Around where I live, you have learners for first until you're 16, need 50 practice hrs, then Intermediate till you're 18 with a few restrictions that drop off over time, then once you're 18 it's automagically a full licence.
Restrictions are no passengers (that aren't family) driving alone until 6 months of intermediate, then no more than 3 for another 6 months
Also apparently places have two licences, one for manual and one for automatic. Wtf?
Also, my old slow Lexus RX would be illegal for me to drive. LOL.

for me it was : driving lessons at 16, after ~20hrs you have a 2 year period where you have to have a parent in the passenger seat, you get 3 lessons during these 2 years at the driving school with your parents (1 after a month, the other after a year and the final one after the 2 years), after the 2 years, you have a few lessons, usually 6hrs and then driving test
