400 low deck stroker 7.4 ish liter
not bad
but i like the 440 better
and the new crate motor dodge just came out with a 426 1000hp crate all oem
@fathom socket just be one of those guys with a 1050cfm carb
Can't reed ๐คฆ
Wow that's no small fire
Looks like in habgkng out for a bit
R.I.P good luck with that
Oh well at least its not too small
it's basically smallest you would want to get
The engine my dad built for nitrous 20 or sobyears ago
He now wabts to do a turbo build but it's not happening with 11:1
lol, you can make it happen
I need some new pistons and lower compression forsure
But that's for when I have thr money to do it
All I need for the new heads is rods and rockers
I made the mistake of buying cast iorn pistons
What was the build
Another lambo
Lada 2105 ?
Dayyymnn @fathom socket those chargers are worth some money, I know where about 5 of those 60โs chargers are in a field in the woods, mixed in with probably 7 1972-1974 chargers...
Let's hope my shop doesn't catch on fire
Guys I am half way done with my build. Phanteks enthoo luxe case, z370 carbon pro mobo, 16gb tridentz ddr4 3600, 1tb m.2 ssd for boot, evo 860 1tb for storage. About to get my hands on the 8700k and probably going to buy a 1080ti
@halcyon plover with that root 8-38 super on it?
@fathom socket someone threw a cigarette bud into a pan of oil in my dad's old chop
I got her
Needs really light bodywork repair and a retainer for the seatbelt buckle to stop it dropping on the floor
Love them both @primal kelp
Itโs a fucken unit mate
That e30 I have has 325000 miles it needs some median body work
I just bought a second car until I finish fixing my other. And it's the combination of two things I hate: Ford and a minivan
@fallow crescent BUILT TOUGH
Yeah, it's got to survive all those towings
don't tell me it's a Windstar
those are garbage
I like Ford but that was a terrible vehicle
ford laser 1989 built like a brick house and comes with a/c and power steering :P to bad i no longer have it since no mechanic would touch the suspension
also i cant decide between a older toyota troop carrier or a nissan patrol
both have the space and fuel amount i want
@carmine summit
Yes
It was $500
Then I'll dump it on my sister when I don't need it any more
@fathom socket what's the thing on the windshield and if it's a radar detector, aren't those kinda pointless? I mean, I know a guy whose detector was set off by a passing car with backup and bumper sensors, lol.
I've been using my radar since I started driving you just need to understand how it works the cheaper ones are shit but the more expensive ones can be updated to block out false positives. Its grest for freeway travel at high speeds
Never gotten a speeding ticket and have always been saved by it
You jusr have to use it smartly
@lime copper as long as you use common sense with the radars and keep the software updated you are good to go.
That one is a Valentine v1
In my parts, the cops don't pull you over for speeding. Ever.
I usually go up and down California at 125ish
Speed limit's 70, cops go 90.
๐บ๐ธ
Cops literally only care about accidents and homicide here. Speeding only matters in the small area west of here.
It can pickup signals from 40+ miles away under the right conditions s
Usually it gets 2 miles since California is very mountainy
But when I'm in Nevada it's pretty nutty
Lol, like those 40 mile range hand radios that only work for like a half-mile max
It depends on the environment
I usually drive in the canyons and the hand radios are nice but will go out 2 corners away
anyone have any classics?
I have a 70 charger rt
nice
good looking car
I has a 68 fastback mustang
and a 68 mini wagon
and a 1970 1275 mini
lol
lol
older mercs are nice
The new ones in my opinion are too plasticy
that being said
Most new cars are the same
Its hard for me to find a knew car I lkkr
My brother got a civic type r
Super nice
No understeer
Want that
Want that too
And that
hondas are reliable cars
@heady vine Not all of them... Civic's with AC-pump which die frequently (I know a guy which has replaced the pump 3 times (!)), Civic Hybrid with broken batteries just after the warranty expires, Civic & Accord Diesel with replacement clutches after only 50k km/30k miles, 2.0 gas/petrol and some diesels using too much oil... The right models are reliable but not all of them are perfect
Who buys hybrids though?
As far as millage goes on fuel
It depends how u drive it tbh
Clutches are the same
If u abuse it
Itll abuse ur bank account
batteries cant say anything for them except cars usually do break like a couple days out of warrenty
Excuse my spelling
Most Honda's sold in my country were the hybrids :) Ofcourse due to tax regulations..
And no, clutches were not ruined because of bad driving, they were just badly designed. Only on the diesel models, so I guess they can't handle the torque? Also, there are cases where the clutch is "sticky" so you were basically driving around with the clutch engaged for 5%, which just ruins the clutch.
Civic Hybrid were really bad tho, they fixed the battery issues on the Insight
Honda doesn't really sell much cars anymore in my country, they have a market share of 0.29% at the moment. Best selling Honda is the Honda Jazz (Fit) which takes up 40% of Honda's sales (#140).
Honda Civic (#160) takes up 30% of the sales, 25% of the sales is a HRV (#166) and the remaining 5% is a CRV (#227)
(# = ranking most sold car)
Don't get me wrong, overall they are pretty reliable, but not perfect
Most reliable car I've ever been in was a 1986 Civic
That's saying something considering we've had old VW diesels for years
Funny thing though, my dad got the car out of the back row at a dealership, drove it to the front to get a dealer plate, and then it wouldn't start. Push started it right in front of the dealership lmao
The VW ?
The Civic
Hehe probably a dead battery after sitting for a while
But ofcourse it was
Try such a repair on a modern car.. won't work
I don't really remember the car because not long after I was born my mom switched from it to a 1988 Volkswagen Fox
And then to a 1991 Jetta
And then to a 1990 Golf
And then to a 1996 Golf
And now a 2009 Jetta
The only car we've had reliability issues with is the 2009 Jetta
Wow I didn't know there was a 1988 VW Fox
And yeah modern VW's aren't what they used to be
Ah the '88 Fox isn't the same type of car as the Fox we had here
Yeah I had to Google that one, didn't know that ๐
Looks kinda like the 1st gen Jetta we had
Iโm pretty sure car people would enjoy that a lot more than most people in the game chat.
So Iโm pretty sure that itโd count as cars...
Nice car shots though
Gotta love that Carrera gt
Definitely an amazing pure driving machine. No ESP, N/A V10, RWD... ๐ฆ
The new forzas are such nice games though
Litterally only got it to listen to the cars lmao
oof
Yeah, they really do
Just a V8 wagon
6/10 pics but I always thought those were underrated cars
Saw one with nice big arse tires on it last year and it was just ๐
I enjoy it. Fits the bill as a family hauler and has some decent muscle
4WD too right?
Nah shes just RWD. You could get a 4WD but that added about 300 pounds to a 4200lb car and limits how much power you can output before you blow the transfer case.
Ooo yeah no. RWD is spiffy enough
If I lived further north then IL I may have considered a 4WD more
It's not FWD though, that's something you can appreciate
Yeah. Though I've had some fun FWD rides. Sadly no pics of them.
Best was a 92 Isuzu Impulse RS.
1.5 turbo five speed AWD, though it was a fwd that could do AWD when grip was needed if I remember right
Yeah, if the right car has FWD it can be fun indeed
But rwd is more fun
i've got a 1.5T civic and it's pretty spiffy. Got stuck a couple of times in the white canadian wastelands though
Renault Megane III RS for example ;)
And I believe that's how the majority of AWD systems work. They can deliver XX% of torque to the rear wheels during low speeds / takeoff then they just transition to the front
a viscous-coupling all-wheel-drive system with a 43:57 rear-biased torque split
About the Impulse RS
@gray fox viper swap it
@vital glen if it wasn't my daily
@gray fox you can always walk
If I didn't have a kid I might be tempted
My dad tells me stories of when he had bikes, sleds, and fast cars before me too
My dad had a 1974 Ski-Doo with an engine off of a Rupp race sled when he was my age
He had a 1974 Can-Am 175 that he bought literally in a basket for $150
revved to like 11,000 rpm
when he was about 18 or 19 he had a Pontiac Astre wagon with a Buick V6 and a 5 speed
So if anyone's seen the new mid engined Vette, it looks nothing like the one that was previewed.
I see the design inspo
looking at the logo it is supposed to be a corvette..?
Yes, the next Corvette (C8) is gonna be a mid-engined car they say...
but...
it really is a Ferrari ;_;
looks like a car from GTA online
it's nice but really not corvette
Yeah, if it's not plastic fantastic front engine rwd then it's not a vette
If you're gonna made a mid engined car GM just bring back the fiero
Also can we get a Preformance car that regular people can afford GM, these halo Cars are nice and all but offering a V8 in the Malibu and making a Malibu SS that comea in around 36K might be nice...just sayin'
There are no GM-cars sold here anymore so ๐
No wait scratch that, Cadillac's are offically sold here
(Well technically the Opel Insignia, Ampera-E, Astra, Mokka X... are still GM vehicles (Buick Regal, Chevy Bolt, Buick Verano, Buick Encore...) )
I'm waiting for round 5 of "Import a Holden and rebadge it instead of producing it here as an option on one of the cars you make stateside that uses the same chassis cause it's worked so well for us the past 4 times..."
Well a lot of the rebadges cars were originally Opel's (like the Buick Regal, Cascada, Encore...), but they have sold Opel now...
lol i didn't know buick still exists
and it's ridiculous, the cars you mentionned are just rebadged opel indeed
encore is a opel mokka for example
that's ridiculous because these cars really don't look like american cars xD
now Opel is part of Groupe PSA
Well no they don't look like American cars.. because they are European ๐
Opel is making profit again after 25 years of losing money ๐
i know that's why rebranding it buick is fckin riciculous
but hey, there is another european vehicle that's "rebranded" in USA (but it's not the same so not just rebadged
Well Buick is suppose to be a more Luxury brand, and European cars are often Luxury brands (Volvo, Audi, BMW, Merc) so rebranding an Opel (European) is premium = ๐ธ
What other vehicle is rebranded in the USA ?
Can't really think of any but i'm probably wrong ๐
i don't know its name i'm looking for it
it's a utility vehicule
dodge
the ram promaster
that's originaly Peugeot boxer / Citroen Jumper
yep --'
fiat take it from Groupe PSA and dodge is part of fiat so it takes it too ^^
but i don't think it's the same engine lol
Dodge Sprinter was a Mercedes Sprinter too
and the chassis is different, made by dodge
"we", USA?
ah, i was like ๐ค
Hehe nono
but it's not "small", it's decent
they don't need to put big v6 or whatever they put in it these USA guys
yep but compared to american engines it probably is small
I know
and V6 HDI doesn't exist anymore ๐ข
the biggest engine for boxer 2018 is only 160HP
Oh wait is wasn't the V6 but an I4 3.0HDI
๐ข
Well 160HP is enough for here
Most of them are 2.0 HDI's tho
meanwhile in sprinters, 300+ HP xD
160HP is enought most of the time but in the big size boxer you can put a loooot of things so HP are useful some times
that's why mercedes make sprinter with those big engines
"313 CDI 43S 3T5" doesn't mean 313hp ?
No no no
ah no lol
x13 = 13 * 10HP = 130HP
but i think there are bigger engines ๐ค
so the biggest seems to be Diesel V6 3.0L 190HP
I said bullshits sorry xD
But i used a Citroen Jumpy HDI Fap 136HP and it goes fast ! (i mean for me, guys from USA are probably looking at us like "lol what are those grandmas")
when it's empty it jumps when you push on the throttle ๐ (so its name fits lol)
I' e driven the Boxer 3.0 HDI and it wasn't bad either
I'll send you a pic of my car, guess the country based on the licence plate :)
np
so it's yellow and i can see 2 letters so..
i think is see NL but not sur..
could be that
Ding ding ding you've won ๐
And you ?
Is this... ๐ซ๐ท
ahh fack
๐
easy with the right part
yea
We've owned a 2003 307 Break (not SW)
So also a Phase 1
Had it for almost 10 years
Break is an SW without panoramic roof
Ah we were second owner (: We replaced it last year
that's good car, i'd like to buy a better one when i could but also keep this one for daily
but i will have to bring it for the technical control (every 2 years) in less than 2 years and it won't get it right ๐ฆ
but there will be too much things i'll have to do on it...
We need the get the car checked ever year ๐ฎ
because this (i dunno how to call it?? control? check?) had been changed recently and there are much more control points ๐ข
for "normal" car it's 2 years here
maybe more for older cars
We haven't changed it in a while..
But yeah not all cars have the same time between checks
Varies from fuel, age...
Diesel/LPG (GPL for you frenchies :P):
- First time after 3 years, then every year
Petrol: - First time after 4 years, then 2 times after 2 years, then every year
i don't know how it is for the first time here ๐ค
but for "normal" cars, petrol or diesel it's the same, 2 years
it varies when it's commercial versions, company vehicules, etc
and old cars like before 199X i think (i don't know the year exactly)
Light commercial vehicles are in the same category as passenger cars
Heavy vehicles (3500+kg) must go every year
Funny how it's different in every country
But we are all part of the EU
there s something funny; i have a friend who has a Peugeot C1, 56HP diesel and it's a commercial version
it has no back seats
Hehe yes I know those.. pretty funny. Also Corsa Van's and Fiesta's as a lightweight vehicle
Sadly you can't have them in the Netherlands
my car is HDI 90 and it's 5 "tax horsepower" (dunno if the translation is correct) but his car is 6 XD
just because it's a commercial version
The cargo-area must be of a certain size
and he has to check it every year
yeah, the best engine
We had the 1.6 16v (petrol)
sadly now it's "blueHDI", it has the FAP (particle filtre), it's 1.6 or less...
The new one are 1.5 eHDI if i'm not mistaking
Also, still think the "FAP" name is pretty funny ๐
lol ikr
it's for "filtre ร particules"
that is pretty understandable for english people i think
I've been to school in Belgium, had 5 houres of French every week. I understand
๐
๐ ๐ฆ
(maybe we can continue in PM ?)
Well If it's about cars we are still on-topic
Also, I understand French, speaking/typing is another story ๐ ๐
i know but it's going out lol
just to get back in it, look at this beast https://www.challenges.fr/assets/img/2018/06/06/cover-r4x3w1000-5b17a6b21d442-2017874-s6qfojuq9b-jpg.jpg
๐
i like how Peugeot is going
Love the new 508
Not that exited about the rear leg room tho
It's a bit small in the back
(those are the things I worry about since I'm 1m93)
It's even smaller then the previous gen ๐
it's inspired by german cars so there is this low end but because of it the rear seats aren't really nice for tall guys
Peugeot said they based it on the Audi A5
especialy on the normal version because the roof is going down
but i don't think leg room is a problem on both 508 exept if you're 1.93 (and lots of cars will have the same problem with that)
True but cars like the Insignia or Superb are much more roomy ๐
and if peugeot does hybrid versions of the 3008, 5008 and 308, 508 will have it too
that's for sur
3008 and 5008: Hybrid4 300hp (225 petrol)
508: Hybrid 225hp (180 petrol)
At least that't what they said 2.5 months ago
a 208 hybrid sport would be great
same for me
yes, august 2016
you had to but did you..?
Well I could drive in it with one of my parents sitting next to me, but I wasn't allowed to drive in it on my own
(I had my licence but I was still 17, had to wait until I was 18 before I was allowed to drive alone)
Didn't risked it either, If they caught me...
๐
Had to buy it tho, they are not very common (Corsa with factory GPL/LPG) and it was good priced, and it was nearby
Also, I could drive it on the day I got 18 ๐ ๐
Which, ofcourse, I did
i didn't need to wait to drive mine because i had my licence july 2016 and i bought the car after that
Smart boy, I wasn't ๐
Well I had my licence
I Just wasn't old enough
I got mine in April if i'm not mistaking..
maybe i could have done the same and get my lincence at 17 but i was too lazy so i've got it when i was almost 19 xD
and i needed it for september so i had to get it
Mayby some explanation:
- You can start to get driving lessons at 16.5
- You can get your licence at 17
- With your licence at 17, you are only allowed to drive with your parents
- At 18 you can do whatever you want ๐
Aah okk
Well I needed it in september that year so
pretty same as here i think
there are 2 ways to get your licence: the normal way; theorical exam then at least 20h of driving then the exam
or you can do the same + 3000Km on your own with an adult (who has his licence for like 5 years) and then the exam
if you do it the normal way you have the "young driver" status for 3 years
with the onther way, only 2
Oh damn only 2 or 3
In my country it's 5, of 7 if you got it at the age of 17
So I'm 7 years long a young driver
๐
O.O
Not that it really matters... only difference is the drinking limit but drinking and driving is either way a bad idea so.. i don't really mind
i don't remember, you also have the system with points?
so 6 / 12?
Need to check, not sure to be honest
95% of the time I drive my car in Belgium
And they cannot put points on a dutch license
๐
yeah just like when swiss drive in france
they can go fast because they don't risk anything lol
too fast for the speed limits :p
No comment
๐
You can only get points when you...
- Cause danger or traffic jams
- Cause an accident in which someone dies or has big injuries
- Tailgaiting at 80+km/h
- Driving speedlimit +40 on freeways (+30 on other roads)
Not really things I was planning to do so
I'm not worried
hmm
(suprised drinking and driving isn't on there tho)
it's not difficult to get points retired here... burn a Stop, red light, don't let a pedestrian cross on a crossing (but you got to do it in front of a cop or go really hard), getting caught drunk / high, driving without belt, going to fast +10 and more (anywhere possible), burning priority to another guy...
too much cases
Wow, rip
there's a 5Km margin
if you're going 55 instead of 50 it's okay
but if you're going 56 and you get caught you're fucked
so it's not even 10 xD
Wow
Well we have a 3% margin
Or 3km/h under 100km/h
But yeah your speedometer is always lower then the actual speed, + margin...
and me for example... i was flashed by a radar twice in a week (same place) at about 100 instead of 90 (i didn't see the speed limit, it was on the highway where it's supposed to be 110 but there where roadworks)
๐
and it was in octobre 2016
so few months before i get my license
i lost 2 points (out of 6) and paid 90โฌ
Wow that sucks
that's not all lol
if you lose 1 point when you're young driver it's ok, you get it back after a year i think
and then it's normal, 12 points when you're not young driver anymore
but i've lost 2 points so i've got 1 back but not the other + because i made 2 infractions during my young driver time, i didn't get my 12 point .......
it may not be clear because i'm not a very good english speaker so to resume:
i'm not young driver anymore but i have 5 / 12 points -_-
and i still have to wait 1 year (if i'm right) -without infraction- to get my 12 points
Wow that really sucks
Not that it should be necessary if you drive "right" but it's nice to have a buffer
yep you never know
there are some nasty radars
and sometimes you can be distracted
True true
On my daily ride, they can only be at 2 spots
But everybody knows them
๐
So everybody brakes at those points
(they litteraly have paved pieces after a bridge so they can park the police car out of sight)
for the past 2 years i had to pass 2 radar (or even 3) a day...
but now not a single one ๐
Wow that sucks
Well in the (outskirts of) the city, there are camera's every junction.
But no problem because you always have to stop for a red light
oh and it was without cops hidden in their cars behind a bridge pylon on the highway lol
See for yourself ๐
Where to?
you can't do anything with your car ๐
Not the Netherlands, too much taxes ๐
Don't they speak french in some parts of Canada? :P
quรฉbec!
Go there ๐
yep i like Canada I really wanna go in america but i don't know if i would live in USA or Canada
and it's not like you can "try" easily
I totally understand
i know! i need to get money $$ so i can keep a house in france and go anywhere i want 8)
now, how to be rich? ๐ค
lol XD
Or win the lottery ;)
This 3D-printed titanium wheel looks like Lego. Apparently, this method allows for more complex designs >> https://t.co/ykhZgECkdH
174
crazy!
Nice
hre
Get one now before it becomes a huge money pit. Also you mean the new new not the early 2000 rebadged golf
Active Aero = look at this rear flap move an inch
Yeah early Turbo models had it... It's indeed a small flap which comes up at around 70-80mph
It was on the New Beetle (based on the Mk4 Golf), not the "New New" Beetle (which was just referred to as "Beetle" )
Not quite. there's the "Beetle," the old air-cooled one. The "New Beetle" is essentially a MK4. And the current one is called "The Beetle."
Really, "The Beetle" ? We just called it "Beetle", it was also marketed like that by VW
Volkswagen Beetle (A5)
Also called:
Volkswagen The Beetle
Volkswagen Coccinelle (France)
Volkswagen Maggiolino (Italy)
Volkswagen Fusca (Brazil)```
Hmm didn't know that
The actual, original name of the car is only "Beetle" tho
Don't waste your time on the Golf derived New Beatle, things a money pit. Wife's 2.0 GLE ate oil like no body's buisness took 2.5 hours to change the spark plugs on, and never once just ran without issues
Never gonna buy a VW so no problem ๐
That is some german engineering at it's finest
The last 20 years, it all went downhill with VW
Best part is for the oil consumption (about 2-3 quarts in 3-4k) VW knows of the issue but says that level of oil consumption is to be expected in modern High Tech engines.
So it was either tear down the engine and install the correct piston rings (rumors indicate they put the wrong ones on at the factory) or just use cheap oil and sell the piece, I chose the latter. She now has a 06 Jeep Liberty Sport which aside form a water pump has been trouble free for the past 3 years and 50K
@stoic ledge They started to fall after they left carbs
Yes after the Golf Mark 3 was the last one with carbs (1.8 with a whopping 75hp). Golf Mk4 is available since 1997 so 21 years :)
Also, 1 liter every 1000 km (600-ish miles) is normal according to VW
that's called bad design
Assuming ur talking about beetles
The engines in general are a bad design
Very unreliable
though the older ones are a great car to do an engine swap
@vital glen yes it is. My 5.7 Hemi nearly eats half a quart in the same millage
calling it slow
We also had a 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8 (nu turbo) ๐
@carmine summit no
The Beetle is also known as Carocha, in Portugal
@vital glen it's not bad design. It's not that weird for an engine to consume oil
1 liter at 600km, that's almost a total-loss lubrication system
That was 2.5K RPM
With or without Performace pack ?
Sounds like a dirt bike or maybe a suped up lawnmower
@stoic ledge Portuguese versions only come with the Performance pack
Weis, how you doing today?
This is Performance pack plus Sport+
Wait, is that Hyundai Hatchback?
Yes
Ok
It's like the Hatchback Hyundai Elantra, and then the N version (like the Veloster N)
I want to see someone put something completely outrageous in it
poor guy :(
You ๐
Issurance did not total it?
Actually that's quite a lot for such a new car
I have seen cars in better shape get totalled
This is a company car. Don't worry. They have two more. A journalist let his son drive and he crashed. No. Hyundai wanted it fix.
Got it
That explains the mileage too
They also track all the cars
One of them didn't even get to 2K
And it's already been to 2 or 3 track days
๐
These are strong mfs
This one hadn't run in more than 3 months
Yet I revved it to 5K
And it was fine
I'm sure he even wanted more
๐
Yeah those Hyundai's are quite strong the last couple of years
Would love to buy a i30N is a couple of years, after they depreciated a bit
You can't replace a Porsche
I probably won't have the money to buy a normal car and an expensive sports car, so it needs to be practical ๐
Hot hatch is the perfect solution
You got me there
More then triple the amount of horsepower compared to what I'm driving at the moment so ๐
Hey I can almost get my dirvers licence and was looking at cars that I may get when I can afford one. The cars that I am looking at are the brz wrz and 370z but I don't know witch one to get what do you guys think.
something that is reliable
@thin otter well, what climate do you live in
I live in Canada
So for a daily you would want something with fwd, awd, or 4x4 drive
So the wrx then
Why not
I know that
if u were to buy it
headgaskets
Dont buy second hand
I know
Otherwise it's a good car
I know I love Subaru's
oh no
So do i lmao
we lost another one
Go away
We lost another what I like Nissan's to
vaping in the back of your mom's outback is not cool, ok
Both
So you like going fast in a straight line
Well yes
and crusing on long stretches of road
and rock climbing
and water crossing
What car do you own
Nice
my s550 is dying
No
wdym no?
If I were to choose
wrx just because it's not a nissan and will survive through the winter
Thanks I had just been struggling to figure out what to buy in the future
Is that other cars that you would recommend more that that one
I would avoid Chrysler, Nissan, older kias, and some gm cars
and some automatic hondas
Well almost every brand has a car/engine/... to avoid ๐
@stoic ledge well yes, but like... I am saying avoid all of these companies rn as a daily
Yeah I understand
Ok thanks for the advice
I'm not gonna give buying advice for someone in Northern America because the cars differ to much from here
Just don't buy a VW
๐
I do what something with rwd so that I can slide it in the winter
BMW 3er ๐
๐ฆ
Also no idea tbh, I've only driven a 318i which, if i'm not mistaken, isn't sold in your country
Quite fun to drive tho
@thin otter do you have a lot of experience on the road or on the track?
I can almost get my dirvers licence I guess not
I have no experience on a road or track but I want to learn
@stoic ledge I mean, you can have at it on the track without a driver's license
Really? You need to have a drivers license here to drive on a track
No but my dad will not take me to a track
I have seen 12year olds racing miatas at my local track
Not by themselves
but driving none theless
You even have a 17yr old f1 driver rn
no driver's license
Btw I am going to get this car after I learn to drive so that I can have some fun on the road
Well that kid is 20yr now ๐ Also he started with go-karting
But normally you are not allowed on a racing track without a licence
Ok
@stoic ledge a miata is a go kart, let's be real
Yet I can't get a Miata insured because "it's a sportscar" with "lots of power"
๐คฃ
ultra sports car
Wait I'll check if I can get a Miata insured now, now I have my licence for 2 years
Wait what I can now
My lawn tractor makes 22 hp and is a 2 cylinder with OVERHEAD VALVES. It's a freakin Lamborghini
Oh also just 1 insurer, the rest doesn't wanna take the risk
I mean it's pretty big risk insuring a Miata what with all the rainbow flags and cutoff jeans
lmao
๐
Think off all the sweaty men they would need to cover if you got in a crash
Never head of a Miata called sports car with lots of power
I can't fit in a Miata
It's called that by the insurance company
Same can't fit in an S2000 either
I won't fit either probably
R.I.P
@vital glen did you smile and say "of course sailor"
@gray fox No, I said
Why of course little garden gnome
If a Miata is a sports car with lots of power I guess my Prelude Si would have been a hyper car with immeasurable power
Yes, yes it would
For young drivers, the horse power limit is often 100 kW (or 134HP)
So yes, a Miata is a supersonic hypercar
MX5-NA is just allowed with 133 bhp
NB with 1.8 is too powerfull (146 bhp) ๐ฎ
My car has 400 ;P
My car has 83 ๐ข
My car has a little too much
Haha ;P
@fathom socket are you saying 400 from the crank or the wheel?
@vital glen It has 400 bhp.. Or well, 395 technically
I will cummins swap my h1 one day to get more than 160hp and 320lb/ft
I got a hemi
Want to see some drunk wiring?
I don't like drunk people, so no thanks
I shouldn't say much since the only things I can identify under my hood is the battery and where washer fluid goes
lol
gg
You guys usually make fun of me because I put my car in the shop when it only needed an oil change
My friends make fun of me because my engine looks like a spider's nest
but they can't beat my times
down in mexico
Oh that reminds me.
The tail light on my car has stopped working.
And since it's LED I need to replace the whole thing.
And it's expensive
What's your car? A Dodge or something
Should have gotten the cummins
Nah..
Plus Diesel is about to get banned here on private cars
They are already banned in some area's and stuff
Norway
oh
Rip
Diesel cars are like.. High treason here in Europe.
When it's really cold out, they ban them in the cities.
Also the hemi is a lot more economic to run than the diesel
A lot of the people I talk to in the uk only do the diesel
In Norway they wanted everyone to buy diesel.
They lowered the tax, said it was good.
Then 2 years later.
They say it's bad and ban it..
While taxing the hell out of it
Sue the govt
What did I start know everyone is talking about cars
They will into 2 years @fathom socket
haha yeah
The government is already talking about taxing them.
So they need to pay tax for 2 years
Doesn't norway have like special lanes for electric cars ?
Next trend solar panels only car no battery cuz battery also harm the climate
Uh, kinda.
Electric cars were allowed to travel in BUS lanes.
But since everyone got electric cars... The bus lanes are full.
So now they are banned from driving in most bus lanes.
๐
They were too many electric cars, so the bus lanes were always filled up.. Just like the rest of the queues.
Ohno not the iMiev
So they lost that perk.
They also lost a whole lot of other perks.
Such as free charging, free parking, free ferries.
Sounds expensive
And they gotta pay tax.
For example.. Let's just say, as an example.
You bought a Tesla for 70,000 USD
You get a bill from the DMV saying you need to pay 25,000 USD in tax.
Of course it's priced different here.
But that's approx the ammount
that is worse than california tax
Pretty obvious ofcourse, paying electric cars for "the rich" with tax money, raising taxes so "the poor" Can't buy electric cars because they are too expensive
I want to hear
So vehicle tax is based on weight, size, engine size.. Bla bla bla.
But also number of seats.
My Ram is a 4 door.. But it only has 2 seats.. And special license plates.
The freak
I'm not allowed to have rear seats in it.
If I want rear seats and normal license plate..
It's way too expensive
Lemme list it for you..
2014 Ram (4 doors, but only 2 seats. No rear seats allowed) - 70,800 USD (Car price +tax)
god damn
2014 Ram (4 doors, 4 seats.) - 141,600 USD (Car price +tax)
Can you mod your car?
But after 10 years.
You can put in rear seats for free
well not free
but like.. 1000 USD
that's free compared to what you payed
They have a "reasoning" behind it though.
They tax huge vehicles like a Ram.. Usually American vehicles get taxed worst.. Because of weight, and engine size.
This is to prevent families from buying these kind of vehicles.
But it's so "cheap" with only 2 seats.. So it's still great for a contractor
or whatever
But it prevents it being bought as family cars
RAM 1500:
Import tax = 10%
CO2 tax = โฌ90k
VAT = 21%
So yes, also bloody expensive here
But I got the rear seats
They're in my garage
lol
Ready to go!
And no, car mods aren't really legal here
Do they do audits or something?
In fact most of the standard things on my Ram is illegal
of your car's internals
Dunno exactly how it works.
I know they do 360 pics of all vehicles
So if you change Rims
They can tell
That's fucking jank
Example..
I had a Ford before..
I went to Ford and purchased a beefy bumper thingy.. With extra high beam lights on it.
Me and a Ford dude had to take the car to the DMV.
They had to inspect the installation and things.
Then they took new pics.
Around the car, from all angles.
Then I got a new registration paper
saying that it was "modded"
with the bumper and lights
Wow that's messed up
Usually they don't get aggro over small mods though
Like changing rims.
Unless you go..
Huge.. Small
Some things like bumper modifications are more strict.
As long as it's done right, they don't care here
It REALLY depends.
Just has to be safe
Also the type of vehicle says a lot.
And meet regulations
For example ricer vehicles...
Get German SS treatment.
But a normal car.. With a few nice mods, they don't say anything
Oh god, I can run open headers and nobody cares, until the old lady across the street complains
Good... Ban ricers
it's a hunk of metal on the front of the car
I also want those orange cab lights on the roof.. But they aren't legal either.
Police will pull you over if you make a lot of noice
not in my area they won't
My park lights are orange from the factory, those are also illegal.
But no one has noticed yet
What kind of
Why not
Because it's Europe.....
Orange is for the sides.
White in front.
Anyway.
My EU modified headlights were dumb.
So I bought US ones.
I want my car stock.
Well good point, it's Europe
Red at the rear
Park lights can't be orange in Europe. Not front facing.
BUT...
You can have combo lights.
For example Volvo and BMW has this.
Orange lights in the headlight to the sides.
This is because of "brand approving" or however you translate it
Long story short...
True but that's only next to the white lights
EU car brands get away with a lot.
US cars can't have here.
The DMV here is very "racist" towards US cars
Another fun example...
Most cars have a red reflector.. Built into the tail light.
But on my Ram they constantly nag me to put like a.. Sepperate reflector, on the bumper.
Because the one built into the light isn't "good enough"
._.
Wow
It totally pisses me off
that's some fucked up shit
Don't you also need a seperate fog light at the rear because American car don't have those ?
So they are picky over useless shit
But something important like that, they don't care
Here's how they install EU mandatory yellow turn signals on most US cars
it's horrible
My car needs to go to the (Dutch equivalent of the) DMV, but it's stock and well maintained so not expecting any issues
Wow never seen that before
Some have them just built in, others use the (kinda anoying) red indicators
On the Ram's they have a better solution.. They drill space for an orange bulb besides the reverse bulb.
So it looks stock..
But most older US cars don't have space for it.
So they just slam an orange light on the back of it somewhere....
that is painful
I'm getting new tail lights for my Ram though since one is flickering.
Gonna keep them US stock.
Red turn signals.. I want LED signals in the back, that is stock.
The little halogen bulb they put in.. Is so weak.
Almost no one can see my rear turn signal when it's bright out
Those red turn signals are so annoying tho... Cannot see how anyone ever thought that was a good Idea
Yes I know, but it's stupid
It's actually kinda "dangerous".
Because you can't have a combo of brake lights or turn signals.
I don't know what you are on about
There are studies linked below that demonstrate a tangible safety benefit of amber turn signals. You might want to check them out. Though it might be small, ...
Exactly
watch the vid XD
But red looks sexy af
So that's why US has it.
And I love it.
Rear light = red
Brake = brighter red
Indicating = bright red blinking
Why?
Haha
On the front, you don't use blinking whith lights do you? You use amber
Why not do the same at the rear
but you see
none of this matters to people that drive bmws
My brother is one of the few people that use indicators in BMW's
Probably because he bas driven other cars for years
does he also change his blinker fluid?
No he lets the garage do it for him
lol
:p
The other day I saw a ford f150 with a brush guard start pushing a jeep wrangler because the jeep would not turn right on a red
I also saw a guy in a golf doing a vlog and was not looking at the road
his eyes were on his hpone
he was flailing his hand around
I hate people who use there phones while driving
Just... Don't
Or run in to a tree
And then I would feel sorry for the tree
lol
@heady vine when you say that, you not only trigger me, but you also show how stupid you are.
about?
@runic beacon
i only speak the truth lmao
if its about the porshe
They arnt that good
Id rather spend my money else where
you realize that Ferdinand Porsche designed the Beetle, and that Porsche already existed before the Beetle right ?
