#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages Β· Page 48 of 1
Just in the UK we have Jet2, Ryanair, EasyJet, TUI, BA, Air Lingus, Loganair
You could do London-Edinburgh with like 5 different airlines
Yeah, the US used to have tons, now barely any competition
3 major airlines, 3 low cost carriers and 1 Alaska which doesn't really fall into either category
I can cuz I've only flown on 2 π
Funny how one is defunct
Well for me, none of those I'm certain in are
But I very well could've found myself on the likes of Atlant-Soyuz or Transaero in the early 2010s
How about you do the classic of putting a freighter livery on a cargo plane
What engines are on the MSFS A310 again?
CF6s
I mean
I'd say just do it anyway
Cause not like we have a freighter variant to begin with
So it wouldn't be 100% accurate in any case
βοΈ Get an exclusive first look at the highly-detailed X-Crafts ERJ 145 for X-Plane 12! In this preview, we explore the incredible systems depth, flight model, and stunning visuals of this new regional jet. Is this the most accurate ERJ 145 in flight simulation? Join me as we find out!
The Embraer ERJ 145 is a popular 50-seat regional jet us...
i forgot they were making ERJs
All thanks to the power of
consolidation
From what I've heard Canada is worse
Basically it's just Air Canada and WestJet
They've created a sort of mafia, one has a de facto Monopoly on the East side of the continent, the other on the west side, and whenever competition shows up they just artificially lower prices to the point of making a loss on these flights to compete directly to maintain the status quo
Yeah
In Canada it's ACA and WestJet, plus 3 others - Nolinor, AirNorth, Canadian North if you're going... you guessed it, north
And even then, Nolinor is a charter
But those 3 are only an option for the northern parts anyway. I'm pretty sure they have very limited service in the southern provinces, mostly just using big airports as transfer hubs
sunwing too, though they only really exist if you're flying between mexico and toronto
oh, theyre owned by westjet now and only operate seasonally
Rip to the other one
Yeah. Gonna redo it at some point
Next I'm gonna need to deliver a plane to Nordwind though, a 777 or an A330, because me and a friend planned a fun group flight
Now I'm gonna assume I can't join
I mean, you can, why not
If you're ready for an 8-hour overnight flight starting on the 28th February
@reef isle are you in?
hell yeah, i finally did the flight that ruined my confidence in the 737 classic, KMDW-KPHL
was a little high on the approach, and a little long on the landing, but i landed and slowed before the last quarter of the runway, so it's a good landing
No sorry π
not a big fan of overnight flights
Fair, no problem
Myself I'd prefer doing it during the day too, it's not long enough to just sleep in the middle, but I'm doing it with a friend who only flies real schedules
Yeah I was thinking of doing a flight from Rome to Kai Tak and sleep through part of it, but nah
Not really my thing π
its surprisingly not too difficult to port liveries from levelup v1 to v2
took me about 30 minutes to get everything working
doing the custom cabin should be very easy too, but that has to be done manually unfortunately
It's just the wings and winglets isn't it?
wing textures, tail textures, and the fuselage windows
i wish i could release it, but it's a Jviation livery, so i cant
Oh interesting
Yeah I forgot about the tail, now that you mention it, I did it too, but didn't have to worry about windows thankfully
i noticed this and was mildly infuriated, so i decided to include it in the reskin
the front part of the raddome is shiny, but the top of the nose is matte
probably because they can't use whatever type of matte paint on the rad dome in fears that itll interfere with the operation of the radar
How do you get a A in KLM?
No title - BOAC inaugurates new Pacific service flight from London to Sydney.
Technicolor.
Various shots of a BOAC jet in the air, interior shots of cockpit. M/S as steward and stewardess bring trolley of food. M/S steward carving chicken. M/S stewardess pouring drink. M/S of clouds below the plane. C/U plate of caviar and smoked salmon b...
omw to g'ole kai tak
Kai Tak is peak
I really wanna fly to Kai tak on vatsim but I don't know what asian airlines had CF6's on the A310
Thai had CF6s on the A310s
Their 310s didn't really go to Kai Tak tbf, but A300-600s did
Bangkok to Hong Kong is a relatively short flight so you can do it without having to find a fully free day. I think it's around 2:30 of flight time
Just don't mess up by starting in Suvarnabhumi because it only opened 8 years after Kai Tak's closure
XP12 732 not dead after all
@reef isle @rustic charm https://fselite.net/content/flightsim-dispatch-updated-to-v1-5-0/ new schedules incl historical ones
Oh yeah it got updated a bit ago
im late af
Haven't updated myself yet though lol
Nice
Yeah me neither, I'm on 1.3.something
it's mostly an EOL update, they changed their website so the old versions no longer check for updates on the right url
1.5 doesn't have automatic update checks at all
it has been way too long since i last flew the MD-11F
i forgot how it is very much not a zippy small airliner
Decided to fly the Zibo, not sure what I did wrong yet,, but wouldn't properly intercept the localizer, had to fly the ILS raw data anyway like I would with the stupid -200
even flying raw data it's so much easier with the actual course on the ND though
deffo right on edge of legality too, I very very nearly missed the 1000' stabilized gate
had almost 1 dot deviation on both LOC and GS and almost -1000fpm lol
it's such a different mindset and mentality flying the 737NG and something like the -200 or even the classic, I always struggle, same with the A320.
You can very definitely tell those jets have been designed to be used with a much higher automation level than I've gotten used to
crazy to think that probably I would have been under less stress if I was flying the 737-200...
that's the magic of familiarity
yeah definitely
need to fly the NG and MAX more π
Enjoy these dark screenshots that Discord will inevitably turn into a completely black image
hm, the rotate md-11 does not enjoy 2x speed when going over waypoints, it likes to overshoot and then correct and wobble a bit from the flight path
Over Georgia now
Doing good on fuel, .3 tons above estimated, even though I stayed at FL330 for longer than optimal
If I stay close to estimated like that, I'll be in Bangkok with just over 4 tons remaining
Nice
Back into the night we go
And bad news
Probably going to have to cut the trip short, as I'm now below estimated fuel
whip whitaker moment
Nah, unfortunately not, I was flying from the sky into the ground
Just started descending
I do quite like Bangkok
And I'm on the ground
A throwback to the original attempt
Tbh, of course it's not perfect, but that was fun and unexpected, and genuinely made me work to try to get it onto the ground
Why does this actually remind me of the mayday air disaster china airlines 006 video
interesting issue on rikoooo lol
i really hate how navigraph doesnt show VOR radials between VORs
skyvector apparently does, but i don't like using skyvector, navigraph is just so much easier too
ah, little navmap is much better for VOR flying, it gives you the actual VOR course, adjusted to the VORs declination, and it gives you both start and end course numbers for the VORs
it's pretty annoying to have little navmap AND navigraph charts open, but i guess i'll manage
My airac cycle is almost 2 years old
My airac cycle is whatever is supplied with the plane
So it differs from one plane to another lol
what about on navigraph
Idk, whichever one is free
Never had the sub
Which makes it fun, because some planes have drastically different data
its whichever was the one when you made the account
i dont know what it is, but lufthansa is cursed for me
every time i do a lufthansa flight, it ends horribly
gonna reinstall the Zibo, F/D are as useless as it is in the -200
friend of mine told me that a bad install can mess up the plane, it's not a binary "it works/does not work" thing
the levelup?
No, Zibo
Not going to use the LevelUp for the -800 if the Zibo has a better flight model
it no longer can unfortunately π
Fair, so it actually can't
Can'tJet
also I need to stop using the NGs for relatively new airlines that I can fly with the Classic hahaha
there are a few things I could fly that actually require the NGs and I'm not doing any of them lol
maybe will fly with the SWA special liveries soon
Reject modernity, embrace JT8s
Still have my hopes super high that FSS decide to move for the 737-200
After all I think they said their 727 plan is basically complete now. So what would make sense to do next?
A320
/j
but yeah, would be nice, although I'm not a big fan of their 727, I don't like how their cockpit looks
True, tbh an A320 would be so nice, it feels wrong not having one
Fair. Don't think there's anything that generally upsets me with it, but it's entirely possible I just haven't noticed some stuff
No, no, I have a close friend of mine that loves it
I don't think it's bad, it's just that I prefer the Xplane one lol
That's fair
I mean
727s had like a hundred million billion cockpit configurations
I swear every single one of them was different in some way
beyondatc is broken
What am I looking at
If there's one thing I can say that's sort of objective (-ish) is that the Xplane configuration, especially the Artificial Horizon matches better most of the photos I've seen, but yeah I was about to write, during the years they all got slightly different stuff fitted to them
So not liking one, liking the other is entirely fair
FSS 727 artificial horizon
What's wrong with it
You mean the XP one matches better?
Looks fine to me
I don't, know, it looks off, I think the shape of the "bird" is weird
Also I think quite many, if not most, 727s had single cue flight directors iirc
FSS made two-bar ones
I know they got a lot of requests to add single cue
But they say it'd take too much work
Bro it's a 4 sided polygon what do you mean π
I just take what I have, but I can definitely see why some people would prefer single cue (not even from the accuracy standpoint, it's just nice)
so the one in Xplane has this, which based on the photos I've seen looks to be more common
Most of the double cue I've seen had this "w" variation
Ok no
I think single cues overall are just more common on older planes?
yeah they are
Although it's fun cause I don't think I have any planes in MSFS that have specifically single cues
Obviously you can choose them in NGs
But like
The 720 in xplane has a single cue
The 727 is the oldest jet I have, they made dual cue
My only plane older than it is the DC-6
And the DC-6 just doesn't have a flight director
I think the JF F28 has single cue too
Tbh it most likely has both, knowing JF's detail level
I think I just haven't flown it with single cue
The 742?
yeah this is another common one, the same that is in your picture with the two wings and dot in the middle
I'm trying so hard to look for pictures with that rounded artificial horizon and I can't find any
But well, I only did 1 flight in the F28 as of yet, so it's all ahead still
Yeah, I think the 2 wings and a dot became basically the standard for digital displays?
yeah it sort of did yeah
Yeah I'm sure someone at some point used that one that FSS modelled
I just can't find it
There's 100% chance that at least 1 727 at some point had it
But again
Every 727 cockpit is fricking different
I don't think even airlines knew what kind of configuration they had on 727s
No?
yeah, and you know, normally I wouldn't be that pedant about something like that, but considering that you're going to be looking at that thing a lot and there's a better option, I'm going to hold off
No, that's two wings and dot
this
Let me just load up the sim
7 minutes later
(Time to wait half an hour because MSFS)
google this is NOT a 727
Dc-3 probably
Doesn't really look like a DC-3 to me, but idk
I think this is the most common double cue one, that was used by loads of different planes
Tbh I don't really know the DC-3
nah not dc3
They should have just done that one
Also btw, about old planes. Anyone tried the MSFS L-1049?
The Electra?
Yes
yeah
bruh
Idk if it's 1049, I think it is
Very good one from what I remember
Could be a 749, I don't really know how to differentiate them
It's by Redwing, the guys who made a lot of 1935 airport sceneries
Just thinking of the Connie cause essentially the airline world in the 40s got divided in half. Half went with the DC-6 (also -4/-7) and half went with different variations of the Connie
the b377 is sexy as well
Yeah, exactly
I mean
There were just 56 of them
And 50 of those 56 Boeing built without having a single order
Oh thank you MSFS, crashing, of course...
Honestly, I know I'm going to be likely tortured and killed for this, but I don't really like it
I much prefer the DC-6 and the Connie
Although out of the 3, my favourite is by far the DC-6
Lmao
Nah it's fine
How do I say it
It looks, special
Like bro
That nose is not very normal
the 314 was literally a hotel that was a plane and also a boat, that is the coolest shit ever, and you choose the 377???
Well, I know for a fact that this plane changed mr. Tupolev's worldview
Cause Tupolev used to say that only a beautiful plane that's built by good people will be able to fly
But then he travelled to the US
And saw the 377
Mr tupolev literally copied the B-29 π
Well during wartime, yes
Because we needed a bomber
So he copied the B-29 and made it better
Well tbf, post-war really
If better means 20mm's firing Ukraine's finest potatoes sure
Firstly, potatoes are from Belarus.
Well obviously they don't originate in Belarus
I don't even know what people ate on this continent before the discovery of the Americas
Potatoes are from South America, tomatoes are from South America
Soviet potatoes
Bread
explains me
Berries
I eat way too much π
Can we swap
Tbh I usually just eat something once a day
And that one meal doesn't necessarily have to be huge either
Tbh it's not as simple as just eating less
There are many different factors
The kind of food is very important, the movement... like, I eat once per day, but I don't move too much either, so I'm not at best weight
Where am I exercising at -2 Celsius
Indoors
I flew into Moscow in -2, wearing light trousers and a t-shirt. My winter clothes were in checked in luggage and they deboarded us on a remote stand
Ok not that
So I was there, outside, while it's -2 and snowing, waiting for a bus looking like a madman
That was really nice though
I like cold
Especially if I'm moving
If I have to just sit, it's not nice. But when I'm walking or something, it's really nice
A bandana? We have an outlaw here?
Bandana?
Rdr2
Also come on, I'm from Moscow. Moscow barely gets any cold nowadays
It only very rarely goes past -15
For me 10-15 is comfortable t-shirt weather lol
Yeah that is kinda suspicious to be fair
I guess the assumption is that if you were really up to no good, you wouldn't comply. Would instead start running or something
What happened to the planes tho
Well this chat really should be renamed into "Flight sims, general plane talk, also general talk that starts with planes but then covers all the other possible topics"
Hahahah
I never noticed
Everyone likes planes
That's not a plane π
Also in #1165354988004987000 there's only Doc
And in #1165363202931052759 there's nobody
Best don't
What's the callsign of kalitta charters?
Y'all have iphones?
I have Motorola bro π
Engine oil?
Can I drink it
Jet fuel A yummy
Everything is drinkable. The only difference is how many times you can drink it.
"You can skydive without a parachute but you can only do it once" ah response
going around because batc didnt think it was necessary to switch me from app to twr
broken ass software bruh
new updates made it super broken for me
i fly batc because it has coverage worldwide without having to wait for people to come online
sayintentions does look good but subs kinda sucky
one go around later though
Eastern Express 8310 has a ICAO code of BBQ and the tower controller in Philadelphia accidentally calls them BARBECUE π€£
Via @theATCapp
I love it when the controllers make jokes like this
alps
a very pretty sunset
Yes
I really hope you took it to DMs instead of just asking if NoOne is awake and then not saying why
No, it was just a checkup
I have DMs with like
2 people
OnAir Company is quite fun. My little fleet is slowly growing:
What's that?
It add's an economic / company layer to MSFS.
subscription service
Interesting
i am fairly certain that there are one-time pay apps that do the same thing
Well, subs... I don't like subs, but sometimes there are no options
true, but in this case, there are other options
It's $3.50 a month, so doesn't break the bank. And it has interaction with other players, which nothing else has
Well $3.50 is not too bad at least
I compared it to APL and the Fly The Line, and the feature set is a lot better. And I wanted the economic side with AI pilots etc which nothing else really offers
So it can kinda act as an airline management simulator as well?
Tbh I really wish there was a thorough, well-thought-through, in-depth airline management game
Cause everything we currently have comes down to "Buy expensive long-haul planes to fly far, buy small planes for short flights"
It's mostly an airline management simulator
Unless you use the non ai server, in which case you have to fly everything
Interesting
And unlike Airlinesim etc, it's actually possible to make profit
Well not with the kind of planes I fly it isn't
You like the 727 and MD82, don't you?
Imagine trying to make a profit with a fleet of 727s
727s are quite popular funnily enough
I've heard of one guy who tried in the 90s. He failed. He's also not really well-liked
getting busted on the apron due to both pilots being absolutely zoinked on cocaine
Players have flown a fair few flights with them, so they can't be terrible
Aerosucre thats the one, forgot what cargo airline it was that had absolute top tier pilots
"Both" implies that a flight engineer, who should be there, is missing
it could also imply that the flight engineer chose to remain sober
Why is the price for a -100F significantly lower than the -100
Seems weird
They should be close
eh tbh, having a look at the sub prices, they're not too bad
not something im massively interested in myself, but it seems cool enough
im fine with just doing VA shit, atleast that gives me some purpose whenever I play
Fair
Tbh I kinda want to try to make a VA
Except it'd be in a different way cause I'm not a fan of the super strict approach
tbh the only VA I fly with (FlyUK) is pretty relaxed when it comes to all of it
as long as you fly A-B in the aircraft you book, its all good
Filing thousands of reports, having to be constantly active, having a super strict hierarchy that limits the flights you can do as well
Don't like that
Well that seems quite nice
I believe the price is demand driven
obviously they have some sort of rank based system where you get to fly all sorts, but I quite like it, gives one some time to fly aircraft they otherwise would never fly
That's fair
I just don't really like stuff like "Until you get x amount of hours, you can't fly long haul" or whatever
I've been in BAV & believe or not Walker Air & both of them had that fucking absurd ''landings must not exceed x fpm'' like who in the fucking world gives a shit
My landings would knock out peoples fillings
Apparently BA virtual has something like that. A friend of mine used to fly with them. He said they limit newcommers to short-haul narrowbodies. A320s and stuff. I think he said that was one of the reasons he quit
Cause well, that friend has an average flight time of close to 6 hours
He just doesn't do much short haul
like people constantly seem to chase the perfect butter landing on every flight & they literally swear at the sim if they don't get a smooth af landing
I just swear at the sim because 9 times out of 10 it just seems like hot garbage fresh off the press
Yeah, that's annoying... I've seen in the rules of Pobeda Virtual that you have to file a report each time a landing exceeds some fpm...
Like, it's not even an accurate measurement
its why I don't bother with half the VAs & just stick to my current one
Most of them seemingly have some crazy unwarranted rules
as long as you fly atleast once every month & don't snap the aircraft like a twig then you're all good
Just ignore the fuel left on this one
Like, I do want to start a VA that would be more relaxed. "It's preferable that the aircraft remains airworthy after a flight" but nothing more
thats literally how the FlyUK rulebook is
as long as it looks like you're at the destination airport & the aircraft is not in 1000 pieces then you're good
- no fucking nonsense activity requirements, so I can just fly something whenever I can fit it into my schedule
I once landed a loaded MD-11, passenger as well, with under 20 minutes of fuel left
And that's under 20 minutes of cruise
If I had a goaround, would've been even less
got imagine one of those ETS2 VTCs with like true to life accurate tacho rules
''driver card must be present on your person at all times''
As an extra careful pilot, I forgot to fuel before takeoff
Oh yeah, I don't get that. Apparently some VAs literally require you to never be offline for more than 2 weeks... I've heard some even ask for things like medical notes if you report sick or whatever
Oh, we've all been there, it's fine
Debating getting the CRJ or E Jets as my next purchase
I like smaller planes π
Well, having 1 big one doesn't hurt though
I recently bought the MD-11 (again) & still haven't flown it π
You can have a fleet of cessnas plus an MD-11
Ngl, wish starting a VA was easier. I don't even have any idea about what to do with liveries
Oh I have a great idea. Buy a DC-6 as a replacement
It's relatively small
And very fun to fly
The PMDG one?
As long as of course you aren't me, trying to land it at 130kts...
Yeah
Does that work in MSFS24?
Uhh
Actually I don't think so
It might be useable, but unofficially
Ngl, I kinda wish PMDG also added a proper old-timey configuration, but we'll never have that probably
Like, you can choose it to be VOR-only and stuff, but you'll still have digital radio and DME displays, as well as the ipad
yea I believe a majority of people got the DC-6 to work, but obviously if shit breaks then its on you
i got so massively burnt out on flight sims the other day that i felt physically nauseous when i booted into XP12
And I'm back in an airport today
DWC currently is just something else
Firstly, I feel like I'm in Moscow
5 different airlines currently checking in or boarding: Aeroflot, Pobeda, Ural, Utair and S7
Secondly, the check in for my flight is still not open officially, so most of the people are just waiting, meanwhile they're actually checking people in anyway if you just approach the counters (which display "Closed" on the screens lol)
There's a 777-300ERSF sitting here
Would be kinda cool to have it in MSFS, but of course PMDG would never
they need another private jet
Well wouldn't make much sense to use a freighter as a private jet tbh
But nah, it's Kalitta, probably came from Anchorage or something
Actually no Anchorage to here non stop while avoiding Russian airspace would be too far
Probably from Europe or east coast US
confirm this plane just took off
Probably, Utair did board a bit ago
The airport has no view of the runway at all, so idk
Yeah, there should be a cargo 737-400 landing about now
But yeah, won't really see it, the visibility's also not the best right now
WHY THE HELL DOES PANAMA CITY HAVE 3 AIRPORTS
why you gonna fly to russia
or why are you there
Probably one main airport, one old airport used by low cost carrier(s) and one GA field
is wingo a low cost
Most likely
bruh
you're right
holy shit there's nothing but 737's at the main one
and there's more coming in
what is this
the 737 nation is invading panama
Well Panama's national airline flies nothing but 737s iirc
quick update on the approach
I can't see a damn thing
chat am I cooked
the runway doesn't have ils
wrong runway
I blame simbrief
Would be fun to do a VOR approach in those conditions
And we're pushing, in 4 hours I'll be in Sochi
So I flew in New York today
The scariest part was the taxi of all things
I was sliding so much
Took a turn to get out of the south cargo ramp
Holy shit I slid so much
the army of trucks are out in toronto lol
my home airport is reporting that we're getting 1" of snow an hour too
it might be a good idea to buy some flight sim stuff that happens to be euro sooner than later
activesky for P3D is cheapest on aerosoft, and i get my FSS 727 loyalty discount from aerosoft too, and their prices are euros but converted
here's a fun fact, since dipshit took office, the FSS 727 has gotten $5 more expensive through just conversion costs alone, not accounting for inflation
january last year, the conversion rate was 1 USD to 0.97 EUR, and the cost was $34.61 for the FSS 727. today, it costs $39.96
$5 is alot
and that's just on 30 euro
I always thought that the literally only good thing that resulted from the (no longer) orange man taking office was that a lot of online things got a bit cheaper to me π
i am at the point where, if i want something, and i'm sure that i want it, i'm going to buy it, because the longer i wait it is only going to get more expensive through inflation and exchange rates
one tweet and the US dollar is worth nothing
10 mins fuel left rip
Just don't mess up, no need for spare fuel π
i really want to get into flying bizjets eventually
ive flown GA, i've flown airliners, but not the mid-size bizjets
id love to fly a three engine one though, like a dassault falcon
though again, i struggle with the same thing as GA, without a schedule to fly or anything, i'm not creative enough to come up with routes to fly
me too
Pick a country or a state and do a tour
Join a VA
tried fseconomy?
Pick a carrier and do their flights
Thats the thing with flightsim, its as big as you want it to be
Learn to fly helis
everything but FSE
use onair or neofly (which is free) over FSE
no offense but it's so goddamn old
That's what I like with OnAir Company, it generates jobs, so you can pick one that works
Believe neofly is msfs only? onair is pay, I enjoy FSE, but dont bother if you are only interested in aitliners
id love to, but it seems so impossible without the proper hardware
it requires a massive amount of coordination
Need stick and rudder as minimum
and a hardware throttle
trying to fly a heli with a button throttle is not possible
Kinda aye
Airbus joystick is probably sufficient
I have no issues with Helis using the stick's twist grip
hows the super 27 from FSS?
i'm about sold on the PAX 727, i really want to fly PSA and eastern and not just the half-assed freighter liveries
the super 27 sounds fun though, especially if the modern avionics are good

cool, you can accidentally hit an earlier checklist, and it completely resets the aircraft state
so now i'm ready to taxi with no engines, no APU, no power
my ratio of flights generated to ratio of flights actually flown is probably like 50:1
Still considering getting activesky for P3D, i just need to bite the bullet and do it already
I wouldn't bother with p3d tbh
Noooo π
Still FedEx and WGA left, but this marks the active MD-11 fleet essentially cut in half
Unless of course they get sold off, but considering that all of them will require heavy maintenance as most likely the defects that caused the crash are present in all UPS MDs, the chances of that are close to 0
Tarom please I'm begging you
Aeroflot Cargo my dear, this is a perfect opportunity to get cheap planes, and we all know that you won't pay close attention to maintenance anyway
On this day 82 years ago, January 27th, 1944, a brutal 872-day Leningrad blockade was lifted by Soviet forces. Today we officially release the Odessa and Leningrad: Siege and Liberation project, the biggest IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles module since Battle of Normandy!
It focuses on important battles from the beginning and end of the war, namel...
If Iran's getting "new" planes, then so can Aeroflot tbh
Cause 777-200ERs definitely aren't reaching Iran in any official way
they were also writeoffs, which kind of entails that they'll be scrapped
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
half as interesting viewer
Say what
Mahan Air recently had a 777-200ER magically appear in their fleet
I've even seen that one in Bangkok

Lmao
So there obviously are ways to get planes even when you're sanctioned
I mean, Belarus also smuggled a rather new A330 into their fleet as well
Tbh I've not seen that
I assume they're stolen
Nah
just 8 million shell companies
Probably bought by someone officially, then transferred ownership 1000 times to make the plane's history hard to track, and eventually ended up with Belavia
Lufthansa wanna strike next week
Not good
Im gonna off myself if my flights get cancelled
A couple of weeks ago the NTSB issued an update on the UPS MD11 crash and I wanted to use the graphs of flight data in a visualization combined with the ADS-B data and surveilance videos. This is what I ended up with, one hard part about this is the flight is so close to the ground the viewpoint needs to account for the pitch of the aircraft raising and lowering the cockpit.
that is an insane simulation of the cockpit view
Engine 1 is all over the place
that's because it snapped off and rotated over the wing
And engine 2?
engine 2 flamed out because of the massive amount of schrapnel, oil, fuel, smoke, fire, etc that it ingested from the first engine
engine 3 was operational, but that's not nearly enough to keep a fully loaded MD-11 climbing
i think there were some reports that engine 3 had issues too, but i'm not 100% certain, i think there was some weird fuel system issues that caused enough of a disruption to cause it to struggle
its the only sim that has a DC-10, and a 717, and a decent 747-400, and the E2/C2 :(
the default airports are god awful though, that's the only thing that has kept me from using P3D the most
though live weather would sure be nice, as much as I like flying in clear conditions without having to worry about weather, i also like planning for different types of weather and such
i'm also not a big fan of buying an online only product, especially something as niche as live weather for a flight sim that is currently in 3rd place, you've seen what happened to P3DWX and FSXWX
I'd just stick to 1 sim and run with it myself, it's so expensive getting into p3d
i'm already into P3D, thanks to coming from FSX
the only real thing im missing is live weather
what the fuck?
i tried flying out of newark with the levelup 737 and i was full elevator back and the aircraft would not rotate
the aircraft didn't get off of the ground until around 205kts, and at that point i was overspeeding the flaps
(ignore flaps setting, rotation speeds are not set up either, and camera positioning is to show yoke movements)
icing maybe? to be honest i wasn't thinking about it on the taxi out or takeoff
Thomas cook?
heck yeah
and:
"hearing moral and rhetoric on the line I havenβt heard since the brutal contract negotiations. Itβs a disaster worse than Iβve ever seen. Crews lost for days, stuck in airports without hotels for 12+ hours. I know FAs that are stuck in cities, scheduled to work other trips,
The entire thread is worth reading, but that one specifically is insane
American is Fucked with a capital F
So the NTSB majorly blamed the FAA for the DCA disaster a year ago

Yeah the FAA overall hasn't been great at implementing NTSB recommendations for decades
But yeah they DCA crash was particularly outrageous
:(
its always funny seeing videos of people comparing complex UI design to a 737 cockpit
i dont have the video on hand
NOOOOOOOOOOO π
I need to save some flight data
I totally didn't sleep this afternoon just so I could take part to an american VATSIM event
can't believe that for a while this was my normal sleep routine π₯²
You have a sleep routine?
For me sleep just happens. Sometimes. At random times. Occasionally just doesn't.
Tbh it really depends on what you learned first. For me the 737 NG is "default", I tried it first, any other plane gets compared to it
So I wouldn't quite say 737 cockpits are complicated
Also what's the airport in the last screenshot? Looks neat
Thanks!
With a checklist and a little practice most of them are easy. One of the βhardestβ aircraft is the dash 8, that can be a bugger to land till you get the hang of it.
What in the actual fuck does he mean by decertifying Canadian aircraft
Because that could mean several airlines would have to ground massive portions of their fleet if CRJs are effected
Airbus has manufacturing facilities in Canada too, are they going to decertify airbus aircraft???
And thatβs just airliners, not counting the thousands of bizjets that will be grounded too
okay, XP12s icing system has to be completely broken too
last time i didn't de-ice and it took until 205kts to rotate and gain altitude
this time around i did de-ice, but it still took until 175kts to rotate, and same issues as before, i was basically full nose up pitch to climb
Probably that they won't get a US reg?
It sounds like theyβre going to revoke the airworthiness certificate of some Canadian aircraft types, so they wouldnβt even be allowed to enter the airspace
that's more stupid than I thought lol
But yeah sure
Certified orange man moment
Doubt CRJs and A220 would be affected tbh
Probably something aimed at Bombardier Business Jets
You overestimate the intelligence of politicians
They would NEVER do something that harms the ultra-rich like that
Yeah I thought that
Don't know
I'm not intelligent enough to read through the 5d chess of the current US admin
The CRJ is owned by Mitsubishi now anyway
"All aircraft made in Canada" includes a fair amount of US military aircraft too, plenty are based on the Dash 8
As well as the CL-415 firefighting aircraft
Mr orange doesn't even know the difference between a 747-8 and 747-400 let's be real
He probably thinks that if he grounds all the CRJs or Dash 8s they will suddenly get replaced with Boeing planes. Meanwhile what will actually happen is that half of US regional flights will have to be cancelled
They don't even have anything to replace the dash 8 properly besides ATR's, which are obviously not american
Honestly a solid replacement
Me when lone star approach
E275's can't really replace them because they arent classed the same as 175's
i dont think there is going to be a E270 either
Oh yeah, and I think E2s can't even fly regional in the US
From my extremely limited understanding, because it was certified back when it was built by bombardier in Canada, it would be on the chopping block
Who knows anymore, with this administration nothing makes sense
yeah no
You think any common sense will stop him?
a REAL chad mans' aircraft
When you need to make sure all the navaids work there's no better choice
The backwards propeller is really the goofiest shit ever
Plus the thing on the nose too
one used to regularly fly into the airport near me
also was a default aircraft in X-Plane 9
I just recently learned about Kalitta air and I absolutely love them
It was founded by a drag racer, who flew car parts in his own little GA aircraft, who was also blind in one eye
And then it evolved into flying fucking 747s
how have you only recently heard of them
They also intentionally flew a 747 with 3 engines one time
I only got into aviation like 2 years ago, and I never really cared for 747s until I got the Felis like last year
"kalitta" sounds like a southeast asian airline too, and it doesnt help that the wikipedia image is it flying out of hong kong, so i just never paid too much attention to it
just not a fan of flying in southeast asia tbh
why did you delete the sequel
actually wanted to fly a dhl plane with that callsign
but as always the atc goes offline right when I spawn in
now this is fun to see
i'm really waiting for someone to make the kalitta air livery for the felis 742F before i buy it tbh
speaking of, i got my cargolux livery dusted off, it needs more work to look proper in XP12
Santos Dumont is fun
its funny, another thing that really makes me struggle with flight sims is that the flight path needs to be perfect, especially when tools like volanta and simtookkitpro make it so visible
IRL, it doesn't matter if you make some minor mistakes with your flight path, like shallowing out a climb after takeoff to gain speed, or wind drifting you off course as long as you're on the right heading
though this bugs the shit out of me, the way the rotate MD-80 climbs in VNAV is annoying
it climbs steep, and then it loses speed, so it shallows its climb to gain speed, and then when it gets to the proper speed/over it, it starts climbing steep again

Rafale
I gotta say, I'm not the biggest fan of Macron, but those aviators made everything he said infinitely more credible
I fuck with the aviators
CreedAir is slowly growing
enhancement
fixes a lot of stuff
just
gpu doesn't work
and throttle is broken on landing
which I'll take over a broken plane
And I've boarded my flight today, and the weather couldn't be better lol
Currently it's light thunderstorm rain XD
Indeed
Tbh the company's quite good
It's not the best service I've seen of course, but for the price I paid it's good enough. And they're among a select few who offer flights between Dubai and Sochi
Welp, gonna deliver this one now. Thought that flying a 727 today is a must, as it's the anniversary of the 727's first service flight
Not sure where Hughes actually parked so just went to a random stand
Also funny that since getting a sidestick, I've not flown any actual sidestick planes lol
I've done a flight in a DC-6, one in an MD-80, 3 in 727s, 2 in MD-11s, 2 in 737s and 2 in A300s
I do that all the time wdym
Unless ATC tells me the stand
Only sidestick planes I fly are the A330 and A340 π
I mean, I've got the A320 family, the A330ceos, A340-300s and A380s available
Pretty sure something is broken
Well I decided to renumber all my non-revenue flights (deliveries, positionings, retirements) 9001 and up, Volanta crashed from the amount of flights edited lol
126 different flights, out of 325 total
A third of my flights was done with no payload
I might be the biggest fuel waster out there
Kodiak π₯Ά
I dont think
I ever sas the VGDS break
They cant pull the plane in
Because its broken
Dude LOL
They had to deploy the follow me
To pull it in the last few meters
That has to be the most hilarious frankfurt fail Iβve seen
This is actually pretty normal
Itβs fine if it breaks and a 737 is taxiing in because you just steal a marshaller and he guides you in
With a big boy itβs a bit different because they canβt see the ground
Only the vdgs
Bro had to wait 30-35 mins
Blocked the entire traffic
Hilarious
That is a Frankfurt issue tbh
Some stands are notoriously crap at Stansted but the ground handlers give Airfield ops a call and boom you have someone guiding you in
Frankfurt is just shit tho
It is
I never departed ontime
Not once in my lifetime
Been on the plane for 35 mins now
Still waiting
Istanbul be like
Haven't been to Frankfurt myself, but I expect it's almost as shit
Not just as shit though because nothing can be as shit as Istanbul
Similiar
Only about 30 mins late
Expected nothing less
Mfw deicing procedure now
Oh lord
XP12.4 is a fucking game changer holy shit
I'm running smoothly on these settings
consistant 45fps at the taimodels EGLL with Orbx TE GB South enabled
Have you seen xworld pro
if it runs good then holy shit haha
does anyone else go back to watch JRSchipol's video from time to time?

What
Welp. It's been a year. Exactly a year ago I've flown this plane from Renton to BFI, starting the delivery. It sat at BFI, unused, useless, for a year. Now, I finally delivered it.
The flight was literally this
It began with me just finding more interesting stuff to do, and when I finally realised I completely forgot about this one, it's been sitting at BFI for so long that I decided "Might as well make it a full year"
Halfway there
God
I hate flying
Doing the same routing years upon years is tiring
Itβs a hassle
Although flying ANA/JAL constantly so I cannot complain about legroom, food or service
I enjoy flying, but I do try and be as creative as possible with the routes I take
I think this year will be a fairly average year, 12 or 14 flights
Ngl that isnt a little amount
I do end up being suprised how much people actually fly haha
Mine adds up because I often have a change when flying
Flying to Poland is often the same price with Star Alliance changing somewhere than it is to fly direct with Ryanair or Wizzair. And I'd rather the better service and more interesting planes
Last year I had 24 flights total I think
I expect fewer this year, but I already have 4 logged
Probably will gain a fair bit over summer
I hope I'll get a roundtrip to Riyadh for Six Flags Qiddiya, as well as maybe trips to Montenegro and Turkey
If I manage to get as good a deal for Qatar F1, might go there once again as well, but that's closer to the end of the year
Oh man
I hate that as well
Depends on the airport though tbf
Tbh layovers done right are really nice
The airport plays a huuuge role
Layovers in LTFM are a nightmare
Meanwhile in Cairo it wasn't too bad
Also gotta make it not too short not too long
Or in fact, if your only option is too long, better to take a day or 2 to be able to explore the city a bit
Wouldn't recommend a 45 minute layerover at Amsterdam
45 minutes is definitely not enough
Although in Amsterdam if you're travelling within EU you probably don't have to pass through border control, right?
I was coming from the UK, so yep, needed to go through border control
Oh yeah, then definitely not a good idea lol
Tbh my general thinking with layovers is 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours
1.5 hours gives you a good minimum, in case your inbound flight is running slightly late, etc
3.5 hours so i can relax and eat food
And if you're on time, gives you a nice opportunity to grab some food in something like KFC of McDonalds
My next two are 3:55 in Vienna and 1:30 in Munich
Last time I had a connection at Munich, I missed it and ended up going to Heathrow via Zurich
Have u been to vienna
I have a 13 hr layover soon
There
Munich is a good airport to connect at
Vienna Airport is alright, not sure there's 13 hours of stuff to do though
I can't even wait 1 hour let alone 13 π
U know im a frequent flyer with status but
Can I actually leave the airport
During those 13 hours
Iβve never tried it
Just wait till you do long haul flights
Dying
You gotta connect
Just fly from OTP to MUC/FRA, the world opens up
Or Istanbul
Theyβren all massive and not too far
And im p sure its not that expensive if u book in the right season
I mean, technically you can
I'm not too sure about the exact logistics in Vienna
But I think the airport is close enough to the city?
Well im more worried abt my checked luggage
I have 13 hours, i doubt thereβll be many issues
If you say 1 hour to get off the plane and out, 1 hour to the city, 1 hour back and 2 hours to go through all the checks and board, that leaves you 8 hours of free time inbetween
I'm pretty sure it should be alright
I've left an airport with checked luggage before
As long as you have entry and exit rights at the border, shouldn't be an issue
I'm not sure border control would even tell the airline that you've left the airport
I don't think they do
And I think on layovers it's not even the airline that's responsible for luggage, they only are while it's on the plane. While you have a layover, the luggage is the airport's problem
Zurich my luggage remained at the airport whilst I stayed in a hotel
Yeah, if you have it checked in for both flights right away, you shouldn't worry about it
@trim harbor does ANA fly to china
Certainly
Yes
Unfortunately not
Major L
I wish they did retro liveries properly
Yah
Paint a 777 into just that
Meanwhile they have 1 retro livery on an A320, but it's just some random retro look, not an actual livery that's ever been worn
R/therewasanattempt
Admittedly, it doesn't look the worst, but any actual retro livery would've done better
Bare-metal-ish silver (which Aeroflot literally uses as the base colour on everything but A350s...) and "soviet" blue stripes
Meanwhile what they could've done is painted one of the 77Ws like this
It's an actual livery that was worn by their 772s, and the only adapting you'd need to do is just stretch it slightly. Like, that's a 772. You just need to apply it to a 77W.
I'm 100% certain this would sit well on an A330
Hmm, is being 4 tons over MTOW fine? I think it's fine
Initially wanted to use the other livery, this one, but that would've been just too close
Also I'm pretty sure that this reg was GE-powered in reality so idk why there's a PW logo on the engines
