Something that really impressed me in this trailer were the creature designs of Nyla and Hei Bai

I need to say that the bending really surprised me. ||They even had Aang do the Air scooter, which was not something that I expected.||

Also, notibly, a while back we were discussing how they were going to fit in certain plots

like the Northern Air Temple

well it seems they have Teo and the Mechanist in Omashu now

That actually would make a lot of sense.

So, we are getting an expanded Azula role in book 1. I'm wondering how they will do it? I think we see her in one of the shots.

the sets, animation, GFX, voices of the characters are on point!

im impressed! i didnt really think that i would like the show, but i think my opinion has changed now!

Okay, but aside from the bending, the choreographing looks really nice so far. Its so smooth that the bending with it also looks really smooth.

the bending seems just a tad underwhelming to me but it'll probably be better in the show, let's see.

My opinion: The casting seems to look very well done, they act very dedicated to their cartoon counterparts and they perform them VERY nicely
The animals are animated very realistically, Disney quality of course but how else could it be done
And the voices, you may know are not the same, but that might be a good thing, because it's something new, and for something new they fit the characters they're playing as perfectly

Thoughts on the Mechanist, Teo and their people being in Omashu instead of the northern air temple?

This might be hint that we might see the fire nation attack Omashu

I think it makes a lot of sense for the purposes of live action. Saves a ton on budget, and can help build the theme of Earth Kingdom residents having to retreat as refugees into the city-fortresses like Omashu and Ba Sing Se

Definitely a surprise, but I think it works

Yeah, Avatar Studios is apparently doing another animated series, but we won't see that until next year

Very cool! Bending looked very good and everything looks very faithfull to the animated story

It's been confirmed the opening of the show will depict Sozin vs Gyatso

So we get to see Sozin here attacking Monk Gyatso. And it's a very important moment in the story. It kicks off the entire journey. And it was important to us that we started off our whole show with that.

while i totally get this from a budget and focus perspective, i think its a bummer we might miss out on the themes in the og episode with the mechanist: aang being very offended that this historic place of a people - HIS people - who were tragically wiped out is being destroyed and repurposed without a care for the original intention, but eventually realizing that if this place can provide a home for them when they have no other then that's more important.
i just thought that was pretty interesting and i dont think we'll get that if theyre just living in an earth kingdom city like omashu.
but hey, it could have other cool things abt it, like maybe omashu is already under siege and thats why the fire nation is able to force the mechanist to build war machines for them, idk.

on an unrelated note, does anyone have a guess as to where this is? the line of lights like a wall makes me think of ba sing se but it seems too early for that

I watched the trailer and the after party.
And my! The bendings look so nice! And "realistic".
The creatures are amazing, the movements for bending looks so natural, the effects are really nice...
Honestly, I'm super excited, can't wait to see the 1st episode.
I hoe we'll get all the important themes developed in the anime 🤞

I got so emotinal when the theme song started playing, that version sounds epic!
Also especially June and the part with Blue Spirit walked directly from the animation~

This would confirm the attack on Omashu happens in the episode

So both the episode of Omashu having been captured in S2 & the northern air temple happen in 1 episode

Hai Bai and the Shirshu look spooky cool, everything looks pretty great to me. The only thing I spotted in the trailer that gave me a little unease was Iroh firebending; he did this strange thing with his hands before fire came. I hope that doesn't happen often

i dunno, i never said they did it well in the original episode, i said it was interesting, and we wont get any version of that conflict if the earth refugees are in omashu

I see where his coming from, the air nomads are extinct, and there lands are still up, so it’s the perfect opportunity to escape whatever place they were living at before, and come to a more safer place like the air temples, if there were still living people it would be 💯 wrong, but at this point forward it was known that the air nomads were never going to repopulate at that time, so they took one of the 4 temples for themselves. But yeah it’s still very wrong from the mechanist.

Like as a Egyptian if I saw the pyramid of Giza getting stollen and destroyed, turning into a facility, while the Egyptian population is extinct I would be devastated.

I loved it. Just wish the actors had a little bit more emotions but eveything was super good, the effects, marshal arts, scenery it was all good. can’t wait for the release.
