IK this isn't really about cars but it's about a carburetor. Our carburetor is wonky on our snowblower. With the choke all the way out, it idles fine. However, as soon as we push the choke in, the engine revs up violently, sounds like it's going to explode. Any ideas?

Where would that be located? On the carb or somewhere else? When we disassembled the carb to replace the float and seals I didn't see it on the carb if that's where it would be.

the idle screw is on the carb.
if you dissembled the carb i have a feeling you took the screw out, cleaned the carb and put the screw back in until it was tight (i think this is max idle but i forget)
The idle screw should have a little spring on it, but sometimes they dont. it is accessible from the exterior of the carburetor. but id have to see a pic to show it to you. all carbs are different.

Ok, I can check. The only screws on the carb were to put the bowl back on, but I'll look around for the screw now that we have it all assembled.

i wish i could explain better, but there is a round chamber kinda behind the intake (usually behind or above the choke plate) that all the jets spray into. one of the jets (idle jet) is adjustable with that screw.

We took all the jets out and the float and we left in the throttle flap, choke flap and that since we completely missed it.

if you did take out that idle screw it may need adjusting. but i cant hear or see the engine so im guessing kinda blind at the thing.
But my guess would be on that idle screw since if its adjusted wrong it will idle that engine super fast

Before we disassembled it it had the same issue and was very hard to start because the float was bad. We will check the idle screw. Thank you so much for your help!

yea a bad float will mess with that intake pin that the float controls. if you dont have any magic parts just sitting on the bench and everything was put back where it came from it probably just needs adjusting :)
carbs are finicky things. i have had to clean them twice before because the first time it didn't quite get everything out.
worst case is take it back apart and check everything out

Yeah we will check that idle screw for sure. We replaced the float and we were able to start it but we ran into the issue with the idling. Thanks again!

If you get a TT kit for it, the price is still good (depending on the size of the turbos ofc)
And it's also all about knowing the model
The BMW's with the N54 engine, people tend to recommend to buy one with something about 100K kilometers

Not 100% sure how the traffic rules are in the States, but isn't it possible both you and the traffic from the opposite direction had a green light ? Atleast it is possible "here" (across the border, Belgium), and people taking a turn left have to give way to oncoming traffic

@stoic ledge so what happens is, at 4 way intersections some lights have arrows indicating when you can turn. If you look at my light, it looks like 2 distinct greens because i had a protected left turn. The opposite side of the intersection was red, and if you look at the car next to the guy who hit me, he didnt even move.
And im super sore. alot of pain

@vital glen Yes, but it's a reasonably narrow + lower tyre for the rims size which makes it more expensive. Most 195-width tyre are 195/65/15, most 16"-tyres are 205/55/16. 195/55/16 is a more uncommon size, thus more expensive (about 80-100% more).
It's cheap compared to the huge ass truck tyres, but for normal tyres it's not.

Saturday, drove for a few hours straight without issue. A few hours later, drove for like 15 mins, and my check engine light came on (orange) out of nowhere, no issues driving or anything, and no other notification lights on. Did some shit, drove again for like 15 mins without issue, but the check engine light was still there.
Fast forward to today, I get in my car, interior lights are working fine, go to start my car and the dash lights come on, and then all the lights flicker and the starter can't do shit. Seems like a dead battery. As for how it died, no clue.
I replaced the battery this summer with another of what I had been using for nearly 4 years before.
