The tough thing with the Interceptors is the previous owners did not treat them very well. They got maintenance, but the engines were run hard and the mileage doesn't reflect the hours a day that they sat idling. Those cars are never turned off unless the cops are at lunch or off duty.

Thing i've realised is, you WILL damage your car at some point while learning to drive, or after you get your license or P's. Theory test (basically a quiz with mandatory 95% score to pass) --> L plater --> 50 hours of driving --> Hazard Perception test (sit in front of a screen and click to respond when the computer instructs you to) --> 50 hours of driving again (minimum 5 hours with a professional instructor) --> Driving test --> Red P plates (4 demerits available, midnight driving curfew) --> 6 months --> Greed P plates (6 demerits available, no curfew) --> 1.5 years --> Full License!

I'm still a red p plater. I have a month to go till my greens, but I got my first flash of a speed camera yesterday (93 in an 80 zone) so I might be down 2 demerits already.

Anyone know why a transponder key might not be detected by one door but works fine on the other and in the ignition of a car? Turning the key twice in the same direction to unlock/lock all doors does not work in the door in question, but does work in the other door.
It'll physically unlock the door in question, but the alarm goes off if said door is opened. If unlocked using the other door, the alarm doesn't go off.

I'm thinking it's either a wiring issue or maybe the lock cylinder is going bad, but I'm not sure. (Haven't ripped the door apart yet)

@short slate if it's a close range transponder, it's possible there's a problem with the antenna on/near that door, to the point it's not picking up the proximity of the key. If you have a 2nd key, try that first and see if the problem persists. then you at least know it's not a key issue but the car, then go hunt down the antenna

I'm not from the usa/canada/uk, but i'd say your best bet is a car that strides a balance between being common and in demand, and niche and inexpensive when new. Because they know they aren't going to sell like crazy, the prices won't be too high, but you will be able to curb some of the risks of buying a cheaper salvage car that might not have what you want or be in worse shape. I don't know what fits that description for your country, but that's just my 5 minute hypothesis.

As long as your wires aren't hanging down, just run 'em where they fit and keep it tidy. Leave enough so that things are easily serviceable should you ever need to do something. For radios, definitely get the install kit so you don't have to cut your wiring harness.

If you have a portable soldering iron, solder and shrink your connections. But crimping will work, it's just always uglier in my opinion...

Long story, I was driving down the highway, and I passed a guy. But the person who was in front of me started repeatedly brake checking me. So I honked and moved over real quick. And he was waving a gun in my face through his window. I floored it, heard a bang, and saw him take a turnaround real quick.

My car is by no means fast. It's a 13 Avenger with a 2.4l inline 4. But, it did save my life quite possibly.
