Are there enough WoW players here as well? If so I'd like there to be a separate thread or something where we can talk shop
And which faction is better
And the political topic of why Mages are a bad class
Can make a WoW thread
If theres indeed enough interest
I just started playing it again recently
I first played during mists of pandaria, stopped for a while, played again during legion, and just picked it up again a few months ago
Ayo Dragonflight is great
How much have you done?
Dragonflight is a surprisingly good expansion story and content-wise, only downside is that I joined joined back during October so I'm two years late but what can you do? I'm just having fun before the next expansion drops
Are you guys Horde or Alliance? If Horde hit me up sometime, I'mm PM you my bnet ID if you guys wanna run dungeons or something
I alternate between Classic and Retail
Not a lot tbh
I also haven’t bought dragonflight so
I was giving it a little while to see if I’d play consistently
The newest expansion I have is bfa
I have characters on both but mostly alliance
Oh...

Well, time to buy the next expansion
(You get Dragonflight)
Yeah I’m going to
Pog
Also the ones they announced at blizzcon look cool too
The 3 expansion story saga
Yeah
Finally some story cohesion
Problem is quest devs not always working with story devs
Hamuul, top 3 most known Tauren characters. Top 3 mightiest druids on Azeroth.
He references his people, the Shu'halo aka Tauren, as their language. The Tauren language is Taurahe.
Quest dev PLS
WoW has so much the devs often forget things therefore resulting in errors in the quantity of story
The RP bros will be the first to notice and complain (and often it gets fixed fast)
That said, Dragonflight is WoWs best questing experience
A lot of the games best quests can be found here
Many of the people that made WoW's story great left a while ago, that's why BFA and Shadowlands are crap
There's a reason why Metzen returned

Took a break from SoD and went back to Retail, capital cities are almost empty since everyone is trying SoD

https://www.smitegame.com/news/bake-kujira-a-closer-look/
A japanese bruiser guardian viable for solo and support
- A brand new type of Basic Attack that is the primary source of his damage, even into the late game
- Bake Kujira converts multiple types of stats to help augment his Basic Attacks
- An ability that has its cooldown reduced when you Basic Attack enemies
- A debuff on his Ultimate that we’ve only ever used once before
- flavorful and powerful disruption to a player’s senses
Would love to find out if such interest exists!
Avatar Legends had some interest from me and my friends, but the system the creators chose for it is a huge turn off from us
I'm still learning the rules of the game myself. I'm not wild about the combat mechanics. What was the turn off for you and your friends? Just that it's PBTA or something else?
It's more of the systems itself. Here's a link to my original message when I brought it up: #1038658782068219924 message
You can read that and the subsequent conversation I had with someone about it.
But as that message says, my group is well-versed and experienced, or at least enough so, in TTRPG and other systems; we have two experienced GMs, a beginner-intermediate third, and me as an upcoming beginner.
As for the games/systems we have played, it is again enough to have a solid opinion on TTRPG systems in general; we main Pathfinder 2e but we have experience in Star Wars 5e, Vampire: The Masquerade 5d (Unrelated to DnD 5e), and Warhammer 40k. Some other games we have in queue are Twilight 2000 and Fallout 2d20.
The major complaints we had with Avatar Legends were two:
1. The system the creatores chose ("Powered by the Apocalypse") does not skills or anything trademark of other systems; to put this into perspective for d20 systems you roll a d20 (Pathfinder and DnD), for 2d20 systems you roll 2d20s (Fallout 2d20), and some other systems still use skills but are heavily narrative and rely on story with little to no combat (Vampire: The Masquerade). The "Powered by the Apocalypse" system feels very incomplete and underwhelming if you are used to the systems above like my group is; no skills, beasiary, or any of that nature. From what someone explained to me, " It's meant to be rules lite and put emphasis on the fiction/RP than hard-coded mechanics for each and every technique that's out there." In short, the rules are there to provide a thin and at times faint line that exists solely to follow along as you and your players roleplay. Nothing more.
Still typing, allow me to finish
2. The tone of Avatar Legends itself. What I mean by this is that the CRB makes it sound like you are playing as another "Team Avatar" - a group of kids and young adults having adventures that can get often silly and wacky in the world of Avatar. This may not seem like an issue but my group enjoys serious campaigns with the occasional laughter and comedic event every now and then, not when it is like the ATLA and LoK shows where comedy is placed in every scene of the show.
Allow me to elaborate on the campaign I had planned for my players...
It takes place during or within the first two decades of the Great War and the Fire Nation is still relatively in the beginning phases of its conquest of the world, specifally the Earth Kingdom. My players would consist of mostly Earth Kingdom citizens, one Air Nomad survivor running and hiding from the FN onslaught (Think Star Wars and the Jedi after the Great Jedi Purge), and possibly one firebender whose story I was still trying to implement into the narrative.
The entire campaign would consist of them trying to survive the global conflict while also fighting back at the Fire Nation when ever they could to gain small-term victories in the overall war hoping to delay the inevitable. I even planned on having the BBG or last boss of the campaign be Firelord Sozin himself; they aren't meant to beat him of course, it would just be the ending of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order where they realize how little they are in the grand scheme of things.
Being a history buff, I was even starting to read up on World War I tactics and even stories and tactics employed during the Second Sino-Japanese War/Pacific War to make the setting feel more alive and climactic.
Imagine my and my group's unease when the tone of the CRB was setting us up to be another group of Kataras, Sokkas, Bolins, Makos, etc. We enjoy comedy but none of us like having characters solely built as the village idiot or engaging in entirely silly events.
Sorry for the wall of text, TTRPGs are a hobby of my group so we were particularly opinionated on this. Especially since Avatar is one of our favorite franchises.
So you're definitely right, in that the intent behind the game was to skew towards a young adult team avatar style party. However, I'll push back on the idea that you can't establish your own tone within the ruleset. The one-shot i'm looking forward to running comes from pregen campaign they put out in which your party takes an assignment from Long Feng. The motivation to work for him can be anything (adventure party needs a job/money, he's blackmailing you or holding family members hostage, etc.). The mission he assigns you is to escort a defecting Fire Nation military leader from their current position to Ba Sing Se. Their reasons for defecting can be whatever you like (moral awakening/conscience, escaping to save their own skin after falling out of favor with the firelord, anything). I only mention this because it comes from the official materials, and definitely has the potential to skew darker and more mature.
I definitely agree that some of mechanics are overly complicated. The balance thing is very cool, but I can't imagine it mechanically coming up in play very often, which makes it weird that it's so complex and described as if it should be constantly paid attention to and a driving force behind your character's decision making in roleplay.
Unlike a few other PBTA games I know (Masks and Moster of the Week) it seems like your Labels (stats) are not as fluid throughout play. AND finally, i'll give you a big agree that the Playbooks are way to specific when you compare them to something like a DnD class/race/alignment system.
All of that being said, I've been very eager to try out the game and learn what i like and what doesn't work and then just modify as necessary.
Yes, I understand now that I can make the tone of my setting(s) as dark as I need them to be if it fits the narrative after asking here, somewhere else, and doing some additional reading. The CRB just threw me and my friends off because every example it gave us was a wacky encounter in-game (One involves Suyin breaking down the door and one of the "PCs" just goes, "I am a huge fan!"). Hopefully to remedy this (If we do get around to it), I'll just have our beginner session be a casual setting prior to Roku's Avatar training is complete so each player can play as what ever they want, how ever they want without much restriction by the setting. We can play and learn the rules together and make mistakes to learn from naturally while having fun.
The big issue of the system of the PBTA in general. It is something we can grow to learn and adapt to eventually, if my group decides to try it, I just know that it is way too different from what we are used to and I wouldn't blame them if they decide they don't like it after giving it a shot.
I mean you’ve hit the nail on the head. PBTA is much more roleplay/narrative driven.
I’m curious if you could “hack” another system you’re more familiar with and just play it within the avatar universe.
Oh yeah, it's possible. Some systems are morw homebrew-friendly than others; the 2d20 system is really homebrew friendly, having made some content for that system myself.
The way I see it, the problem lies with how to calculate skills if I do homebrew Avatar into other systems.
🤷♂️ I’m sure it depends on the system but I have no idea how to comment.
My dracthyr
The world is full of omens, for those prepared to see. But some are easier to discern than others. Such is the case with Bake Kujira, the Ghost-Whale...

I tried Dracthyr but didn't like it, just made one and bought their mounts then logged off and deleted him. They had surprisingly decent lore though.
Thinking of getting Final Fantasy XV on Steam, if it goes on sale for Christmas
Can someone here vouch that it works on Windows? I remember people complaining that it glitches, freezes, and sometimes doesn't launch on PC when ti first released on Steam
Anyone play Lethal Company?
I love that game. Played it multiple times, got the good ending.
is it good i migth download it
Solo’s good but looks better for multiplayer if you have friends irl
Has anyone even got the new avatar game
quest for balance?
Quest for Balance or Frontier of Pandora?
Either way don't get them, QfB is an incomplete mess (Not considering bugs, just incomplete across the board), and FoP is just Far Cry but on Pandora
Yeah
What game is this?
World of Warcraft
Ohh okay
The owl is me
You look awesome
Just completed the Emerald Dream storyline, or what we have now; finished it all up celebrating with the NEs. Pretty good storyline, if only I did the raid and not just keep doing the quests.
Don't know if anyone here plays it but I'm posting it here to diversify the games in this chat
This is my ship in Elite Dangerous
