Mileage doesn't really tell anything about the condition. A car with 100k km can be in mint condition, but a car with 3k km can be trashed 😛

But, overall, a Z8 (Alpina = auto, non-Alpina is always a manual), will be worth quite a lot 😛 Hell, I see the prices over here varying from €180k (120k km) all the way up to €300k (1600km).

So, first of all, the tax is called BPM which stands for "Belasting Personenauto's en Motorvoertuigen", or in English "Tax cars and motorvehicles".

Over the years, there have been different type of BPM taxes. In the early days, it was just a % of the cars value. Somewhere in the 21st century, they changed it to a tax based on the cars CO2-emissions. Over the years, the rules got stricter and stricter (in other words: the taxes got higher and higher).

This tax needs to be payed the first time the car is registered in the Netherlands. But, when you are importing a car of X years old, is is not fair to pay the tax based on the sticker price of the car. So, the dutch gouvernment created a special depreciation table which discounts the tax.

So, if the tax was €10k when the car was new, based on the depreciation table, it is only €5k is the car is 5 years old.

Since the Z8 is 17 years old, there is not much left of the €50k tax when the car was new. Since the depreciation table is based on a average car, a 17 year old car normally isn't worth much. So, the tax required to pay is not €50k but only €1k after 17 years.
