At the end of the day all planes have to "converge" anyway before a certain point (latest would be right as they join the localizer right?) so having the stars designed like that means that the planes will automatically all "converge" automatically, you know the speeds and distances so you can tell even when they're really far from the airport when and in what order/position they'll be once they actually all converge to that point

Because Moscow itself is a no-fly zone (with a few exceptions in place for Vnukovo arrivals), so arrivals coming from the south essentially deviate a bit from the course to fly around the city (which is essentially a big circle), and that means any arrivals from the south actually join up with arrivals either from the west or the east even earlier

pretty much when i passed 100kts my nose lifted off the ground, and when i got to my VR speed i rocketed up

yeah, the engine numbers are absolutely borked, i could set my climb speed to anything, and it would be able to hit it and continue climbing at 4,000fpm

im literally climbing at 4,100fpm at 315kts

All in pitch black conditions too, not even any light pollution to help me out

Oh, and no ILS of course

Landing with just 0 ground reference at all, flying just by the runway lights and nothing else is really quite disorienting

Next stop is even better - Kwajalein Atoll, Bucholz Army Airfield

Doing this same thing in a 727 would be so much fun

Honestly landing in such darkness is really different

Cause even at night when you fly normally, you have tons and tons of light pollution so you mostly see the terrain quite well

In these you can see, it's just a bunch of runway lights in the middle of the abyss

I remember that what I did was just look for the ICAOs of all the Yak-40 destinations and put all of them in a flight plan in Navigraph to get an idea

some were missing completely from Navigraph and the sim, others were missing from the sim, others were in the sim but not Navigraph

Technically it's really easy to get rid of trees

All you need to do is add 1 exclusion zone on top of the airport that would just exclude all the trees

But the annoying part is, it can only be done with a "north-facing rectangle", so to make it look nice you'd have to add some trees back in
