I had the chance to buy an Ur Quattro
and then i want a Mitsubishi evo next, but havent found a decent enough import yet
as far as AWD cars go I just want a Quattro. I mean sure the Impreza is great, but the Quattro is something else.
implying imports are better

Imagine not being able to get the car you want in your own country
imagine driving an Audi A2 and thinking domestic is better
I wish they sold the Golf R wagon here
im thinking about painting the grille of my fusion
@hollow thunder here's a question - how much did your fancy cars cost? I paid ~ 100$ for my Lexus RX.
im already gonna be putting 696's on it
paint it pink
nah, burgundy and black
65% tint, because Maryland
I've always liked burgundy and black
@indigo coral i can certainly tell that you did ;)
The soft top had some miles on it but my GF wanted it, was about 11k
the other had no miles and was brand new from the factory at about 22k
cool. Have fun working out from under that debt!
I quite like my car, fairly unique. I've only seen another in this colour a couple times
It's really pretty in the sun, it's got a nice metal flake on it
not quite sure what you believe my income to be that i couldnt just afford a couple of cars lel
yeah not all of us are broke
I hate chrome, and it gets nasty so quickly
Sure it's not brand new, but it's definitely nice and plenty for my first car and considering how little I paid for it... I'm happy.
I paid $700 for mine, and it's pretty much what I wanted
i paid 1k for a drift car some years ago, and ran it into a wall an totalled it
Inexpensive cars can be great, cheap cars aren't.
I'm looking into getting a Porsche 944 (likely turbo because stronger trans) and building it out
944 Turbos are expensive
Eh
just get a regular 944 and upgrade to a FWD Audi 01E trans
I was lookin at one for 5
6 speed and they can handle like 600 hp no problem
for reasons π
oh shit
It's called a project for a reason lol
the 944's have awful weight distribution iirc
they have 50/50
no shit?
I thought it was like really front heavy
Well damn
I've had a few ideas honestly
the trans is in the back
I'm basically gonna butcher it anyways
kinda want to make a car like Gingium
the rally miata
because playing in snow is fun
yeah I almost bought one a while back, was gonna put an Audi trans in it and a 1.8 20vT
then it sold before I got to go look at it
Damn
oh shit i almost ended up buying a Tiburon v6 but it sold before I could come too lol
I just don't want something that lots of people do
I fell like a rally 944 would be something else
it would
this looks like a lot of fun
Exactly
Complete build of the Rally Miata in 6 minutes! Merch βΊ https://gingium.net/ Patreon βΊ https://www.patreon.com/Gingium Gaming Channel βΊ https://www.youtube.c...
im meaning in this level though
I assume you want something more like this though
yeah
the miata? or the 944
Oh no
Wasn't Audi making a diesel v12 at one point?
6.0 TDI V12?
that's it
they do cool things
Wasn't it suppose to power the R8 at one point?
iirc ~2012
I think there was a concept
It powered the Q7
the Q7 is like a Touareg R50 but not as cool
see, thats a vehicle right there
i wonder if it would be possible to modify a gaming chair to replace a drivers seat in a car.....i wanna test that now lol
idk, bumblebee from the transformers movie?
its a mustang with a Z28 front end
π€·πΌ
oof
Wtf
Okay, imma be real with you @hollow thunder
Youre literally no fun to be around
You're a dick*
meh, that sounds like a you problem not a me problem π€·πΌ
meh, at least I'm not talking shit about others cars. To each their own
theres a button up here fam, i suggest you use it https://gyazo.com/64f87b0fe1c7d9d97f443e5f86fdd10b @indigo coral
It's more a you problem
Almost everyone here dislikes you
almost everyone
like 3 people
@silk finch You got pictures of the rear? Because I really thought it was just your average Camaro.
.monkawew.
also, i am intentionally trolling, y'all haven't realised that? fr?
Those are exuses
@silk finch And I thought I had seen a lot of random shit...
Boy was I wrong..
.kek.
punches somebody in the face
"ItS jUsT a PrAnK bRo"
That kind of person are you π
Unlike you
@silk finch I don't know what he wanted to achieve with that to be honest with ya.
Looks really weird, and I hope there is another twist to the car.
Mustang rear, Camaro front and some weird engine config underneath it.
.kek.
Tbh the front doesn't look that bad xD
Yeah front profile is okay, but oh boi...
Let's not talk about the side profile.
That makes the car just look really off.
The side tho
.omegalul.
Yes xD
I mean, [A+] for effort and execution.
But I don't know really how to feel about it lol.
.kek.
^ i agree (:
yeah shit looks jank
That mustang is cursed...
Also the more interior pictures of the new C8 Corvette are revealed, the less impressed I am.
^ what every girls says to him in bed puggers emote
Y'know... GM says the new Vette is aimed at a younger generation.
sure whatever lol
Yet they made the interior budget, the car oversized to fit the girth of a boomer, it's still an LS motor...
It's a corvette. Old man car.
Wearing a curved brim baseball cap and new balance shoes
The stereotypes are totally legit
Lol
GM is making the Vette mid-engine, and killing the Camaro.
Meaning GM will have no budget sports car... again.
We can rag on Ford all we want, but at least they have that 25k entry level sports car in the US.
Because... uhhhhhh
Dunno the real truth tbh. Just a rumor for now, but there won't be a next generation.
I imagine not enough sales.
yikes. Mustang killed it I guess xD
ah here we go. Apparently it has been "delayed."
Apparently GM's new platform is scheduled to roll out in 2025...
Maybe the strike had something to do with it.
Something went horribly during the 2019 redesign of the Camaro..
I doubt it has anything to do with the strikes.
I think GM's ability to plan things out isn't great.
They're gonna drag the current generation out to 8 years.
All new Chevy vehicles had things go horribly, the K2XX Silverado was perfect
Problem with the C8's interior for me is the way the buttons are positioned.
Like I mentioned way back, it feels like it's very lazily made by them.
Didn't know how or where to put the buttons, so just put them in a straight line...
.kek.
It looks whack.
So out of place, in a way.
I just wanted to go all caps. But I stopped myself.
What I was about to say was - Why are the seat vent/heaters not on the bottom?
Wait. What
Why did they do that in the first place?
Just look at where the temp gauges are...
One is faaaaar up, the other one is faaaaar down...
Both people in the car have to reach for the buttons.
And most importantly, this is not intuitive.
Very easy to accidentally press a different button when you got everything lined up like that.
yeah thats really dumb
oh wow
That's far worse than I expected.
I love that the power button is between the fan and ac button, but the temp control button is below the heated seats.
oh wait... no... wait
hold on
IF they didn't know what to do, you know what would've been better?
Touch screens.
Just skip the buttons and go full touch.
Not something I would prefer, but much better than that.
I mean... from an aesthetic point of view... yeah.
okay, I get it now.
The top buttons are for the driver.
Now it's like, you want the AC?
Presses button
Congratulations, you turned off the infotainment.
The toggles are for HVAC temps.
what
It's badly organized.
Cheap and chaotic
the ones for the driver are ON TOP?!
Chevy, what the ever loving hell.
@indigo coral Yup
what the fork?
It's the only place that makes sense.
You can see the arrows pointing
oh... I didn't see that.
Bottom arrow points to the right
I just looked to the sync/auto buttons.
Top one to the left
I'm assuming those are nearer the driver.
So GM built the wall. And put buttons on it.
Well, at least they didn't put a gap in the wall.
So there is no chance that the passenger will grab it when going fast.
Put weird alcantra trim on the center console...
It's a freaking mess.
How did they manage to go back to the C6 in terms of interior quality.
My biggest worry was that it would be a panic handle and infotainment button hub.
That's where the shit show would start.
.kek.
The interior design is a shit show.
I can forgive the tablet infotainment in a sub 30k car.
But in a car that starts at 60k?
tbh I don't mind the "stuck on screen" look in modern cars
in like the previous gen of Mercedes and stuff
Toyota, Mazda, and BMW can do it fine.
Mercedes is setting the bar.
GM is just kinda... garmin'ing it.
Oh, Tesla's screen in the Model 3 looks like it belongs.
S and X are decent, if outdated
I don't have to like the concept, but at least they can execute it.
Kinda sad that the 40-60k Model 3 has a nicer interior than the 100k Model S
So it's bigger, heavier than a Ferrari, worse build quality than a Nissan GT-R...
But the wall makes it look very cramped
The wall is a questionable design choice on all levels.
Those buttons looks super bargain bin.
Like I'm sure the Sonic has better quality buttons.
yeah that interior is full stupid mode
The gear selection button position and the pad for the hand
It's like they ran out of space
Shrink the bezels on the screen, move the screen up a bit, and move the HVAC buttons under the screen.
doug demuro shat on the Genesis G70 interior, but i prefer the aesthetics and whatnot of the G70 (different class of cars I know)
HOW?!
How did they run out of room?!
They purposely made the car bigger to fit boomers.
The C8 is a fatty
The wall literally messed it up
isnt it rear engine rear transmission
why does it need that gigantic center console
I like this a lot xD
its actually sensibly designed
Very intuitive for the driver and passenger
though the touchscreen is a ways away from the driver
My Corolla oozes more quality than the C8.
But I agree, gotta put the second screen more up so it's aligned with the gauge cluster
Remove the wall
And put the buttons in a more intuitive way
One shouldn't need to learn where all the buttons are
It's should feel natural
My Corolla is pretty natural.
hell the interior of our 2013 Taurus SHO is more sensibly designed than the C8 vette
Only real issue is trying to find the air flow control button.
Yeah
Honestly 3 knob HVAC is still a gold standard.
imperfect, but decent
temp, flow, aim.
I mean, the fact that they have to put ARROWS to show what buttons controls what side
Already shows that it's pretty bad
Well otherwise I don't mind the C8
π€ I... hmmmm... I like the corvette logo in the steering wheel.
I think that looks cool.
Lol.
Mid-engine is fine
It's longer, wider, and heavier than competition.
I still prefer the front engine Corvette, but it's whatever
I'd rather spend up and get an Acura NSX.
Design isn't my cup of tea, but it could have been worse
what year did the NSX come out originally?
What I'm worried about, is that like you said, it's quite heavy @dense shard
And it's mid engine now
NSX came out in... 2016?
If the back end kicks out
You know what's even better? An interior with the center console not placed in the middle
Will it snap back like old Porsches did back in the days?
You should have clarified.
I don't have a proper center console
Or will it be manageable
just a bunch of drawers and cupholders
1990 for the gen 1 one.
xD
The NSX was cool. Idk if I'd rather have an NSX, or an FC
No not the center console, I mean the piece with radio and climate controls etc
oh lol
If the snapback on the new Corvette is bad
It's gonna be the next widowmaker or crowdplower
dashboard?
mustang memes intensify
the radio area is part of the center console
the dashboard is the driver gauges and the plastic shelf that stretches across the front of the interior
It's off-centered
(and the steering wheel at the wrong side, but the best pic I could find atm)
That would drive me fucking crazy
the center console is the gear selector, climate controls, and radio/infotainment
Actually, I haven't noticed it irl
While it's something that would normally trigger me like f*
Blue = Center Console
Red = Dashboard
Didn't notice it for 2 years until I saw a similar pic of the car xD
Ah so it is the center console, I WAS RIGHT
Ah yes VAG did that back then
You should see late 80s Subaru with the climate controls behind the gear selector down by the seatbelt buckles
it's a crime against car design
My car has cupholders above all the eletric buzz buzz stuff
what cupholders
looks at early 80s Mazda
you have no idea how often I've brought a cup or water bottle into my FB and then realized, I have nowhere to put this
My cupholders are in front of the shifter... So you can only put some small cups in it otherwise you can't shift xD
Lol xD
Tbh when I take a drink in my car, it's a bottle and I put it in the door bins
I don't have door bins either
RIP
and the ones in my Prius can't fit 95% of bottles/cups
but at least the Prius actually has center console cup holders
cough cough 80s Mazda cough cough
Our other car only has this, which is unusable if you want to use the arm rest xD
it's not a stock radio, and it was broken when I bought the car
Rip
it's been removed in preparation for the installation of my new radio
which is also consequently 250% better than that radio
Inb4 retractable screen with DVD plager etc xD
yea, iirc A/C was an option for this trim; but don't quote me
nah, this is a 90s radio, if I wanted CDs I'd need a gigantic box to mount in the trunk
This is a demonstration of Navigate on Autopilot on Tesla software V10, 2019.32.11. Watch my comparison of Tesla Autopilot V9 (32.2.2) and V10 (32.11) on a c...
heresey
if you're gonna spend that much money on a car you're not gonna drive, you may as well not buy a car at all
but that's my opinion
I still use CDs in my car tbh xD
And yeah I don't think AC was standard on an RX7 FB
#cdgang
A/C might have been standard on the GSL, but was an option on the GS; iirc
I already know my FB isn't an S, and I know it's not a GSL
tesla autopilot cant yet drive in finnish backroads
Autopilot != Autonomous driving, it's basically just lane keeping assist + adaptive cruise control
I haven't used CDs in my car ever
the Prius has a CD player, but why use it when I have Spotify premium
The point is that when you're on the interstate you don't have to be actively driving it
You can still drive it manually lol
afaik, the CD player has never been used, because my dad only listens to radio or his iPod; and I only ever use my phone
I still use CD so I can use my steering wheel controls (:
- lane changing ability + stop sign/light recognition + slow traffic overtaking
I can use steering wheel controls too
because all I have on the steering wheel is volume and defrost
and the FB.......what steering wheel controls
Defrost? Whot
That video of V10 is actually pretty impressive
yea, the Prius has front and rear defrost toggles on the steering wheel
Oof
it might have radio scan, but I don't use radio so idk
possibly disc controls too, but I don't use CD, so I don't pay attention to those buttons
hey, those defrost toggles are handy
every car should have them
I can do all radio functions (volume, next/previous track, next preset, search for radio stations etc, change source..) but the only way to listen from my phone is via AUX... And I hate that xD
esecially my dad's Ford Fusion that has a chronic case of windshield fog
I want to go next track (:
Only button i have on my steering wheel is the horn
get a smart watch then
@tropic silo I know that feeling
I have a modern car with basic steering wheel controls
and I have an 80s car with just a horn and not even an airbag
since i sometimes accidently press certain shit on my parents car
my parents do that on their own cars
but to be fair, their cars have like a million buttons on the wheel
and my mom's chysler has like 3 different ways to change volume
@stoic ledge yea, I can only use my phone over aux. I usually don't change tracks (you shouldn't have to change tracks if you make good playlists anyways), but when I do want to change tracks I use my nose and touch it to my smart watch; that way I don't have to take my eyes off the road
is it a Samsung
It's basically fully functioning L4 autonomy, but for safety Tesla limiting it to L2/L3 until they are satisfied with results
Yeah but sometimes I'm not in the mood for a certain track xD
^
pogey
I have a playlist of some 15 hours in length, I can count the number of times I've skipped a track on one hand
Oof
I specifically curated that playlist for driving. Songs to just listen to, songs to sing along with, etc
all designed to keep me engaged with driving and distract me from whatever bullshit work/school/life is giving me
It's always the best when Running in the 90's comes on while I'm cruising on an empty backroad
Hard style keeps you focused :)
I have a few hardstyle I think
Good xD
I can't wait to get the new radio in the FB tho (and get new door seals)
the old door seals are busted, and all you can hear is wind noise on the highway, can't even hear the engine
and driving around town is kinda boring without some bangin tunes
I'm just hoping Android Auto comes to my Corolla soon.
Mind you bluetooth is fine for now.
android auto and apple carplay are both memes
A meme I desire.
Android Auto is quite good imho
imo it's completely unnecessary
Especially a nice feature to add stuff like satnav to cheaper cars
phone dash mount = add satnav to cheaper cars
But that's ugly
depends on how you integrate it
Android auto is nicely integrated, plays music/phone calls/satnav over your cars speakers etc
speaking of integrating, I want to convert the ashtray in the FB into a pull out cupholder
afaik it shouldn't interfere with the shifter
and it hides away in the console when not in use
Not a fan of mounts.
And if the feature can be made available, I don't see why not.
Practically speaking it's all unnecessary, but the convenience of having your map on your main screen is nice. No squinting at a phone.
^
I mean I could phones are a needless luxury, and you should just use a paper map.
Actually you can get the Android Auto app on your phone looking like the one in the car, but it's on your phone
With some irony I do have paper maps for both Georgia and Alabama in my trunk.
And the corolla does have map lights.
I honestly don't know why I have em.
In Georgia you just need to know which side of Atlanta you are on, and you can go from there.
Alabama is a bit different, but you can still navigate it easily enough
Well there are many signs with larger places around here, if you have even 1% knowledge of geography you can't get lost xD
Pretty much.
And honestly I doubt a paper map would help with finding a specific address.
Lol exactly
Anyway... once I get around to Android Auto.
I'll turn on the voice recognition feature. So I can do true handfree stuff.
I think satnav on the infotainment is useless. Why? because it's not like you're trying to read a book. All you need to be able to see is the blue line and read the exit number in big bold text when you glance at the screen for 2 seconds. No need to have a big ass screen just for that.
Easier to read a bigass exit number.
Also plugging the destination in on a big screen is easier than on a tiny phone.
TBH, even a Galaxy S10 will block out more of my view than I'd like. If I can move any potential line of sight obstruction, I'd like that.
But you aren't wrong.
I mean tbh... ideally you'd have a passenger navigate.
Often times nav apps have a nasty tendency to give you a turn at the last second.
I've always experienced that putting in destinations on the car infotainment is harder:
-no touch keyboard
-the voice controls suck the biggest pp of all time
whereas with the phone, you type in the like first few numbers/street letters and it already predicted where you're going, pick it and set your phone down. Glance at the blue line every now and then to anticipate when it's gonna give you a last minute turn; not like you're trying to read the tiny text of a random street off the highway, so screen size doesn't really matter. Even with my phone on the center console (I don't actually have a dash mount), I can get all the info I need from a 1 second glance and only miss turns when the road layout itself was designed by an idiot
but ofc, I always make whoever's riding shotgun navigate if I don't know how to get where I'm going. I only use my own phone for maps when I'm by myself
I think we've diverged a bit here on what we're talking about.
I'm still talking mainly about CarPlay and Android Auto.
I'm going to assume any built in nav solution to be more clunky and less intuitive to use. I'm with you on that.
Also for what it's worth. My current car doesn't have any place I can do the quick glance down.
well, android auto/carplay don't have onscreen keyboards either
and they actually tend to be slower than built in satnav because you're waiting for two computers to sync with each other
fair enough I guess
I mean... let's be totally honest here.
There is no wrong answer.
Well okay there is one.
And that's staring at your phone while driving.
lol
Apparently it's reliant on implementation from what I could google.
So I'm taking it all with a grain of salt.
I've never been in an android auto car with on screen keyboard

but it sounds like total ass to use
like I can only imagine the lag
types on the keyboard on screen
takes a few seconds to send and receive from the phone
in my experience, android auto has a net increased amount of time it takes to set the maps and get going compared to other alternatives
but you can use whatever system you want
Uh?
You never heard of Bluetooth keyboards for pc

types on the keyboard on screen
takes a few seconds to send and receive from the phone
Imagine that on those keyboards for PC
Bluetooth keyboard for a car nav?
No
Best car is a Toyota Camry
I disagree, best car is the Toyota Camry XSE
best car is 1992 mazda mx-5
Hmm... I think the Genesis G70/Stinger GT is a good blend of performance, practicality, reliability, warranty and cool factor but I'm biased
because i want one xD
I've always thought the S5 Coupe from like 2010 is a really clean, awesome design
no weird cuts or gouges or odd styling elements, just clean and nice looking
I'm definitely unbiased
Not bad
I'm gonna try and get a Model 3 for $61
61$ lol?
Yes, classic xD
feelsbadman
At Supercarsunday he doesnt even rev atleast once
It's his car (: If he doesn't want to rev a cold engine... (:
I'm pretty sure the engine would be hot by the time he arrives at the circuit.
Because my engine is also warm when i arrive there. And we live pretty close to eachother
Why don't you rev your car there? π
Nobody driving in the parking lot
what car is it?
ford fusion
696's?
KMC 696
Today's Vehicle Spotlight is a 2015 Ford Fusion 2015 Ford Fusion , 20x8.5 +35 KMC 696 Pivot , OEM Suspension Wheel Specs: KMC KM696 Pivot Front and Rear 20x8...
Same tires too
Proxes 4 Plus
Ah puggers Nice
?
Ah emote I can't post because i'll get banned
Nice!
Oh
They look nice on the Fusion ;)
Ooo nice!
oh hell yeah
Tis' but a rust bucket
At least fix up the flooring and frame
well yeah
I'm surprised that rust isn't super prevalent up here
I want to tint my taillights but Maryland...
lot's of things I want to do but is stupid illegal
My headlights are illegal and I use them anyways lul
You dont live in Germany and it shows.
?
Illegal Mods on Cars can get you a hefty Fine by the police. And you need to get your Car checked every 2 years by TΓV, and if they find out your Headlights are not TΓV regulated you get a Fine too. thats why modding on cars is way more expensive in Germany then it is overseas.
My state is anal about car mods. Even a small spoiler is "illegal"
The line is probably "Anything that isnt Stock is Illegal" The Same here. a big oof.
I have LED headlights becausmu old halogens were literally dangerous
So.i.dojt feel bad
Iβve never gotten why some people feel the need to swing their cars
Like, youβre driving a damn fusion, not a 65 foot tractor trailer
Swing?
You know how turning trucks come wide when making turns?
you mean like on a right turn they start by turning left a little and then going right?
Turn left to go right
Oh lol
I have to do that on occasion because my turning radius is utterly dreadful
Usually don't
i only ever do it for u turns
And not as bad as trucks*
it's frustrating sometimes trying to park
I always back in when parking
it sucks tho when the parking lot has angled parking lanes
No point of most people going wide on a turn tho
Damn there's a lot of Swedes here
There are a lot of dutchies and swedes here
Also 100kg too much, just rev your engine 100% do burn as much fuel as possible if you get pulled over xD
100kg of fuel is a lot
Β± 120 liters xD
πΈ
I want to see the new Ford GT go up against the new Tesla. Since electric cars don't need to spin up an engine, they can lunge off the line sooner. Before the Rimac Concept exploded, it was the fastest electric vehicle, competing with Bugatti.
There's limits to electric cars acceleration tho
The logical solution there honestly is to build a transmission.
Or make a motor that does 1.000.000 rpm
Sure, or just stick a transmission in it.
That's what the OG Tesla Roadster started out with.
They had a 2 speed.
So does the Taycan and Rimac
All Porsches are damn expensive
Out of curiosity.
Checked if there are any Teslas in my area for sale.
Model 3 for 63 grand.
oof
The Southeast isn't Tesla friendly.
You COULD order one custom.
But who does that.
I've got dozens of them on CL, probably hundreds if you include s and x
I'm looking at new.
On tslas website?
yep
And apparently a Model S with 1669 miles is "new"
wow
My Corolla has fewer miles than a new Tesla.
Lol
Model 3 was the best selling car here last month
That's a lot of mileage for a new car.
"selling"
Usually new cars come with 4-7-10km on the clock, atleast what i've seen (so 2.5-6 miles)
That's average, yeah.
Testing the car, driving/transportation
Anything more than 50, and I'm questioning the new aspect.
Yeah I don't see HOW a new car can get 50 miles, it's used by then imho
Yeah but then it's been used
After a point dealers should sell it as a "floor model."
In the US new means never been titled before.
It's a demo then
Well yeah I also see a car that's being sold as new, 0 owners with 500km, with jn the description it was used for testdrives for a week
So it hasn't been registered yet, driven on a dealer license plate
But that's not new imho
Still asking full price tho
Oof Dutchies have to order their car before October 7th to get it delivered this year
It's going to be cosy at the few Tesla stores the couple of months
Delivering 5000+ cars a month at 4 Tesla stores
Oh cool.
Tesla finally implemented Spotify.
I suppose that is another reason to use Android Auto or Carplay.
Use the music apps you like.
Amazon Music!
My car has Alexa.
I don't like that tbh.
I think its quite nice, very convenient for music
tbh, I don't really care if they listen or not
wtf am I gonna talk about thats so sensitive?
Personal matters, medical issues.
Honestly the HIPPA violation potential should have Amazon running scared.
That's a huge no no.
TIL Amazon Music exists
waaaaa, for real?
Yes xD
It's been around, but Amazon got stupid a few years ago by trying to nickel and dime their services.
I want to watch anime
DO YOU HAVE PRIME AND ANIME STRIKE!?
(For only 10 dollars more a month, you can watch anime, requires Prime)
Ah so it's an add-on to prime?
It was, or isn't? I haven't looked.
It isn't that great.
I know their Alexa, FireTV etc, but music too
Especially if you remember Prime being under 80 dollars a year.
Now it's gone up, and they removed a bunch of features.
It's cheap for students iirc
And that's on top of Amazon beginning to act more like an evil corporation.
I ain't a student.
And Student Prime isn't full fat prime.
No videos and the such in the US... or was.
I think it is around here
Lemme check
β¬34/year or β¬3.99/month for Prime + video and reading
hmmm, nice!
Man. The more I think about building a solar charger for my car.
The more I think I can do it.
What should it charge? xD
Okay, so get this.
Amazon sells a 100W solar panel kit.
Fairly compact. I could mount it to my car's roof rack, and attach all the hardware on the roof. Have a cable run down into the car to an inverter.
I could charge a laptop and other stuff while camping.
Without cranking the engine.
Yes
I know a buddy of mine, who has a trailer with some solar panels and battery for the exact same thing π
And in this case... I can buy a sealed lead acid battery.
20 dollars or so.
I could buy two and wire em up for more capacity.
... would that be parallel or series? I forgot my batteries...
okay, so that would be perfect.
They're fairly small, so I could mount it all on the roof.
I'd just need to build an aero waterproof enclosure.
Or put the batteries inside the car.
Which should be safe?
It depends on how you get the wiring in your car
It would be via trunk. No cutting or bullshit.
The weather seals should be fine tbh.
oof I completely filled up my car boot today
Drilling a hole in the roof of your new car pogey xD
ohohohohoho NO
lol
Honestly Toyota's roof rack is pretty damn clever. No mounting holes in the rain gutter.
But usually there's a DC -> AC converter with solar panels?
It's all kind of hidden away in the door jamb, so no rust worries.
Those need power to Operate
The kit I'm looking at comes with all the hardware I need.
Has a panel, wiring, and charge controller.
and since I'm looking at a lead acid batteries, I can likely get the cheaper kit.
Oof nice
Hell I could probably cut up my cargo cover and mount all the shit on that.
Why the cargo cover?
And get the 72cc kit Savage
Cavernous it isn't.
(jk i prefer to have one too)
oof i think i have a spare
anyway, need to try out a quick mod.
(but there's a gas tank in the way)
I'm gonna update my car to a 2020 Corolla by removing the spare tire.
tbh
idk if i'd even bother to put a spare on if i got a flat
my dads got a trailer
lol
I just realized.
If I go through with the solar setup. I can add a space heater to my tent. π
It'll be enough apparently.
A mini freezer uses 80W.
But it isn't a continuous load.
space heaters take like 1500w
I was joking about the space heater tbh.
heyo
But yeah... mini fridge, phone charger, and I'm set.
Have cold drinks after a long day of drinking cold drinks at the camp site.
lol tent camping is aids
Lol
That's a bit of an oof.
Big OOF
I'm not really the biggest fan of Tesla.
I'm trying to improve the handling of my car π€£
While losing acceleration and top speed
Isn't actually noticble with the 1.9 diesel :9
lol
who cares b out handling
an opel corsa drifts in gravel with turning the wheel
wroom wroom car
@unreal terrace DIESEL BRΓTHER
@unreal terrace dye your seats, dye your stitching, get the red t-molding out
@vital glen Or I swap the front sofas for these
go cheaper @unreal terrace
Meh, I'd want them to last also
Nice, sadly we don't have flea markets :(
I thought every country had those kinds of markets
The sounds in this video are actual sounds from the Jeep. Everyone began rehearsing their parts 2 weeks before we shot the video. It took us 7 hours of filmi...
is anyone willing to help me out find this specific Impreza? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/442376805484199936/630159797131673630/latest.png
the chassis is a gc8 if im not mistaken
and the engine is a EJ20K but im still not sure how to find this to buy it
The first step to buying a specific car is to live in an area where a lot were sold.
Second step is to find out the specific generation of said car
third step is to do research on pricing, average condition, and common issues with the car
fourth step is to actually get online and search for examples up for sale
then follow generic and obligatory car buying advice (i.e. go look at car, test drive, etc)
and btw, googling "subaru impreza generations" gives you wikipedia as the first result. scroll down to the first gen Impreza and you'll see this:
afaik, this is what you're looking for
Which gives you a broad range of years to look for (1991-2001)
But I'd still do your research on these cars before you look at buying one; there could be some flaw or feature/quirk that turns you off
but if you really like the rest of the car's features/quirks and can live with the potential money pit that common (or even uncommon) issues could cause, by all means get one
trust me, no "dream car" is without flaws; and pretty much any old car you buy is guaranteed to have issues, even if it was garage kept and expertly maintained.
In some cases, low mile cars can actually be worse off than higher mileage ones; kinda depends on age. Cars were engineered to drive, not rust under a tree for decades on end
like, if a car hasn't started/ran in years (and it was fine before they let it sit), avoid that listing/seller unless you desperately want one of them and it's the only one available within a feasible travel distance (and make plans to have it towed in case it doesn't start or drive)
and if a car doesn't start/run, don't buy it unless you (or a friend/family member) is knowledgeable in cars and you have some extra cash to put into it to get it running and driving
otherwise you're most likely buying an overweight paperweight; most people get intimidated by things they don't know and it makes them unwilling to learn, so if you can't work on it you'll need someone to hold your hand and educate you or you'll never get it done
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza
Wikipedia isn't the end all resource, but is a great starting point to learning about a specific car. Get on forums and such to get actual advice and info from people who actually own and drive the specific car you're looking for
sorry about the wall of text, but I think this is all good advice that people should follow when they go headhunting for a specific model of car. Buying a particular car is unlike just getting out and buying a generic and reliable shitbox daily, because the final decision actually matters somewhat
a lot of this I did out of habit (from other hobbies) when I went out searching for my "affordable dream car", but it might not come naturally to some people
@ocean hamlet its an impreza wrx sti type R circa 1998/99
^
the 5 door variant of it is rarer, but the 2 door is the 1 to go for
yea
I have a friend who had an Impreza RS 2 door, he sold it and now greatly regrets it
yea
STi, EU only back in the 90s
yea, the STi didn't hit USDM until the bugeye iirc
Oh wow thanks guys
no problemo
i had one soka
Tbh I like cars but Iβm fairly new to this
I'm new to cars too, but I went and bought my first project car
learning a lot soo far
yep gc8 chassis
if u want to find 1 easily that hasnt been molested goto japan π
UK STis of that era were all imports
I already learned how to change wheel bearings, brake rotors, brake pads, swap an inline fuel pump, and more
Iβve been searching of how to import from the internet but I guess I have to really go there?
Indeed
easiest way to import a car is to find a local importer
basically if u can find a 2nd hand one which hasnt been modded u'll be lucky
best way to import a car is to go to a foreign dealership and then arrange for it to be shipped back home
where are u @ocean hamlet ?
One thing is that I need to also see the mileage
Iβm from Portugal
Asscrack of Spain
lol
that's true
Still in second hand here
mileage wont be low on these
I find it hard to identify
like for me, the car I bought sold the most models in the US of all places; so I can get parts cars fairly easily
unless u find a really rare stored example
if a stored example hasn't been regularly driven, it's probably still in poor shape
one with say 90K KM on it would be a safe bet
won't have rust or be dirty, might have difficulties running
over that its gonna be expensive to maintain
yea, that's probably a safe bet tbh
anything that doesn't run 87 octane is expensive to run, lol
yea but these get like 20mpg at best lol
yea
so even if you get 4mpg, its still cheaper
I'm lucky my car averages 20-ish mpg
it's a strange balance of shit city economy and big boi highway efficiency
like 17 city, 30 highway
it's weird
no, it's not even that
just low speed driving guzzles gas on these cars, while highway cruising is super efficient
the science/math makes no sense, but it just works
its bad period lol
i have the latest model its no better
the EJ motors arent efficient
but idc π
I'm not talking about Subaru's, but yea they're not that great in terms of economy
AWD hurts it greatly, in addition to EJ
1983 Mazda RX-7 GS
aaaaaaah π
the small but mighty 12A
im surprised its running π
I bought it from the original owner, lol
dam
engine was in the best shape out of the whole car, lmfao
Is pacificcoastjdm.com trustable?
that's a US importer, isn't it?
no idea
oh shit
they're a Japanese company that exports JDM cars
The owner of the company is from Canada, lul
Not sure how trustworthy they are, but seems like a good place to start shooting. I'd check out other JDM exporters and/or local Portuguese importers to compare pricing and such
Alright alright
I have to think as well that I have to see if it is left hand drive and not right xD
Which on this one doesnβt exist sadly
Only right drive
Is it possible tho to change it?
At that point why even buy JDM?
coz the STi of that year was only JDM
Engine swap.
??
Or just learn to drive with the wheel on the right side.
If you're talking about making a USDM Subaru "JDM"
A lot of the parts are interchangeable I imagine.
no he wants a JDM STi
Which STi.
1998/99 Type R
I didn't know Subaru made the Type R.
STi type R
impreza
oh yea easy lol
