try to pass, sometimes it's not a fun shift to 2nd
Where it goes up to like 4500, then once you pass 63 or so it goes back to 3rd
Then 4th once you let off
IDK how high 3rd goes
Not gonna test the theory
I would estimate 90.
maybe higher
For the Prius that would be a slight lurch as the CVT yeets and then the 1.4banger screams up to 5k rpm and stays there
For the RX-7, that would be a clutch in, shift from 5th to 3rd, some gas, let off clutch nicely and then add throttle and start screaming in rotary
(accelerating from 55)
I know the RX-7's 3rd goes up to about 72 ish
I've tested that (in a 65 zone)
According to the internet, Prius has a computer limited top speed of like 115 (possibly lower, idk exactly, haven't tested it myself)
72 in a 65 isn't reckless or insane. at least imo. That's about par here.
Mines limited to 112.
I don't drive insanely fast, usually speed limit around town, then speed limit + tax on the highway
I think most Japanese cars are limited to that.
~180 km/h
With Volvo to follow soon.
Parents cars are limited to 123, but they could easily go far beyond that id imagine
Unless the trans can't handle it, too low of gearing. Not sure.
The speedo on the RX-7 says 130, but I think that's being optimistic
4th gear probably only goes to about 100, and 5th gear is overdrive
My 2nd tops out at I think around 65-70
But that's a bit uncomfortably high revs
To slam into on highway.
the tranny can probably do 130, but I doubt the 12A can do much after 110
(that's not redline)
What happens when it reaches 112 mph. Note continued pressing of the gas and reluctance of vehicle to want to go further. This is going north on the toll road that wraps around the west to north part of Mexico City and Mexico State.
looks like it could do a bit more
Not a lot more mind you, but maybe could hit 120 with premium fuel, no roof racks etc
It might be fuel delivery limited
idk
cutoff sounds like fuel pump can't supply enough juice
I hate it when autocorrect capitalizes stuff like that.
maybe, idk. I don't plan to go that fast.
Not in that car at least.
I don't have a death wish
w e a k
make it a race car when you get a new daily
tbh idk what I'd get for a daily
Genesis g70 is amazing but super impractical, Model 3 isn't depreciating
So idk.
Probably a Stinger.
Lol
just get a Prius
economic, reliable, cheap
speaking of Prius, I'm 98% sure my fuel gauge is waaaaaaaaay off
idk man, the Stinger is a nicely depreciating car
In a couple years it's gonna be downright cheap
for what it is
how much?
jesus christ
idk, I would probably avoid that like the plague if it were me, but idk
Why tho?
If you buy it already heavily depreciated, you're not taking the brunt of the impact
$20k depreciation in two years with barely any miles? That sounds sketch af to me
especially for what they are
not really. Few want a 50k sedan from Kia.
People want SUVs, or the luxury brand name
Or usually both
The Stinger is neither of those
And I know a guy who has one. Stingers are really meh to me. Interior sucks, particularly in the seat department.
all the sedans that aren't Accord/Camry/Corolla are depreciating like crazy
the leather interior Stinger is downright awful
I didn't mind the interior aside from the steering wheel
That material is disgusting
(which, incidentally, is easily rectified)
I sat in the back and it was bad
that's why I prefer the G70
front didn't look any better
But the g70 is super impractical
but the interior is amazing
And it drives better than Stinger
bear in mind I have a rx300 right now lul
my coworker who has one slides in every corner under power cause the traction control can't even keep up
It corners terribly
like
YIKES.
the g70 is dynamically and aesthetically Superior, as well as interior quality
But the trunk is tiny
I'm excited to see what they do with the GV70
that could be perfect
For me
depends on what you would ever need to transport
I've put TV's in my Rx
the RX-7 is technically a hatchback, so it is surprisingly roomy in cargo
I'd need to compare that to one of my cars, since I have no idea what that means in real terms
83
apparently the Prius only has 14.4 cubic feet, which smells like bs to me
Prius has chonk trunk, plus the rear seats fold down
That's the stinger?
Same engine
365hp twin turbo v6, zf 8hp trans
Interior is frickin amazing on the g70
Far nicer than Stinger
This shit triggers me so hard
Why?
I HATE the stupid screens that stick up out of nowhere
it ruins the clean flowing style of the interior
meh, not a pet peeve for me. I like having some tech so I'll take it.
IMO, you either need to integrate the screen into the console or not have one at all
If you ignore that, the rest of it is simply amazing.
I think it's hard to do integrated screens right
idk, the Prius screen is done right to me
Model S/X screen looks far worse than model 3, the ones in our explorer and Taurus are decent but too much plastic around them
Mines fairly well integrated
This is done well
But it's not a touchscreen
even the Prius touchscreen is total ass
tho idk what's going on with that shift lever
It's not like that in ours
The rest is the same tho
You gonna go into warp 9 with this one Captain Kirk? lmfao
but yea, that Ford interior is decent. Except that the Ford software is complete garbage
honestly
MyFordTouch is actually not terribly laid out, it's just slow
and the damn screen is resistive touch instead of capacitive
Oh its terribly laid out, trust me
not really
my dad's Fusion is a pain to navigate
It's easy to get to anything besides navigation
ok hold up what version of the software do you have?
no idea
MyFordTouch, Sync 3, etc.
I think it's Ford Sync, but I have no idea what version
I do know it's not a touchscreen. It's all buttons surrounding the screen
yeah not what we have. Ok. Makes much more sense.
That one is truly terrible.
We have the 2nd pic, 4 quadrants one.
It's kinda slow but not terrible.
yikes, still looks kinda bad
it's not bad to use, but slow.
oh god, the Lexus is even worse
it has a mouse
and it has 0 relevant info to anything
like, they call it infotainment, I expect it to have something useful on it, like mpg or something
In the Prius, I have it set to the graph. It tracks mpg in 5 minute intervals and displays current mpg with a bar
Now that is useful
that's an ugly steering wheel lmao
Nah, I hate Ford wheels, they are way to thick and have awkward lumps for """""ergonomics"""""
I use 9 and 3 for the shift paddles when I drive it ๐
My dad has a 2015 Fusion Hybrid
Imagine using both hands while driving ๐
I really do wish it had dials for climate temp and fam speed instead of the touch buttons though.
I hate dials for climate control
No dials ftw
99.9% of time they have no haptic feedback
id take that over TAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAP
so you usually will set it too high or too low
For 20 seconds
yea, + and - buttons suck too
Ok well I'm a bad example because mines set at 90F the entire winter pretty much
Dials "click" when you go up too?
it's always on Max hot pretty much.
^
Mine clicks aside from the volume for some reason (never did, not like it broke it just doesn't)
the only real ways to do it are sliders (like in the RX-7) or a button that selects exactly what speed you want (or temp). The only thing I dislike about the Prius climate control is the temperature controls, cause you have to tap up or down a million times
but in the Prius, you can just press a button and get perfect fan speed
The explorer and taurus is capacitive touch buttons
Sliders don't give haptic feedback xD
And it's terrible +/- ones too
the sliders in the RX-7 have haptic feedback
Ford cooled seats are the BEST in the summer tho
each setting has a notch that the slider will notch into when you select it
literally the best.
and the RX-7 doesn't use symbols like modern cars
Bacon and Gmail ftw!
so it's no arrow pointed at the dudes knee
it's called "heat"
and then for floor and top vents it's called bi-level
recirc is "Max A/C"
and defrost is defrost symbol
My favourite setting is floor and windshield so it doesn't dry out my eyes
The RX-7 doesn't need that setting
then once its hot I turn it on floor and middle on 2 fan ticks to keep my hands and feet warm
it's a cheap 80s sports car
fair enough. Can't even hear my engine idling inside the car once it's warm.
all you have is a bit of carpet and the firewall
hardly know it's there
surprisingly quiet on the highway
Some wind rush but not excessive
In the summer, you have to wear shorts, ankle socks, and well-ventilated shoes or your lower half will bake
yikes
If I go full AC I will freeze my ass off
my car is largely pretty well insulated I think
even setting the a/c on bilevel won't save your legs from becoming dinner
Tho heat escapes thru the sunroof

Everybody knows this us the best interior/steeringwheel/heater controls design
So I keep that closed in winter
the fuck
WHAT IN GODS NAME IS THAT
is that monstrosity
It's the Fiat Multipla
I must purge my eyes with the One True interior
Nah Opel interiors have always been very conservative
wdym, the RX-7 interior is literal perfection
Not sexy but comfortable and decent quality for 1999.
There is not a single fault in that 80s Mazda interior design. There's nothing I would change about it
https://www.manners.nl/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Opel-Corsa-3.jpg
Climate controls are very easy to use tho ๐ But it's the manual version
Mines easy to use too

those dial climate control are ok
cause they don't suck like modern ones
ok, its 2 AM, I should go to bed
yes they are, I hate mode buttons
just give me a button for each mode so I can pick which one
you're deluded lmao, those are the best way of doing it
Its a mess of buttons otherwise
Having an individual button for everything = mess
Best one are 3 seperate buttons for the air direction imho (up, to you and to your feet) so you can make all different combinations yourself
that nav system is Aids tho. Mine is different apart from the climate controls. Those the the same.
Are the same*
Stuff above climate is different in mine
waiiiit.
Is it a touchscreen?!
wtf
I don't see the row of buttons below the screen that my car has
..
Is it touch?
mmm yes
my screen seems super durable, can hardly see any broken ones on forums and stuff
Google rx300 broken screen and a bunch of Vapes show up.
Unlike the old pixel screens on the BMWs and stuff that have all failed
The Rx300 screen is weird as f*ck tho. I'll get a video of the weirdness tomorrow.
The LCD screen in my E46 haven't failed (yet).

I also really like the AC controls in the car. Along with the 'temp dial'.
tape deck
I have a Pioneer android head unit in my truck.
Along with Infinity Refrence speakers.
And one JL audio 10 inch sub.
The speakers were super cheap on Amazon.
The only place where I'd place a sub in my car is right over the battery.
Like this.
Toyota is getting better and better at making nice interiors
The colour scheme is kind of similar yeah
It's the same.
hehe yeah boi
let 'er rip
Blower motor resistor
AC controls for the E46 ๐
That old Megane has factory heated seats ๐
Heated seats are nice. ๐

these meganes were kinda luxury for the price
@stoic ledge those are the only thinks that work correctly
if we dont count the radio
Carb is bae @warm epoch

Gotta love my 4 barrel Nikki
photo from last year
oof
looks like you need a wet rag in there
I think that's somehow even dustier than my engine bay was when i first got the car
i got a bottle of degreaser and a presser washer im just waiting till summer
you actually don't want to pressure wash your engine bay
I recommend licking the parts individually
im not going to blast it with it its got a cone mode for light spray just enough to knock the crap off
this has ~6 years of dirt, dust and, rust on it and lots of leaves under the hood
and mouse poop
car sit for a long time
it really needs a new frame but taking the body off and putting a new one on is uhhhhhhhh yeah
My car sat for 15 years and is a lot cleaner
yeah my car sit in Alabama for a long time then the guy that i got it from had it for ~5 years and was going to yank the motor and yeet the car but then i got it for $500
mine needs a good cleaning, the engine is covered in oil lol
ima yeet that little motor out of mine when i get the money for a 396
My little Mazda is never going to have anything other than a 12A if I can help it. Worst comes to worst, it'll get a 13B with a carb swap.
Rained non-stop today. So no car washing for me I suppose.
I haven't wanted to wash my car since it's missing one of the lenses for the license plate lights.
And new ones haven't arrived yet.
My engine bay is dirty.
There's no oil though.
My van is leaking coolant from somewhere.
I replaced the radiator cap.
And the upper hose when I found it leaking.
I think it's coming from the thermostat housing.
I should flush my steering fluid
I should probably change my steering rack oil too. But the steering feels good, despite lots of play (but it is not rack and pinion, so it is normal for there to be play).
my diff fluid needs to get flushed tho, I can feel it
yea, lemme just drive across the entire country
my diff is really easy to get to, I just need to get around to doing it
I'm going to flush my diff fluid when I change to an LSD.
I am going to switch rear ends eventually, but the availability is pretty limited
so for now, I need working open diff
I showed some pics of your car to my dad and he loves it too
Trippin' on some LSD
welded diff on a car that barely works in the first place
plus my fuel eco would get even worse and I'd eat rear tires
How you know you're driving correctly
I just have no idea which LSD that I want to go for.
I have to go with a rear LSD out of a higher trim level car, otherwise I'd have to shorten an axle and get a custom driveshaft
I have thought about getting a Quaife kit or something
you have IRS?
The other more expensive option is an M3 subframe and diff hue
no not you LOL
Funnily enough, someone swapped a 350z rear subframe into a Mk4 golf
:megathink:
I'm pretty sure that the E46 is IRS...
ok
then you have less pain
because my car has live axle
so my choices are extremely limited

bought a nissan 350z rear suspension and keep in mind you don't need a lift, just really tall jackstands

But sadly I'm not

Oh, I'm not surprised its a thing
I'm just over here going smh because that sounds really fucking stupid
Lmfao
A Quaife diff kit for me is like โฌ1,000
This is pretty much what I would have to get. https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/bmw-E46/1977556-new?product=33878130
Just have to figure out what diff I currently have.
http://www.bokchoys.com/differential/GearRatios.htm this is for amercan models but some corresponds to european too
Hah. I have a non-American model. 320i
It's the casting of the casing that I need to find out about.
dont remember how i got mine, but its a 3,38
yeah was just about to link that ๐
ahaha think there is something wrong tho, i have a coupe, and it says "car class" - car.info = Big family car
searched with license plate nr
it's nice when you can find a volvo 240 for less than a pc
Here's a Volvo 240 I bought
It was cheaper than a gaming PC
its got 300k miles on it
How much? Does it run and drive?
It drives perfectly fine, we drove it 300 miles back to my house
I got it for $800
Damn, that's a really good deal actually... As long as it doesnt break down...
@neon raven pog
AHHHHHHH
me irl
https://i.redd.it/2y9xxlonuk841.jpg Toyota Popemobile.
IT isn't a G-Wagon, but it is better for the environment.
and more reliable too
I don't remember if the Papal wagon was built in Germany or Austria.
If Austria, I wouldn't dismiss it too fast.
Was built, but has moved production in house from what I've heard.
Apparently quality dropped sharply after the move away from Austria.
Probably why the Pope changed to hydrogen. Still bizarre to see the pope visit Japan. I forgot there are western religious elements in Japan.
Original G-Wagon was also very reliable
I don't think many countries would be like ah yes, lets buy this unreliable vehicle for our military
๐ณ๐ฑ : laughs in unreliable Amarok 2.0TDI
That's a Subaru... isn't it.
Looks like an Impreza to me, yes
ur a bus
Oh hey it's JD
@fair bronze i just received my rim to hopefully fix the issue I've had with my car, (the front right wheel) and inspecting the rim I've found this marking on the inner side of the rim (also this guy didn't clean the rim AT ALL so it's pretty disgusting, is this rim okay to put on a car?
This is the only marking that seems a little sketchy otherwise it looks fine just really needs a cleaning
Im not sure what that is since I've only bent a rim. This looks like something was chipped off or shaven, im just worried it will cut the tire or something
I imagine you can take a file to round off any sharp edges. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and say you should be fine since the scratch is on the outside portion of the lip.
Ehh i don't mind aesthetics that much when it comes to wheels/rims, (except this rim is God awfully dirty compared to all of the other rims ๐ ) my cars got a good little bit of paint scrapped off from the previous owner on the back bumper
But this rim that they shipped looks like it went through at least 9 sessions off mudding before being sent to me ๐
I'm sure youtube has some nice tutorials on cleaning if you need help.
Okay, im guessing a spray down with a hose wouldn't do too good?
If it's caked on/baked on... prolly not.
I imagine you'll need some good soap, a wheel brush, and some time.
Also, should I tell the mechanic to go ahead and balance the car and stuff while I'm there? Since I mean this one pothole I hit fucked up 2 rims on the same side at the same time?
Front one is just bad enough to make the ride fucking terrifying about 55+ mph but bumpy at 40+ mph
No air is being lost from the front tire
But the back rim was pretty messed up and messed up the tire with it
If replacing repairing wheels/suspension.
Absolutely do a balance and potentially an alignment.
How much will that jack the cost up? I have only 144 bucks after purchasing the rim, the replacement for the rear rim was 110 but thats also because i had to buy a new tire
Alignment... by a lot.
A wheel balance should be part of the cost of getting the tires mounted.
By a lot meaning?
Depends on the shop.
50-200 dollars.
Then again if your car doesn't feel weird when driving it. Should be fine.
This shop is a smaller one that my grandpa's buddy owns, so it may not be the maximum price (I hope) but still. My car does go towards the right when letting go of the steering wheel but I've always thought that was just the rim. Could that also be alignment?
yes
My car is a 2006 nissan sentra S SE
If the car is pulling to the side on a straight road, could be alignment.
So idk if older cards cost more or not
Shouldn't matter tbh.
Though if it is to the right, could just be the road.
Check it on several different roads if you can.
I've found most roads do this
Could be worth an alignment. Especially if you haven't in a while imo.
To be honest I've had this car a year in February and i don't know the last time its been re aligned
I know when I bought the car the power steering was leaking so bad we had to buy a $1000+ part to fix it
damn
big oof
yikes
we had to replace the whole thing
Ya haha
So should I just say fuck it and do realignment too? Even tho it might be out of my budget?
Dunno. That's on you. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it.
When i got my car aligned, they charged 98$. Idk how much it is where you are
So checking the old repair order, it says TTT Mount and Balance One Tire costed 15 bucks for labor and 84 bucks for the parts
Im guessing the 84 bucks was purchasing the new wheel
Do you have uneven tire wear or anything?
Oh dear uneven tire
My alignment forked up the front tires so now they live in the rear of the car where theyre less sketchy
Cause I can't afford 1200$ for tires atm
Joys of modern big chungus alloys I guess?
225/75r16 isba weird size
So it's hard to find
I don't think 16in counts as big chungus alloys
oh, just tires. misread. My b
The joys of tiny wheels
ni||ce car||
Tires for both my cars are c h e a p
My mom's explorer required 255/50r20 and it ended up 1095$
Wow
Wtf
It was $1000 for Continental DWS06s for the 315s and 275s
Where you getting your tires lol
Jesus
I don't want to think about tire costs.
The 255/50r20 is nasty size
Yikes
225/45R18's aren't gonna be fun to pay for.
I got 15 in all seasons for the Prius, at Costco, for like $150, then was about $200 total because labor
Might do some tire shopping and see if I can't get something better.
Interestingly if I upgraded to the 18's from the newer Rx it would be cheaper to get both rims and new tires
I wanna go to a 235/40/17 from my 215/40/17 tbh
Than just tires for my 16s
Joys of only being able to fit small tires
Might look into 17s if cheaper.
Depends on the wheel offset or something?
I just called the people that did my other tire/rim they said replacing it should only be 15 bucks they said they just got a new realignment machine and it won't be set up till next week but will only be 65 bucks
nice
When you have beeg meats
Lol i can give you the place ๐คฃ its in a small ass town tho
315s be meaty
Needs 24" spinners
LMAO
I can't wait to have stiff sidewalls again.
I dig that second RX.
I have no issues with my tail getting away from me. My issue is just feeling how much the sidewalls are flexing when I turn the wheel in corners.
195/65R15, I think?
Y'alls tires are small.
Your tires are too big
You want slimmer tires and lots of meat on the winter tires.
Mine are 285/75/17
calm down
Those are uhh, tires for a lifted car?
Not car.
"Only"
About the size of an average American hamburger
My summer tires are 205/55R16. If I remember right.
I could have 44 inch super swampers.
May, or may not get Michelin Pilotsport 4 for my car when spring comes around.
Normally just called Michelin PS4.
PS4S isn't available for my car.
I've heard of the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tire.
Tho, the PS4S would very likely be overkill for me.
This is the tyre I have.
I remember driving the RX-7 on rotted tires
every corner felt like the tires were gonna explode
My van wears Michelin Defender LTX m/s 2's
I should put those Wrangler tyres on my Corsa
Now that would be interesting
The Prius doesn't have OEM tires. They're not even special eco tires. Just regular ass Michelin all seasons
Do it!!!
I have Defender LTX on my car rn
I'll probably stick to all seasons in the future.
I like being able to drive in the rain.
the RX-7 has OEM spec tires, but some random ass brand I've never heard of (but not Chinese), and are all seasons cause I won't race it
This is the tires that my van has.
It has pretty good traction in the winter for all seasons.
But I'll probably get some nicer tires on the 7 next time. Some Westlake or Toyo Tires all seasons with a sportier compound
This is my current tire.
What's the load range on your tire?
Yokohama also makes brilliant sports tires
Hakkapeliitta R3
Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 195/65R15 95R XL
Yours definitely is not a load range E.
Enough for my car.
Your car doesn't need to hold 4,000lb in the rear.
OOF

Also I have merch
ltt store dot com
And hit the Bell to turn on notification
Yeah.
Speaking of shameless plugs... SquareSpace, build it beautiful.
reminds me of moistcritcal plugging his Twitch
I miss that slogan lol
I have the LTT water bottle, and it's really nice
I have a water bottle from some place somewhere.
It's been working fine for 5 years.
I love Linus's sponsor segways.
I do hope Toyota releases some performance parts for my car soon. That would be nice.
You know what's even better with the sponsor segways?
When they do the segway, but there isn't a sponsor spot. ๐
lol
I was gonna say sponsor hoverboards.
Linus has some weird opinions about stuff
One of many.
I need a new phone.
And figure out a decent phone mount for my car.
Might try to reuse the old-ass mount for the Nokia phone that came with the car.
I want a mount, but I don't wanna deal with tape, glue and other shit.
The old mount is honestly in a good position.
Would just have to see if I can reuse the metal plate that they are using. And if I might even use the old wires for power.
How hard can it be to make a sturdy phone mount that doesn't look like crap
I just want wireless charging for when I use the phone in my car.
Shouldn't be too expensive to manufacture either
Just want a place to have it for navigation/music
I currently just keep it right infront of the gear lever. Fits pretty well there.
But it likes to open that lid every so often, and skid around if I take corners too hard.
for music, I just set it and forget it, I don't bother with skipping tracks. Shouldn't have to skip if my playlist is fire.
For nav, I just look at the route carefully before I set off, then I also use the voice prompts to give me queues for things I don't see. Or, if I have a passenger, I make them navigate
Flying down either on my passenger side, or driver side.
In the truck I connect via bluetooth, and just start my music before I get going.
And can skip track, etc on the headunit.
I had a mount but it was a fat waste of money
suction cup kept falling off, was super shit
I can't recall a time I skipped a track while playing music in the car in the last year
wow
I only really want it for navigation
I use the buttons on my fm transmitter or my Echo Auto to change track
I mainly want it for navigation.
I inspect routes before I leave so that I don't have to rely on the navigation completely, and I hate having to glance away from the road to look at the phone
Though, might see if I can setup the old phone stuff with a new one.
I end up driving in places I've never been before fairly often (selling sh*t)
Since my car is wired with a microphone and everything.
Relying on GPS while driving my work truck is pain.
I don't mind doubling back or stopping to check maps
Alexa is sh*t at giving directions, so I'd rather use google maps
Oh, derp. Links not allowed.
At least not shortended ones.
Always fun when the GPS wants you to take that left way.
idk what the signs say lol
Limited height. 3 meters.
ah
Hence all of those plastic things.
I've driven there with a 3.05 meter vehicle. ๐
It hit one of those warnings things. Made it through just fine.
lol
Imagine using your phone for sat nav... When you can use an oldskool TomTom ๐
i refuse to use those
Same.
I'm not paying 200$ for yearly f*cking updates
The only reason why I'm not using one.
Free lifetime updates*
how many time do you see ppl going on the highway the wrong way bcs of following their gps stupidly
* lifetime = 11 years apparently
google maps
That's not even a generation.
free for life
Well it's the lifespan of the device probably
and you don't need to update it
google maps works much better than tomtoms anyways
the tomtom thing doesn't know traffic, road closures, etc
The only reason why I would use a dedicated GPS would be for trucking.
I now have a newer system stolen from my brother, which does know traffic etc
only thing i hate on ggl maps s that they tell you the streets name on a roundabout, when there is like 5 exits
But then it would have to be one designed for trucks.
So that you could type in how tall and heavy you are.
lots of ppl with my phone have remarked on gps problems which I"ve not experienced??
Glad lol.
could avoid 11'8" accidents
my phone is fantastic though the battery is meh, decent but not great
A coworker I used to work with was close to driving into an underpass.
two wireless modems will do that ig
Use a 12V Dash Charger
Yeah I know
Truck actually has a USB port on the headunit. ๐
Expensive af
yea thats gonna be a problem
Also, that's usually like 1A
my fm transmitter takes up the plug
might have to move that to the back, idk
we'll see
Lol, or use a splitter xD
or that
Get a FM transmitter/charger combo dealio.
Ah
Lol
I want that one.
I wonder if i bought a VOOC charger if that would work?
i got the phone for mostly free lol

I remember you saying that :c
Y33t
The only thing I don't like about the OnePlus phones is no wireless charging.
yeah
the in-screen fingerprint is super cool, and on the 7t pro its actually not much slower than a normal sensor
Wireless charging isn't as fast as Dash/Warp Charge, so meh
yeh but it'd be nice
No cables is what's nice with it.
and to top off w/o wearing out the charge port
I'd basically just have one charger by the computer, and one in the car.
No big selling point for me personally, but I'd see why others would like it
Yes me charge port is starting to wear :/
The charging port is actually broken on my brothers Note 10...
can replace it on the 5
the new galaxy stuff is soldered on
rip
have to replace the entire logic board and stuff to swap it out iirc
That's a big oof.
Not gonna open up my phone, my sausage fingers are to big to do such delicate job
how are you gonna get it fixed if it breaks tho?
If the port breaks?
ya
Insurance I guess.
Idk I hope it doesn't until the OP8 comes out xD
when that asshat at my school shattered my OP5 screen, I had to send it to oneplus to get it fixed. none of the phone repair stores even knew what it was
"Onepluswhat?"
(could have fixed it myself, but the screen replacement cost as much as having OP just do it
so
they literally had no idea oneplus existed
^ i still get that response a lot
starting with the 6T they partnered with T-mo so more stuff is supporting it now tho
I'm almost tempted to get the ROG II phone.
Yeah OnePlus repair costs are quite fair
Because of the massive battery.
Get a Nubia Red Magic 3
I was shocked at how much t-mo wants for phone insurance tho
It has, what? 6,000 mAh?
it was like 18$ a month for my phone
Lol that's a lot
yes but there's a deductible still
And I think it was 5Ah
i think its a 100$ deductible so effectively they cover like 60$ if we sent it to oneplus
not worth it
(or 5000mAh)
cause you can't get a refurb of this phone from assurant or anything
the US doesn't get the 7T Pro aside from the 5G McLaren
nice
Ooh I see there's quite some debris back in the charging port again, gotta clean it brb
mine has 4085mah
which is decent but the Snapdragon X55 modem sucks down some battery
- 90hz 1440p screen
my first phone was a Galaxy Core Prime
lol
then I got a Galaxy S5, then my OnePlus 5, then 6T, now 7T Pro
My first phone was the Nokia 3310...
My parents only allowed me to get a phone in 9th grade
Hello. My name is OLD
aka 3 years ago
traded the Core Prime for an iPhone 5C
then traded the 5C for a Galxy s5 that i used for a bit
then I bought the OP5
and its been downhil since then
xD
Want to know how bad the battery got on my HTC One M8?
I would charge it overnight.
And it could be dead by the time I came to the subway.
A 10 minute walk.
Because stuff costs money.
I pretty much kept it on life support with the help of a battery bank.
i'd imagine the battery won't get that bad
I had the One M8 up until about a year ago.
oh shit
Damn son
you had the phone since new?
Got it shortly after it launched.
holy crap
Yeah
you had the phone for 5 years?!
4-5 years, something like that.
I had my OP5 for a little more than two years before I upgraded to the 6T
then had the 6T for about 2 months
lol
the 7t pro thing was too good a deal to pass up, I wasn't in any big hurry to upgrade
The One M8 was honestly in pretty good condition considering its age as well.
My 7t pro should get even better once tmo and sprint merge
cause rn tmobile's 5g is on 600mhz so its only ~20% faster than LTE
but sprint is using 2500mhz for 5g so it can get 800mbps
a middle ground between mmwave which is super fast but tiny coverage and tmobile's 600mhz which is quite good coverage but the highest I've gotten is 150mbps
nice offtopic bois
probably a good idea to talk about the right hting before mods come and ban us all

ima take my car for a proper shakedown drive today ๐
๐
I've got my fingers crossed for you, let us pray to the car gods that your car is fixed
I'll probably pull out the RX-7 today. Need to run a couple errands too, so I can do that
To clean your injectors, just drive at 100 mph for a good 1000 miles
That'll get them clean
oor just yeet the injectors and put a real fuel system on it
Sorry, I'm on an atkins diet. No carbs for me.
Big oof
yeah..
no, he's dead.
๐
my grandparents once bought a new car drove 300 miles hit a deer and totaled the car in 6 hours
