If you did go passed redline you may have starved the engine of oil for a moment or had some valve float, but as long as you didn't stay there, eh, I wouldn't worry about it.

I downshifted a VW diesel from 4th to 1st on accident and it revved to about 7k. It normally revs to 5000 max. It's fine. Most engines are capable of revving higher than their redline so you should be fine.

@carmine summit I was actually planning on buying a WRX wagon or this one Integra GSR Type R conversion with the jdm lights but my dad said the Integras are easy to break into ( he has had a couple civic and integras plus a 450whp Evo 8 at one point) and my uncle thinks im not ready for a wrx which i can understand. Got a big question. I have a big subwoofer, it seems to draw too much power than supplied by my alternator. My lights dim constantly. Could I be damaging either my alternator or battery this way? Because I had my battery tested and it came out bad.

I briefly considered a Fiat 500 Abarth while shooping, but the price was going to be damn close to GTI money by the time all was done, and (as mentioned) they have a poor reputation for reliability.
If you're on a budget in that segment, consider a Honda Fit? Really good space in it, peppy enough, comes with a stick.

If you need something cheap on insurance, find a MK4 or 5 Golf. They're pretty fun cars and insurance on a MK4 shouldn't be too terribly much. If you get a TDI you'll get great mileage too, not to mention lots of modification potential.

For the record, I'm not a fan boy (own a VW). I do have a friend with a Fit, and it seems like really good value to me.

Only you can answer that. There's not much price flexibility with new Asian cars. European ones have a little room. American ones will deal, but are often less desirable.
I'm Canadian, so I can't speak to the effect on your insurance as a new driver.

European typically adds "fit and finish" that exceeds the Asian makes (at equivalent prices), but your priorities are your own.
Mazda and Honda were the runners up when I bought mine, and I'm sure either wood have been good in the end.
