50k in the US.
I wonder tho
Oof Ostenreich
Depends on the dealer.
let's see if i can configure the Supra
they will tell me the tax
well the NoVA is Europe wide
NoVA? Is that the regular VAT? (19/21%)?
Ok I was wrong, the Supra starts in π³π± at only β¬82k
no, NoVA stands for Normverbrauchsabgaben
a tax you have to be if you are going to be the first owner of this car
π€ That's not Europe wide as far as I know...
I once did a price comparison with my american friend, to configure a mustang GT in our countries
he got 35k I got 68k
Oh hi welcome to cars chat
20-25k were NoVA
O hey there falcon
all the time?
a few times
Either way welcome to cars chat ππ
Mustang starts over β¬100k in π³π±
yeah
π
this is my oppurtunity to whine about me nmever going to be able to drive a manual
I don't even know how to lmao
If you do your license with an automatic car in Europe, you can only drive automatic
Manual ftw
Oof yes I explained that too falcon before xD
Till you end up in traffic.
but a daunting task if you have Asperger's
Yeah it seems really incredibly dumb to have a rule like that
Or if you are eating a burger.
Wtf purpose does it server
Oof yes I bet it is
Serve*
@dense shard why the hell would you eat and drive?
Because I am hungry?
^
We Americans spend a whole lot of time in traffic
To avoid people who can't use 3 pedals to drive ut between other cars
It's plain out dangerous
If you can drive it, take an exam and get the restriction lifted
if you're dumb and try to drive a manual car on the public roads without knowing how, it's your own damn fault
I can also learn to drive a lorry. Still have to pass a test xD
In America, sure.
But the rest of the world requires you actually know how to drive.
I'll have you know I scored a perfect 100% on my driving test.... But it was super easy and didn't even go on highway or anything
Lol
Oof
Then again I knew a British guy who didn't need to retake any tests in Japan.
He was not a great driver.
Configured a Mustang GT again
Yikes
Lol, could get a nice used Mustang for that here
so yeah 22k just for tax
2015 GT if you're lucky
oh shit
Lol
Can get a brand new Ecoboost for 22k w/ a couple incentives
with the money I pay just for tax I could get myself a used dream car
What is your dream car?
GT Coupe with all options?
Yes a see, I'll pick the same
My German is good enough
yeah a normal GT here costs more than a GT500 in the US
And here I would be happy with the Fiesta ST
they shitting on me
850HP on a Panda
GT500
π
A car heavier than an old land barge.
Our GT Mustang is different than the Austrian, so I just picked the same color + seats
β¬114k
but yeah I could get this car for the money I'd pay just for taxes when getting a brand new Mustang GT
or I could get this M5 for the money of a mustang without the tax
The M5 Kills the GT
and also there's room for family
and more luxuries
Ok so in their price list, a base GT is β¬38.500. With, it's β¬111.005.
Great deal
okay I have a deal
get this bentley for 5k more but no taxes
It just looks like it belongs to a Russian mob
doesn't matter
This car might look like it's driven by 60 year old lawyers
but hell if you arrive in a bentley then you know you got shit
and nobody will realize you paid less than for a mustang
But Since a bentley is still not for everyone
I hope you realise how much maintenance costs on those
how about this?
650HP Silvia S15
getting the Tokyo Drift Vibes
I love how this car looks
apparently the papers for this car have been signed by Daigo Saito
@fair bronze Maintenance cost is high for all of them
Especially the Bentley though
ofc
still 30k cheaper
so probably more car for the price
and I am not gonna pay 30k after a year for maintenance will I?
It's a possibility
@dense shard no i mean drinking in General
I'm not sure I follow.
After a long day of doing nothing, I enjoy a nice alcoholic beverage.

The sub-compact SUV segment in America has continued to grow year after year. In 2018, Ame...
Almost a year later... Mazda releases the CX-30, but no Skyactiv X
SkyactivX isn't coming to US is it?
Not at this rate.
Mazda needs to try harder.
we're using a twist beam because it weighs less and is easier to tune
The new 3 weighs more, and handles worse than a car with a competent suspension setup.
Thaaaanks
Anyone got the Cybertruck
It's not in production yet....
They do look cool yes
Oof the German safety and testing institute TΓV declared the Cybertruck won't meet the European safety standards
No way! I totally didn't predict that!
Weird considering they couldn't have any technical info on it.
don't blame the messenger
Yea, I'm just saying that I wouldn't give it any credibility because it's just guesswork on their part
π€
considering the shape of this thing, it's very likely that it won't meet the European safety standards
I don't even know how it does for USA
considering that they put ugly bumper even on chiron s
it makes no sense
if it was made in europe it wouldn't pass usa safety standards
there's no regulations that say "If it has corners on it, it's not ok"
they are guessing that it won't pass the safety requirements for pedestrian safety
i'm talking about bumpers and the capacity of the car to absorb shocks instead of just destroying the car it ran into
yea, again, all guesswork
According to TΓV's Stefan Teller, "major changes to the basic structure" must be made before the car can receive European approval, he told the German Automobilwoche. ,, The basic concept of this Tesla contradicts the common European safety philosophy. The occupants feel safe, but they are not, "says Teller.
There are major differences between the US and Europe when it comes to vehicle type approval. In the US, car manufacturers have the option to certify the technical inspection of their vehicles themselves. In Western Europe, a type approval procedure is in force, involving manufacturers and authorities (such as independent technical services such as the TΓV). Vehicles must therefore comply with 50 to 60 regulations.```
Translated by our friend Google, since I'm too lazy
of course guesswork but it seems pretty obvious
It seems obv if you assume a simplistic design with no engineering effort put into it
the whole upset is about if the car will absorb impacts
and obv it will, but we don't know how, and how much energy it will absorb.
So, anyone making claims about its performance is just shooting the shit.
Nice looking but infiniti makes really bad cars
Outdated tech and engines, overpriced, etc.
Oh
If they modernized their stuff it would be much more palatable, but as of now they're just too damn old
Like the 370z
Or Model S
the 370z is still on sale?
it's a pretty old car now
I love it but didn't know they still sell it
yeah it's still on sale afaik
At least there's new ones on dealer lots still
Yep it's still being produced
been out since 2009
but I think it's still pretty good even nowadays
it doesn't look old really
of course a real new version may be nice though
It's aging. It remains relevant thanks to being a leader in a field of one.
At this point the car is paid off, and I imagine every unit produced is profit.
Nissan's entire lineup (including Infiniti) are outdated and ancient. I mean, they still haven't fixed the problems with their CVT, and all their cars look the same as they did 10 years ago (sometimes even older than 10) with only a few models getting minor facelifts over the years. There's basically no real reason to buy a Nissan or Infiniti these days
The Nissan Titan has not changed since it was introduced in 2005
And, tbh, the 350 and 370 aren't really that great. They're just kinda background noise compared to the WRX, BRZ/86, and MX-5. Sure they're quick and have decent looks, but the transmissions shift terribly, and they don't have a lot of charm. I've never heard anyone say "I'm thinking about getting a 370z." I always hear "I'm thinking about getting a BRZ"
If you want a Nissan that doesn't suck, start looking online for anything early 90s or older, or better yet, get a Datsun
Bwah 370Z is/was quite good, it's just too old now. And their manuals aren't bad
370Z looks nice but is a terrible value
The Titan now is new.
Kicks is brand new.
Rogue Sport is semi-new... The Altima is also brand new.
Nissan is slowly updating their lineup.
New Rogue is due next year.
Infiniti tho needs to die.
oh also Sentra and Versa are both all new for 2019/2020
The "all new" Versa is basically a Micra sedan we've been getting since 16/17 in Europe
sexy
Tbh it doesn't look too shabby
Underneath it's basically a Clio IV which debuted in 2013
2012 apparently
Didn't Nissan also just released a brand new Puke Juke?
Ah only for Europe apparently
I'll take fresh cars over rehashed irrelevance out of Ford.
Sure the new Versa is running on an older platform, but at least it's a new car which relevant features.
If only Nissan could nail down the CVT durability issues.

^ That's the Micra btw
It's a Nissan
@stoic ledge the Kicks replaced the Juke over here. Same car, just restyled.
Different engine
Actually my understanding is it's overall a vastly better car.
Good on gas, good on features, and has a weird dual injector system.
It's two injectors, port injection.
Nice
@stoic ledge Can I call my car a "Fiat Grande Punto XTβ now?
No it's a Punto Evo v0.5 now: evolution from a Grande Punto but not quite like a Punto Evo
π

The first picture I saw of that GPU I thought someone dropped it and that the dent was not intentional
Oof yes
why is there a gpu in a car related channel
His Punto: new dent
5700 XT: sent in cooler
--> Grande Punto XT
Yep
It's a good thing cars don't need heatsink upgrades.
Not yet
Not ever.
Modern cars are pretty good on heat management unless you drive it on a track... then some cars might not like that.
It's beneficial to install an aftermarket trans cooler on mine
I've not done that yet
A lot of cars really don't like aftermarket rads.
I forgot what magazine/blog/person did it, but ended up going back to a stock radiator on their Miata due to heat issues. Doesn't help new car temp gauges are just for show.
@dense shard My car benefits from it as the core is tiny and its only a single pass
I would get a Z3m rad that's like 2x the thickness and a triple pass
Only the best performing engines can be overclocked to 11000
Most aren't so lucky, and manufacturers ask a premium for those engines
lmao
Staying within OEM specs is usually best.
So yeah, a rad from within a product stack should work. Unless you are doing serious track work... in which case you'll spend time tuning each part for best performance... or so my understanding goes.
So I've been dicking over my engine lifespan if the temp gauge is just for show, since I usually let it warm up to the first tick mark before driving it. If that's a lie then I'm still driving it cold
Driving slowly is better than letting it idle
^
I just let it ideal a bit before setting off.
Oh first tick mark ought to be fine.
Trick is to NOT heat the car up by idling. It's not good for the engine. Tends to run rich and that means gas is spraying down the oil in the cylinder walls.
Just drive gently for the first few minutes.
The whole idle to let it warm up thing is only applicable to carburated cars tbh
I just drive below 2k rpm and I'm good
I'm actually kind of amazed how fast my 'rolla heats up.
My Suzuki would take ages to warm up. I'd actually just leave it idling in front of the store when I got breakfast.
Mine fully heats up after driving in 15 minutes LMAO
It was warm enough at that point, but no reason to kill the temps again.
Ran like a tractor when it got cold enough. 3 cylinders was not a great sound in sub zero temps.
Yikes
lol
Old Suzuki design that was made to be cheap, durable, and reliable. Not smooth and happy sounding.
Still sounded better than most Daihatsus I came across.
The 'rolla tho. She's up to temps within a few minutes of driving. I guess all that fancy tech does work. heh
Not bad
I wonder what the next 20 years will bring us.
I need to edit more videos for 2020.
https://youtu.be/2caru2QQqKw my cold starts are a meme
mines fully warm by the time I get down the road π
literally like 3 minutes
after I let it warm up for like 2 mins
all you piston bois
I sit there for like 10-15 minutes (depending on ambient) while I wait for it to hold idle speed, then it's warmed up by the time I leave my neighborhood
or in the Prius, it never warms up because defrost and heat in that car are a meme
1.4L hardly puts out anything
Prius I'm off as soon as my music and/or google maps are going and I'm strapped in and ready to go. Usually within 30-sec to a minute, depending on how slow maps or spotify is being
RX-7 I'll be lucky to leave within 10 minutes, and even then I'll be short shifting to keep rpms low for a fair bit, and it likely won't fully hold idle yet
rotary/carburetor life
wtf
there's a 92 SC300 on cargurus near me for 550
claiming to run and drive and clean title
has 2jz
?????
Probably because it's falling apart.
It's pushing 30 years old.
Probably been driven like a Supra. lol
i bet the engine is worth more than that though
issa 2JZ-GE
it looks a little beat in pictures but not as bad as you'd thnk
There's a reason it's 550 dollars.
swap the rods and pistons to the GTE model and swap on turbos, then you have a 2JZ-GTE basically π€
Could still be clean.
Sketch repair jobs don't always show up I'd imagine.
Especially if not done as insurance work.
Man Toyota missing out on accessories for the Corolla.
The only way it could be in an accident and still show up clean is if it was never reported to the police
other reason for mismatched colors would be rust or other damage, such as irreparable dents from a basketball slamming on it or something
Not reporting to the police happens.
Especially if the guy was pretending to be Takumi on Akina, but instead of drifting he managed to Shaq free throw his car into a guardrail.
That's amusing.
https://carbuzz.com/news/dodge-finally-retiring-journeys-oldest-feature Pour one out for the 4 speed.
A transmission that's been in use for longer than I've been alive. Also implies new Journey in 2021.
So a new car for hackers to remotely shut down
Can't wait for cybertruck and have the ability to drive NY to Chicago only stopping once to fill up π
Rumors are the new Journey will be based on the Alfa Romeo Guilia/Steve-O
Or however you spell it.
and pay 3x more
Well it's Europe, so that's too be expected
I was thinking Steve, not Stel.
My avalon hybrid can do that journey easily

Giulia*
I get like 225 in town
Giulia is something historic, can't remember exactly what
damn
I haven't tried.
~500 miles if I'm careful and reckless?
'rolla gas tanks aren't massive.
TheΒ name GiuliaΒ is a girl'sΒ nameΒ of ItalianΒ origin meaningΒ "youthful".
my family has a 2002 4runner, and man does that thing burn gas
My tank is big but I get shit fuel economy
especially when towing
35-42-ish depending on terrain and weather.
4runner gets 18 on a good day, 15 on a bad day. Towing gets between 9 and 7 mph, 22gal tank iirc
My parents car gets better mileage than my Corsa
I suppose thays why I'm not offended about the 300 mile Tesla's
Got 35 in my parents Nissan Rogue.
as rated
I've never hit the EPA 19mpg in city driving for my car
I got 16 in real city (big city center type) driving
Have beat the highway one though, got 24 once
towing with the cybertruck (long range obv) is going to be great in terms of money saved. Going like 300 miles while towing boat costs over $100 for me. With the cybertruck it will be like $30

Nice
Manuals aren't as good on the highway anymore.
- start off in 6th gear
- leave it there
Max efficiency
(/s)
lol
When we did a long drive in my mom's explorer, we averages 23 which ain't bad
With a diesel, sure.
A friend of mine told me he always starts in 5th in his 01 Corolla
My car doesn't like being lugged. Especially in double overdrive 6th. heh
Literally can't do that
Whot starting in 5th? That's nearly impossible
You can... if you don't value your clutch.
they're just full of shit
Not saying that it's impossible, but... You have to feather the clutch so easy it takes forever to get Rollin
You'll burn the clutch.
And you burn your clutch immediately
You can, but at a heavy cost.
Do the akso think the R is for racing?
nooooo
Lol
Imagine a auto which is harder to shift than a manual xD
That would be one terrible auto
wot
Having an automatic seems a hell of a lot easier tbh
speaking of starting in high gears, you ever just forget to downshift to first because clutch then take off in second without noticing?
He's getting to old to drive so it might become my car, idk. I'm in no hurry, I like my '99
The 2007 is actually decently quick though
Has some zoom
Steering is absolutely dreadful tho.
speaking of starting in high gears, you ever just forget to downshift to first because clutch then take off in second without noticing?
Only in situations where people do something stupid, I have to react/brake and then forget I'm in second (not that it happens a lot, but it has happened before)
Steering on the 07 is worse than the 99?
oh very much so, it's so light and overassisted on the newer one
I've always started out in first I think.
Don't remember starting out in second by accident.
Mines actually decently heavy and you can feel some of the road/wtf is going on
Not the most accurate but plenty good enough
Third when my hand slips...
can drive with 1 finger on the 07
The gas pedal is touchy on it too
Much more power (and useable power) so it's more pleasant to drive in that regard
The 07 is a lot more refined and insulated
Third only once, when I backed off the driveway and then pushed it into 3rd instead of 1st xD
And not really started in second, but rolling at such low speed because you had to brake for some fool and then forgetting it xD
Too much power steering is meh, don't like it
Needs to have some weight imho
Definitely
Big
Yeah I'm familiar with the Lexus design xD
This one does have the steeringwheel on the wrong side of the car
π
Oof
thicc
Wot happened?
Me being big
he ate too many pies?
mood
get a wider seat then π
Recaros are in the works
stares at my empty wallet
but no must have "buckets" coz racecar
Just remove the seat π
lol u definitely need to test some seats
Maybe
Issa prototype
It's an old S2000 with a bodykit imho xD
I find that hard to believe.
That doesn't fit Honda's design language at all. Unless it's a test mule.
^
Its r e a l
And it isn't new.
prototype!
It's a bodykit on a Gen 1 S2k.
looks good tho
unlikely it will go for sale
They should, but they won't
The era of cool cars from unexpected manufacturers is long over
yep
if they bring it out it would need at least 400 brake to compete with the current crop of sports cars anyway
nah
yah
no its not in that segment
The new Supra is bad and fake, Lexus won't make a new LFA (and I'd they did they'd screw it up), etc etc. They're not going to risk a brand failure anymore.
which its targeted for
If the S2K isn't aimed at the Miata segment, it's already a failure.
it would be competing with Z4, supra and alike which are all 350bhp
Would be a hell of a lot more than 60k
It's an old S2000 with a bodykit imho xD
It turns out I was right xD
It's a bodykit on a Gen 1 S2k.
The Supra is a knockoff BMW with minimal development costs, and it's still 60k. A custom developed car would be FAR more expensive
vtec yo
It would be turbo in this day and age.
I'd say the S2k it between a Miata and a Supra tbh
A 4 banger most likely.
Meaning any personality the car would have would be absent.
it has a 4 cylinder 2 liter turbo just like everyone else!
s2k is way above a fucking miata
The FRS/BRZ is good but hilariously underpowered unfortunately
Miata is doing poorly at best
it was kinda special in its day
It WAS.
The Supra isn't really a BMW knock-off imho, drive them back to back and you'll realize the Supra is the better BMW
But now the Miata is the last man standing.
yea the supra is much better than a z4
BRZ if we include hardtops.
BRZ should have another 80hp
Who would Honda pair with to spread the cost of development?
nobody
BMW
BMW is tied up with Toyota.
and have it break down every week
Stttt xD
And I doubt BMW is looking to build another small cheap car.
The Supra is going to be a reliability nightmare
BMW Supra2000
lol
The 3.0 TT is quite decent from the start
I trust Toyota.
ecclestones daughter got robbed
Still a BMW engine.
And BMW says they've been working on actually focusing on reliability.
They've never once made a reliable car
58mil in jewellery
Nowhere remotely as solid as Toyota cars though
oh sure
BMW also says the new 1-Series is a great driving machine
corolla lools
Old Toyota's were also dreadful cars with 0 fun factor
I don't trust BMW at all when it comes to reliability
BMW would be remiss in saying anything else about their own products.
They made the E60 M5 and signed off on it
our cars are shit, yes it's true
Old BMW's were fun
Anyway. Rumor mills point to new BMW designs actually having reliability as a priority.
Let's be honest. BMW can't go much further on power and performance.
They've peaked.
They live forever, but the don't make you feel like you're alive π
I think they've realized it.
BMW is downsizing now :/
Toyota has peaked on reliability, and are now working on fun.
Trick is to not fuck over their previous reps.
ahem... HONDA
It's unfortunate that Toyota is going to wreck their track record like Honda did
I don't think so.
Toyota reliability + BMW fun = best combo ever
To be fair, the S85 is a race engine effectively. Proper maintenance and care is required that most owners don't give as they REV THE TITS off it from cold start
If they chase big power and fun they're not going to be reliable
For now Toyota's product stack is mostly staid, with a few gems.
Oh they're not chasing power.
Believe me.
It's impossible to have both
They put a suspension kit on a Camry and called it a day.
Okay and exhaust, brakes, and other tuning things.
Toyota GR appears to be making a 3 door AWD 1.5 Turbo Yaris I've heard... That would be fun
Also BMW's B58 found in 340i's, Z4 M40i's, and the new supra is proven to be reliable at 600 hp and it still has more in it
Right now we have a bunch of new designs from everyone.
The GS F for example is powerful but nowhere near as reliable as an RX or something for example
Come back to me in 5 years on Toyota and BMW.
Maybe the B58 will be a solid stock engine good for a million miles.
Perhaps the M20 will be even better than previously.
Whatever it is. Toyota has hedged their bets on the new Corolla by keeping the 1.8 from last gen in most of the sedans.
Watch the full video of TGR's Master Driver Morizo putting GR Yaris to its final test.
World Premiere, Tokyo Auto Salon 2020, Jan 10th 2020.
Maybe we'll get the new 2.0 in all trims by the mid cycle refresh.
Spoooooky
we can dream... just not in the US
Imagine having a Corolla with a 1.2 Turbo
I drove that and it wasn't bad at all
Yeah could be haha, no idea xD
Not sure if those are as reliable as the old 1.8 VVTI's and what not
I wouldn't really be worried about that if you service it correctly
Yeah no lol
Some people have no clue
But I've heard people say stuff like that
We'll see how the new Corolla fares. I have electric water pump, electronically controlled thermostat, electronically actuated intake valve lift...timing?
But at least Toyota put dual injectors in, oil jets for the pistons, and all that other good jazz.
pfffft
In my case I should be able to avoid the carbon build up on the intake valves.
Inject both for extra power
That wasn't a maintenance procedure I was looking forward to.
Opel's 1.2 is also reliable as fck tho, the base block is still the same cast iron block used in the 90's since they wouldn't die xD
Over the years, they updated the head to, added variable valve timing etc
nice
Some engines are way older than they seem
yep
The old Suzuki K6A started life in the early 90s.
Still made today in some applications.
Don't give Mazda new ideas.
Ok I checked, the base of my engine originated from 1996
Wait
yikes
Happily my engine is a brand new design. I wanted to be on the cutting edge for once.
I got my dream.
nonwonderitsshit, mk
LUL
Only the Β a light-weightΒ cast-ironΒ semi-closed deckΒ engine block stayed the same xD
I installed the air filter
No cover for extra performance
It picked up at least 0.5 whp
Cast iron is old school, but relevant school.
@indigo coral the ELR you mentioned earlier today is basically the same engine as the 1996 base block in my car xD
it ain't fast either

eh, sure not fast, but it's not exactly a performance car.
It's a bloody reliable engine tough
ew no
Yikes
HOONIGAN
I don't want to
Well full power at all time

So basically, yes that's true
lmao
Don't you just love Dutch technology
Jaren 80, met commentaar van AndrΓ© van Duin. Circuit Zandvoort.
They resulted in these amazing races
So yes
Why did I also think of that lmao
Daf CVT == same speed forward as backwards
It's like our government basically
P A R T O U T?
That red Subie though
The front is destroyed
Shame
Both of those are subbies lol
I saw by the black front bumper
lol
Such a waste
SNAIL WITH WEIGHT REDUCED PISTONS
I haven't seen a WRX ever
how
they're everywhere over here
I would think they would be common all over the world because it's a WRX
It's MK... knowing his area they're probably in the 100k range.
And they're already a questionable value at their current cost as it stands.
Shares an engine with the STi in Europe I believe, so there's even less incentive to even try.
Jeez
STi is also discontinued I believe
Not sure
Subaru delivered 381 cars so far this year here lol
^ yeah
Although their cars aren't bad π
Something like a Forester would be perfect for my parents xD
It's not that bad, but nobody wants a CVT xD
Their base equipment is pretty good tho
Yes
I believe there was also one costing β¬125k, or it must have been sold
That's just insane
Yes, welcome to π³π±
I only see another one for β¬109.950,-
Yup I see it xD
60k would be around Focus RS/Golf R money, yes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAyQWHqjXnY Apparently new Sentra is better.

For many years, the #NissanSentra has been synonymous with the kind of car most people wou...
But is it as good as a Camry?
Probably as good as a base Corolla.
I'm looking forward to see what Honda does next for the Civic.
What does that even mean
It means it's an excellent commuter car, and Honda's offering in the segment is getting old.
Personally I think the higher trim Corolla with the 2.0 is gonna be better than the new Sentra.
No manual kinda kills it for me... but I'm not that surprised.
I don't consider trim, just the car itself
The car on its own is vastly better than before.
It's a good looking car
Both Toyota and Nissan have stepped it up this generation.
Time for Honda to do the same. Cause power isn't everything.
Oof that just sounds like a car dealer when trading in: "it's about the car itself not the trim"
When selling the car: "oh yeah it's worth way more because it's the top trim"
xD
That's when you decide what value it has though
Good luck convincing other people.
I think you don't get my point
You can decide whatever you want.
I do xD

I can't because it's not available here
Can't what?
You can decide on the metrics.

And frankly the style alone is a huge step up.
But so is the new Corolla Hatch
We have the best conversations here
Everyone stepping up.
Who knew that all it took was for the segment to start shrinking.
GM should reintroduce the Saturn Astra
Oh wait
They should have kept up with the Cruze.
I almost looked at a hatchback, but they stopped offering those in manual this year.
Rip
More reliable at the very least.
What engine? 1.4/.5/.6T?
6.2
It's just... nice.
Could very well be the 1.4T
Knowing the US I'd say 1.6T
Cheap af
It even looks like a last-gen Astra
Kinda
It looks alright.
It's on the same platform apparently, but otherwise it's quite different
Holden Astra Sedan is the Cruse Sedan, but the Holden Astra Hatch is the Opel Astra
Nice GM, nice
Cruze diesel has the 1.6 CDTI probably?
1.8?
maybe even a 2.0
oh... it IS a 1.6T
But man the interior styling is... blah
Yeah 1.8 diesel seemed very unlikely, GM didn't have a 1.8 in as long as I can remember
It's very GM

The Opel sibling looks more upscale
That's because Opel designers aren't blind
Yes
Yeah Opel ftw
But they changed even less on those
The Buick is just the Opel with a different badge lol
But the Cruze, Trax... We're GM Korea products... And that shows
The Trax looks like something from China
True
I agree
π
Astra is also sold as a Buick btw
Buick Verano hatchback
Although, that will probably end soon just like the Holden Astra hatch and Buick Regal/Holden Commodore
Too expensive because they have to pay Opel xD
Yeah true
GM really shot themselves in the foot selling Opel xD Skimming down entire models on multiple brands
For a relatively low number too
Well GM can't maintain a brand like that anyway
True
On one end I didn't like PSA buying Opel but on the other hand they're doing better than they've done in a long time
Luckily PSA isn't like VAG selling the same car 4-5-6 times
PSA Opel's are genuinely different
Yes exactly
- still developed in Russelsheim
- PSA turned Opel from a company losing money for 2 decades into a company resulting in 800k euros profit within one year
Mhm
And I like some of the cars they released too
I am against the current crossover trend but I do like the Grandland X
And they bought the brand for 2.4 billion... So they already got 1/3rd of the investment back
Yeah Grandland X isn't bad, they also announced a less powerful PHEV now
Wouldn't be surprised if that would sell well
Yeah
Only 4k more expensive than the 1.6T non-PHEV
The less-powerful PHEV is probably just as expensive as the 1.6T, or maybe even cheaper due to lower BPM
Great deal
Definitely
In 2 years probably, yes
Great choice
I really love that car, both the way it looks and drives
I haven't driven it but it looks great
I have, it's imho the best driving D-segment car you can get (non-premium)
Also btw, I have driven both the Grandland and 3008 which it's based on
Grandland X is better handling + more comfortable, isn't it?
The Grandland is way nicer to drive, the suspension setup is a lot better and the steering wheel has the correct size
I like it way more
Yeah and according to first impressions, it's the same with the new Corsa
Better suspension setup compared to the 208
Me being a tall dutchy can't fit properly
:/
Have you sat in it?
My seat is pushed way back to get comfortable z but then the B-pillar blocks my view outside drastically which is actually dangerous
3-door ftw
1.93
Wow
^ 3-door indeed
Nearly none... The Fiesta if you import it, but not in π³π± anymore
I get why most people get 5-door cars but the appeal though
3 door is way nicer to look at, + more practical for me
But an Insignia works just fine xD Even my dad could sit behind me in that one (1.83)
Yeah maybe the Superb is even a bit more spacious, but there's not much in it
Superb drives like a mop tho xD
Haha
I like them both but the Insignia is way less common
Even though it's also supernice
Looking at the sales numbers, it's nut that different iirc
Not that common where I live anyway
Have you seen many on the roads?
I know I haven't
Probably all older GTE's
Maybe
Like 2015-2016
Here in the South, I do see other cars on the road than in the West tho
Tbh I nearly never see Passats here xD
Yeah exactly lol
We're more sensible people. We buy Opels. xD
Last year on holiday, I was picking up a rental car
I had the choice between a VW Golf and a Seat Leon
Leon is the cheaper + better driving car. No brainer
VW Golf: expensive
A3: even more expensive
Leon: cheaper + more fun
Octavia: cheaper + bigger
Spain rental cars
I was just about to ask, but my guts told me it was a 1.6 TDI xD
On paper it sounds boring af but it was a lot of fun on those roads
That still has a 5sp manual, doesn't it?
You don't need more
Not at all
Would only make the car more expensive to rent
This year I had a CLA 180d but the Leon was more fun to drive
Mostly because manual vs auto
Ok well maybe parking sensors, although small damages are good for a rental company xD
It's not the best looking thing ever but I don't hate it
I 100% dislike the rear
But I was surprised how nice the 1.6 TDI with 110 hp was
Didn't feel slow at all to me
Diesel torque
:ohno:
