false sense of security leads to people driving too fast on slippery roads and sliding into ditches
I love driving past lifted 4WD trucks stuck in snowy ditches in a FWD vw
We're talking about equivalents.
I live on a big hill. To get to that big hill, you have to go up another big hill. I'd rather not chance it with FWD
You can crash in any car if your a dipshit
Frankly... the Sportwagen isn't a great argument over the Tiguan.
Cause spec for spec the Tiguan isnt' any worse... but it is far newer.
how is a 2019 tiguan newer than a 2019 sportwagen
For example when I get a Stinger GT, it will 100% be an AWD model instead of RWD
The Sportwagen is based on an older platform.
And is being discontinued in the US either next year or this.
More or less.
still both MQB platform, so not really a newer platform just a newer variation of the platform
yep
newer variation
guess we'll have to agree to disagree, I'd rather save the $7k by buying a Sportwagen over a Tiguan but to each their own
Canadian Tiguan is $29k base
24k in the US.
vs. 22k for the Sportwagen
Adding AWD to both narrows that price difference to about 1k.
€35k here 😛 (1.5TSI)
cripes
130hp manual puggers
$24k base sportwagen here, $31k base 4MO Tiguan
Give up your lovely quality of life, come to the US MK. Where the cars are cheap.
Maybe I will 🙂
Well cheaper.
Or I move about .3 of a mile, a cross the border to Belgium xD Where cars are also much cheaper
Man the Sportwagen isn't a great value proposition.
To get any features puts you into the 30s.
Cheapest 4Motion Tiguan is €52k puggers
So VW puts a 5000 dollar premium on the bigger but over the Golf.
lol no wonder they're killing it in the US.
okay, and the Golf isn't that great compared to my Corolla.
you can get a highline with 4 motion and a manual for $29k CAD
4Motion is only with the DSG here (due to emissions, the manual is more expensive 😂 )
Does it come with radar cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, and other nifty features that should come on a car priced at over 25k?
that's an $800 package
The base one doesn't
oof
if I was buying a car I'd rather not have those
I thought that.
Until I started test driving cars.
Blind spot assist is excellent for peace of mind.
Radar cruise is just pure luxury.
The rest are just useful on long road trips.
meh
it may be nice but if I have the option I'd rather not have them
why tho
because
Why look for a car that is less safe?
if I could get one here I'd want an R wagon with no electronic assists
But why.
Yeah, you can drive with all that safety stuff.
Trust me.
I'm driving myself just fine in my car.
I dare say a good deal better than in my old Accord which didn't even have ABS.
the problem with a lot of those systems is that they're subject to failure, I wouldn't want to rely on the car to tell me someone is behind me only to have it fail and run over someone
That's why you pay attention.
I like my MK3 because it has no electronics
These systems don't supplant you. They supplement you.
The blind spot assist is there to give me a 3rd layer of security... on top of my mirrors and my own neck.
Back up camera is there as a second layer of security.
Radar Cruise is pure luxury, and I love it.
That being said. The crash prevention system... I think I finally figured it out.
adaptive cruise is another thing that would be nice, but is dangerous if it fails
Not really.
It just stops working when it fails.
Meaning you have to do as they did in the 20th century.
And work dem pedals.
there have been cases of cruise systems being locked on while accelerating uncontrollably
more than one but yeah
The brakes override the system.
The Prius one was a sham.
Toyota didn't say it outright, but they dispelled all other possibilities.
also Ford had a glitch that never actually occurred but was discovered after that incedent
what year?
he was the head of Mustang Manual Transmission Systems for a while
okay, and?
Modern car brakes can quite easily overpower the engine.
Assuming they don't have an interlock built in.
a lot do
I'll stick with my MK3, no cruise, no AC, no ABS, no power windows
I'll stick with my 'rolla... all those and more.
No AC... Yeah no thnx
I mean I've seen 105 F here in the summer
It's also nice for demisting the windshield in the winter
I've seen 100+ for 3 weeks running this year.
105 F is hot af
Rest of the time 90s.
We had 40.7°C this year, a new record
Only 1 day tho
And I was on vacation so I didn't even notice it 😂
Yeah, I'd spontaneously combust probably
29°C is still hot xD
Wtf lol
My next car is gonna have all the safety features
I'm decidedly imperfect
If the car can help me drive and stay safe then that's great. Doesn't mean I won't pay attention or do my best to drive safely.
Too bad there are many who use it wrong, and they start doing other stuff because "the car will steer/brake/drive"
:(
yeah no. But it's nice to have because if you make a mistake and the car helps you resolve it, it was 100% worth getting
Added security is nice.
Yeah I agree on that, it's a shame many abuse it tho
put a turbo on my NA focus

Who here said that Daimler was no longer developing gas engines?
"On Thursday, news spread around the internet that Daimler is out of the internal combustion engine game, for good. But a spokesperson told WIRED that's not the case. “Daimler AG has not made any decision to opt out of the development of internal combustion engines,” the spokesperson said in a statement, and noted that, because its newest generation of engine was “still in its introduction phase,” there is “no decision to be made on a potential next generation.” Daimler’s goal is still for half of all its 2030 car sales to be plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles."
electrek
Ah yes... an article written by a Tesla stock owner.
go figure
I read somewhere VW is also ending development on gas engines.
But I have my doubts now.
o
X doubt
i find external detailing to be easiest during the night outside
or like late evening
im planning on waxing my windows sometime this week
I'll probably just buy a decent wax/sealer.
I don't really bother with the side windows
And do it in the next few weeks.
just rear and front
make sure when you clean your windshield to also clean the wiper blades and dont use alcohol because it will dry out the rubber
does anyone else watch chris fix
I tried.
his supercleaning videos are where its at
I realized that I have neither the time, patience, or money to super clean anything besides the dishes.
> washing your car
I have my dad to do it for me puggers
"Just use a foam cannon" he says attaching it to 500 dollar pressure washer.
xD rip Charles "^"
i tend to focus on just rims and windows
Do I have to use an orbital to wax? Apparently yes.
I just focus on getting the dirt and dust off.
im probably going to do a major super cleaning sesh once i can get my mx-5 to work again
puggers
the only car ive done a body wax on was on a 12 passenger nissan van
i didnt realize how far off karate kid was
I waxed my car twice since I own it? It's a really time consuming job :(
I'll do it every so often.
That's a hard skip on the Probe.
why?
Probes are interesting
It's a 90s Ford.
Engine is fine, but the rest will likely just... rot away.
Also cars lying around for years tend to have more issues.
Hey, OBS F150s holds the best out of any OBS truck
OBS?
we used to have an OBS F250 with a 7.3IDI
they rust
not as bad as Chevy that age but still pretty bad
OBS being?
technically means "Old Body Style" but when talking about Fords it's this generation
I see.
i got a new ford like that
3.5L ecoboost 2wd long bed
can tow 12,000 pounds
it tows 3 pallets of concrete no problem
or a digger
Yes
Yes
we have a 98 Ram 2500 Cummins
extended cab long bed
2WD
only problem is it's an auto
manual would tow more and use less fuel, but it's hard to find a solid 12 valve stickshift 2WD truck
12 valve puggers
6 cyl diesel, 2 valves/cylinder
Sounds like a yikes to me
Many diesels still use 2v per cylinder
Sounds like an ever bigger yikes to me
Tbh, most gas cars also had "only" 2 valvues per cylinder not that long ago
"Only"?
Well it gives the engine a different characteristic, 2v/cylinder is more low end torque, 4v/cylinder is more high end power/HP
It's not like 2v/cylinder is bad
But high end power = nicer
then ferrari came in and said 5 valves per cylinder is good
and those cars man.. they were good for 100s of feet
But high end power = nicer
Many HP on a truck is useless if you don't have the torque to pull
Yeah 5v/cyl...
3v/cyl is quite rare
LOL
https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ctd/d/kenosha-2007-subaru-forester/6986011685.html is this a good deal?
As long as the timing belt has been replaced. Yes.
It appears as such
Why does Craigslist still looks like something a student made as a project 20 years ago? 😛
^
did you see the ford numbers just released for the new super duty
1050 torque
37,000 towing
1050 feathers
37,000 sand grains
Looks better than the GMC Sierra even.
well now gmc has to do at least like 1100 torque
910 out of their new one.
y i k e s
To be totally fair.
The Ford at best can tow 1000 pounds more than the GM or RAM counterparts.
i think they're just running into legal towing limits with that equipment
i dont even know what towing 37,000 pounds would be like
basically a half loaded semi at that point
wouldn't you say
Not too tragic I imagine.
aren't semis 80k
The Americans finally accepted the SAE test for towing.
And stop removing bodywork to boost the numbers.
I've been up to 140 today 😉
Kmh.
People who don't know how to merge on the freeway annoy me to no end.
Oh. Sorry.
Beep, beep. I'm a 28 tonne truck. Coming through! (In all caps)
ppl trying to get in front of you when you don't want to give them way pisses me off, like, bruh, you have the signs that says you to yield
and they get pissy about it afterward...
Kmh.
Sttt 😛
shhh, let those muricans believe it's mph
But yes, people who can't merge 😡
shhh, let those muricans believe it's mph
You get me smirk
wait until you fly a plane and say the top speed, but without saying knots
wait nvm
a knot is 1.8 kmh
I was just about to say haha
Trucks are limited to 90 kmh here.
I mean, I think they are throughout europe
^ i think they are
But some only drive 89km/h, so you'll have to overtake ofc
Preferably in sections where you aren't allowed to overtake
the 90 thing is only on the accelerator tho, so you can go more downhill
and ppl cheat it with a magnet iirc
I often see trucks breaking while going downhill here on the highway
wait it's not like.. a rule, it's mechanically enforced?
pneumatic brake
yeah it's not i think
don't quote me on that but my bro studied to be a truck mechanic
So you literally cannot go faster than 90kmh? That's a huge yikes
or the magnet was for the clock in thingy mcjig
In the Midwest the speed limit is 80 and trucks go 70-75
it's 80 in 🇳🇱
Ah well, if they want to enforce the 100km/h for cars it's not a big difference
I hope they don't because > driving 100km/h
Y I K E S
Everyone ignores it.
Trucks are mandated to have a limiter apparently, on 90km/h in Europe
^ and offcourse, damn 95% of my km's is over 70/80 xD
Only in town, I drive slower xD
Cars in Japan do have a limiter on them of 180km/h iirc (?)
japan is weird with cars, a 900hp car will be registered as a 278hp car (iirc)
?
i think u mean 80cc
"you can't steal mail bcs it's illegal"
or then it need sto be an motorbrike
doesn't stop ppl from doing it

Honda NSR tekniikka, kaasari ei alkuperäinen (säädöt hakusessa) ja muutenkin keskeneräinen
i still want one of these
Yamaha TZR tekniikalla, Micronin putki ja boyesenin läpät. Nykyisillä välityksillä gepsiin 117km/h. Mopo myyty naapurille (kuski videon lopussa) :)
or this more powerful one
I'd rather have a big boi bike
but i need the license for it
its an basic moped license
for these yeah i guess
but if I want to go higher than 50cc it's an A1 license, then for more than 125cc it's an A2, then more than 30kW it's A
cc doesnt make the license
in france it does
if u register it before makin it
Tilatkaa, tykätkää, kommentoikaa Menkää seuraamaan ig: officialrottaracing Video on kuvattu ja editoitu nopeasti, joten laatu ei ole ehkä kaikkein parasta :D...
if this is driven with an moped license
or almost
aren't those illegal bcs there is no license plate
or are they driving on private road?
ehm
ohm
ehghhm
em just taken off fot the pics
but its common to drive without plates here
yeah they took of the brackets too
besauce police take em easily
you can attach ur plate to ur helmet or bag in finland
if i remember right
what sucks in france is that even backroads, like roads only used by tractors, that are open to the public, are considered as roads and if you get caught driving recklessly or with a vehicule that's not registered, you get f-ed hard
the only way is on privately owned land or road
if you're a farmer/friend with one that's easy, but as a city boy that's complicated
i'm glad do be part of the first group
uncle is a farmer, my parents are friend with a farmer
yeah but you'd need authorization of the owner of the land
in there yes
not here
1.its allowed to pick anything from the forest
if its not too close to the house
you mean mushrooms etc?
lol
at least he's wearing a helmet
yes
why?
did you manage to find a brighter pink and paint an even worse shitbox with it?
Tomorrow is the day we check out a sports car at the dealership and see if we can get it
Won't be cheap for paying monthly lol
Getting new brakes for the FB tomorrow, big hype
hope the stock calipers fit over these rotors, cause they're vented
guess I'll find out lol
@jagged coyote that map might be for trailers.
@stoic ledge @jagged coyote And I've gone triple digits downhill with this truck
Barely over 100 kph. Don't really want to so it too much.
triple digits get kinda scary
I've gone 140 km/h in an 80 zone before
I didn't want to go faster than that though so the Camaro got away
I try not to speed.
^
A Fiat.
A 1.9mjet Punto :p 130hp and 1075kg
i bet it braaaps
Oof the 1.9 diesel puggers
yikes
It's quite a big engine for the car
Most were sold with 1.3 diesels or 1.4 gas (non turbo), so the 1.9 diesel isn't bad xD
For Europe that's a big engine, especially in a small car
When I was stationed in Germany, insurance cost was based on engine size - a 2.0L engine was expensive
Wow
That's why I said "for the car"
In the final years of production, the only engine you could get (atleast in 🇳🇱 ) in the Punto was a 0.9 TwinAir
(or the 1.4T for the Abarth)
I see some figures of 175hp/360Nm, which isn't bad
who the fuck only drives a car for 1km and then sells it 16 years later
nice, unsure how he fucked it up so fast in 1km
probably doesn't work to show odometer so they just fill that in
I somewhat reviewed a car recently and made a video about it
should i share the link here?
Sure!

What many outlets?
I think they all mentioned Fremont dropped the ball here.
https://www.thedrive.com/news/30019/driver-escapes-after-tesla-police-car-runs-low-on-battery-in-110-mph-chase Even The Drive states it was user error. No clue what Freddie boy is on about here.
teslas could be good for patrol vehicul, but the thougth of making it a pursuit vehicule is kinda stupid
Is it?
Police chases don't always last that long, and apparently Fremont's Tesla has been in a couple of chases earlier.
I'm wondering more about how they keep criminals confined. Teslas are hatchback-y... right?
Otherwise, they're quiet, safe, fast, and have pretty long standby times.
at least when they crash it wouldn't be that dangerous to the LEO
bcs those things are tanks
@dense shard I don' think you read the article I sent...
lol
I read the article.
No one mislead anyone over anything here.
More than a fair share of articles mentioned the chase being called off.
And I don't recall anyone denying that Fremont is happy with their Tesla despite them forgetting to charge it that one time.
lol
@dense shard yea, the article was just responding to people who were saying that the chase was called off because of the Tesla
pogey new GT86/86/BRZ/.. confirmed
@stoic ledge ive seen 180-190 from tuners
so with a better IC, filter and 3" exhaust it might do 200
Yeah the ±175 was with stock internals, only a remap
Gotta hope the clutch and gearbox will cope with 200hp
Is it the M32 gearbox?
No idea, 6 speed that's all I know
I'm thinking at 200hp I'd be churning out close to 500nm
And idk if that small of a gearbox can handle much more than that
I found one tuner promising 180hp and 370nm
So at 200 it should be closer to 420-430nm
Oh man a gen 2 BRZ/FRS/GT86 is super news.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the 3rd gen won't be developed by Mazda... considering all these partnerships Toyota is going into.
Very useful
Because who walks amiright? Much better to whip out your phone and wait and hope the car doesn't run into issues
I need to get off my ass and do something about the convertible top.
glare what seems to be the issue?
It's faded
tragic
my engine sounded noisy at 4k+. Guess it's time to blow out the cobwebs. Now it's fine. Idfk.
I will never understand why cars work the way they do.
I know the basic way it works.
But I swear. I wish someone would just make a hella long rundown of each part and what it does, course that would vary based on car
the steering wheel
I meant mechanically. I know how to drive a car, and the fundamental principles of internal combustion and stuff. I mean like how VVTi works, automatic transmission and torque converter, all the AWD stuff, I wish I knew how that worked in detail
Do you have a good background in physics?
Not yet. I'm going to take a shitload of physics classes in Uni and later this year though.
Variable valve timing, twin-independent variable cam timing, anything that's variable timing works basically the same way
On the end of the camshaft, the gear that connects to the belt/chain/whatever that turns the cam has a solenoid in it
This solenoid reacts to a multitude of different thing - oil pressure, rpm, throttle position, etc - and based on the inputs, it can retard or advance timing a certain number of degrees on that camshaft to increase torque
It's mainly designed to increase low end torque, since engines are designed to be as efficient as they can at set timing in the higher rpm range
@indigo coral ^
VTEC works basically the same
AWD is easy. It's either a center diff or transfer case
Automatic transmissions work through arcane magic and lots of spinny gears.
and solar systems, apparently
something like that yeah

Limited slip is difficult to explain since there are several different versions.

Similar names, but I should have double checked. orz
ah well. It's still cool stuff yo. lol
Yeah that suspension system is awesome pogey
That being said. I'm happy with steel coils and non-adjustable shocks.
Oof
I want air suspension from a cayenne. It rarely breaks compared to a Range or Merc but had the same benefita of comfort and adjustable height. I wish my car was a bit lower.
I want Bilstein B6 shocks
It would be nice if I could get my car just half an inch lower.
it would be nice if I could get stiffer shocks and sticky tires
I'd take an inch and a half about. Just to take some of the huge wheel well space away
But that would likely screw me on getting out of my driveway.
I have a ton of ground clearance for daily driving atm, and a completely flat driveway lol.
I should get really aggressive coilovers and put them all the way down
I'm happy with my comfort as it stands.
'rolla is comfy, but doesn't roll much in the turns.
Mines comfy but hooolllllyyyyy shhiiiitttt the body roll
Mine is lowered 10mm from the factory dab Lower would be bad: speedbumps and rough Belgium roads would kill me xD
Doug demuro would have a heart attack
But is it a quirck or a feature?
Why... it has windows switches that make the windows go up and down?
It would get a 1 in handling lol.
iirc he complained about the Model 3 being imprecise and gave it a 4 i think....
His reviews are ultra subjective.
And honestly I don't use him as a shopping tool.
I personally don't find the actual steering to be bad at all. Fairly decent for a first car that's 20 years old. But the body roll is impressive
That being said I'm not basing it off of a comparison to a Huracan perfromante
Throttle House though... Like those guys. They actually talk about clutch feel in cars.
So...

Oh wait
All the 90s and 2000s BMW old style screens on the radio are all dead.... Why?
Because BMW used crappy hardware.
Not unlike all the 90s BMWs have droopy headliners.
Huh
You're talking about those nifty LCD screens right?
A lot of them end up failing, but only half.
So you see half a row of things. lol
Rip
Most are bad, most OEM headlights are designed specifically for halogen, LED doesn't emit light the same way (1 direction vs all like halogen). The mirrors inside aren't made for that purpose, leading to stray light, possible blinding oncoming traffic
If you want brighter lights, just get good halogens (Osrsm Nightbraker, Philips Xtremevision etc). Aftermarket xenon/Led kits are just bad
Or Philips Whitevision or whatever
yeha ill prolly just add auxillary lights instead
pogey
damned thats theres no space on the front of my fiat for them
Put an LED bar on the roof (:
Yikes
How to blind oncoming traffic 101 xD
yeah boy
biggest issue tho, is when you come off the high beams and onto half beam you cant see jack shit
i put in aftermarket LED headlights because the electrical system cant handle more powerful halogens
Don't drive on high beams then?
I hate people with adaptive high beams, those never work
and the old ones were crazy dim
Don't drive on high beams then?
You need to on unlit roads
Even in the nl?
Yes
By law?
like you legally have to?>
I was scared
But, like, it helps a lot xD
I use low beams
theres basically just unlit roads here
Yes
and in my area in particular very curvy
I do change the angle when on unlit roads tho,
Well since our main road is now closed, both ways in and out are basically single car wide
Like from 1 to 0
En lo
Lol
But my high beams also go really far into the distance not to the sides.
So driving with foglights on. Helps alot with up the sides
This is dark af in the evening, and narrow
Oh those roads :)
Yeah on those roads, I also use fog lights
Those are fun at night

there you go
Wankel engine puggers
Ironically, the engine has given me no issues so far
glare how even
lets see, what have I done so far to this car....
New fuel pump
fixed the windshield wipers
topped off the oil, fixed the oil leak
got new tires
new windshield wiper blades
new shocks for the rear hatch
new front brake rotors and pads
new windshield washer pump (yet to go on)
new fuel filter (yet to go on)
new rear brake shoes (yet to go on)
new outer tie rod ends (yet to arrive, I need them before I can drive it much again)
and what I have planned short term:
New interior door handle covers
new radio
fix the rear defrost
various other things I can't think of atm
If you didn't put on 17inch carbon ceramic BREMBOS, I don't know why you even tried
I'd like to see you fit 17 inch brakes under 13 inch wheels
I RIDE ON THE ROTOR capscapscapacapscaps
these are like 11 inch vented rotors
still pretty good
at the very least, there's no pulsing or driver's side pull under braking anymore
and you can actually give it a good amount of braking now
warped brake rotors are terrifying
I run 14inch vented rotors with ceramic pads
I do have ceramic pads
DWS-06 are probably better than what I have on the FB
except they don't have those in 13 inch
Right now I have Barum tires, and will probably get RP18's for my next set
fog lights are stupid tho
not really
If you live in a country where low beams are mandatory they are
I'd rather have break cooling or cold air intake for the engine over pointless lower half beams
@stoic ledge aye!!! Shark easter eggs!
I love those little Easter eggs Opel puts in their cars
Fog lights are placed even lower.
Actually can vouch for them being far more useful than even low beams.
And if your car needs that extra 20 cm^2 of grill space, fog lights are the least of your worries.

You aren't meant to only use them. They're used in conjunction with the low beams
They're useful when there's fog (:
we are allowed to use the front fog on narrow roads, but on normal road everytime I see someone with the front fogs (when it's no even raining/foggy) it just blinds me
maybe i should've used them this morning it was foggy AF
@stoic ledge no
Wot
the fogs aren't actually for seeing, it's for being seen
Not true, front fog lights are a wider bundle of light, low to the ground to shine underneath the fog. Also, low/highbeams can reflect on the fog (not something that happens often, but it can happen with thicc fog), blinding yourself xD Since fog lights are mounted lower down, it's not an issue
Rear for lights are for being seen, yes xD
yeah, i remember when there was fog so thicc you couldn't see more than 5 meters in front, high beam wasn't helping it, made it even worse
tbh I 've never had a car with front fogs, just the one i've got now
Cars with front fog lights look better then those without imho xD
So i'd get it for the looks alone, but it's also usefull/a Safety feature so I require fog lights xD
My Corsa has them :)
I can get a set of fog lights that go into the lower grill inserts
Do it puggers
for like $80 US
I'd have to get under it, I haven't really had the chance to look at the wiring
Idk if Ford prewires cars
It would make sense if they did
But its ford
A car built in 2016 still has a metal rod to hold the hood up
I could always get cool ones, but then I'd have to get lamp assemblies
I know in Opel's (GM ones), if it was available on the trim it's prewired, only thing you have to do is change the switch, covers/lights and add a fuse
No
Odd
I don't have the Fancy Fancy focus
Ah I thought they were standard on all trims over here, but apparently they aren't standard here either
My bad
maybe the newer ones have them on all trims
I might just stick to fog lights
No real aftermarket choices for the non-hatch focus (for tail lights)
Isn't the front always the same? (Hatch/sedan/wagon)? (Excl the ST and Electric)
The front is the same
I believe
The rear is not
Pretty sure I can take the assembly from a newer one if I wanted
I'll get under it soon and see what's the deal with wiring
Only problem with fog lamps in VA is that if they blow, you fail inspection
But you can circumvent it by just unplugging them
Oof
And pass inspection
Virginia's a weird state. Up near DC they require emissions testing but I live in the south of the state where they don't do emissions
Lol that's.. strange
The air in DC is garbage tho, so I guess it makes sense
Oof of the 2575 2011-newer Focus for sale, a whopping 22 are sedans here pogey
Are sedans popular over there?
Nope xD
I can agree with that
Seeing wagon versions of popular sedans in the US is weird
Like a Fusion (or Mondeo)
looks like a small SUV
Lol way to low
Looks like a lowered Ford Edge
Also didn't you guys get the 1st gen Focus as a Wagon?
Fiesta sedans look like pebbles
Or the 2019 Yaris, which is a Mazda2 sedan? Like why
I think the only real reason hatches and wagons arent that popular in the US is because you can get a small SUV for the same price
And our roads are bigger
They are less efficient, no more practical, more expensive and for what? Less handling?
They’re nice for road trips
Full-size SUVs aren't something you see often
Cross-overs aren't nicer for road trips than regular Hatchbacks/wagons xD
Not when the price to fly is so expensive
I mean, if its just 2 people on the trip then take a sadan
But if you got 3 or more the SUV id preferred
The explorer handles pretty well too
Well if you want a large practicle car... A minivan is much more spacious for the same car size (:
Minvans are dead tho, which is a shame tbh
Not the best looking cars but hey they get the job done
Real SUV yes, but we dont have those
Only crossovers
Mostly Nissan Rogue Sport sized
Those are just raised hatchbacks
No larger than a Focus hatchback for example
Subaru makes a good crossover
Subaru sales are nearly 0 around here pogey
323 cars so far this year pogey
0.11% market share
145 Foresters
Outside of AWD... Subarus aren't exactly superior to other choices.
^
The Impreza and Legacy aren't standouts.
They do look quite nice (:
I'll give em points for style.
theyre all slow
The legacy at any rate.
The WRX has other issues.
The WRX isn't sold here
I would say the next gen Impreza will be better.
But they're already on the new global platform.
Well the Forester would be a nice car for my parents xD
The Levorg was also nice looking, but only came with a CVT 😡
That's JDM for ya
i've heard really good things about the widespread ZF 8HP
ZF 8HP is good
once I'm old enough I'll probably go ask to drive a Stinger xD
If not the best auto
the Stinger has been known to have harsh downshifts sometimes but thats 100% rectified by a software update
Amusingly the LeVorg is based on the last gen Impreza/current WRX.
man I hope the next gen STI moves to either the new 2.4 or 2.0 engines.
The 2.5 is done. It's time to retire it.
Sure it's a tuner engine, but it's not doing anyone any favors.
1.6T would be fine in the US tbh.
3L+ 😄
Just a rough guess, but I think 90+% cars sold new now have less than 3L displacement here
yup
its a GM engine
afaik its only available as a crate engine right now
but they sell a few
Ah the big block
lul
Show him my engine
he was complaining that the power hits higher than his 7.2L V8 powerstroke diesel
puggers
I would like the twin turbo ecoboost tho
Tsssk get the 1.0 EcoBoost
why would we get tiny shitty engines when we can get big ones and pay the same taxes
The NA has good pull
lmao
I'd bet over 75% in 🇳🇱 sold gas powered Fords have the 1.0 EcoBoost
Others are 1.1 NA or 1.5 EcoBoost
thats cause your taxes are crazy
They sell a good few in the US
No well soon the Explorer PHEV is going to be cheap
ye some cars with teeny engiens sell here
Because it's super environmental friendly
yeah finally getting a fast car over there thats not tax laden
""""super environmental friendly"""
/s
it gets like 20 mpg doesnt it?
I imagine it pushes past 30.
The Suburban hybrid did 20.
Irl yes, but in the EU test cycle it can do like 90% on EV power only
The EU test cycle is optimistic.
27/29
Our explorer averages about 19
27/29 makes sense.
So the results are not achievable in reality
A bit low still. I'd have hoped 30/30.
Yeah the EU cycle is inaccurate, especially for PHEVs
its weird the NL gets the 450hp Interceptor type powertrain
while the US only gets the 318hp basic one
for the Hybrid
I average about 30 mpg
My city/highway usage is about the same
So i’m at the median
My volvo would do max, 21
US will likely get the 450 horsepower model in the ST model.
highest I've gotten was 24
