#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages · Page 44 of 1
There is also an AN2 being worked on. Loved the old red eyes one before they abandoned it
Looks fairly early in dev though
china man
I think that's the straightest, the most direct routing in Chinese airspace I've ever seen
well it leaves chinese airspace
thank god for autoland (again)
Weird, I've not had any problems with it yet
the simbrief profile for the CRJs has to be wrong, because it gave me FL370 for this flight, and im barely going to hit that before TOD
im stopping at 30,000 because im losing speed rapidly
im in that weird mood, where i want to do a flight, but i don't have the attention span today to sit down and do that for a few hours
i had some caffiene, so hopefully thatll wake me up enough to lock in
Takeoff n zzz for an hour
Ez fix
id 100% sleep through it
oh wtf, i remembered that DCS has the free trial system, and i was 100% going to trial the C-130 before i got that big boost of money to see if it would be worth buying, but they dont put new releases on the free trial system
Takes 6 months-1 year

Watch youtube?
Go and take a walk
Shower?
Exercise?
Work?
touch grass and shower? id rather die
Ok can someone explain to me why my joystick and rudder pedals keep disconnecting if I move them a micrometer
skill issue probably
2026 is looking good for xp
Toliss/FF A350, FF787 (maybe), FF77L/77W/773, SCL ATR, Hotstart A220 (maybe), AFL 737Max, Potentially the nxgen scenery
something is up
with the mf a350
third longhaul in a row
where it happens
i dont get it
Inibuilds is at it again
It's bit cold in Halifax
Unlocked “Cargo Transport – Heavy” and “Cargo Transport – Super Heavy” career specializations
Finally
time to try again
if i have to autoland this junk again i will actually kill myself
Cool
Very nice
Question
What's the actual procedure to autoland the A310?
Cuz I just press every autoland button
im curious if the DCS C-130J is going to stay on sale through christmas, or if theyre going to end the release sale or whatever and then it's not going to go on sale for a while
im definitely interested in buying it for $60, i am not interesting in buying it at $80
i havent flown the A306 in a very, very, very long time
kind of an oddball aircraft
Are you ready to break the sound barrier in the Boom XB-1, America’s first civil supersonic jet in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024? This thrilling aircraft is now available for FREE across all platforms in MSFS 2024!
Boob supersonic
Well if you're going fast and start descending in nav, it'll put you into a steep rate
Every plane does that I'm pretty sure
That's the reason why I don't use VNAV for descent
Time to go back to Tokyo
: )
:)
So gorgeous ❤️
JAS deciding to pretty much use the Airbus house livery as their own, and Boeing/McD not being cool with it accidentally created the most gorgeous liveries in aviation history
the reflection on the wing
I am a literal child
sorry
hahahah thank you
hopefully
i will survive this flight
have to delay takeoff because oil temp isnt good

all the planes are happy today
Well that's a one-off
I meant more so the ones that are standard
With PSA every plane was happy XD
Btw back to when you said I'm pushing the 727 to the limits, apparently JAT had 727s scheduled on flights from Novosibirsk to Belgrade, around 5:30 XD
bruh
i just got msfs'd
loool
thats funny
i didnt even know the trees had collisions
10/10
Jugoslovenski Aerotransport can't be any less than 10/10
Wish their order for MD-11 actually happened, flying a JAT MD-11 would've been soooo cool
JAT would've been the MD-11 launch customer in fact
😐
Well fuck
I wanted to ask if there's an option for a CIVA on the xp12 720
Because I see that on the site and it's not there in xp11
Have you bought the CIVA addon?
the XP11 version is older
V3.0.0 in 11 and V4.4.0 in 12
A genuine miracle
P3D not having a default live weather system is the biggest downside of the entire simulator
im looking at getting activesky soon hopefully
im really hesitant on it though, i've played around with the free 30 day trial of FSrealWX, and it was so unbelivably foggy all of the time even on a clear day, it was unbearable, and im not sure if activesky is any better
and of course, there's always the issue of a live service niche product like that shutting down their servers and the entire app becomes a brick, like P3DWX
the default airports can be ugly and sometimes incomplete, but that is nothing compared to not having live weather, that really sucks everything out of the simulator
i also found out that the dome light makes the cockpit look properly bright during the day, its way too dark by default
Flightdeck view Boeing 717 departure from LGA
without the dome light its very dark
?????
for some reason i got the milk run acchievement in volanta from flying from melbourne to sydney
yeah thats the milk run
The milk run is a single leg flight in Australia?
What the fuck, it is
Why is it called the milk run if it is literally not a milk run
Its the OG milk run
Used to do Sydney, Canberra, Albury, Melbourne
with like 20 flights a day
in the 30's
its the 5th busiest Route in the world today
but it was the first route to be called the "Milk run" because they used to take DC2's and DC3's, fill them with milk from farms in South Australia and take them to Canberra and Sydney
trains were too slow and the weather was too hot to transport milk in a decent state
so they used planes
does make me laugh because despite the fact it isn't actually a milk run anymore when you say "the milk run" your referring to SYD-MEL
Huh, TIL
I use Active Sky P3D for all my flying & I’ve never had any issues with it
What’s the visibility like on clear days?
Clear, loads exactly as it should & gives you the metar for the chosen airport (if you uploaded the fp) or the nearest station
This is what it was like with FSrealWX in clear conditions, 10SM reported in all weather stations nearby
I’ll see if I can find a screenshot of mine that shows clear conditions otherwise i’ll just spawn in & load AS
I used to swear high & mighty to P3DWX but when it gave me weather from the week before I figured nah & got AS
Airline-branded stuff is cool
I wanna go on a Ryanair flight and take the soap dispenser from the lavetory
just steal safety cards
i have an entire stack of them 💀
dont steal the one in ur seat pocket tho
steal ur neighbors
very true
Just borrowing an undecided amount of time

Sun express?
Jet2
Hm
I've still found a free thingy that adds live weather
I don't know how good it is, but as long as the altimeter and temperature is good I can fly on VATSIM, and so far that has been good enough
Oh looks like you didn't like it
FSrealWX
yeah, its not great
it's built for FSX and older versions of P3D, i dont think it injects properly into v5
I want to fly with Chair
Just because the hilariously genius name
Hopefully I'll find some time tomorrow
I really wish they'd find a way to integrate an actual chair into their livery somehow
there's apparently a version of P3DWX that has been updated to use NOAA servers, but it seems to have the same issue as FSrealWX
it feels like the app(s) get the METAR, and it says 10SM/CAVOK/9999, and it sets exactly that in-sim, even though its most likely higher than that
i flew into detroit with FSrealWX, and i couldnt see the runway threshold until exactly 10 miles out, which is obviously not great
thats quite funny
there's a setting where you can change what the app sets the visibility to when its reported clear, but it only goes up to like 30sm or something, its not great
What does CAVOK mean anyway?
conditions and visibility okay
*Ceiling
or clouds
https://flightsim.to/file/101176/inibuilds-a330-eurofly-alitalia-group
@rustic charm IIRC you were interested when I showed I was working on it?
What's the difference between the 2001-2003 and 1994-1996 Alitalia livery?
I assume you mean on the MD-11?
- No Logos near the doors
- Black part and how it interacts with the green line is different
need to find stuff

If you think that's stupid
may I present you
A220 with squished logo
JUST 2 of them are like this
(this is the "normal" one)
if you look at Alitalia and Ita's history it's full of stupid stuff like this
I think for example some of our A320 NEOs got a slightly different racoon mask
"normal" one for reference
Me and a friend of mine that helps me with liveries come across this stuff all the time when it comes to Alitalia/ITA and other italian carriers
It's probably caused by the fact they paint them in Naples, you don't know want to know what's going on down there /s

P3D is the best because so many developers have moved on and given up their products for free, the IFE C-2 is so much fun, AND there are great aircraft carriers for it to use
i am not a fan of fighter jets, but the C-2 is really, really fun
the E-2 is alright i guess, i like the nose design better but AWACS is kind of boring
i wish there was a better system to actually spawn on the carrier, but slewing it on works i guess
Oh that's nice
Might get a bit more use out of 330s then
So I was departing Khabarovsk just now, and BATC cleared an Aeroflot 777 to land while I was still taxiing on the runway
That was fun
Too many smoke breaks
At least yours have a mask, Aeroflot decided to just not do it at all on their few neos
im sorry hot take
but that livery is ugly
Ughhh flying in Russia and seeing charts reference metres and km/h... why can't we have anything Soviet...
Imagine a Tu-134
That would be lovely
I'm sure Aeroflot sent Il-62s to Petropavlovsk too
Someone broke my airport
Why do I keep having terrain issues
The funniest part is I've been there already. I've flown in with a 777, I've flown out with a 777. There were no issues
r u using 2024
Nope, that's 20
So I'm thinking, what would a DC-9 delivery to Europe look like
They wouldn't have enough range to cross the Atlantic at once unlike 727s
That's kind of a given on a game that runs on cloud
I think terrain issues are just MSFS being MSFS tbh...
Is there any other freeware aircraft besides the level up 737 and 720
https://youtu.be/nyc3QKXhCz4?si=adexbGgp1XhfNA_h
FINALLY I managed to get a sequence to look good enough to make it into a video, there's still some "stuttering" from the camera, which is annoying. Default drone camera is stupid
Video accompanying the livery release
Yes, there's the Tu-154 and Tu-134
When I get the tfdi MD-11 in 7 million years I'm definitely gonna get your livery
damn sick
Beyond atc?
Yup
Ini a350 too
It's in the fmc
Fcm com page
I know, shocking
Crazy thing is that vatsim doesn't actually have this technically 💀
I meant more so as in making the plane actually use it
I know how to use the FMC lol
But I also know that in flight sims it's never all that simple
the nice thing about practicing carrier landings is that you don't have to worry about being smooth at all
accuracy is more important than landing rate
To be fair, commercial aviation is the same
You should prioritise accuracy
Otherwise you can easily run out of runway
well, i mean, passengers complain, nobody is going to complain about a hard landing on an aircraft carrier unless if it literally breaks the plane or deck
believe it or not, i dont really struggle with the landing itself, but i do struggle with the approach and everything
i find circling to land to be very challenging, especially when it comes to getting an even turn that rolls out in line with the runway
managing flaps, altitude, speed, and the hook, is a LOT on those two turns too
I mean, to be honest I'm not surprised at all that landing on a carrier is challenging
Imagine Kai Tak except the runway is 2 times shorter and is also moving
Oh, and no navaids of course
i have never overshot or undershot the runway, but i have been too high and went around
landing is honestly not that much different from an airliner, but getting the approach and everything perfect is what the challenge is
the manual actually has a very, very similar land approach thing too, which would be a lot easier to train with, because the runway has a known heading and everything
i am starting to get extremely annoyed
its almost like the hardest procedure in aviation is actually the hardest procedure to learn
Passengers dont know what they‘re talking about
If passengers complain, they can walk the next time
You need to use reference points
It‘s really not hard
Use reference points and reference speeds
Then it‘ll be essy
You only do it in good conditions anyway
i dont understand
You use visual ref points (end of the boat, meatball, tower) to determine when to turn
the issue isnt when to turn, the issue is the actual turn itself, i find that every time i actually enter the turn i either go too long or too shallow
it's never completely perfect to roll out onto the runway course
and when you're trying to do a landing on a moving carrier, you turn at the actual edge of the rear of the carrier right? so by the time you complete your turn and you are actually lined up, the carrier has already moved ahead of you
for static runways you give yourself about a mile until you start your turn to make up for the lack of forward movement?
You do 27-30 degress of turn usually
You do it at 650-600ft and about 450-400ft at the rear of the carrier, then call the ball once insight at a 3.5 degree angle iirc
im not entirely clear on how the angle of attack indicator works too
i know that top is slow, bottom is fast, center ball is on profile, but following that seems to be just maintaining altitude? im not sure how that works with being on a descent profile?
is it crazy to think of the angle of attack indicator as essentially a live Vapp gauge? like, it shows you your optimum approach speed and nothing else?
i think my brain is confusing it with a vertical speed gauge for some reason
It is
i dont really get how that translates to a perfect descent rate though
so AOA is just speed, nothing else?
i think my mistake is that I was trying to land a C-2 completely empty, im only just realizing, which might be why im having such hard issues keeping a proper speed, im landing at flaps 20 on a light cargo aircraft
90% fuel and only 340lbs for the crew
Oh man idk but i dont think so
Use less flaps most likely
Idk the c2
yeah, just feels weird, my brain is like "short landing = slow = many flaps", so naturally i set high flaps, but i dont take into account my weight
Dont forget
You have wires
4 of em
Flaps dont matter TOOO much
Idk what theyre certified up to
Though
yeah, my brain is just very procedure-wired, i think in what should happen and not whats actually happening
like, irl, if you're flying an aircraft and flaps 1 is enough to land, you just land with flaps 1, there's nothing that says you can't, as long as you're doing it safely
usually the C-2 is always fully loaded in both directions, so they land with like 30 degrees of flaps
It‘s like landing the md11 with flaps 50
yeah, the whole time i was really struggling to maintain the proper AOA on approach using flaps 20, it was like 1-2 knots where the aircraft would accept the speed
Pitch for airspeed, power for vs
ah, that would also explain why i am struggling

8 looks extremely interesting in the way that its mostly first person and includes ship stuff
i havent played any of the previous games, but the trailer looked really good
Ace combat 7 only cost around 5 euro (92% sale) on steam if you want to buy and try it
that's what i was planning, sounds fun
it's funny, it was a complete coincidence that i was practicing carrier stuff tonight too, i wasnt expecting a new ace combat at all
though, sim experience doesnt really translate over, i've heard its very, very arcade-y
okay, this doesnt make sense to me in practice
i cant get anything right, i turn too sharp, i turn too wide, i stall out and almost crash on the turn, i am too high and i cant kick off enough speed
i did get the payload stuff fixed, for some reason it was set to a max of 2 stations when it should have been 9
YOOOO
@hollow oracle a dumb way to do that turn is to start really tight, and then gradually open it up
I can try and show you how I'd do it in the Tomcat or Hornet?
No Hawkeye for me
I think I had that to get it but I forgot lmao
looks good
Honestly I’m just putting it on ice for now, not worth the mental distress
It’s literally a free aircraft and I’ve put more effort into it than I have most of my payware aircraft
Yeah it is
I still find it pretty fun
Try the darkstar
i just watched top gun maverick a few months ago and the whole darkstar thing was so lame
literally served no purpose to the plot other than showing that he's a test pilot now
Kind of wish the Darkstar was ported over to FS24
Tim 🤔
famous actor and scientologist tim cruise
the funny thing is that trying to land on a carrier is significantly easier in a fighter jet than it is the greyhound, i literally went straight for the hardest one
you have extremely precise engine and attitude control, and a giant bubble canopy to see everything, but the E2/C2 is like trying to land a 737 on a carrier
interesting, now I kind of want to try 😄
unfortunately I can't 🫤
well, if you have P3Dv5, both the carrier and the aircraft are free, it just needs some minor work to get it working in P3D
I don't, FSX only 🥲
visually it looks pretty great at least
oh it's on FSX as well
I'll give it a try
it's the IndiaFoxtEcho one right?
yeah, the carrier is for FSX too, the nimitz/eisenhower one
where can I find it?
I doubt it's the default carrier that's near LA?
rikoooo and flyawaysimulation have it if you want to wait 5 years for it to download
avsim has it in two parts, but you still need to download the AI carriers tool from flyawaysimulation
https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2618/fsx-aircraft-carrier-uss-nimitz/
No way it's this right?
A fully-featured, freeware aircraft carrier add-on for all versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator X (including Steam Edition) and all versions of Prepar3D (including v4) developed by Javier Fernandez. The package features the USS Nimitz along with supporting ships including the USS Eisenhower. Most of the deck is animated including thrust directo...
yeah, that's it
oh alright
I'll see if there's an S3B as well, I always thought that looked funky, I wonder how it is to fly
unfortunately there's no real clean way to spawn on the deck, you have to spawn at the nearest airport, spawn in the carrier group at a waypoint nearby, and then slew out to it
yeah, i love it when devs surrender their old products for free, definitely one of the better advantages of sticking with P3D/FSX
that's the decent thing to do really, IFE is great
aeroplane heaven, indiafoxtecho, iris simulations, miltech, all fantastic former payware that's now free
noooo the S-3 is AI only I think?
i would be lying if i said that i hadnt looked into getting the supercarrier from miltech, it looks extremely impressive for only $15, and it works with the default F/A/18, which is good enough
though the whole C-2 experience soured carriers for me for the next few weeks i think
do you have this as well?
yes, that's how you actually spawn in the carrier
though, the old java version does not work, but because it's open source someone ported it to .net, so it still works perfectly
thank you so much for the github 🙏
🤨
no authrottle and stalled?
110 knots is 10/10 landing speed
YOOOO THIS IS FANTASTIC
let's see if I can make the carriers work
eyyyyy @hollow oracle
Shift + U: Lower Launch Bar
Shift + I: Raise Blast Shield
Shift + Space: Launch
Shift + Q: Raise/Lower Hook
default keybinds for carrier stuff
appreciate it
oh hahaha
15 years later and the planes don't wobble like this on the ground
haha that was awesome
flight model is terrible though 🙁
I have reached my final form, as I have become, Texaco 1-1
yeah... i had a feeling that was the case
what in the world is this flight path
Just Turn with it, r u stoopid?
it's like FBW on steroids, I can just command exactly how the plane should move
no inertia at all
legalised slew mode
i turn with it and give it a taste on my feelings in that moment
Hawkeye flies a little better but still not good enough to be enjpyable IMO
actually, in your opinion, what's the best combination of sim/carrier/aircraft that you've seen?
it might be worth looking into something that flies like an aircraft to really learn carrier landings
im not sure how good or bad the default F/A-18 is in MSFS, but that + the supercarrier sounds really interesting right now ngl
ive looked into the indiafoxtecho F-14, but that looks like it might be pretty challenging
DCS
no comparison really, unfortunately

If you don't feel like spending money the a-4 is pretty good and is fully carrier capable
And (hot take ) is more interesting than either the tomcat or the bug
with the Hawkeye I found that looking at the actual AoA display is more helpful than the 3 symbols one
so my scan was mostly airspeed - FLOLS - AoA
that was alright
but yeah, plane is weird to fly
yeah, the actual arrows AOA indicator seems to be extremely twitchy, but i cant tell if that's because im flying horribly or if it's incorrect
I didn't really look at them tbh
might wait until i look into the C-130J a little more, because then id have a real reason to re-install DCS, and then i can try that out
On the subject of the c130, I ran into one of texture artists for it in the most unexpected discord server lol
S3 my beloved
The c130 does seem quite cool, it being the modern version detracts somewhat but I'm sure that'll sell better than one of the older models
i havent done too much research into the C-130 yet, definitely only really interested in it because it's a medium duty cargo aircraft in a sim primarily about fighters, i dont know anything about the quality
It is a lot more of an achievement though tbf, as the j contains basically a full fms that needs to be custom modeled where the older models with just tacan navigation and steam gauges would be a lot simpler systems wise
From what I've seen it looks well done, but I'm not really following it both due to waning interest in dcs and just my general lack of interest in such modern equipment
One look at that ugly ass cockpit is enough to make me nope out pretty darn quick
So much empty space on the panel
tbh im actually kind of glad its the glass cockpit, because the old steam gauges one was an OCD nightmare
Sure but they're fun
the yoke is completely offcentered from the horizon and stuff
But look at all the pretty engine dials 🤤
More seriously though, I just have never liked how digital screens look rendered in video games (regardless of type) always just prefer the far more tactile stuff
yeah same tbh
also I don't really see myself using it
Tbh screens can be good, but they need to look good to be good
My favourite glass cockpit overall as of yet is the MD-11
It just looks good
any thoughts on the captainsim 737-300? i know that captainsim in FSX/P3D is completely entirely different in quality, but i dont know how their later products are
its on sale for $30 right now
i've heard its alright, it's not PMDG quality as far as 737s go, but its also not nearly as bad as their MSFS products
oh fuck yes, all i saw in screenshots and the official video was just the old steam gauges, but there is an option for the digital ones, im definitely sold on it now
if it was just steam gauges, i was kind of hesitant because i like the digital ones more, but with the digital ones im very on board
Mid
Very mid
Unfinished product
Sadly cs moved to msfs after releasing it
Flies a to b but that‘s abt it
You‘re better off with the ixeg
For a classic 737
It‘s comparable to the CS767 (p3d)
for $30 though, im not sure
i'm watching a pretty good review right now
This is me trying out this new Boeing 737 addon from Captain Sim.
In part 1 I show you around the plane and some of the features Captain Sim has put in.
Setup:
Mifcom Battlebox
ASUS ROG Strix Z270E Gaming
CPU: i7-7700K 4x 4.6 Ghz OVC 10% WC H100i
16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000,
MSI GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
SSD 0.5TB, SSD 0.9TB, 2TB FireCuda H...
i def wouldnt pay $60 for it, but $30 is pretty tempting
you can even import a flight plan manually using airways
i've used some really stinky payware aircraft that don't even let you do that properly
Did you go for AS in the end? & apologies for not getting back, been mega busy at work sadly
I haven’t decided yet
It’s either activesky or the captainsim 737, but in a few weeks I’ll have the money to get the other, so it’s not really too big of a decision
After watching through all 3 parts of this guys review, it looks pretty good actually, and there have been a few updates since
In part 2 of the tutorial/review someone calls him on his house phone, then calls him on his cell phone, and then texts him, and then calls him AGAIN
I feel like the standard of quality for a “meh” aircraft in P3D is significantly higher than the standard of quality for a “meh” aircraft in MSFS, so that certainly helps
I can't think of any other 737CL for P3D/FSX
If you want a good 737-200 the Milviz one is free and has loads of avionics options
The flight model is very mediocre though
I'd have fairly high expectations for any Captain Sim FSX/P3D product
Although I'm not sure it makes sense
Why don't you buy the CSS for MSFS?
I get that the IXEG is a totally different price bracket, it's only the -300, etc..
If you're on Xplane11 the RG mod would give you all 737Classic variants, but the only way to get the XP11 IXEG is by sailing the seven seas...
Unless you want a very specific plane and you're sure it won't be done for MSFS, I don't really see the point in buying anything for P3D/FSX
Like, I get spending money to buy, I don't know, a VC-10, or a Vickers Vanguard, or a Coronado (not that there is one 😭) but a 737 Classic?...
Huh?
Tbh I think a VC-10 could appear in MSFS
Very unlikely, but I could see JF doing it way down the road
if it happens it'll be so far down the road it's not worth thinking about it IMHO
even the Comet in on the edge
Well tbf the comet is being made, we just have no idea when it'll be finished
yeah that's what I mean by it being on the "edge"
Such a fun approach
You start off at 9500ft, and then within 19 miles descend to 1900
And of course the localizer is slightly offset
That's 109th day in a row
Yes I have no life
It’s $120 to own it
The whole $5 a month trial thing that CSS has going is neat, but I like to actually own the things I buy
Indeed
(should be soon apparently)
Weren’t the variants a seperate purchase? I thought it was $35 for each or something
I think it might even be this month, or in January
Nope, 45 for each iirc if you want to buy them separately
no, 120 gets you the lot
$120 still gives you the full pack
-300, -300F, -400, -400F, -500
If you want to buy them separately, it's $45 for the -300, -400 and -500 each, plus the -300F and -400F are $10 on top of their base model
Hm… that is better value at least
I think though if you buy 1 of the variants standalone, the full pack and the subscription become unavailable
Last time I trialled it it wasnt all that far off
I have it right now, it's quite nice tbh
I do find it annoying that only C&D is available as the starting config, no option for GPU. But that should be improved along with the -400/-300 release
Also a bit of a pain to fly on keyboard, but it's a me problem really
Lower your altitude on the MCP
Then your plane will be able to descend in VNAV once you reach the top of descent

New khamsin website
Please do not ask whether this is safe because this is not
That plane is finally in Yellowknife... that was terrible
unsafe is the only way that ill fly
oh wow, im very impressed with the CS 737
truthfully my biggest complaint is that the screens have this weird purple dust look to them when the cockpit lights get too bright
otherwise, its a pretty functional aircraft, it's missing some really niche things like programming route offsets, but that's so niche that i have no issues with that not being present
even stuff like the avionics master switch in the backwall works
the placeholder chart they used for the yoke is the jokey miracle on the hudson one that jeppesen issued
apparently it's easy to swap out the chart that is shown on the yoke, so if you want it to be like a taxi chart or something you can do that
and fully modeled lavs
i'll do my inagural flight maybe later tonight or tomorrow, but at least on the ground i am fairly impressed
it would still be really funny if we got the GTA map in a flight simulator, even though the runways are tiny it would be cool
or even a GTA map but scaled up
Pre orders open for IL2 Korea. Will certainly buy, but not out til q2 26 at the earliest, so too far out for me
yeah, kind of what i expected, pretty mediocre, but mediocre isnt nessicarily bad
it is kind of funny, you can open all windows and doors in cruise (which is phyiscally impossible because of the air pressure difference), but it does at least cause an instant rapid depressurization, and the alt horn cutout does work thankfully
for $30 im not really that dissapointed, but no way i would pay $60 for this thing
all of the aircraft that i have flown recently really love to do -6000fpm top of descent dives
both the A306 and the 737 did it
i tried doing the trick where you go into V/S to ease the top of descent a bit, but the VNAV is always way too aggressive
for some reason the VNAV is not following restrictions, it REALLY wants to descend on its own schedule regardless of any restrictions
this is a fucking mess, it dives at 6000fpm every time the restriction lifts because the VNAV isnt following restrictions, and then when i tried landing the glideslope and localizer never appeared but they did arm, and then it just didnt follow the glideslope and instead descended me at 1800fpm into the ground
i didn't end up filing a chargeback with the 717 because i didnt want to be banned from captainsim just incase I wanted to try out their P3D stuff, but now i'm going to give the chargeback a shot, because i am 1,000% not interested in captainsims products any longer
haha... i just realized that i charged it to my debit card, so i cant even charge back
why is it that every time i try i buy myself something nice to keep myself sane, it's garbage that never works
first it was the 717, and now the 737
Doesn't sound unreasonable for a 737 classic TBH
The VNAV in that thing was famously shit
I don't bother every time I fly that in Xplane to be honest, I use the ToD indication to start descending (when it looks reasonable), and that's about it
Although I would expect it to follow restrictions
what is volanta on bro 😭
wrong livery sir
What's wrong with it apart from the fact it's not the older one
Couldn't find an older one tbf
the flightsim.to search is absolute ass
it's worse than awful
it's so bad that the only way they could have made it so bad is by actively trying to engineer the possible in-site search ever known to man
like...
how is this even possible
Let's go
What's that
Vatsim wrapped
Ah
my most flown plane is the A310
Around 25% of my total flight time is on MD-11s
eh... i guess, but this was definitely a high descent rate because the VNAV path was extremely eager
even on a restriction that went from 15000 to 14000A, the VNAV commanded 6000fpm down and it met the altitude in like 2 seconds
but that might be because the VNAV was showing i was constantly high to the maximum limit, it was trying to meet some arbitrary path
idk, i might just be burnt out with flight sims, because this completely killed any interest in playing flight sims for me
yeah looks like the VNAV path got messed up for some reason
sorry to hear that you're getting burned out with flight sims though
eh, it happens with every hobby, just kind of sucks that its happening now, and over this
like, why
it should be going direct to the waypoint
the aircraft will level off and even descend to meet 250kts at the thrust reduction altitude if you enable autopilot before then too
it intercepts the path between BBYSE and the next waypoint, not the waypoint itself
oh, and over 10,000ft the aircraft doesnt speed up at all, it just stays at 250kts
though, you can manually change that in the FMC at least, but then the aircraft descends/stops climbing to speed up again
it's definitely a massive issue that it's hard to tell apart actual boeing issues vs captainsim issues
i want to say that the real 737 classics had issues with both climb and descent VNAV, but im only certain about descent issues, not climb issues
yeah, VNAV is not happy, just hit T/D, instant -6000fpm nosedive, and it's reading that im so high from the path that it's off the charts
oh yeah wtf, the VNAV is way off, at WAYMN it wants 5140, and YUKKY has a 9000B restriction, with the next waypoint having a 4000A
yet the VNAV is showing im significantly high
oh yeah, vertical speed is the way to go to fly this aircraft, descent, approach, and landing went smooth as butter
it does suck that VNAV is a bust, but if that's the only real thing technically wrong with it, im fine with that
at least i know how to fly it now, i can get a few flights under my belt with it and call it a wash
one million percent not reccomended though, just for the emotional anguish i went through alone
and captainscam absolutely deserves that nickname for certain, and i hate it when people call stuff scams, but holy fuck is captainsim stuff an actual scam
1.04G, exceptionally good landing, especially when P3D reports way higher Gs than any other sim
So just seen now, apparently a couple of days ago the last in-service An-22 disintigrated mid-air on a test flight after repairs
7 people onboard lost their lives but thankfully nobody on the ground was hurt
Time for 4 hours of an almost full US coast to coast flight on nothing but VORs 😎
Actually might not make it considering I did cut the Eastern delivery short at New Orleans after 3:30 and that was a lighter DC-9-10
So plan here is to judge how it looks while I'm passing Memphis and land there in case what
Wow
KATL has basically nothing in terms of conventional navigation
Doesn't even have a VOR station it looks like
Most likely it used to, just got rid of stuff now that pretty much every plane is RNAV-capable
Welp, let's take off and see what happens lol
Dark
Not dark
@trim harbor longer than my previous longest DC-9 flight (not counting Hawaii since that had 'extra fuel') by another 50 minutes. This was also a bigger and heavier DC-9-30, the previous one was a DC-9-10
I just remember you said 3:26 feels like too much for a DC-9
Using the leaked version of the PMDG 737 for 2024 permanently bans your PMDG account, and they won’t unban you until you buy the 2024 edition at “full list price”
I mean you'd be pretty fucking stupid to use the leaked 737 anyway
Viruses in guessing
that & the possibility of having a plane that might be outdated by the time it releases, especially since stuff is still being tweaked in the background
thats actually funny asf
peak pmdg trollage
Tbh I wouldn't say they're necessarily wrong for doing that
I don’t really have much strong thoughts on it either way, but I will say, that has to be an extremely finicky system, I’m curious if there has been any false positives put out by OC3 yet about it
I don’t really fault people for being curious too, especially for something as high profile as the PMDG 2024 update, and it being leaked super early
im almost completely certain that it's a press copy given out, and somebody who recieved it sent it to a friend, who then sent it to a friend, etc etc
if anything, the only updates to it by release will be bug fixes (if anything at all, knowing PMDG), and it would be beyond stupid to infect a leaked flight sim aircraft with a virus, unless if your flightsimlabs
or you're like any of the torrent sites
pretty sure the leaked A380 had some bitcoin miner shit in it too
the leaked A380 was safe, again it was a press copy that was leaked, the only reason why that rumor started is because the performance in the A380 is so shit (especially the first release) that people thought it had to be a bitcoin miner or something
leaked by a cc
so yes
idk who tho
honestly, im not fussed either way, I'd happily pay the full price (even did with the FSL neo) just to have an NG for 24
yeah, PMDG has the right to do whatever they want to protect their IP, but i also get why some people in the community are upset by it
i dont even own 2024 so i could not care less either way
PMDG literally owns their own private jet, so make of that what you will
noooooooooooo JAX ctr closed as soon as I entered their airspace
they were only online for 1h 🥲
well that was fun at least 😄
I still find it funny how Eastern decided to state that 727s are whisperjets
I'm sorry but 3 JT8Ds that quite often will work full capacity on takeoff is anything but whisper
the idea is that you were ahead of the engine, instead of underwing
727s are loud by modern standards, but in the 70s they were significantly quieter by comparison
At least they're turbofans lol
yeah, for better or for worse, doing vertical speed for climb and descent works wonders
LNAV is a mixed bag, sometimes the path is weird, sometimes it isnt
P3D my beloved
They technically own a dc3 too
The whole situation is kinda funny
that was sold a while ago, and its unservicable
i mean, if they put it in their EULA its completely legal, but the second that OC3 gives a false positive and bans someones account, it's going to be a powder keg going off i feel
Apparently its not in their EULA
People in the subreddit saying they‘re gonna file a lawsuit
I dont think people realize both cost and time lol
Wait what happened?
people downloading the leaked 737 & having their PMDG accounts banned
Having the accounts banned means they can't fly the planes they bought?
That would suck 🫤
I understand it though
I mean
They pirated a product
Fair on pmdg in that case
But u could say the same abt fslabs and it still isnt right
Imo atleast
The way I see it:
Not as bad as FSLabs, you know, this isn't malware. At the same time, I don't see it being right punishing people that downloaded the plane, they should figure out and go after who shared it around first.
There are loads of "non-malicious" people/reasons that could lead to you to install that 737, maybe it's just FOMO because all your friends have tried the new 737, maybe you genuinely just want to try it (I admit here that I pirated stuff so that I could try it, and then removed it).
The fact that the punishment also brings PMDG more revenue (you can just create another account and buy the planes again I assume), and the fact that they're showing that you don't actually "own" any of their planes and they can just take it away at a moment's notice if you do something they don't like sends a very bad message.
Also, how does removing all the legitimately acquired planes make the situation any better? It just encourages more piracy, if PMDG randomly decided to take all the planes I bought from them away, being honest, the first thing I would do is looking to pirate them, I gave them the money, I should have the planes.
It's just another facet of the "you'll own nothing and be happy" state of digital products
If I PURHCASE a PRODUCT, the seller should stop caring about anything I do or install in my PC (or about how I use the product at all) the moment the receive my money, I OWN the PRODUCT and I OWN my own Personal Computer.
The problem is that they're selling a one time payment SUBRSCIPTION to a SERVICE, and they're just pretending that you actually purchase a product.
and this isn't just PMDG btw
it's not just plane devs in FS either
To draw a parallel to show how ridiculous this would be:
A friend of a friend passes me a bootleg DVD that shows an internal screening of a new Disney movie that isn't out yet in cinemas, because I consumed that piece of media, a Disney representatives comes to my house and takes away from me all my Disney DVDs and Blu-Rays
It's beyond me why all of this is acceptable in the "digitial market"...
PMDG being so openly anti-ownership will probably change wheter or not I pirate or buy from them.
If I pirate one of their planes they won't be able to take it away from me.
So yeah... just another company that doesn't understand the only way to defeat piracy is to offer a better service than the pirates 😄
Sorry, I didn't want to comment about this whole thing because I knew I'd end up with a huge rant
Does it? I'm not sure
PMDG doesn't use any background apps or anything while you're running MSFS
And their planes are also on the marketplace so you don't even need a PMDG account to run them
Plus I think I've flown PMDG planes while being offline?
yea OC3 is really only used for liveries
in that case I take everything I've said back
I am no longer depresseed about the state of our society
I don't take issue with not allowing people to purchase further products after you have pirated something, but what you have already purchased is now yours and regardless of legality it is now yours and they should have no right to steal them from you.
Two thefts does not make a right
Thanks for reducing my incoherent waffle into one sane paragraph
Genuinely
Winrar entered the chat
Wonder if they‘ll take statement to it
I‘d hope so
Looks like I'll finally be able to realise an idea I've had for like 3 years 🥲
It's VIFFing time
Can bro keep it up for a year
I could try, but not right now. I decided to break it today specifically cause it's at 111, the goal initially was to reach that (my friend's streak, the guy who helped me get into flight sim initially, is 111), and I know I won't be able to keep it up for too much longer due to the fact I'll have a bunch of real flights during holidays, so decided it would be kinda nice to keep it the same as him
Maybe the year will be a goal at some point
But currently I have a longer streak than anyone else I know anyway. Would be kinda cool if Volanta showed the longest streak someone ever had, that would be the goal then
Is it back on sale?
No, I wish, I just found the time and opportunity to do it with a person that is actually interested
What is it with this company man
What happend that they took a 180
It‘s almost a literal cs move
Make banging fsx/p3d products and just make the biggest L decisions in msfs
I dont get it
in the next 6 months: "we're proud to announce that we're releasing a GSX compatibility pack for $60"
Kinda glad I havent paid for their stuff for MSFS
If they are screwing us over
That and their prices are egregious
Not even that
“PMDG Ground Handling 24 - $75”
And it’s just one guy pushing some stairs around
not my finest work, but I got it down
I have no idea why my brain convinced itself as I was doing that last turn that I was supposed to land on 27L instead of R hahahah
always fascinating when stuff like this happens, those are the very real psychological issues that can lead to real incidents
I'm too rusty to do stuff like this now I think 😅
@reef isle @rustic charm guys
Christmas might be coming early
#msfs2020 #msfs2024 #flightsimulator
A first-look at our eagerly anticipated F70/100 Professional for MSFS 2020 and 2024.
Here's a link to our end of year round up covering the F70/100. Well worth reading this in conjunction with viewing this video: https://www.justflight.com/articles/end-of-year-round-up-2025-part-three
Full product deta...
The trailer's there now?
That's nice
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the RJ trailer literally a couple of days before it released?
They said next year in their thing
The text update
Oh no I'm an idiot, I'm wrong. I misread
There's still hope
A300B6 when
ignore the stairs
Nah bro they're leased trust
in Katowice?
How is the 747-8F in msfs 2024?
Flyable sounds accurate for an asobo plane
Are JT and JF related?
Ah so theyre the EA of the flying world
Greedy, horrible company
Yes
JustTrains and JustFlight are the same company
The devs will be different teams of course, cause you gotta know the specifics of the games
no way 😭
Sorry for your loss
I will never emotionally recover from this
I watched the first 5 minutes of the live to see if he mentioned me at all, thankfully he didn't, but unfortunately I've lost about 75% of my braincells
paraphrasing "planes are all the same, if you can start an Airbus or a Boeing, things are just in a slightly different position"
Tries to override the automatic fuel system for no reason and doesn't even manage to do that 😭
Bruh
...
even though i just got the captainsim 737 classic in p3d, im still kind of interested in the -500 for MSFS
i hate that its a subscription model, but $5 for a month to "trial" the aircraft is a very smart business tactic
Actually, is it worth it on sale? $60 for it seems way too much
Im still considering it a little bit
I'd say yes if you really want a DC-9 and don't have anything similar
Oh god no
Why would you try to override MD-11's automatics
It's a very smart plane
It only looks old
It's not old
In fact I'd say apart from flight controls, it's probably the smartest plane
Had it been given FBW, I would've confidently stood my ground in calling it the smartest plane overall
DWC is a fun place
Not a single jetway gate
In fact not a single connected stand, every single one is a remote stand
A small, 1-floor terminal
Can't quite believe that in 5 years time it will be the country's main airport
So pretty
It's crazy that McDonnell Douglas developed probably one of the best cockpits ever just as they were about to be acquired by Boeing that just ended up never using it...
Technically they used it in the 717, but that's just a different name for the MD-95
Every day that passes without TFDi announcing a 717 for MSFS I get closer and closer to buying it for FSX
Oh a 717 would be really neat
And I absolutely agree
The cockpit is amazing
The whole plane is amazing too
Apart from toublesome aerofynamics of course
But that gives it a fun quirk too
I think though MD should've just kept the DC-10 horizontal stabiliser untouched
Yes it'll mean even worse fuel efficiency and slightly less range
But it would've had much more control
so I was wonder why there were so many Qatar airways planes flying to Doha
then an event started there
Some nice discounts on the flying circus stuff at the IL2 sale
YES
FIRST SCREENSHOT
Oh my god that's beautiful
I kinda reckon January release maybe?
Yeah, don't think I'm doing that, thanks PMDG but I'll wait for 747s now
rebuilt from the ground up 737 that still feature the 30 fps animations that were first pioneered in FS2004
nice having a 737 for FS24 though
It's one of them bullets I don't mind biting but it's still annoying
I basically paid full price despite being entitled to the discount due owning the 2020 737
god fucking damnit i hate VOR navigation
if you have 2 VORs, and the flight plan tells you that the radial between the two VORs is 300, shouldnt it not matter what VOR you're on??????
like, how does it work in an airliner????
all of the videos i can find on youtube relate to single VOR navigation in GA aircraft, not airliner navigation between enroute VORs
im over it
and then fucking simbrief put my cruise altitude way above what the aircraft can actually cruise at, especially managing it all manually
Not necessarily, it should always be within a few degrees
You can see it here for example on the BALET5 arrival in LAX, if you switch over when it tells you, it changes by 1°
I usually try to switch to the VOR ahead as soon as I possibly can
I remember a few cases where it changed by about 3/4° if the VORs were very far apart
i just gave up, not worth my time
Sorry
it's like every time i fly a VOR aircraft in any sim, i can never get it right no matter how much i learn or know
it's just not worth the headache, anything post-1980 is going to have some sort of RNAV based navigation anyway
is there no simbrief import on the CSS 737?
i updated the nav data, but it says nav data not updated, there's nothing in the nav data menu, and i'm missing arrivals into warsaw, so that's fun
why is it that everything has been fucking slop garbage trash recently
everything that i buy or want to buy is fucking trash that doesnt work
well, i guess im feeling a little better about the captainsim 737 in P3D, the VNAV on the CSS one works as bad (if not worse) than the captainsim one
i ended up turning VNAV off in the CSS one, similar issues on takeoff, the VNAV leveled out (and started descending) for no real reason, i think it might have been speed related but i have no idea at all
thank god the one month trial of the CSS 737 is only $5, i dont feel bad not even completing a flight with it, if i want a 737 classic id just fly the one i just got in P3D that isnt a subscription based one
today just isnt my day 🥲
We already had one since release though
Im still waiting for my $100 discount for owning the p3d version
That they promised
Had one what since release?
737
If you’re talking about the included 73 MAX, its shit & frankly not something i’d fly again
Don't take this wrong, but I think if you have issues with certain aspects of the plane across multiple different aircraft from multiple different devs, that doesn't mean that the planes are wrong. Maybe in this case it's better to not switch between different aircraft but stick with one and push yourself to understand how to do the things you're having issues with
I will say from personal experience - I learned pretty much everything on the 737NG. A plane that is easy to fly, a plane that I'm familiar with. That made it really easy to then move onto other aircraft, because while I still had to learn the actual flying characteristics, I already had the navigation fully covered
