The "spoiler" on my car also blocks visibility. But it does give you a clear view outside even with snow, ice, rain, anything. But its at the lower partof the window. And for short people, they look directly at it.

Structurally they're plenty strong

Brakes are fine

2wd doesn't stress the transmission like 4x4 does

They don’t want to be liable for things like frame cracking or loss of life from poor towing practice. If you don’t want to tow 12k then don’t. Buy a bigger truck. It can do 12k all day. Gas mileage will be shit but it’ll still do it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

My truck is rated for 10k bumper and I think like 16k gooseneck. I wouldn’t put more on the bumper cause it’s hitch limited, but I’d be comfortable putting 20-25k lbs on a gooseneck. I’d need some more power but it would do it
