Update #285 (87699) - Latency Calcuation Fixes

Many thanks to all of the players who have been sharing information with us about situations where they have not been able to play due to latency (ping) estimations when they really should have pretty good internet. This only affects a subset of players, so there is a good chance this update is not relevant to you, but it might be. Out of these groups:

• Players who can use Matchmaking fine already
• Players who cannot use Matchmaking, but do have decent internet
• Players who cannot use Matchmaking, and don't have decent internet

This update is for the middle set. Definitely let us know if this helped you or not!

Fixes also went in for not selecting the correct mode/map when directly inviting someone to play with.

Has there ever been a report on Coop players being thrown to PvP parties (when queued for Coop) or is this the resolved version of it?

There was a fix for that in this build, haven't seen any mention of it yet. Custom is still messed up but it should work fine for invites and matchmaking. Definitely let me know if anyone has that happen in this new build.

Not sure I follow, can you explain a bit more? Mate means friend you invited, or matchmaking? Left when? Did the mode display change or did it still say PvP? What does 1v1 coop mean?

when i was in 2v2q lobby random connect to my team and then leave, after this i somehow started play against Erik*

cant remember that it displayed, i just pressed ready and PvE started

Black screen in custom games was not fixed, it can still happen. Looking for info from anyone it happens to. I've had very few actual reports though which makes it hard to track down. There is a thread in bugs where I ask for more info.

If someone gets a black screen in matchmaking, that is more concerning, but in theory could happen if people join, change modes, leave. I may have to lock mode changing. It's nice that you can change from coop to survival to PvP but it seems it leads to problems.

If any player in a match cannot connect to the server, everyone gets a black screen. Not sure why it's not the loading screen, but the root cause is the same.

A player can leave after the match has started, but if they aren't able to connect at the beginning it will break.

And unfortunately it breaks everyone in the match.

patch cracked ranked, RP can increase but cant decrease.
i lost like 6 time in a row but had same points(2051), after i won couple times and now has 2240 . And they cant be lost

RP is calcuated on the server, not the client. It's possible it has a delay or something is wrong, but that code hasn't changed in 7 years.

So just to be clear for anyone else reading this: this patch had nothing to do with anything that could have touched ranking. We love hearing reports about something being wrong, but it would be helpful to not say what it is. Because we then hear from other players "oh such and such changed with this patch" when it was not something said by a developer and isn't true.
