#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages · Page 40 of 1
I might just fly Air China again with a self transfer
Could be worse I dare say
Surreal
w
i got my trackir out again, im still not really interested in using it
its cool technology, and im sure in the name of accessibility its a massive tool, but for my uses i dont really see a point
For airliner stuff it isn't that crucial
For GA moreso, for air combat very much so
I can't really fly without it
Even airliners
I did a flight recently without it and it was such a huge chore having to rotate the view every single time with the mouse
im using the default profile, so that might be why, i hate how it "sticks" to the main axis'
its just a lot of trial and error to find out what i like though, because too smooth and stiff isnt fun, but too loose and its a lot of movement
Yeah, it's a pain to set up at first, but it's one-and-done i find
I used to use VR for airliner startup and takeoff, the MSFS feature to switch between VR and 2D was super helpful for cruise though, then back to VR for the landing
Ain't nothing like feeling the sense of scale
i've really wanted to try that recently, but ive been too lazy to get my VR headset out and charged xd
VR really does give you a sense of depth that completely changes the sim
I still need to try out the new Oasis driver for my reverb
Apparently it's better than WMR ever was
i really wanted to see if i could get flyinside working for FSX, but it seems like it doesnt want to play ball
i've only ever tried out VR in MSFS a little bit for takeoff in the PMDG 737, and it went pretty good, but i think i had issues when it came to switching back to 2D for cruise
i never realized that the MCP stuck out so far from the displays and main panel, it was pretty cool to see, and it made me realize how much you miss playing on a flat screen
you know what i really love
doing a flight, forgetting to check that your destination airport isnt broken, and then on approach you realize that your runway is sunk like 30ft into the ground
It was pretty much plug&play for me
The settings are quite annoying and the way the VR controllers work seem quite annoying
But other than that it was just a matter of setting a few binds
i might try it again, i forget what error i had gotten, i think it was something to do with oculus
tbh i dont even plan on using VR controller, just the headset + mouse/controller
When I got my VR headset I thought the same, but then quickly changed my mind tbh
But that's fair enough, we don't have to be the same
In that case even FlyInside is even better
I have an old and dumb Rift S, which seems to be fairly reliable 🤞
But a few friends of mine that have more recent headsets have had a lot more problems
im using a quest 2, which at this point is an ancient artifact compared to the 3
it probably isnt helping that i pulled a muscle in my upper right back too, i can barely sit up straight, let alone look all over the place to use trackir/VR right now
the rift was so good for its time
crazy to think its 'old' now
The new JF\Thranda Archer
@runic hare
u think i can just ask for them to NOT check my baggage thru and leave the airport
because theres no way in hell im sitting at the airport for 12 hours
like the hell will happen w my bag
yeah
just ask for it to be sent to vienna and check it for the return
ive done this before in stockholm
19h layover 11am-6am
can someone fact check my fmc?
Can I just leave my bag there tbh
And leave
I‘ll have the tickets already
your gonna have to pay for a locker
oh
yeah you can check it through
its non shengen to shengen soo
well AUA op by bra
ah
nah ur gonna be alright
yeah check with ana then with aua as well
i could have checked a bag through all the way from WAW-MAN and that was with SAS
if its one itinerary then it should be ok?
i mean you need to clear security again anyway at VIE
so in theory they should send it through but it isnt standard so check with the airlines
worst comes to worst send the bag to a locker in the airport and leave it for a few hours while you explore
wait so is braathens star alliance then
Austrian flight operated by braathens
yea ig
replacement for the ancient Q400's while they have yearly maintenance
the flight is austrian so its up to them to sort it
winter schedules innit
see what the airlines say then ask when you get to haneda as well
ofc
when i went in feb i caused chaos because i asked them to check my bag thru on another star alliance carrier
surreal
check in literally took an hour
yeah it depends on who you have as a checkin agent as well
Don't worry, baggage lost & found usually works anyway
the older ones usually know exactly what you want to do and how to do it
If Ethiopian managed to find a lost suitcase somewhere between Cairo and Zanzibar (I still don't know where and how exactly it got lost), I'm sure in Europe it'll be no problem
It is a cool place indeed tbf
Ehh, I wouldn't quite say below expectations, but I didn't expect too much
Those were also short hops in the middle of the night, so not much to judge from
what routes did u fly
I was mostly just a bit negatively surprised by how dirty their interiors were on planes that were essentially brand new (I don't remember exactly but I think it was twice A350 twice 787? Some mix of those 2 anyway)
I did Cairo - Addis Ababa - Zanzibar one way and then returned by Kilimanjaro - Addis Ababa - Cairo
Cairo airport is a mess
The entirety of egypt is a big mess outside of the hotel areas
Although one thing I will note is the connection through HAAB, they do wait for passengers. Especially from late-running flights. On the way to Zanzibar we had a total of like 30 minutes from arrival to scheduled departure in the end. And we got parked on a remote stand on the inbound flight. I was rather sure about missing a flight for the first time, but on that one not only did we make it in time, we also waited for a bunch of people to board after us, and they even reloaded all the baggage onto the new plane
(The lost suitcase was my brother's, he was flying in a day later on the same route, but his inbound flight got even more delayed)
god
So I checked on my flightradar records
It was indeed twice 350 and twice dreamliner
350s were both on the way to Zanzibar, 788s on the way back
And an ATR-72 from Zanzibar to Arusha inbetween XD
Lucky
I wanna fly on an a350
90% of my flights were dreamliners
Crj and dreamliners
My most-flown widebody is the 777 and I'm proud
you have not lived until you have flown an ATR 42 into heathrow
:(
(Mostly cause Aeroflot now barely flies 330s out of Moscow, and with 350s... there were 7 to begin with iirc, and I'm pretty sure several are in storage now)
Okay now that's definitely a serious take XD
But I do respect the opinion
Plus it really depends on your experience with the type
I‘ve flown ANA,JAL,EK 77s and hated it
Old and loud, IFEs were meh at best
787 is nice but boring af
777's are cool but this is cooler
The worst long haul experiences I had were on A330s, so I dislike 330s, it really comes down to that
I do have a collection of greenland tho l o l
Does loganair still fly
ofc
Tbf I don't even think I've flown 777s with any airline other than Aeroflot
I AGREE
A330 sucks
I like A330's
And with Aeroflot, the 777 is easily the best in the long haul fleet
The best cabin by far
Turkish a330s sucked so mich 😭
however I have only flown shorter routes on them
I think the flight that ultimately decided that I don't like 330s was Moscow to Male, which is... 8-ish hours?
BA 767 once as well
Maldives airport
My condolences
Tbf it wasn't bad
Construction site of an airport
And then boarding a twin otter on floats was cool
In 2022 atleast
I AGREE
BA had a 2-4-2 shorthaul config so it wasnt great
Flying twotters was amazing
Ngl I wish I experienced Aeroflot Il-96s
767 shorthaul to where
madrid as well
I dont think I‘ve eve seen a BA767
That recent tf
BMIII
I prefer that look tbhhh
Not just because it's Il-96 only one of the coolest planes ever, but because iirc they had the 4th widest fuselage and cabin (behind 380s, 747s and 777s) overall, and they were configured as 3-3-3
Lucky
landor 767
Im hunting for a dash flight rn
they are quite rare now unfortunately
in central europe at least
Flybe, AirBerlin, LHRegional all no longer flying
That's cool
Lh regional my love
I've never had a cockpit tour
I will never forget you
It depends on the airline
Strict with those in Russia
also ultra rare 767-200 US Airways lease to BA for gatwick routes to south america
I asked after the flight on the 747 with Rossiya, got told that they don't even allow flight attendants into the cockpit
Ooh a trading card as well, cool
Happy enough I got to fly on a 747-400 in 2025 overall
Very very kind people
I envy you
Ngl I love how it still very much is MD
Like
That's not a Boeing cockpit alright
Not at all
744 is still on my bucket list
I hate that airline with all my life
Just Lufthansa XD
Rossiya w livery
ACF should have been the boeing flight deck of choice instead of whatever the fuck the NG's had
YES
Acf?
common between the MD11 and 717(MD90)
I love the Rossiya livery, and tbh I love all the Aeroflot liveries too, and there were many
Shame that my only chance at an Il-96 now is Cubana
And an Il-86... completely gone
for now.....
I WISH
I WISH THEY UNDERSTOOD THAT ITS A GOOD DESIGN AND WE SHOULD RESTART PRODUCTION
Cubana based
Like literally the main problem of both the Il-96 and the Tu-204 is the need for a flight engineer
At this point I‘d visit NK and Cuba and not care that I cant ever get ESTA anymore
The TU204 needs a FE???
Yeah
I've got the Saab 2000, ATR 42/72, Q300/400. I just wanna fly on an IL114 now
Wtffffff
Saab on loganair?
Yet guess what, we build Superjets that don't need an FE, why not just apply the same concept onto the other planes. We clearly can do it, we just don't want to
UK regoinal
Just scrap the whole MC-21 project already, admit defeat, it's not needed. Just take the cockpit developments from that plane and apply them to a Tu-204
Maybe I do have to go to the UK again
not anymore i think
I totally forgot about the mc21 lol
im not sure if its all ATR's yet but that was there plan
Tbf a Tu-114 is probably impossible
Well
Not probably
Definitely
They're gone
flew HUY-ABZ on a Saab2000 with them
But a Tu-95... technically the chance is not 0
they are restarting production no?
fle PLH-LCY when i was a young boy with AirSouthwest on a Q300
I am stupid
I thought you were talking about the tu-114
I think il-114 is indeed planned to be restarted
Wasnt flybe supposed to restart
ATR 72's everywhere
Am I remembering wrong
Ngl I've never flown on any turboprops other than the ATR-72-500 once
turboprops cool
Scary planes
I do agree they're cool
Would love to fly on some older ones too
An-24
(Can we pls pls pls have one in MSFS)
Those are still in service too
Wish russia was open :(
In the more forgotten regions, but they still fly
Im too scared to go
@trim harbor Eastern Airways Saab 2000 operating for British Airways
Wtf
Thats cool but weird
I never knew
this did LCY routes to silly places like Prestwick, Inverness, Sumburugh, Derry
Technically the borders are not closed, but it's expensive now, and there will be questions both when you enter Russia ("Who do you work for? Who sent you here?!") and when you go back home ("Now what exactly have you been doing in Russia? What have you told them?!")
London city cool airport
also i think to plymouth as well before it closed
Shitty immigration tho lol
Yeah I can get an e visa still
But I‘ve read up on it
air southwest my beloved
Oh yeah, now it's really tough for "unfriendly" foreigners
the better southwest airlines
Tbf it's unlikely they'll take it without returning, but they will ask to search it and you'll spend hours at immigration
Ofc ofc but yknow
I dont like them looking at it nor do anything w it
I understand it but noty
I absolutely understand
I wouldn't want my phone being searched for no reason either
If
It will eventually

Ngl would love for it all to be over myself. Would finally visit Europe again, and would finally go to the US and Canada. Always wanted to visit, but never got the chance
Please please please please tell me there's a livery for FJS
Im suprised u didnt know that airline
Or maybe u did
I (big) think that they had similiar routes to JTA now
They even habe a retro livery for it
Ngl Japan seems cool
Goes so hard
No I didn't
But it's right up my alley
It's so stupid but I love these kinds of tiny airlines that are named very closely to huge airlines
Same thing with the Alaskan Ryan Air
Depends on the area
It is not the heaven everyone makes it to be
I dont know why it blew up so much either
im getting this extremely annoying bug in MSFS where the camera skips around all over the place
ignore dougdoug
in that clip im moving my mouse smoothly
it seems like its related to chaseplane, when i disable chaseplane in the options the default camera is smooth
its related to chaseplane bridge module apparently
normally its pretty consistent with its uptime, but occasionally it spikes to +/-50ms, and thats when the camera skips around
i had to kill the flight because i was going to go insane from this camera
They'll be out of Lakenheath, not Mildenhall - the bases are pretty much right next to one another so it's just flightradar guessing
But yeah, they go up pretty much every day other than weekends and holidays
Unrestricted climbs on fridays too
mach 1 ground speed is crazy
Around 3 hours until Moscow
Under 2 hours left
Following the NDB into Bella Bella
I need to get auto ortho back online and do some more GA Flying
Almost in Moscow
The more I fly this plane, the more I like it
Amazing thing tbh
Welp, could be worse
Wet Bella Bella
It's nice going to an airport that you know how to approach exactly even without any charts
Altitude restrictions, speed restrictions, I know it XD

the example below is a bad, but the actual meaning stands
Always fun landing this thing
Broke through the clouds early enough, around 2000 agl
But the problem of me being just 2 knots below the normal 160kt limit on approach remained
https://www.justflight.com/product/tb10-tobago-and-tb20-trinidad-xplane
I I really want to buy those
They have the even worse variant of this shitbox in my local aeroclub (TB-9)
It's most likely just an advisory tbf
Could be that the plane started automatically crossfeeding or moving fuel
I know nothing about the 747 sorry 😅
all the stuff I found online were about the reserve tanks but those were empty the whole flight
Does the 74 have fuel tank heating?
In case not, quite likely it started recirculating cold fuel
it does
The 11 does that, I constantly get a mini heart attack when I'm just cruising normally and suddenly yellow "FUEL" pops up on the screen
Something that has 3 autopilots XD
The 747s actually are the only ones like that, right? All the other airliners have 2 APs
Or even 1 in some cases tbf
I should fire up my 727, my 146 or my MD80 and do more airliner stuff 😁
Press C and try again
c doesn't do anything
Still doesn't move?
C is the keybind for switching between controlling the camera and the plane in external view
ok 767 has 3
and ofc that also means the 757 has 3 as well
Fair
I'm so far from the 80th parallel that I can't even see my plane on the screen anymore
how is it that literally every single flight sim on earth, its better if you use at least a controller
but in war thunder, the meta is keyboard and mouse
i got like 8 kills in tank mode with controller, so im absolutely cracked with that, but all i was able to do with flying was crash into the ground and then ragequit
Same with BF6 but you can become better if you learn how to thrust vector properly with the F22 and SU57
because it flies the plane for you
with keyboard and mouse you can just tell the plane where you want to point the nose and let it do everything else for you
aiming guns and dumb munitions is infitely easier in WT compared to any other flying game/sim for this very reason 😄
If you notice, even the pro players still use keyboard and mouse, tapping w and s to fine tune their circle and speed managment and a/d to fine tune roll
D-Cord: https://discord.com/invite/XXS57Hw5zd
Walrus Web: https://willie-walr.us/
Yes its the F-2 in the game you love to see it.
Not such a gauntlet of a video this time, but with a quicker turnaround.
No, your mirage does not force "1 circle" and win.
안녕하세요 스필리
the only instance I've seen of good players using direct control was to go beyond the envelope (i.e. pull cobras and stuff)
I don't play war thunder btw, I just enjoy watching war thunder content
Yeah I used to play World Of Tanks
not making that mistake ever again
Ngl, I used to really enjoy tank battles on low ranks
And by low ranks I mean literally just 1-2
Soviet starter tanks, especially BT-5, are very overpowered
I'm sure it can be fun, but for my money's and mental health's sake I'm never ever going to play grind based free to play games
Ace Combat's tech tree is as far as I'm willing to go
It literally drives somewhat like a sports car, reloads in an instant and manages to break any opposing tank
But then rank 3 is decent, and on rank 4 you start simply grinding, not unlocking anything new, and the game becomes instantly so much harder
After 10 years I've got to a place in WoT where I'm sort of "post scarcity", I have enough tanks and they give away enough stuff that I can play 100% free to play and don't feel any kind of pressure to play to unlock X or get Y done
and that's just because the devs have not been good enough at making the game misreable enough to force me to spend more money, only at that point it started to become actually fun
I unlocked T-34 and realised I don't even enjoy those matches anymore because I get knocked out of them in the first 3 minutes
its kind of funny, war thunder is famous for its extreme accuracy, but you cant fly it like a flight simulator
though, i guess thats kind of down to the playerbase, if you had an entire match with everyone on controller its probably significantly more balanced
I wouldn't really say that. compared to other games, sure
but compared to DCS it has its advantages and disadvantages
im ripping absolute ass in tanks though, ive played 3 rounds without even taking damage
aircraft not so much, ive gotten 0 hits and crashed 3 aircraft
I've heard suprisingly good things about WT Air SIm
But
WT Air Sim you're forced to cockpit view and you can't fly with keyboard and mouse
it's very unfortunate that it's the one and only option to fly many planes 🫤
war thunder has a great controls setup (it just takes a while to figure it out), and you can "fly" it like a sim, but as far as combat goes you pretty much have to use keyboad + mouse if you want any sort of success
air Air RB yes
in Sim no
because I think you can't
Or if you can't it will be a rubbish experience, because you have direct control of the plane
In this comprehensive guide on War thunder Sim, we will walk you through the essential steps to help beginners take to the skies confidently with a mouse and keyboard setup. From mastering flight controls to prioritizing safety, we'll provide you with the necessary knowledge for a smooth experience. Additionally, we'll delve into the intricacies...
you have a sort of "mouse yoke" (like FSX)
that's definitely not competive against a good stick
ah, its a gamemode, it took me a second to realize what sim was
yes, sorry 😅
im still in the diaper baby game modes, ive had the game since 2016 but ive played like 10 minutes total
im not at a high enough level yet to where i have to really grind, id like to unlock the B-17 because autism, but im just enjoying playing bideo james right now
as a video game, i am indeed having fun
I wish my brain had the ability to function in this manner 😭
idk, i dont really get into the whole microtransactions thing until i really like a game
if DLC counts as microtransactions then i am not correct
I meant more about the idea of just having fun without any other goal
last time I played sim I used a 4.3 bomber at 9.3
N E A T
Tivat?
Decided to do it now because landing in that direction allowed better winds, even though in reality this approach is used very rarely
Yes indeed
Love that airport
It kinda feels weird to not have been there last summer
Parked up the best I can but in this airport it's the most challenging part XD
I hope Ablomis and the dev he's working with (My guess is still JF) make good work of the 154 but don't take too much time, I kinda want to do this stuff
So many Russian planes I want in this game 😭
And half of them flew to Tivat at some point
Also I probably need to get to grips with JF's F28, cause Montenegro Airlines had those
Oh and just as I remembered that thing, there's an update to it
Neat
gazpromavia
isnt that the oil aviation company thing
tivat is an interesting destination for them
I think they used to fly actual commercial flights
But yeah Gazprom is the big oil/gas company
after almost 8 hours of vatsim I'm at jfk
ive only ever done 1 flight in the A380, it still runs really bad on my new PC
im playing 1080p on a 4070
Lmao
i kind of want to fly into houghton county airport, but the only aircraft that flies into there modern-day is CRJ-200s
ive thought about learning the aerosoft CRJ, but even then that wouldnt be entirely accurate, the smallest they have for that is the 550
ive thought about just doing the flight but with another regional aircraft, like an e-jet, but idk
i really need to fly the aircraft i have even more, instead of constantly learning new ones
What's the airport code
KCMX
i wouldnt be against doing a DC-3 flight into there, but the only DC-3s that flew into KCMX were from KMQT, which is a defunct airport now
Yeah, can't find anything other than a DC-3, a Saab 340 and some CRJ-200s
i actually did the CRJ-200 flight irl, outside of driving for actual days into northern michigan, flying is the only way in and out
i havent flown the x-crafts e-jets ever since my landing gear collapsed that one time, so id like to try that out again
that is by far my most expensive flight sim addon that i have purchased in one go, it was $120 for the full x-crafts pack
hope the md11 comes to msfs24 asap
they're pretty good though
i like them
Hope they get PWs out soon too
I just hate how PWs always get ignored
MD-11: no PWs
A310: neither PW4000s nor JT9s which I'm pretty sure some had
A300: no PWs at first
definitely the best representation of an e-jet in any flight sim to-date tbh
plus the dev is cool, im signed up for his mailing list and its pretty cool
oops
nationwide alaskan airlines ground stop again
Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you're scheduled to fly tonight, please check your flight status before heading to the airport.
it looks like skywest may be unaffected? at least at KSEA there's a skywest aircraft lined for departure right now
nice, i forgot to update my e-jets before the flight
so if i have a shitty landing, i have something to blame at least
i had a weird takeoff, my controls felt way too sensitive, plus the airport scenery i was using is outdated so the navigraph taxi charts werent accurate and i had to do a u-turn and some offroading
im also trying out my first RNAV landing, though im not too intimidated because its a pretty modern aircraft
horrible landing
the aircraft decided it didnt want to follow VNAV or LNAV into the approach, so i had to fly it by hand, and then even though i had autothrottle on it didnt want to try and match speed either, so i was stalling out like 200yds from the runway threshold
and then when i disabled autothrottle to give myself more throttle, i started gaining altitude and floating again, and of course when i cut the throttle to bring it back down, i land like a falling rock
they even have a video on their youtube demonstrating an RNAV landing, and it is nothing like i saw in-game
the aircraft decided to just stay at the same altitude and heading as the transition waypoint
now im just going to be pissed off and trying to fall asleep, because i decided to do this right before bed
i think what didnt help is that for some reason they inserted a vectors and discontinuity between the same waypoint, the duplicate waypoint was showing up all bugged out too, so that might have caused something?
It’s more of a mental thing
First RNAV approach, in an aircraft I spent $120 for, that I’ve had constant issues with, that I haven’t flown in ages, and that I haven’t flown much at all
It really doesn't want to climb
Or accelerate
I guess a full cargo load is heavy XD
Beautiful thing, finally got it up to cruise
Now that was moderately terrifying
hahahahahah that reminds me of one time I flew the Tu-154 in Miami for a big VATSIM event, and it was pretty bad weather, at night so I spent a bunch of time totally IFR (outside the plane it was just black), and one of my friends on discord that was watching came out of the blue and asked "isn't that terrifying, flyin IFR with that plane, and VOR only?"
I was so focused that night that I didn't have the mental capacity to be scared
Yeah I know that feeling
Also actual imc ifr /a in unpressurised GA can get super scary (but a lot easier than in the tubes because of the lower speed)
Tbh I love the flights that leave you no mental capacity to think of literally anything else
thats what flyiong is all about tbh
flying isnt as fun anymore i feel
well it still is but it's less hands on and overall abit less skill
the dangerous airports are almost all gone and planes are really automated nowadays (which is good)
kai tak bad weather at night must've been funny
I just wish I could've been born in like 1965, become a pilot with FedEx, run DC-10s and MD-11s to Kai Tak
born in the 40s and then pilot by the 60s
Or with BA and do that in 747s
fly some pan am shitters around
Oh yeah, cool too
In your prime on 707s and DC-8s
Or Il-62s and Il-86s 🥹
On the JF store they're slightly more expensive
But you still get a discount on the other variant for owning one of them
Well it's a shame yeah
Still don't have it
Tbh I think I should now stop buying planes and instead start getting a bit of hardware
L-1011, 747s, F70/100, A3B4...
There are a lot that I like
Though tbf
JF and ini planes are hard to fly without hardware
dont u have a joystick?
Nope
I have a grand total of nothing
Keyboard warrior here
Well, keyboard pilot
jesus man
It really depends on the plane tbh
PMDG/Fenix/TFDi fly very nicely
With JF planes really the only problem is the tiller, the only way I can control the nosewheel on the 146 is though moving the handle in the cockpit with a mouse
And ini planes are a bit less responsive to control inputs on keyboard and also have some weird nosewheel steering issues
Ooh yeah that's rough
That's essentially why I haven't flown the 146 and the F28 at all
I really need to sort my lack of hardware cause those planes are lovely
F28 into Tivat...
wait you make liveries?
Sorry XD
Just used the first one I saw
I'll get yours then too XD
hahahaha no worries, I was joking, use whatever you want 😆
Over Ireland now
speaking of liveries, my current project
No bullets fly starts playing
that's another fucked up fact, the commemorative air force was the confederate air force up until 2001
not like, it was a confederacy of museums or something, no it was literally the 1860-1865 confederate states of america
with the flag and everything
welp
downgraded from SU4 beta to SU3 and had my first MSFS2024 crash
guess I'm going back to SU4
doing B-17 repaints is a lot of fun, you usually end up learning a ton of history while doing them
done
I-DUPA? Never heard of it, it's been I-DUPC all this time
not done, i forgot a few missing text decals
holy god the xcrafts ejets are horrible
a departure from KLAX has you holding at 8000ft for a waypoint, and for some reason the aircraft does not handle autothrotle with that waypoint, so it levels off and then overspeeds
ive adjusted my control curves way down too, and the aircraft still jolts all over the place even with the smallest inputs
like, on takeoff, it was like binary, either i was pulling up extremely hard and skyrocketing to 20+ degrees ANU, or not enough to get off of the ground
i think i actually slammed into the runway on takeoff because i deflected up so high that it scared me, and i moved the yoke back down and it caused me to drop again
i think xcrafts forgot about XP11 users too, the weather radar for XP12 was just implemented recently, and the XP11 version is just bugged out now
i love how i was fired at literally the most perfect time, to where i cant upgrade sims because theyre too expensive
it's overshooting waypoints too
i am realizing that this might be because i didn't arm approach
though i dont know why the autothrottle wouldnt try to keep speed regardless
you have to arm approach even on RNAV for the aircraft to go into glidepath/LNAV mode
im guessing the aircraft kind of knows that its a programmed RNAV approach, and what the transition waypoint is, so if APP isnt armed when you cross that waypoint it thinks you're still just flying normally and that you don't want to be on approach yet
i dont know why boise idaho of all airports doesn't have an ILS approach, there are only VOR and RNAV approaches
its literally flat and the runways are parallel to the mountains
GOOD LANDING!!!
i deadened the absolute shit out of my controls too, but now it feels pretty good to hand-fly, i think im on like 25% sensitivity and a wicked axis curve
Holy waffle
yesterday, for a period, bucharest became the busiest airport on vatsim
Going back to Moscow from 'Frankfurt but not really'
Again an almost full MD-11, it'll be a fun landing
xplane looks great
i am experiecing a heap of issues too with the vnav lol
funny
i wonder why though
quite a weird issue
is that the payware one?
i dont know much about e-jets, but i know that the top two right ones should be magenta if its controlled by the FMS
ist the one u flew yesterday, yes
the ap randomly switched frm LNAV /FLCH to ROLL/FLCH (green)
upon reengagement it still continued its terroristic maneuvers
funny plane
yeah...
the x-crafts e-jets is definitely the best representation of e-jets in any sim right now, but that doesnt make it good lol
the FSS one is an extremely low bar
pretty much the perfect description of xplane as a whole tbh lol
when xplane works, its phenomenal
when it doesnt work, i would rather a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in my ear
here's a question: on an RNAV approach, if you're misaligned with the runway, do you correct immediately, or can you stick with it for a bit to get to a lower altitude?
i was quite misaligned, but i corrected pretty early and landed safely
I'm not 100% sure, but IIRC unless there is a predetermined visual segment as soon as you're visual you can line up on your own
Time to fly BA
🎵 B.E.A. Number One in Europe 🎵
Yup
Flying it to Gibraltar
Might've not been the best idea to do it at night, my first flight there too XD
That livery was one of the biggest reasons why I bought the 319/321 expansion
it's so cool
I love it
Now I only need the Trident 🥲
For me that was the Rossiya livery lol
Not even just the expansion
The Fenix overall
fair enough that's also really cool
I was walking home from driving school once, it was right nearby Vnukovo
Saw a Rossiya A319 depart to St. Petersburg and fly right overhead
Said "I want"
hahahahahaha that's really cool
Next thing I know 80 quid down and I'm doing test/learning flights in Toulouse
that's how it always goes lol
we (as in flight simmer) lack any form of self control
hahahahhah
TRUE
I did the same with the 777-200, as soon as they dropped the Rainbow JAS livery on fs.to, I had the exact same thought process and suffered the same consequences
Saw a Rossiya 319
I want
Saw how AAL bare metal sits on widebodies
Now I have the MD-11 and I haven't even flown AAL apart from one delivery
Saw a video about the MD-80
Now I have the DC-9, a poor man's MD-80
yeah same
Not a single complete delivery either
I think you did
aaah cool
I'd really like to figure out what causes the stupid wing flex though 😭
Tbf the reason why I haven't flown the DC-9 is pretty much the same as why I don't fly the DC-6 that much - it does actually require a fair bit of action from you, not having any stanby navigation or anything...
Oh yes, the DC-6...
Saw Everts
Now I have the DC-6
I have no idea how to land that thing either, every single one of my landings in it ended up in me sending it to maintenance
Uhh can anyone show how to engage VOR mode on teh 320
(Please don't throw rocks at me for flying a modern plane by VORs, I have no idea how else to approach Gibraltar)
jesus, i was playing around with the C-47 a bit, and its insane how low they flew on paratrooper drop missions
500ft AGL is the drop height, 1000-1500ft is "cruise", and 3000ft is the highest they went in the mission plan
Definitely could've been better but not bad for a first time and for a completely eyeballed approach in the dark
500ft is one of the "higher" examples, they went as low as 300 sometimes. I guess they were worried about the parachutists being shot out of the sky.
for a second i thought that was illegal under the geneva convention, but its only illegal if its theyre parachuting from a disabled aircraft, you can shoot paratroopers because theyre deploying combat units
so yeah, most likely
also, i forgot that you can clear the cache in MSFS, so i did that and my game is running a lot better
i really wish the aeroplane heaven C-47 could get the duckworks DC-3 enhancement, because by default its borderline unflyable
Shooting down bailed out pilots sadly did still happen in the war, there were some pilots like Adolf Galland who were famously against it, but it was a mercy rarely given
id like to do a DC-3 flight some day
apparently its all dead reckoning, a max cruise of 5000-8500, and visually circling to land
its like flying a GA aircraft, but instead its an unpressurized airliner
wtaf, this does NOT need to be fully modeled
a 2D image would be perfectly fine there
i want to do a flight, but i dont know what aircraft or where to fly
Skurup to Paris
Take a Long hauler if you have it
Skurup?
i really should probably do a long haul, i need to clean my room, and i could do that during cruise
i found a good flight
US airways did A320 flights between philly and bermuda
i still need to get used to flying the fenix with a controller now that my desk setup doesnt allow me to use the full airbus hardware anymore
well, i could use it, but i really dont feel like figuring out a solution for something i would rarely use anyway
Sturup i meant
Alright, did a passenger flight once yesterday, time to go back to freight
Destination: Hong Kong
That was a fun takeoff XD
Less than 2 hours to go
Oh flying into default airports is fun...
VHHH by default has no current 07L/25R
It only has 07R/25L and 07L/25R (current 07C/25C)
But well, not having a runway is fine, they were landing centre right now anyway
But when choosing the approach in the FMC, I obviously don't have an for 07C, cause the game doesn't have that runway - in its mind it's 07L
So I just select the 07L approach and fly normally, thinking that well, considering it has no actual 07L, and the game thinks that 07C is 07L, it should take me to the correct runway
Wrong, both the LNAV and the ILS align me with the modern day 07L
Which, ahem
Does not exist
Good thing I had perfect visibility so I just flew it down manually
Now if this was a 0 viz situation and I were doing an autoland...
Well the plane would've flared normally, except there'd be no runway

This one has missing taxiways so I had to set it to daytime to see where I was going
you really have to trust your gauges sometimes
wow, that is extremely strange
europe only does regional airlines duing the day?
right now there are 0 e-jets over europe, but just a handful of hours ago it was almost full of e-jets
nevermind, the united states is the same, all of the e-jets dissapear at night, weird
Oh that's so common too, so annoying
Narita doesn't have the taxiway that connects the shorter runway, you literally have to go off road
Memphis by default misses the bridges over the road
Sheremetyevo's missing Terminal C...
RKSI doesn’t exist by default
Which is annoying, considering it’s the largest airport in South Korea
In 2020 or 2024?
2020
I might have missed a world update then
There it is
I don't think I've installed any mods for it
Yeah, there aren't any even I think
I don't think it's part of a world update either?
Aw man :(
Today was the last ever Hawaiian callsign flight
From now on, it’s all Alaska callsigns and codes
Just wings and the tail, no fuselage XD
On my way from Hong Kong to Karaganda, just under an hour until I start descending
Descending, the fuselage still is nowhere to be seen
Everything's pitch black
so yeah that flight went well
It was feeling green
i have moments like that often
makes me realize that even though im pretty okay at flying in a simulator, i still am not cut out to be a real pilot
some day id like to do a discovery flight just to say ive flown in a GA aircraft, but i have no interest in getting a PPL either

It wasn't even my fault, the plane has a bug where all the systems just die
Just unplug the flight stick for a millisecond and it just dies
Once you do a flight your gonna want to keep doing flights
The bug is incredibly hard to uncatch
Wish I had the money to fly irl
Just $182k and I can have an ATPL... meanwhile for 150-170 you can buy an apartment
In the uk we are lucky to have a really decent modular pathway
Give or take £55k-£80k depending on how fast you wanna do it
That's not bad
Plus I think academies offer scholarships?
Nope
Not here
Airline do recruitment but that’s like 20000 applicants and 20 people get in per year
Ryanair do it but it’s a down payment of €30000
And you have to live in cork for 2 years
Shithole
If you want to do an integrated course with a school it’s between £110k-£150k
Financing will cover half that cost
But at the end of that there is no guarantee of a job
So if after 6 months you don’t have something your ATPL expires
Modular is way better but it’s also way more work because you can work at your own pace and you can do the final licences when airlines are accepting applicants for positions as FO’s
You also aren’t tied down to an airline
Vulcan is the first thing I am installing when I get back into flightsimming
They really did knock it out of the park
Get PPL, train for CPL and do the exams yourself, then train for ATPL and do that all yourself and then you can either get a type rating yourself or go to an airline like Ryanair or EasyJet who will pay for a 737/320 type rating for you
You can just train yourself for CPL and ATPL?
Cause if so I'll really have to think of gettingn a PPL and then doing that
In the uk you can
The exams are expensive as is hour building
a group of people told me to put my photos here because they didnt like the fact that i put it in the "wrong channel" however
Where did you put it?
Ah public transport

same here! all done for today, will be back tomorrow after an adventure break
with my severe anxiety, i would expect to be a terrifiying experience that i would be fine doing only once
how do they even do this irl on an entire fleet of aircraft
is it downloaded wirlessly or are they still using physical media to do it
I don't even have a navigraph subscription so I get SID's that no longer exist
I'm pretty sure it's still physical disks and stuff
Wdym AIRAC 2511, I'm still on 2403 💀

goes so hard
AC-130 is legendary
"can be shot down by anyone with even the most rudimentary MANPADS" doesn't sell it as well I guess
Iunno, the AC-130 definitely epitomises the "fighting the last war" problem for me
It's great against a bunch of goat herders who have an SKS or an AKM, but there's a reason they only flew at night in incredibly low-threat environments
A standard C-130J with the rapid dragon standoff cruise missile system is a much more capable strike platform these days
every time i encounter a problem that could be solved by upgrading to XP12, i think about the guy in the xplane server said that i was financially irresponsible, and that xplane was the cost of a few lunches, and if i just saved up for a week i could afford to buy it
im not going to deny the finanically irresponsible part, but regardless, that is an insanely shitty take
ill try to find his original message later
Tbf while I'm completely uninterested in military aviation and therefore have no idea about how everything works there, using a C-130 as an attack plane feels like trying to use a 737 or an A320 as an attack plane, might as well stick guns on those and call it a day
Like, as far as I know a 737/320 would even be able to fly further, faster and higher while carrying a higher payload
gonna do an overnight flight today on the a350 again
this time im gonna do heathrow to phoenix
Almost in Tahiti
today marks exactly 1 year since the FBW A380X released
what the hell is default toronto, the runway lights are floating like cmon man
Get used to it, that's defaults for you XD
but it's never been that bad before
only modded airport I have is belgrad but I haven't flown there
what's a good freeware scenery mod for toronto
And this btw is why the point of "Well MSFS made the whole world automatically" that people make in regards to TSW/TSC/whatever other train sim is completely invalid XD
Don't think there's much for Toronto tbh
aren't the airports actually hand crafted?
Oh no
I mean, a few are
Those that are specifically mentioned in deluxe/premium editions
Plus those from world updates
Although most of the time even those hand-crafted ones are not too amazing
But 99.999% of them are autogenerated from whatever data was available to Microsoft at the time
That's why we get missing airports (Istanbul... literally one of the biggest world hubs), missing bits (Missing runway at VHHH, missing taxiways in RJAA and KMEM, missing terminal C stands at UUEE, and those are just the ones that I remember off the top of my head) and things that do exist but are a total mess (CYOW is, also I've seen someplace where the taxi markings were all over the place but don't remember where exactly it was)
EGLL looks fun to fly into right now
i was like, "oh itll be cute to do an A380 flight on its one-year anniversary", and its still as laggy as it ever was
there is a reason why i was only able to do 1 flight with the A380 in a year since it released
they should put VATSIM controllers in charge of US airspace now that we're losing controllers like crazy because they arent being paid
When the controller tells you to disconnect irl
genuinely how is it possible that the A380X performs this bad, not even the inibuilds a350 performs nearly as bad as the a380
it might be better when you get into the air, and i am in inibuilds dubai, but the lag spikes are pain
still no takeoff calculator too?
i was curious what flying with FSLTL would be like in the A380, and it almost took my entire PC down with it
and don't take my criticisms for ungratefulness, i am very happy that it exists, and im very thankful that it's free and open source, but it also just runs pretty awful
we're flying i guess, i'll see how this goes
The Federal Aviation Administration's National Airspace System (NAS) dashboard
i love seeing all of those closed airports due to staffing
going through and looking at recent landings for EGLL on volanta, and all 3 have veered off of the runway
in an A350, 777, and A320
currently at 19kts of crosswind
and im coming in an A380
fuck it, we ball
shitty weather indeed, but we made it
i did almost veer off the runway, and it wasnt smooth, but considering its an A380 in a stiff crosswind and low visibility, ill allow it
if all porkchops were perfect, we wouldnt have hot dogs
Good to see Joe's still hanging in there

Welp
I guess it's time for another plane endurance test
Hawaiian used to have DC-9s, including DC-9-10s, and I wanna deliver one
And even LA to Hawaii would be cutting it very close for that plane
In fact I think even empty it can't make it
id assume they have taken the seats out and whipped some fuel tanks in
Oh definitely, there's no other way they could make it
Can't do that in MSFS though
Also well, no instrumentation or any kind of standby nav, heading mode for 6 hours... this is going to involve a lot of math
Soooo...
But that's calculated based on a DC-9-30 profile, so I'll burn a bit less in cruise in reality
I think I can rightfully be scared
Ooooooh reminds me of when I did an air Nauru flight with the F28
Pure dead reckoning
I think I used an online plotter to do some of the math
And it worked out quite well, but it was a shorter flight than what you want to do
My flight plan XD
Best part is
I don't even have a wind or ground speed indication
I'll have to calculate all of those too lol
Yeah, you can use an online plotter
I can't find it now 😭
Welp, my first and final mainland VOR behind me now, now it begins
E6B, NavLog Calculator, Weather Reports, METAR, TAF, Wind Components, Instrument Simulator, Weight and Balance, Pressure Altitude, Density Altitude, True Air Speed, and a lot more.
Thanks
Tbh I do kinda want to try to do it myself too
Cause it's useful stuff to know
in that case you can use this
I think at school we never did it using math
it was always either graphically (scale drawing and measuring) and then with the plotter
Fair
but cool that you want to do it yourself
Well hopefully in 5 hours I'll be in Hawaii

ITS NAVIGRAPH CYCLE UPDATE DAY
