xD Yes
My brother was also looking at those Polo's about 3-4 yeara ago... I talked him out of it and im to a Punto Evo. He thanked me later π
I'd definitely get the Fiat out of those two lmao
Way more fun little car
The Polo is infertility on wheels
Mine
It was:
- cheaper to buy
- cheaper to maintain
- more fun to drive
- more comfortable
- smoother 4cyl engine vs 3cyl Bluemotion
- better looking
- nicer designed interior
- more spacious inside
He would have traded all of that in for a badge
Oh wait
Idk, it's a GT
Oof thought you guys might know shmee150 oh well
He owned it for over 3 years, never regretted it
A I thought it was shmee, but wasn't sure
I already thought it was Shmee lmao
Don't watch it's video's since he's annoying af
Lmao
I just don't like him personally
LOL
Glad to see I am not the only one
Nice
π€
Beetle
I seriously do not know
Same
Same
I saw
Oof
I am subscribed with notifications on
What car are they launching this time?

Beetle

They are launching the Cybertruck prototype to see how it behaves on Mars
Punto was fully optioned, except a sun roof
Sad to say this
Hey look, two Corsas
But that Punto is probably faster than my car
So the traded it for a 308 1.6 THP π
ew
That Punto did 0-100kph in 13s on paper
Yeah mistakes were made trading it in for a 308.. but he now has a 318i M-pack Alpinweiss etc
So all is good
308 which is now exported
Yes
Exported?
Well we kinda made it look better than it was
You said it was an Opel?
So what they gave for it wasn't unreasonable for the condition it actually was in xD
Looooooooooool
No we topped it off with oil before we headed up there, cleared fault codes one street on forhand, ran it warm so the alternator belt didn't slip etc
Yeah true, we tried selling it private but that didn't work out
That generation 308 is one of the least reliable cars on the road here
Yeah I told him that too, but this one was fine according to my brother
Well... It wasn't
According to the Consumentengids anyway
At least the current 308 has that sweet 1.2 THP engine
Yeah the 1.2 PureTech is nice
Truth to be told, the 1.6 THP was also a very strong engine... It just scked quality wise
Yeah it wasn't as great
His had just 100k km on it
Used like 1 liter of oil every 1.5k km
Which is within VWs factory spec
But still
My brother owned 4 cars up until now:
- 2/4 were Blue
- 2/4 were French
- 2/4 were exported
See the correlation? xD
naaaah
Some oil usage is normal, but it should just be a tiny amount
Looks fine to me
My motor has 216k miles on it too
Pretty thankful it burns nothing
BMW used to make some quality stuff back then
Probably because it wasn't as complicated as everything is now
Vanos
lol
Vanos eh, let me shove in a vanos unit
Good thing my brother bought a 318i now, just around the mileage where the Vanos might break
At least he knows what to expect now
Previous owner did replace the timing chain etc, which is a common issue on the N43 engines
So that's all sorted out (:
- the car is a very nice specced E91, those do keep their value so a repair like that is worth it
And yeah he knows it's coming
Maybe he fixed it already, idk
Those were nice cars yeah
Nicely specced
No diesels here lol
Also, he only drives it for fun, he commutes to work by train
Yes he wants a 335i, but those are like 10k more expensive
How is the train a more affordable alternative
Yes I know lol
Expensive af here
And the 318i is quick enough
Since the train is payed for 100% by work, parking near work (in the city center) is bloody expensive and not covered by his work
Ah then I get it
He lives 5 minutes bike ride away from a train station, his work is across the street if the train station
I would do the same in that case
He also has a secured bike storage payed by his work etc
Otherwise I would consider getting a cheap runabout lol
He's driven like 8k km in the last year including 2 vacations xD
Yeah otherwise he would have kept the Punto probably
8k isn't much at all
Exactly
Does save a lot on fuel cost
So a 335d isn't worth it xD
And maintaining a modern BMW isn't exactly cheap either
True, 1 week after his regular service something broke Γ β¬700 (can't remember what)
oof
Has been reliable since tho
Yeah well it's in great shape and he likes to keep it that way (:
Anyway, is nearly 2AM. Gotta hit the hay xD
See y'all tomorrow
@stoic ledge what's this about a 335i? Do ittt
318i? fast enough? dude no. a 335i can hold like 800 factory
318i is like 140hp isnt it?
Not enough, that's what
very true
210HP and a DCT
i'd say not so smooth but quick quick
I see. Thanks!
the normal CVT is smoother
I believe it
800 HP pretty much all the N54 could hold. I wouldn't want to own one with that power
320 out of the N55 is enough for me for now. But the 318 would leave me wanting more
A lot more
just watch this today it was great http://prntscr.com/qbtx2q
This shark was walking on your car
That's almost as adorable as my cat.
:D
Had to wash the pawprints off after a tree assaulted my car with a berry.
Awwww
@shadow osprey @indigo coral Our little country is mostly flat so no need for lots of hp
Of course itβs fun to have more but itβs not necessary
And since everything required to drive a car here is more expensive...
I highly doubt insurance is significantly more @fair bronze
My premium is 2500$ per 6 months (not precisely, something like 2567.64 etc)
For just liability, no comprehensive
(fucking ludicrous might I add)
The part that makes no sense to me is that I've got friends with Corvettes etc that pay half what I do
But hey my '99 RX is exceptionally dangerous or some shit
Slow, safe and reliable, whats not for an insurance company to like?
Never fails to piss me off how stinking high my premium is
You know there's more than one insurance company out there
@indigo coral Insurance isn't the only thing you need to pay for lol
In the US it might be a no-brainer to get something with a bigger, more powerful engine
Not so much here
Insurance is more expensive, but so are gas, maintenance, road tax, etc
Summary: everything is way more expensive
π
They don't seem to get that lol
@barren shale There are just 3 E91 LCI 335i's for sale in the entire country. Rare af, expensive af
Lol yeah no
Yes, But it isn't
Not even in the slightest bit
Ok so a 2010 335i E91 is, converted, $28k USD
In the US, a 2018 M340i xDrive costs roughly the same:
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/795455801/overview/
($29.950 USD)
Which is why we never see them
^ exactly
And even a 2013 320i with 75k miles on it is $8.795 USD in the US... β¬7.9k converted... basically half what my brother had to pay for the 318i, and almost as expensive as I had to pay for my Corsa
thats not a lot...?
In the US that is
market price seems to be around 12k for something around that
FYI, the giveaway goes live in 4 days
That doesn't change the fact that everything is way more expensive here in the Netherlands
Prices are completely different
Is this... A post from the past π (01/01/1970)
?
We're on mobile so it didn't go away
Also I thought we already established that Dutch stuff is expensive
In that case you should understand why a 318i is generally good enough here
But yeah, Dutch stuff is expensive. That's why we drive stuff like a 318i
Good enough and expensive enough are still not the same tho
Still plenty fast to beat all those muesli powered 1.0 EcoBoost engines
^
Ooh you guys actually get the 1.0L
Let alone the non-turbo 1.0 engines
I want a 1.0 just to put 30 psi of boost through it and see what happens
Dude most cars sold are 1.0 1.2 engines, with or without turbos
We don't get engines that small
We know
Mainly cause you'd be a hazard on the road but yeah
well yeah, when everyone drives a 100hp car, no one is a danger
it's like driving a wagon
No one sells wagons cause no ones buys them. No one buys them cause no one sells them
Same here with sedans xD
It's all perception
not about the wagons tho
Why are you talking wagons all of a sudden
I like wagons...?
So do I
so whats the problem
America
sometimes

Is it just me or are all F31 wagons in the US diesels π
People bought those?
All auto yes
probably mostly awd too
What American buys a BMW wagon with a diesel engine lol
but actually
US models do have hideous side reflectors tho π
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/790095127/overview/
> Getting a diesel to drive 30k miles/50k km in 5 years
That makes no sense at all, no matter where you are in the world
I'm surprised it's not blown up from them putting gas in it
I was at the pump the other day and some lady asked me what the other handle was and I said "diesel" and she said the yellow one and I said "E85" and she said whats that and I said "fuel" and she looked at me like I had 2 heads
I just want to put the magical liquid in my car!
Don't you just love it when it does that
Yes
My car runs on moonshine
Yeehaw
My car runs on cow farts
I thought cow farts were our biggest environmental issue
No that's ours not yours
Not if you reuse them for propulsion
I thought the environment was a non-issue in the US
#fakenews
#buyaV8
Nah I pay enough taxes to use them
The US is invading memes now
if im being honest, blowers are the symbol of fun
screaming in the front, growling in the back

Episode 17 of BUILT NOT BOUGHT
G'day Guys Sorry for a bit of a choppy Episode, but it all came together very quickly towards the end!
With lots of tasks being completed simul...
near the end he takes it out

You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about
Oof
Shine bright like a diamond
Burn my retinas
It's not as bright behind the lens though
hmm
lets see if dis is better than my shitty sony
I have the MVH-S300BT, it has enough power for the 6.5" door speakers
Been quite pleased with it
Personally I see no reason to keep it flat
No not like that
yes like that
All you want is loudness
Basically you adjust the audio to Beatsβ’οΈ quality

Ls swap everything
http://prntscr.com/qc9hwl those bmw head lights LOL
I like it but it's very strange on a cat
how 'bout i tesla swap a rx7
that'd be pretty cool for tesla/someone to make,
a running base that you can put your own shell on
mfw anyone says I need to take the rotary out of my car

@strong plume tbf there is a guy that kinda does that, jehugarcia
there is also the guy we saw in rich rebuild's video with the audi
Audis aren't rotary tho
Also there is a company that apparently makes an EV conversion kit for GM classics.
I know someone made an electric ae86 which was dope. Seeing an EV rx-7 would be even cooler.
Although rx-7's in my mind need to keep their rotaries.
But an ev rx-7 would be an interesting and unique idea.
damn lookin sexy
I just want an EV swapped Bel Air.
2nd or 3rd gen... doesn't matter as long as it is a coupe.
doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do
it'd be big enough for a big boi battery, lmao
@thirdrowtesla Model S Plaid makes the Porsche sound like a squeaker. https://t.co/sNKiTLKu8g
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2gnwh7qYCk I'm not impressed with the new one.
Itβs the car thatβs been 45 years in the makingβ¦ Introducing the new Golf Mk8! Itβs one of the most recognisable cars the world over, and the new version arrives with a sleeker exterior design and a total overhaul of the cabin, which includes a tonne of new tech! The ...
Styling is... a mild refresh?
Oh right... it isn't new new.
SEAT called.
excuse me, what the fuck is that
is....that.....something worse than the Chrysler shift knob?????
uh oh, STINKY
The Volvo one is pretty bad too
oh the new Golf is a twist beam axle for the base trim.
Mk7 Golf same
Depending on the engine: semi-independent or full independent
In other news: PSA + FCA are in fact fusing, both parties signed the contract π
Oof yeah
https://www.carthrottle.com/post/fca-and-psa-have-agreed-a-full-merger/
Here's an English article
Maybe the merger will put RAM back under the dodge brand.
X doubt
Merge might result in a new RAM ProMaster City maybe
And maybe a new ProMaster variant...
They'll probably also make some Fiat/Jeep cross-overs on PSA platform, maybe for Europe a new hatchback based on the Corsa/208
RIP v8s
They'll probably keep the HEMI's etc in the US
Biggest gas PSA engine is a 1.6 Turbo
This is where I have been working for the last few weeks.
Driving mud is a bit of a pain.
> i doubt they will, PSA likes ruining things
π€
So does Fiat, but RAM still survives.
barely, the Ram 1500 has been a reliability nightmare from what I've heard
I've heard mixed things about all 3 of the truck makers.
@indigo coral still better than a V10 Touareg
For me this is the most unreliable engine ever made
probably very true
No they (PSA) just like respecting the f**king environment (maybe a lil to much with the 3cyl but ford also does) and no they are not dumb, they want to come on the US market so they won't kill anything
And there's a moment USA will have to stop putting V8s in everything, at least the rest of the world understood this
PSA can sell their Peugeots/Opels/... via FCA dealerships in the US
But x doubt PSA will ruin things, for the last couple of years they have been doing solid business
Lowest HP PSA engine is 75hp >:)
bleh. Still no fun.
Americans don't "put v8s in everything" but we don't pussyfoot around with tiny 2 door hatchbacks that will crumple like a tin can in an accident
No one gets those
Step up is the 1.2 PureTech (100 or 130hp)
Another step up is the 1.6 PureTech (165, 180, 225hp)
Then they also have PHEVs, up to a combined 300hp
if they bring cars to the US based on Peugeot's, they'll probably only use the 1.6 PureTech and/or the PHEVs
lol
Which is perfectly in line with other cars in the segment I reckon
people here want old low powered cars
they look way better and can be fixed without ak computer
But old cars are banned from city centers because they are bad for the environment ~ our government
Most non-ECU cars aren't around anymore
dis
and here people are driving around with d24 volvos
turbocharge em and tune it
rolling coal
or what it was
Oof
I drive a carbureted rotary car. Burns motor oil and 2 stroke, and the emissions control is partially defeated. Horrible on the environment. No one cares.
But I also drive a hybrid sedan with a 1.4L engine and get 50mpg with emissions system fully functional. I balance it out
net neutral
@indigo coral 1- tiny cars don't get crushed in accidents (well not more than anything else)
2- yes you have big cars so you can't put a small engine in but why do you have huge cars (trucks) for daily? i'd bet at least 50% of you guys could use a little car as daily without missing the big truck (on a practical way i mean)
maybe they shoud try smaller cars, wouldn't need v8 then
@stoic ledge yeah same, this is total bullsh** in FR... it's going so fkd up
they puit taxes on new cars, try to get the old cars out
just killing the automobile
Our small cars don't 'crumple like a tin can' because we have safety standards
They crumple because of the crumple zones
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into...
Yes, also
And that's the reason the cybertruck will prbably not match security standards in europe (again i know, it's only guessing)
With the current design, it's very likely it won't
But it's still 2+ years away, so we shall see
oh 2 years?
http://www.euroncap.com/tests/ford_ranger_2008/342.aspx
Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier.
In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h.
In the pole test, the car test...

The whole thing needs redone
The clear is completely gone in multiple areas, and a couple spots on the roof lost enough paint to start surface rusting
That looks like what my friend's old RX-7 would have looked like if it was nice
This paint look ok to you, lmao
yep
the rain hides it and makes it look ok, but when its dry it looks pretty crap
Just got this last week
nice
First Look at the Electric Ford F-150's Frunk
FBs?
Oof a Model S just rear-ended a BMW X3 here
Rip
I don't quite get the whole "OH NO A TESLA CRASHED" news cycle though
people crash cars all the time
autopilot or not, loads have crashed on Adaptive Cruise etc
Truck passed 33333,3 km's yesterday.
@bronze flame The body repair guys came out on top.
The Tesla looked quite damage front the front/bonnet/hood, BMW X3 only looked like the bumper was damaged a bit
But that's quite normal for such accident
that's a nice fleet car, color would be a no go for me tho
It looks better in person
Plus the sun isnβt hitting it
Itβs 10F outside otherwise weβd be ripping it
eww bimmers
I like the m4
I'd get RC F myself but I'm a bit biased ;P
π
Digging the M4... nice color.
Rc F isnβt stick :)
I like the colour too
Lots of cars aren't stick.
You can either get a Civic Type R or a RC-F.
I'd go for the Lexus
this fly will break the cybertruck windows
Relativity fly strikes again!

Nearly two decades ago, #Toyota introduced the car-like #ToyotaHighlander. It was based of...
hot take
Incandescent turn signals look better than LED turn signals.
Depends on the car
Incandescent lights are softer. LED has a harsher light.
- easier to replace when broken
"But LEDs won't break"
Yes they will... How often I see a headlight/rear light with one or multiple LEDs broken...
On old cars I prefer incandescent lights, on modern cars LED
Ah yes. The badge of the Subaru tuner.
If I had the money I probably could have tried for a WRX.
But I got sold on luxury over performance. (and the price of a new WRX was a bit rich for me.)
High Quality LED's usually last (basically) forever.
i hate those LED panels on cars
I'll probably end up switching out all of my lights to LED ones at some point in its life.
Keep the original housings and stuff, obviously.
im sticking with original lights
Headlights burning out were never a huge issue.
100 dollars saved over the life of ownership?
Now actually getting those replaced... totally worth it to get LEDs.
expensive af paint job done
yes thats the look i was going for
cool!
also tinted the lights with some very high end paint from the bargain bin
matte black yeah
scratches are also harder to see (in my experience)

No seriously
lol
What happened to it
Did you just take it out and put it there
The hood is underneath that lmao
What do you mean
Weird kind of fun
yeah
But alright I guess
Me struggling with plastic bits.
Thought this shit was all adhesive, but there's a clip too. Makes me even more confused as to how it fell off
They like to make things hard
What is that even
Ah I see
And I did get the clip off, but broke the clip off the lense in the process
So π€ moment on whether or not I should try glueing the clip on or something
Or if I should just lather this lense in adhesive and send it
If it can be done in a way where you can't really tell
The clip is on the inside
Yea, I guess.
The lense would probably be fine without the clip too, it's primarily held in with adhesive
There's just that one clip
New parts are kinda expensive too
https://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/Chassis-and-Body/Light-Lenses-and-Assemblies/Mazda-Tail-Lights-and-Parts/79-85-Mazda-Rx7-Tail-Lights-and-Parts/
So as long as it stays on
I know a guy π
He has like 11 parts cars for his racecar
Sent me an entire tail light for like $40
I haven't grabbed the rear yet. I haven't heard confirmation that it does have discs, and it's across the state so not gonna just drive over there for no reason. But I will grab the tails if they're good if I go up there
Good idea
At least it has brakes
It will stop eventually
Otherwise I believe you have many trees in Finland
That is so that you know you are braking
M I n t
yes
Nice clean tail light lense. Now I need to get the other one off the car and clean it
Jesus. The one that's on the car refuses to come off
cute
In a coke bottle glasses nerdy girl kinda way.
Too bad this car can't take it's glasses off and let it's hair down to suddenly become the love interest.
Is it a SE Asia market car?
India
I put rubber sealant around the lip of the assembly itself and then put the lens on. My only concerns are the sealant I got isn't adhesive enough or I didn't put enough on
Hey, I'm not a car person at all but after I got my car I've been trying to learn more about my personal car (2006 Nissan Sentra s special edition)Β
Β
I hit a very nasty pothole that severely bent my rim and damaged my tire one late night last month and got it replaced (both single rim and tire) and ever since the car feels different, I feel I can hear the road a lot more and it doesn't drive as smooth (itΒ never truly drove smooth in the first place) seems a little bouncy and the car vibrates terribly when going around 50 - 60 MPH, I'm not sure what this issue is, my grandfather who is a car person says there's nothing that seems wrong with it but something just does not seem right, anyone have ideas? Some roads the car drives like a beauty at 30-45 mph, butΒ some roads are an absolute roller coaster when it comes to theΒ bounce.
Sounds like you need some balancing, maybe an alignment
Nothing on the suspension was damaged or bent?
Check tire pressures.
That's the thing, i was out of town while my grandfather took it to the shop, said nothing was wrong with it?
Balance the wheel.
Other than the rim of course and tire
So how different should the tire pressure be from one another
zero
All tires should be inflated to the same pressure.
The road noise could be different brand of tire?
Obviously but that won't make it vibrate like that
Well, the new tire was like 38 psi or something like that while the others were 34 35,
If it's over inflated you'll feel it on rough roads.
drop that pressure to the same as the rest.
38 is pretty damn high.
That should smooth out the ride.
That's something to get right
Vibration could be needing to balance the wheel.
The other 3 tires are also about 1-2 years old while the new one is legit 3 weeks lld
Old
What about the bouncyness?
It could be the pressure.
Not just vibrations
The steering feels loose too, especially turning to the right for some reason but that could be just due to me being paranoid
No, it's the same I believe
How do I do that? Like I said I have no idea,
I just know how to check psi and oil and stuff like that
Let some air out until it's the right pressure
Just push the pin in the tire valve stem with a key for example
How long do you believe I should do it?
Okay, sadly it's really damn dark outside I gotta do it tomorrow when it's not dark π
What do you think may cause vibrations though? How much is it to "balance" or whatever
That depends on your tire shop
Balancing is never really expensive though
Though it should be done when fitting a new tire anyway
Well that's the thing, I've heard people say never really expensive but then it is really expensive π
To me atleast
So either they didn't balance it or they did a bad job
Tire balancing isn't much work for them
Maybe a weight fell off or something
Those are all possibilities
So first get your tire pressure even and see if the problem still persists
Alright, will do tomorrow and get back to you! Thanks so much for understanding how little knowledge i have π
I used to hear road noise when I had cheapo tires on the Prius. And I heard lots of road noise with rotted tires on the RX-7
No worries
I'd get an alignment and get the wheels balanced. Mismatched tread on the new tire vs the other tires could also make it feel weird when driving, also possible cause for the road noise
tire pressure usually doesn't seem to do a whole lot unless it's really far off
That's another possibility
there's a reason they always say not to mis-match tires π
If the new is 38 while others are 34 or 35 is that a bit much
Also my grandfather who is a car guru made sure they were all the same tires
Your car should have a sticker showing what the recommended pressure is
5 psi difference is enough to throw off fuel economy
especially 5 psi off from recommended spec
Where do you find the recommended spec for that?
as JD said, cars will have a sticker in the drivers side door jam that tells you what the PSI is for front and rear
sometimes it will be on the door, other times it will be on the frame
Okay, and with my, Nissan is that the minimum amount of psi or recommended?
That will tell you the recommended psi
Recommended
I'm not sure how car brands differentiate from others
Stuff like that is all standardized
Yes
Generally anyway
the sticker on any car will have recommended psi
Okay
it'd have to be some super old or weird car to say something other than recommended
Like an FB RX-7 for example
it says recommended
lol
It's a light car
also a sport car
Racecar
I wouldn't go that far

and then the Prius is like 35 front 33 rear, iirc
So it says for my car that 33 for front and 30 for back
But then acceptable for winter is 36-38 front and 33-35 back
A little higher doesn't hurt
In Europe we use Bar, I always go 0.2 bar over recommended
I usually go for just a hair over the mark of recommended psi
So basically keep it high in the winter and keep it more on the recommended on the door for anything other than winter?
I don't change the pressure at all, keep the same pressure all year round
So why do they recommend higher during the winter?
probably due to psi loss from temp changes
^
Ahh
as temperatures fluctuate, the air expands and contracts
so if you set your psi higher in winter, you won't have to add as much air in the spring
which imo is dumb, cause you're still gonna get a TPS light
There's an air pump near my house, it automatically brings all tires up to the correct pressure
I do it once every month or so
may as well just run regular recommended pressure and just keep an eye on it
Air pumps cost a dollar here so I just use our air compressor at home
Alright, so are cars like computers when it comes to "upgrading"
Like i said, I'm not a car guy at all but my car is my baby
Upgrades generally aren't plug-and-play so not really
Well not necessarily like smacking a new engine jn
In
But like, idk better brakes and suspension or something?
Okay, also, my car makes a chirping noise when changing gears at certain speeds which means transmission issue right?
Most likely.
being a 10+ year old car, it likely could use a transmission fluid change
Transmission has fluid?
yes, lol
transmissions have metal gears that rub together, so they need fluid to lubricate them
automatics and CVTs use ATF (automatic transmission fluid), and manual transmissions use gear oil
Huh, i learn something new everyday
such is life
So with changing my radio thingy, I'm guessing I would have to find the right size? The one I have now I cannot see during the day, it doesn't light up bright enough to see
So i can see the time or anything
Can't*
Get your tires done first, you can figure that out later
Don't do everything at once lol
Well ya duh lol i just want to learn since I'm very interested in learning this stuff haha
I just want to sleep
Thanks
Well go to sleep then, don't let me or anyone keep you up
Lol well still
Until the transmission starts grinding or making the car lurch when it changes gears, the fluid is fine
automatics and CVTs are designed to have longer service intervals for convenience
Cute beads
That's a very generous assumption lol
they should be designed to have longer intervals
some trans maybe don't, such as the infamous Nissan CVT
should be and are are not the same
Kappa
lmao
Pretty cute otherwise
I finally got a chance to get a car wash today
road salt finally cleared up after the snowstorm sunday
Nature does that for me currently
last I checked rain doesn't come from the ground to clean my cars' underside
It does in Australia
